Driveway Doctor

The Driveway Doctor knows his stuff! He uses better materials than other companies I've used and my driveway looks great. I plan to use him from here on out.

Two thumbs up for the Driveway Doctor! I called at the end of a work day, around 6PM and left a vm. I explained that we were putting my parents' house on the market within the next week or two and needed to have the driveway sealcoated. Chris (the owner) called me back within 15 minutes. He asked about the condition and size of the driveway and gave me a quote over the phone. Based on the age of the asphalt, he recommended using a heavier tar emulsion sealer to fill in the cracks. He explained that he generally does not go out to Downers Grove, but it sounded as if I was in a bind, so he made a special exception for me. He commented that the rainy weather had put everyone behind schedule, and I would probably have a difficult time scheduling any contractor within the next week or two. He then promised to call me the following Monday to schedule an exact time/date to complete the job, and he kept his word. When he called on Monday, he initially offered to come first thing in the morning on Wednesday. But when I explained that the lawn care service usually comes at noon on Wednesdays, he was concerned that the grass clippings would wind up adhering to the driveway. He made a few phone calls and rearranged his schedule so that he could come in the afternoon instead. Wednesday morning arrived, and he called to confirm that he was going to start the job at 1PM. When I called him later in the afternoon to ask how things went, he indicated that the driveway was actually smaller than I had stated, so he put down a second coat on the lower portion / apron of the driveway to make up for the $20 cost differential (I was at work all day and had taped a check to the back door, based on his quote). I would have happily paid him the additional $20 as a tip because he bent over backwards to accommodate my scheduling needs. Out of all of the service professionals that I have hired in the past few weeks to get the house ready, the Driveway Doctor was by far the most professional and pleasant to work with. Thanks, Chris!

The owner worked with us in setting up a good time for the job. He was easy to get hold of, and even once answered the phone late in the evening when I expected to leave a message. He tells customers to remove weeds in the driveway, which is understandable. The work seemed fine. A short time later we found a couple of small areas along the edges, where plants hung over the driveway a little, that were missed, and left a message for the company about this. He called right away and said that this was under warranty and he would make it right. We made arrangements for completing the work, which occurred promptly. I did not price this work at other companies and can't say how this compares with others.

Chris has done our driveway for about 5 years, and the driveway continues to improve. He uses a thicker mixture and applies it carefully. In the past, we've had companies that actually spattered asphalt on our aluminum siding, so we really appreciate his neatness and the care he takes with application.

Owner gave quote over the phone. I was out of town, and left message asking when it would be OK to drive on it.. He didn't return call, so I left a second message two days later. He then left angry message saying the driveway was twice as big as he expected, but he would honor his quoted price. The job was OK, not great.

Great. Chris was very careful to thoroughly cover all spots. No excess splashed on concrete as other companies have done !!

Had to re-schedule three times due to weather and business travel issues, but Driveway Doctor was very professional in follow up and just doing what they said they would do! Said it would take an hour and that's exactly how long it took! Would absolutely use them again and have already referenced them to friends/business associates.

This was first time coating for the driveway, took a lot more seal coat the a regular driveway. This was expected. They did a great job and I am very satisfied. (I called at the end of the season and got lucky to get an appointment. So call earlier in the season to get an appointment.

The Driveway Doctor was affordable, arrived on time, and performed an excellent job on our driveway.He noticed many cracks and added a mixture to the sealant which helped fill the cracks and will make our driveway last longer. I cannot offer enough praise to this man!

Excellent company. I left a voicemail and he responded that evening. We setup the appointment, and he called the night before to make sure I would be there. He showed up on time, and did an excellent job. He roped off the driveway after he was finished. My driveway hadn't been sealed for over ten years, so it really soaked up the sealant. He was very professional, very punctual, and the driveway looks great.

The work went very well. The estimate was right on, and they were on time. They even patched a little spot that wasn't included in the estimate. I was really impressed with them, and I'll use them again.

All in all we had a nice experience with the Driveway Doctor. He was here when he said he would be and we were impressed with the great care he took to make sure everything was done right. The problems our driveway was having was noted by him and he explained in detail what needed to be done to rectify the situation. We're very pleased with the results and will use his services again later this summer.

Very professional and very high quality job. Chris was super responsive and very involved -- explained in detail exactly what they do, explained how they choose the materials, was very concerned to learn every detail of the state of my driveway so he could plan exactly the right mix of materials to use. They had to re-schedule once because of weather (it was pouring rain), but he called at the scheduled time and suggested another day. On the chosen day they arrived promptly, did great work, did it quickly, explained in detail what they did and left the site clean. While they were doing the work, Chris pointed out parts of the driveway that needed additional work. He gave a detailed assessment of the work needed, and advised that we should wait until Spring to do the work because Fall repairs don't last as long as those done in the Spring. He left a very reasonable estimate -- we'll be calling him back in March to do the additional work. Overall I'm very pleased with the price, convenience, communication, prefessionalism, and the quality of the work.

