Services we offer
Installation, repair & refinishing of all kinds of wood flooring, domestic & exotic, pre-finished & unfinished.
The sanding and repairs done before the finishing stated was particularly excellent. The finish was excellent. The owner only came for the estimate. I would like to have seen him some time during the work. We have recommended the company to others, the price was reasonable and finished in a timely manner.
Description of Work: They re-finished living, dining room and two bedrooms.

The estimate we were given did not take into account, that some of the floors were oak and some were maple, which would require a pre-stain (and extra cost). We were informed about this necessary pre-stain, AFTER the job had started and would cost several hundred dollars extra. We argued that we should not have to pay, because it was the estimator's error for not including the pre-stain on the maple in the estimate. The difference in price would have affected our decision, about which company we decided to hire (not Peter Flooring!). Peter was immovable. Since we had new tenants moving in within a few days, we were forced to agree to pay and continue with Peter Flooring. Ultimately, the floors look good, but it wasn't worth the extra money, we had to pay. There are other good flooring companies out there, that have better customer service and won't charge their customers for a worker's mistake. If you decide to go with Peter, make sure he does the estimate himself.

The installation went well. The trim installation went well except for one wall that needed to be realigned so the moulding was straight, not curved as installed the first time. The contractor, as stated above, deleted one VERY IMPORTANT item from the scope of work in the final contract I signed after including it in the original proposal, then tried to nickel and dime me later after work began. The final contract was not clear on debris removal. It said "removal of old floor," but did not specify whether trashing it was included. This is a dishonest way to do business with clients. I am very happy with the new floors. They look great. But I wouldn't trust this guy to do any more work in the future.
Description of Work: Installed 150 sq ft of oak hardwood flooring to replace old floors. Sanding and finishing. Installed wood base moulding as well. The overall project took four days, which is satisfactory. But that was the limit of my satisfaction. The contractor called me on the first day to ask about debris removal, which was in the original proposal. When I negotiated the final version of the contract, the contractor did not inform me that they had removed debris removal from the scope of work (it was originally included at $95). Then they called and told me it would cost $220. I spoke with the owner, who said, "This is what you signed." I told him that this was not a fair way to do business. He said OK, he would do it for $50. I didn't want to give him any more money so I had it removed myself. I am very disappointed in the poor level of communication I experienced between the owner, workers and office staff, and would never use this company again. You don't slip items out of the contract like that

I requested that they not come while we were gone. After we returned, several different crews came. None of them had read the specs for our job. When I asked for stain samples on the floor (in the specs. to match our upstairs floors) one of the guys got agitated. "Stain?!" The next day, he "accommodated" me by putting ONE option for stain on the floor. It was not even close to our upstairs floor. When I asked to see something a little darker & redder, he assured me that it would look darker with the finish coat. Reluctantly, I said fine. It finished nothing like upstairs. The biggest problem arose during the payment process. Considering this was a $15K job I wanted to inspect the floors. There were minor problems. After being repaired to my satisfaction, payment was sent. But not after several nasty phone calls from Cathy and Peter before the last coat had even dried. That said, the floors do not look half bad, just the wrong color, a long time coming and with attitude at the end.
Description of Work: Demolition of hardwood floors on first level of home (approx. 1,300 sq Ft). Installation of 2.25" T&G, white oak planks. Installation included leveling of sub-floors, light stain and finish coats. This job was riddled with ill feelings. I think partially due to communication problems, and the fact that we had no less than 5 different crews show up. The first crew was great. A few problems arose but nothing insurmountable. All seemed to be going well until they stopped showing up. After a couple of days, I called to see when they planned coming back. Angelica (always very nice) apologized and assured me that someone would be back in the next day or 2. No one ever came. On my next call, I experienced a very abrasive customer service rep., Cathy, who told me to call the owner on his cell phone. Peter told me that they were short staffed and would have someone out as soon as possible. This went on for 2 weeks at which point we had a trip planned.

The sales rep had to push our original time back 2 hours, called to let us know in the morning, which was okay. What I wasn't happy about was when he was almost an hour and a half late after moving our original time back, and didn't call to let us know. I would have been very upset had I not had the afternoon off. Gave us a very detailed explanation of what we needed to have done. Disappointed because we didn't get the quote back for almost 4 days, after I called to give them my e-mail address to send the quote to. We decided to go with carpeting instead of hardwood floors.

Representative came to house and inspected rooms where work was to be done. Received detailed estimate through e-mail in two days. Also received a polite follow-up call. We decided to have the work done in the spring rather than the winter because of some other work that needs to be done in the rooms before the floors are refinished. We plan to have Peter Flooring do the work.

Luke arrived on time for the estimate. He spent the time to fully explain all of my options for how the work could be done and what was available as far as stains and finishes. His bid arrived that day, in writing, and was very competitive. The work was scheduled promptly and done on schedule. The crew arrived on time and were also helpful in answering all of my questions. Luke did a great job of keeping me informed during the process and making sure that I was satisfied with the results.

