Home Carpet One

Service was outstanding in every phase. Home Carpet One had a rep out the day of the flood and started work a few days later. All furniture was moved with little damage to the walls. The floors look great and the work was performed in a timely manner and was communicated in every phase.

Initially good. The salesman missed the first appointment but was very apologetic and promptly scheduled a second one. He was quick and efficient at measuring and following up with a quote. He recommended companies to do the necessary prep work that his company could not do. However, when we tried to get back in touch a few weeks later with some follow-up questions, we left at least two voice mail messages and he never called back. We would have called again to request a different representative but a competing company returned our call promptly and came out to give a quote. Since it was about $100 cheaper and we were having trouble reaching the rep from Home Carpet One, we purchased from the second company.

The installers were polite, they showed up on time, and the work was done quickly. They did a good job of cleaning up after themselves.

Overall the experience was good and everything looks nice. This was a multi-day job and I never knew from day to day what time the installers would show up or how long they would be here. They could have communicated better. The job also took several days longer than I was originally told it would, which I think was the responsibility of the scheduling department to get right. In addition, they didn't do a great job of cleaning up. They made a huge mess tearing out the old tile in one area, chopping it into tiny pieces and leaving shards of it all over the room. They also spilled a lot of dry grout on the bathroom floor that they didn't clean up. And they left a huge bag of trash that was too heavy for me to even lift.

Home Carpet One representatives were very courteous, professional, on time, and followed up well. Mark Gustin was a fantastic sales representative who made the entire process from flooring selection to final follow up very smooth. Both hard surface and carpet work crews were timely, courteous, knowledgeable, and efficient. I was definitely in good hands. The finished floors and the overall experience turned out great. I'm very pleased.

A staff member came to my condo on time and spent one hour measuring my unit and providing flooring suggestions. I went to the showroom to view flooring and the flooring that I was considering (based on color/price)was not even available to view or even as a sample. I was told that a sample would be dropped off at my condo later in the week. Nothing was dropped off. So, one day, while at work, I called the company and asked to speak to the man I was working with. I only knew his first name yet, I knew I would recognize his last name. The person on the phone stated that there were a couple of people with that first name and that he couldn't reveal their last names stating it was a privacy matter. Jeez. I had the person's business card at home, just not with me. I explained that I had a quote on file and was frustrated by this terrible customer service. Thus, I decided not to use Home Carpet One. There was not an actual estimate because I did not select a type of flooring.

Sales rep Meaghan Leavy was excellent and able to direct me to a cost affordable carpet for a condo we are updating for sale. I needed something in-stock that could be completed in a week turn-around time. We were told by the worker's that tiled the bathroom(different company) that the carpeters would handle the transition from carpet to tile. Meaghan informed me the look I wanted should have been addressed by the tilers, but offered 2 options available with the carpet install. We were pleased with the end result chosen. Meaghan has been prompt to quote and great with follow-up. Man sent to measure was timely and quick. Very impressed with the actual installation. They were very careful with the furniture removal and removed the doors in closet for better installation. They were very neat, bringing clean shoes to change into for carpeting and their own vacuum for end cleanup. They were prompt and courteous and I could not say better things about install process.

THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL. THEIR SALES PEOPLE ARE GOOD AT DIRECTING YOU TOWARD WHAT YOU MIGHT NEED. THEY ARE VERY HELPFUL AND TRUSTWORTHY. THEY STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS. THEIR INSTALLERS ARE EXCELLENT.

Took a little longer than expected, but contractors worked hard and I was very pleased with the work. Very professional and I felt extremely confident in them. The detail was beautifully done.

Joel and his staff at Home Carpet couldn't have been more helpful. They came quickly for a proposal, and had the work going extremely quickly. The work itself took less than 1 day, no dust, no mess.

THEY DID A VERY SUPERB JOB. I WAS VERY PLEASED.

THE WORKMAN ARRIVED 90 MINUTES LATE. THE WORKMAN ALSO REFUSED TO REMOVE THE DISCARDED TILE OR INSTALL THE BATH HARDWARE. WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION, THE COMPANY CHARGED MY AMX CARD FOR THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE BOTCHED JOB. WHEN I PROTESTED THE CHARGE TO AMX, THE COMPANY FABRICATED AN AGREED CONTRACT FOR INSTALLATION BY PLACING THOSE CHARGES ON THE UNRELATED JULY 13 TILE INVOICE, PHOTO-COPYING AND SUBMITTING PHOTOCOPY AS COPY OF THE ORIGINAL. AMX SEEING A "CONTRACT" SUBMITTED BY A MERCHANT/CUSTOMER, SIDED WITH THE MERCHANT, HOME CARPET ONE. I THEN SUBMITTED THE ORIGINAL JULY 13 INVOICE, WHICH CONTAINED NOTHING RELATING TO INSTALLATION, TO DEMONSTRATE THE COMPANY'S DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES, THE MATTER IS STILL PENDING. DON'T USE A CREDIT CARD AT HOME CARPET ONE, SINCE THEY WILL RETAIN YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION FOR USE AT A LATER DATE. THEIR TILE SELECTION IS VERY GOOD, BUT HIRE YOUR OWN INSTALLER, SINCE THE COMPANY HAS NO CONTROL OR KNOWLEDGE OF THE SKILLS OF THE PERSON WHO APPEARS.