Chris resurfaced our ailing driveway. He was very professional throughout the whole endeavor, and performed excellent work. When he arrived, he noticed a small part of our asphalt that needed patching. He did not include any patching in the original quote, but patched it at no additional charge. Chris came back a week later to check the driveway, and put a second coat on several parts that needed it. Again, this was something that was going above and beyond his original quote. Working with Chris was a very positive experience from start to finish. Our driveway will now be able to withstand a couple more Midwest winters, thanks to him.

Excellent experience. Chris is very thorough in his communication with us. He explained exactly what he was going to do prior to every step in the process. He inspected the crack fill and was not satisfied with the result and made several trips to apply another fill and make certain the problem was fully addressed - which it was. He stuck with his initial quote even though he had to make extra applications and inspection trips to handle the problem cracks. The driveway looks great and all the cracks are properly sealed.

The Driveway Doctor (Chris) is a true perfectionist. That's just fine with my neighbor and me as we share a large driveway, have considerable traffic and don't want sealant on brickwork, garden work or building trim. It all started with a detailed phone call with Chris about our needs, the driveway condition (pretty good with some cracking due to tree roots), surface age (10 years), frequency of surface resealing (3 - 4 years) and general usage (heavy). Chris provided detailed information on what he would use on our driveway and how he would further formulate the material with additives to meet our specific needs. He even provided the names of the materials and additives so that we could review their characteristics on the internet. He communicated and scheduled his work around the considerable activity at both homes keeping us informed of weather impact and his schedule changes. He arrived on time as scheduled and took great care in cleaning and preparing the driveway. Where other services took 45 minutes to seal our drive, the Good Doctor took 3 hours to insure every detail was addressed, including blow drying damp spots, priming cracks -- even the smallest, and filling the large cracks. Then he explained his sealant mixture approach and showed us how he blended his sealant to meet our needs. Then he carefully coated the entire double drive making sure to not slop sealant on areas we were concerned about while working the mixture into the driveway surface. The man is an artist. He called after the job to follow-up and was concerned about how the larger cracks appeared after drying. He felt he had to return and apply acrylic filler to the cracks so they would be perfect, which he did. Again, taking time to do it right and explain how long it would have to dry before foot or auto traffic. Then he used twine and Day-Glo flags to isolate the area leaving a clear traffic pattern so that we could all use the drive after the crack repair. Incidentally, Chris is an audiophile and if you enjoy music and good sounding equipment he’s the guy to talk to. He was generous with his advice and very helpful in getting helping me answer a few tricky questions. Hiring Chris from Angie’s List was one of my better decisions. We enjoyed working with him and appreciated his attention to detail. He is indeed The Driveway Doctor. Imagine all of this quality and service for the stated quote, which was reasonable, and a developing friendship too!

I called Chris to inquire about having our driveway seal-coated. He came out and left an estimate for the job the next day, and we had him seal-coat the drive the day after that - he was good about squeezing us in to his fairly tight schedule. He was very knowledgeable and informative about the product he uses, asphalt drives, and he thoroughly explains we he does and why. Super friendly guy, reasonable cost especially considering the product he uses, and I would definitely use him next year.

During estimate, it was explained just what product was to be used, and how it was to be applied. I was schooled on how to fill cracks, and what product to use (saving me money by doing it myself). Chris performed the following on the day of application: Cleaned surface, removing all dirt and debris. Primed areas that were worn down, and any cracks. Applied a heavy filler coat with Tarmax, going over every section until sealer no longer was absorbed into the pavement. Explained every step of the process and how the materials interacted to provide the best coating possible. Explained that three days would be better than the normal two, before driving on pavement. I was very impressed with the entire process and the professionalism displayed by Chris, not only in the application, but in his thorough explanation of every step of the process. I would highly reccommend Chris to anyone who is in need of Driveway sealcoating and maintenance!

We had a great experience with the Driveway Doctor on our driveway that we'd neglected sealcoating for 2-3 years. His work was far superior than people we've used in the past, usually from fliers stuffed in our mailbox, yet the price was very comparable (only $60). He explained in great detail why his materials are better quality, was very neat in applying the coating and made sure I was happy before he left. Had to stay off the driveway for 2 days as opposed to the customary 1 day since his commercial-grade products take longer to set, but that was a small price to pay for the superior quality. Will definitely use the Driveway Doctor again!

The drive way was in really bad shape and they did a great job bringing it back from the edge of death. I was impressed with the job they did. From last rites to, hey that's not to bad in 1 application I thought was a really good job. I will use this company again.

We were overdue for a driveway sealcoating, were going to use our old service, whose service had been less than stellar and a little overpriced. We're new to Angie's list and found The Driveway Doctor in our town and gave him a call. The choice of options, level of service and responsiveness were very impressive, and the work superior to the service we had employed previously. Chris is a real pro, knows his stuff, and makes sure you're happy, will definetly use again.