The measurer who came out did a great job discussing all of our flooring options. Before starting, I spoke with Peter regarding our timing. Our entire house contents were in storage and would be moved in within two weeks, he agreed the project would be done in time. The crew was great and there was always someone I could communicate with. The job started on a Wed. and continued Th, Fri and Sat. On Sat, it wasn't as done as I expected b/c they had to do a lot of leveling over the concrete slab. Leveling was $700 extra. I called Peter and he assured me the job would be done by next Fri. However, I had to be proactive in getting progress reports. When I got home on Fri. night (hrs before our move) the last coat of poly wasn't applied. When Peter called me back at 8pm, he said the crew would finish later that evening & it would be dry for our Sat morning move and it was. Overall, the work was great, the floor looks great, but I had to sweat the details.

There were problems. The installation staff was capable, but project management skills were weak. A timetable for the project was not followed, and communication was poor. For example, I arrived at my condo one evening and was told I could not enter because a finish was being put on the floors. I had to find somewhere else to spend the next couple of nights.

My job is an entire townhouse. I have 6 rooms to be sanded, with new flooring added. Apparently, Peter felt that my job wasn't big enough, for him to give service. He kept promising an estimate, after visiting and taking measurements. He spent about an hour at my house, but never came back with the estimate. It appears, that Peter only wants very large jobs. The average house job, must not be important to him.
Description of Work: Peter visited my house in July, and promised to give me an estimate in 2 days. Peter was referred to me, by a General Contractor. The estimate was never prepared. I phoned him and asked for the proposal. He said, that he would get it to me soon. The proposal never came. I called him several times, and each time he said that he would get it to me. My last call was to him on Oct 9, 2006. He said, that it would take 1.5 weeks, before he could get a proposal to me, because he is working on a big job.

Get it in writing. Original contract changed and I made corrections to the contract. After work was done he added additional charges without informing me of additional costs. A worker wasted an entire day sanding balusters which produced an inferior result when I was originally told by the owner, the person who did the estimate and 2 workers that it would be easier to replace them than sand the existing balusters. According to their office it's not possible to quote the exact price of a job. Dimensions plus materials plus labor=$, doesn't seem too difficult. Peter also denied responsibility when placing flooring on 2nd. level which caused a water pipe puncture and water damage to kitchen.

THIS HAS BEEN AN UTTER DISASTER. WE EXPRESSED THE TREMENDOUS IMPORTANCE OF THEM COMPLETING THE JOB ON TIME. OUR SON HAS CEREBRAL PALSY WITH G.I. ISSUES THAT CAUSE HIM TO GAG AND VOMIT. IT WAS FOR THIS REASON WE LEFT TOWN TO ACCOMMODATE THE FLOORING INSTALLATION AND REFINISHING. THEY STARTED THE JOB TWO DAYS LATE, AND AS A RESULT, WERE TWO DAYS LATE IN FINISHING, SUBJECTING OUR SON TO UNNECESSARY DISCOMFORT. ADDITIONALLY, THEY COMPLETELY BOTCHED THE JOB, NOT PERFORMING TO THE SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CONTRACT IN ANY REGARDS. CURRENTLY, WE HAVE PAID OVER $2,000 FOR NEW FLOORING IN ONE ROOM AND REPAIRED FLOORING IN THE OTHER ROOM FROM THE OLD STOCK. WE HAVE A PIECED TOGETHER MESS THAT LOOKS TERRIBLE IN BOTH ROOMS AND NO RETURN CALLS FROM THE OWNER, WHO CAME OUT TO SAY THAT THE JOB LOOKED FINE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE BASEBOARDS WHICH WE CONTRACTED FOR, BUT THEY FAILED TO INSTALL. ADDITIONALLY, THEY DISCONNECTED OUR ELECTRIC IN THE AREA BY OUR BED AND HAVE YET TO REPAIR THIS. VERY BAD.
Description of Work: THIS IS STILL NOT DONE CORRECTLY. WE HAD THEM COME OUT TO MAKE PROPOSALS ON SEVERAL JOBS, NOT TO BE DONE SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE ESTIMATOR THAT CAME OUT WAS THE ONLY INDIVIDUAL WE HAVE SPOKEN TO THAT HAS KNOWN WHAT THEY WERE DOING, HOWEVER, THE OWNER AND WORKERS HAVE COMPLETELY FAILED IN NEARLY EVERY LEVEL OF THE JOB. OUR CONTRACT SPECIFIED NEW WHITE OAK FLOORS IN THE MASTER BEDROOM AND REPAIRED WHITE OAK FLOORS IN OUR SON'S ROOM, PLUS A REPAIRED BOARD IN THE LIVING ROOM AND A SMALL SECTION OF MAPLE FLOORING TO SAND AND FINISH IN OUR KITCHEN. TO DATE, WE HAVE REPAIRED, BUT NOT NEW FLOORS IN OUR MASTER BEDROOM, DISCONNECTED POWER, NO BASEBOARD INSTALLED AS PER CONTRACT, AND NO RETURN CALLS FOR A VARIETY OF PROBLEMS WE HAVE ENCOUNTERED. WE STILL ARE WAITING ON A REPAIRMAN TO RECONNECT OUR ELECTRIC AND FOR THE OWNER TO ADDRESS THE $2066.50 WE HAVE PAID FOR NEW FLOORS THAT ARE NOT THERE.

