+ -1 moreOverall, I'm very pleased with the work that was done. I would definitely recommend their services to someone else and I will use them again when it's time to reclean my ducts in 3-5 years.
Description of Work: I have dust allergies that have gotten really bad in the last year or two. What with three cats and wall to wall carpet, there's a ridiculous amount of dust generated in our townhome. I looked on Angie's list for a duct cleaning service and saw the reviews for Mr Duct. I called and spoke with Tom who was extremely helpful. He gave me a quote for our house including several hundred dollars in discounts (Angie's List discount, check or cash discount and several others). He explained how the service would work and gave me an opportunity to ask any questions. I needed to consult with my husband before committing to have the service done and I also shopped around with a few other Angie's List listed duct cleaning services. Mr. Duct wasn't the cheapest, but they explained the service more clearly to me than any one else I spoke with. I called back the following day (Weds, I think) and spoke with Tom again. I booked my service for the following Monday. The quote I'd recieved the day prior was still the same. On service day, the guys were scheduled to arrive between 8:00 and 10:00. At 7:53 I heard the truck door close outside and at 7:57 the doorbell rang. They identified themselves at the door and explained in detail (for my husband) what they would be doing. The used corner protectors and removed their shoes each time they came in the house. They took a before picture and an after picture to show us the state of our duct work. Ernie and Carlos (?) were extremely professional, quick and efficient at their jobs. They cut a clean hole in our duct work and the patch job is actually sealed more tightly than the seams in ducts from the developer. Finally, the guys vacuumed the floor around all the intakes before they left and the amount of residual cleanup is minimal for us after their departure. the whole job took about 2 hours and 20 minutes start to finish.

+ -1 moreOverall experience was great. I spoke with Mark from Mr. Duct and he was scheduling our appointment out of the Barrington office. Orlando and Brian were on time and explained the process. They showed me before and after video of vents/ducts that have not been cleaned in over 20yrs. Plenty of junk in there. I stuck my cell phone in the vents and took some shots for myself and was blown away at how dirty THEN clean they became. Both, Orlando and Brian were professional and hard workers that I highly recommend. I would use again. Great Job!!

+ -1 moreThe sales persons were polite and helpful and ready to schedule at my first call after quoting a price. When I asked for an email confirmation of the appointment and the services they performed I didn't receive it by the morning of the appt. I called that morning and asked for it; it came without the details of service. I called again, asking for the written details of service. It never came. Mr Duct provided two workers who set up a compressor, vacuum and viper whip in my unit. They were on time and polite. They covered the floor under the vacuum but not under each duct. There were two runs. They covered the registers on one run while they removed the registers on the other. Under each exposed duct a good deal of debris came down to the floor (they said it was from the top of the exposed duct) consisting of a variety of construction dust and small debris. With all the register openings exposed, they sent a viper whip down the run and whipped the insides to loosen dirt. Since the other registers were off, it is my opinion that debris came out onto the floor from these open registers during this whipping process. They showed me a before and after with a video camera but it was so cursory, I really couldn't tell if it was a little or a lot cleaner. They did a cursory cleaning with a shop vac but I had to re-sweep, vacuum and swiffer the entire house and furniture to get it back to acceptable cleanliness.
Description of Work: Mr. Duct cleaned all the register covers and whipped and vacuumed out two duct runs. They also cleaned the coil, blower and plenum.

The men who did they job were knowledgable and efficient. They even noticed a problem with the wiring in the furnace which the repaired. They provided me with a written quote when I booked them, and stuck to that price. I would use them again!

Description of Work: AC condenser outside the house was running continuously causing frost to build up on lines into the house. Emailed and got a call back very quickly and they came out on the first viable day (had to be warm enough) to look at the unit. Quickly diagnosed the part, gave me a quote to fix and then fixed the unit. A relay switch had failed. Work seemed a bit expensive based on the time spent fixing and the part itself.

