Description of Work: Robert came out and gave me a very good price. He knew I needed to have this work done prior to the installation of my new roof. Two days later, I noticed someone outside looking around my property. He turned out to be one of Robert's workers, who was assessing the project. Two days later, a day or so before he was supposed to do the work, Robert e-mailed me, increasing the price by 85%, and that if I wouldn't agree, he won't do the work! I had to call him for a further explanation, by which he said he needed to increase the price because, per his worker who came by, they needed more equipment. Why not come by with his worker in the FIRST place before giving the estimate? That is NOT the way to run a business, and now I'm scrambling to find a replacement while my roofer patiently waits. What a ridiculous way to treat a customer. I would NOT recommend these folks.

I think they actually sub-contracted the work. I'm not happy with the work, because the door is still sagging. There are a couple things that I don't think they did correctly. They had to fix the work. They didn't fix the problem.

Wonderful. The work was done timely and the workers cleaned up after themselves like true professionals. Their price was very competitive and I felt I received value and quality for the money. I would certainly hire them again.
Description of Work: Tuckpointed the sides of first level of the original brick structure (about 800 sq. ft. of brick) of a two-story home and installed two new glass block windows w/vinyl vents in the basement. They also re-sealed the space between the original brick and the addition while also sealing the space between the gangway and the side of the house.

Mark's estimate stood out among the 7 (all on the A list of Angies List) estimates we had done. Mark combines professionalism, price and knowledge. What they offered for the price (while still being knowledgeable) clearly outdistanced the competition so we went with them. We had no regrets as they went way beyond our expectations...they were prompt, cleaned up every day, and addressed both issues we needed to be addressed (rebuilding parapet walls, and pulling out, replacing and tuckpointing around 100 bricks on a 3 flat) plus more (redid and addressed issues all around the building as well as the garage). We were very happy with the work and would definitely use him again if needed.
Description of Work: We had Mark (Merik) give us an estimate on rebuilding parapets as well as replacing bricks and tuckpointing several places on our three flat.

Overall, we are very pleased with the results. My concern that the house would look "tuck pointed" with sloppy mortared joints became no concern at all. The house and the brick look revitalized beyond my expectations. The tuck pointing crew did a superb job, headed up by Kris(sp?) and a 2 man crew. They did a beautiful job laying consistent looking mortar. After discussing the vine with Dan and the crew, we decided to cut it back to the trunk and let it grow back over the cleaned up brick. They also had to dig back the dirt around the foundation in some places to tuck point where the walls met the foundation. Without asking, they patched and cleaned up some sloppy work done around some electrical utility pipes that went through the brick. They did a very good job of cleaning up after themselves. Our neighbors had just put in a new walkway on one side of our house and the crew was very very careful and respectful of that. No complaints from the neighbors. The painting was the smaller part of the job with a different crew doing that quickly and efficiently in about 2 days. Dan was very good about answering all my questions and concerns, in addition to responding to my emails. One note about the chemical power wash... it does burn the leaves of the plants and shrubs close to the house which at first is a little disheartening, but I notice now after a month most of the plants and shrubs have leaves growing back and our vine looks like it will survive too. I would highly recommend Mark's Tuckpointing and Remodeling. Of the 3 bids I received from various companies, we are very glad of our decision to give Mark's Tuckpointing the project. They came in at their estimate!
Description of Work: Dan from Mark's Tuckpointing is a great communicator and was very fast in returning my call for estimate. He provided me with references and answered all my questions. I live in a 1925 brick Georgian Colonial. We needed power washing and 100% tuckpointing solid on all elevations. Included in our estimate was exterior painting of all window trim (21) and front porch/portico. Also included was the removal of an old heater unit that had to be removed from the exterior wall and patched with matching brick. An exterior gas line/pipe had to be removed and capped. Our project also presented a challenge with a climbing hydrangea vine on the north exterior wall.

Estimater went out and phoned with a verbal bid. We called him back and set up an appointment to meet him at the location (a 45 minute drive from our home) a few hours later to discuss the project further. Ten minutes before the appointment time, he called our home and said he had gone back to his office and was too busy with a big project to meet us and had to cancel. He apologized and said he would try to meet us at another time if we weren't too annoyed by his cancellation. We made an hour and a half trip for nothing, and did not call him back.