Response from Peter Flooring Inc
On the start day, the house was not prepared - not protected from dust, etc. We covered everything and started working; they removed the old maple and white oak as needed by stagger system, they cleaned up and leveled the sub floor (as needed), then they installed the new flooring where needed according to the contract. They sanded and colored to match the existing flooring. The finish we put on is a water based urethane-acrylic (non-yellow, non-toxic and doesn't have any smell to it). Because we knew that the clients have a child we opened the windows after putting on a coat in order to double check the house didn't smell. A day before the clients came back to town, I did speak with him to let him know that we did not have enough time to install the base boards and put on the final coat. He didn't have any problems with any of it at the time. He said he will do the base boards himself and that its fine to put on the last coat even though they were arriving. On the day of putting on the finish coat, I went there personally with the workers and I asked them again about the base board installation, but they said that everything was ok. In that case, my work was done. After a few days, they called me about the disconnected electrical outlet I already knew about. My workers let me know that few wires are not corrected. Even though I sent the same workers back to explain, I also suggested to send our electrician to fix it, they said no kitchen was ever mentioned. Peter Gasinsk

I was told the 1st day of work would begin on a Wednesday at 8:00am. When no one arrived at 9:30 I called & was told they would come about 12:00. When no one came I called again and was told they would arrive at 2:30. They finally came at 3:30. Workers put down coverings to protect the area to & from the work area but did not seal the door. Sawdust leaked from the room & covered areas of our house. The proposal I got said I would receive 3 coats of commercial based urethane. When they left the 1st day they said they had put on a sealant that was NOT urethane. Thursday a worker arrived at 8:00am and put down a 1st coat of urethane. Friday workers came in the AM & put a 2nd coat on & I was told someone would be back to put the 3rd coat on around 2:00pm. I called twice no one ever came on Friday and my calls were not returned. When we called to complain we were told a mistake was made on the proposal and we only need 2 coats, not 3. We asked for a third as proposed and it was refused.

Started a little dicey- the estimator couldn't make the appointment. Then he missed the second one. We had a few estimates from other companies but weren't really satisfied with them. When Peter Flooring finally DID show, things turned around in a hurry. We got a great price and some custom threshold solutions for some very difficult doorways. The guys completed the job in four days and did a great job. Customer service was a little spotty - language barrier was a constant issue - but the workmanship was incredible. If you're willing to take the time, you'll be pleasantly surprised by how beautiful your floors will look afterward!
Description of Work: Repair of two large sections of hardwood floor (about 30 sq. ft. each), spot repairs elsewhere, plus sand and finish all three rooms, about 800 square feet in total. Included two custom thresholds.

I was very happy with the floor. The price was great. He was way below everyone else. There were a few things that were out of his control from the floor before him that I had to deal with. He does use people who spoke little english so the communication barrier was there but it was not insurmountable. It was nothing to be put off by.

Peter Flooring was very responsive, good price, excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. Friendly. I had to clarify once about what time they were going to start the next day (they came later in the day to ensure proper dry-time), but once I got clarification on the times, I could plan my schedule around the flooring and all was well. Floors look great.
Description of Work: The wooden floors in our house (small foyer, living room, dining room) were sanded, stained, and refinished. Peter Flooring also installed new oak flooring in a bedroom. The job took about 5 days, due to drying time. Several boards (oak and pine) were severely damaged, so they were replaced. Also, since the house is over 100 years old, someone years back did a bad patch job on some of the parts of the floor. Peter Flooring fixed this patch job, making the floors look great.

We live in an older home and the floors had not been refinished by the previous owners (so not since 1940!) they were in ROUGH shape to say the least. Peter Flooring did a BEAUTIFUL job! The floors look new, the finish (we chose water-based natural) has proved tough with all the abuse from our kids and cats. The shoe molding is also wonderful. The workers were very nice and the office staff very patient with my many questions previous to having the work done. They were able to come out rather quickly and were finished in 3 days. I would definitely use them again!!
Description of Work: Stripped floors, filled cracks, varnished floors, and removed old shoe moldings then installed new. They stained these to match the rest of the trim and varnished them as well.

Peter Flooring did a terrific job. They perfectly matched new oak flooring to pre-existing flooring. Two out of three times that I met the crew, they were on time. One time they were late, but they called ahead to tell me that they'd be late. They started and completed the job when they said they would and finished the job at the estimated price. Clean-up was well done - they taped off cabinets, etc. to keep dust out.