+ 0 moreCleaned air ducts and serviced 2 ac units for large home. All work was done very well, employees were polite and thorough. Issue came with coolant for ac unit, tech notified me that we were 2.5 pounds short, he notified me of the price which I thought was $8 a pound, plus 56 to recaibrate. I thought after spending 79 a unit for check and over 700 to clean vents this was a little high but agreed. When bill came it was actually over $75 a pound, costing me an additional 170 plus 56 recalbration, far to high relative to other places which threw in the coolant for free with service check up. I was in a hurry and just signed off on the pricing, but recommend going elsewhere where this is included in check up. Can't complain about work done, but that is price gouging...
Description of Work: Do use them air vent cleaning. Do shop around for ac check ups, get price with coolant included as available all over Angie's list.

+ 0 moreThey sent two people and set up a machine outside our home and connected it to the furnace inside. They showed me a before and after. It went very well. I live in a town home and have a single furnace. They also cleaned the dryer vent. They took their time it took about 3-4 hours. After they cleaned they did not adjust some of the metal plates to the original position so we had to make those adjustment. Small improvements could have made it even better for dust provision. The lead guy has been with the company for many years and it seems like he truly enjoys what he does. He stated that Mr. Duct truly use the systems that are most effective. He took his time. They use the wiper system.

They went up and replaced our furnace filter. They saw that it was dirty. My husband asked if they could replace it and they did it.

+ 1 moreAfter posting a negative review due to the fact that the workers who performed the work at my home damaged/killed three plants that were part of my front yard landscaping, I am writing to update my review based on Mr. Duct's response to my review. Mr. Duct contacted me within 24 hours of posting my review on Angie's List, offered to give me a refund on the dryer vent cleaning as well as reimburse me for the loss of my plants. The Angie's list representative who called me provided me with her direct email address and contact number, and followed up shortly thereafter with an email. She has been very responsive and helpful. After providing her with an invoice from my landscaping company, she informed me that I would be receiving a check by next week. I am updating my review due to the outstanding customer service and professionalism showed by the Mr. Duct representative who called me today and helped facilitate a remedy to my issue. I believe it reflects sound business practices at this company. I am raising my overall rating of a "B" because my issue was eventually resolved fairly and satisfactorily.

+ 0 moreUpon filling out the Angie's List preferred business form online, I received a message that I would be contacted within a few hours on the next business day... but just a few minutes after hitting send I got a call back from Tom from Mr. Duct to set up my appointment. I was quite surprised by the quick turn around but very happy to be able to set up the appointment for the upcoming Saturday at 8am. The process was explained to me and the price was discussed. Saturday morning promptly at 8am the truck arrived and two technicians got out and came to the door. Upon entering the house they put on protective booties, did a quick survey of the furnace location, where they would be able to load up the hoses and discussed how they would have to cut an access point in the the duct work to clean and extract the garbage that is in the ducts. The two young men were both extremely polite, very knowledgable about what was to be done and very clear in their explanations. The whole process took less time than was originally quoted since we do not have a finished basement (the job was much easier for them) and I was given a view via a small camera/video device of before and after the cleaning of one of the main lines. All in all I was extremely pleased with the whole process and very very happy with this company and the personnel they have working for them. Will definitely keep them in mind for future work.