The best experience that we have ever had with a contractor! Myreck and his team went out of their way to turn our disgusting basement into the nicest part of our home. They are perfectionists, reliable, unobtrusive, and stayed close to their original estimate despite a number of add-ons. They were very thoughtful about everything they did resulting in something that far exceeded our expectations.

I met with Dan. He believed that some (15) of the bricks needed to be replaced, and that I needed better drainage. He proposed to cut down and extend 2 gutter downspots, maybe a rain barrel, and to cap the existing sewer pipe. His proposal included that work, as well as replacing 15 bricks, at $900.
Description of Work: I have bricks along my foundation that are crumbling, and sometimes there is water in my basement. I contacted three companies to come out and provide an estimate as to what they thought might be going on, and what the costs would be to repair.

Perfectly. Estimator (Dan) showed up on time, and the crew did everything in the contract and cleaned up. Dan suggested a solution we hadn't considered which saved us a considerable amount of money versus what we originally asked them to bid on. Having previous experience with this company we added the tuckpointing tasks including matching some mortar from 1923. You can't tell the difference today!

They showed, up, they made the repairs in one day, I went to work and came back and it looked worlds better. Very happy with the work they did.
Description of Work: They tuckpointed the entire back of our house and spot-checked the other sides of our brick home, matching the bricks (circa 1879) so well that you couldn't tell where they had made the replacements. Additionally, they had to remove paint from the back as well in order to make the repairs.

I had several estimates on the tuckpointing work, specifically rebuilding one parapet wall. The range was pretty significant and the timing was very tight. Mark's Tuckpointing estimate fell in the middle. I needed to have the parapet work done, but did not have a budget to take the "safe" choice, assuming price = quality. The house also needed a new roof and gutters. I've had some patch work done with minor little success and ice damning issues. I decided it was best to combine these projects and asked Mark's to come out and provide a quote on the roof as well. Dan from Mark's Tuckpointing came out and provided a second quote. The quote was detailed including specifics on materials, quantities and other replacement pieces. I asked a ton of questions about the materials, order, the size of the new gutter, color of mortar, the silverized coating, etc. Dan was very responsive and professional. I called back to talk about connecting my downspout and rainbarrel and again he was very responsive and willing to work with me. It was mid-October when I signed the contract and work began about 3 weeks later as expected. Overall, the work went smoothly. The parapet wall took about 3-4 days. The roofing started a few days afterwards. By this time, the weather was very cold and wet and there were delays in finishing up the roof, gutter and downspout. There were no negative consequences...I just wasn't sure what the status of the project was. Because they were on the roof it was difficult to check in with the crew. The roofing work wrapped up December 1. It is difficult for me to judge the quality, but the parapet wall looks solid...the mortar joints are filled, the cracked/damaged bricks have been replaced. The roof is smooth with a silverized coating and I have no leaking and no gutter problems or ice damning over the winter. Overall, I'm very pleased with how the project turned out.

The work was done but there was damage to the interior of the house that resulted in water being shot into the house destroying the drapes, shades and woodwork surrounding the windows. Then it rained and all sorts of water came in through the window casings and roof where the parapet wall was replaced. Also when they sandblasted the front of the building, there was sand everywhere left behind which killed the grass and was told by Mark that sand usually makes grass grow better which he thought I would believe! When I tried contacting Mark THREE times, his office told me they gave him the message and he called back finally telling me he was busy and will get to it as soon as he can. I left another message after a week but was never returned, it's been THREE months and no word! I fixed the problem myself!

I have used Mark's tuckpointing several times and was very happy with their work and prices. They usually came in a third to almost half the price of their compeditors. Mirek may take a day or two to get back to you but once he gets the contract to you, and you okay the contract, his men are there in 24 hours or less. In my case they were there with in hours of faxing back the contract. I heard noises on my roof. I looked out, and there were six guys up there. Quick, quality work was done.