They provided education about the services we needed as well as performing the work. I was impressed that they were flexible and thoughtful about working around my son's naps. They stopped work in one area to clean the ducts in his room in between naps. I appreciated this very much. I was also impressed with the follow up by the company after the work was completed. + -1 moreI called Mr Duct on Friday the 6th and spoke with Tom. He was very pleasant and helpful when getting my information. He not only mentioned that they had a $75 coupon on their website but also gave me the 10% Angie's List discount as well. He was able to get me a Monday morning appointment. The time was for between 8am-10am on Monday the 9th. The two workers showed up at 8:15 am on Monday. They came into the house and immediately put on booties over their shoes. I walked them through the house showing them the all the vents. When down by the furnace they determined that the best way to set up their system was by bringing the hose through the basement window. They asked me if I had any questions before they started their work. They were both very friendly, quick and efficient. Jaime showed me video of my intake vent and how dirty it was. After the process he showed me the same vent and all the built up dust and gunk was gone. They vacuumed around all the areas where they worked and left every thing very clean. Unfortunately we have 2 ceiling vents that were painted over multiple times. They only way to get them off was for them to score around the vent cover. Some of the paint chipped but that wasn't their fault since that was the only way to get them off to do the cleaning. I figured this would be the case. When everything was finished they took us down to look at the furnace to show us where they had to create an access hole. It was securely patched up. They also showed us which damper controlled access to the upstair's bathroom vent. We are so happy to be able to have the vent fully working in the bathroom now. This was the first time we have had the air duct cleaned and it was a very good experience and we are glad that we chose Mr Duct to do the work . We will definitely recommend them and use them again in the future.

+ 0 moreThe whole process was excellent from start to finish. I called to get an estimate and to find out how they clean the air ducts. I was given a price immediately and the gentleman who answered the phone explained the whole cleaning process. They were able to schedule a cleaning the next day, but I preferred to wait until Saturday. They were very prompt. They arrived exactly at 8:00am. They cleaned the ducts, vacuumed the furnace and changed the furnace filter. They even cleaned the vent covers. They showed us before and after pictures. And they cleaned up any debris when they were finished. The whole process took about 2.5 hours. I was very pleased with their work and would definitely call them again. I am so impressed at how clean it looks now. We also like the fact that we don't have to dust as often now.

+ 0 moreI was hesitant about spending this amount of money, but Tom explained the process and how thorough the service would be. Absolutely the best REAL service I have received. A few years back I had another air duct company come in for $125. They were here for about an hour. I should have known. Mr. Duct did a fantastic job, I woke up this morning breathing better than I have in years! I used to have to change my furnace filters once every three weeks- and I'm not talking about the cheap/inexpensive filters. So pleased I joined Angie's List and found Mr. Duct. As a single parent and woman, I am so used to being snowed by contractors, companies..etc. If they would only follow the lead of Mr. Duct; honesty and providing a true service (and punctuality) are jewels. This kind of service gets good press and positive referrals. I wish they were all like Mr. Duct! P.S I do really appreciate the fact that I was able to communicate and understand Mario and Steve. + -1 moreThey do a great job. The technicians that came out were by the name of Joe Mario and I think Jonathan. They had great customer service and they were prompt. They explained everything and they showed us the video of the duct work, like before and after. I would definitely recommend them. It was more expected than some of the other ads that you had to hear in your booklet. They do quality work and that is why I used Angie’s list to review. They did an excellent job. What they explained and what they did was worth the money. This is the first time that I used a duct cleaning service and what I noticed is the quality of work that they do is worth it. I would definitely use them in the future.

+ -1 moreIt went well. They seemed to do a very thorough job, they showed me views with their camera inside various ducts, both before and after the job. They cleaned up well when finished, they were professional, on-time, and efficient. They communicated well and the overall experience was good. There was one small problem, which is why I have them a "B" on quality, and an "A' on everything else. In order to get into one of the duct areas, they had to cut a hole into one of them in our crawlspace. They then re-closed the hole with some sort of tape. This would be fine, except, the hole was on the bottom of the duct, and due to gravity and force of air, the panel fell off. I didn't notice it until I happened to go in there about 3 weeks later, and found that we were heating and cooling our crawlspace. What they should have done was screwed it shut. I will say, they handled the issue very well. I called and told them what happened, and they had someone out the next day. They used screws this time, AND tape, and made sure it was truly sealed. No charge of course. And they were very apologetic. I don't really get upset when a contracting job has a little issue of some kind, as long as they fix it, and they did. I would recommend Mr. Duct for HVAC system clean outs.