EDDY HAS BEEN A GREAT SALESMAN AND ERIC, WHO HAS NOW BEEN TO MY HOUSE TO MEASURE AND COMPLETE THE REST, HAS ALWAYS BEEN GRACIOUS AND HELPFUL. AT ONE POINT, WE LAID OUT ALL THE EXTRA CARPET TO FIGURE OUT WHAT COULD STILL BE USED. TWO OF THE THREE INSTALLERS WERE PROFESSIONAL AND KIND AND ALL THE CARPET WAS CLEANED UP AND LAID DOWN WONDERFULLY.

WHEN I CALLED TO TELL THEM THAT THE SALES REP DID NOT SHOW FOR AN APPOINTMENT, THE OWNER CAME WITHIN 20 MINUTES TO HANDLE THE ORDER HIMSELF. GIVING US A DISCOUNT FOR OUR TROUBLE. VERY EASY TO WORK WITH AFTER THAT, THE INSTALLERS CAME ON TIME AND DID A GREAT JOB.

THEY GOT THE JOB DONE IN 2 HOURS WHICH THEY PRETTY ACCURATELY ESTIMATED. WE WERE SATISFIED WITH THE WORK THEY DID. WE HAD TWO GLITCHES WITH THE COMPANY - BOTH OF WHICH THEY RESOLVED PROMPTLY AND WITH APPROPRIATE APOLOGIES. THE FIRST ISSUE WAS THAT THEY RE-LAID THE CARPET OVER A LOOSE PIECE OF WOOD - WE COULD FEEL A LUMP UNDERNEATH. THEY RETURNED THE NEXT DAY TO REMOVE THE OBJECT AND RE-LAY THE CARPET. THE SECOND ISSUE IS THAT THEY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD FOR THE JOB AFTER WE HAD ALREADY PAID THEM IN FULL WITH A CHECK UPON COMPLETION. THEY STATED OVER THE PHONE THAT THE CREDIT CARD WOULD BE USED ONLY TO HOLD THE APPOINTMENT FOR THE JOB. WHEN I CAUGHT IT LATER ON MY CREDIT CARD STATEMENT, I CALLED AND THEY PROMPTLY REFUNDED THE CHARGED AMOUNT AND SENT A RECEIPT.

REPRESENTATIVE HAS BEEN UTTERLY UNRESPONSIVE. REPEATED CALLS (AT LEAST 2) TO REP FOR HOME APPT. (AFTER VISIT TO SHOWROOM TO VIEW PRODUCT) WERE NOT RETD. WHEN APPT WAS FINALLY MADE, REP WAS OVER 1 HR. LATE. STILL NO QUOTE 7 DAYS AFTER APPT. NO CALL BACK AS PROMISED WHEN I CALLED TO ASK ABOUT QUOTE. JOB IS MED SIZED BATHROOM, SMALL KITCHEN AND SMALL FOYER. MAYBE JOB IS TOO SMALL OR CHOSEN MATERIAL (TRAVERTINE) IS TOO INEXPENSIVE. WILL NOT USE THIS CO. FOR ANY FLOORING NEEDS IN FUTURE AND WILL RECOMMEND FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES AVOID AS WELL. WHOLLY UNPROFESSIONAL.

I HAD TO PAY FOR MASTER BEDROOM SEPARATELY @ $2000 INCLUDING INSTALLATION ETC. OTHER QUOTES WERE DISREGARDED THINKING THEIR QUOTES WERE BETTER (FALSELY). VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYBODY. DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE COURTEOUSLY AND DID NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR SAME ISSUE.

THE IN-STORE EXPERIENCE WAS VERY GOOD. THEY HAVE A LOT OF SELECTIONS THAT CAN MEET ALMOST ANY PRICE POINT. DUE TO REMODELING ISSUES, WE SCHEDULED THE CARPET TO BE INSTALLED IN TWO DIFFERENT PHASES. WE HAD TIGHT DEADLINES AND WERE ASSURED THIS WASN'T AN ISSUE. ON INSTALLATION DAY, HOME CARPET ONE SHOWED UP WITH THE WRONG CARPET. THIS CAUSED QUITE A BIT OF INCOVENIENCE FOR US. THE SERVICE GUY FOR HOME CARPET ONE BENT OVER BACKWARDS TO TRY AND MAKE THINGS RIGHT. AFTER OUR CARPET WAS INSTALLED, THEY NEEDED TO SEND A GUY TO PLANE THE BOTTOM OF OUR DOORS. INSTEAD OF SENDING A PROFESSIONAL, THEY SENT THE ONLY GUY AVAILABLE. NOT ONLY DID THIS GUY DO A CRAPPY JOB ON THE DOORS THAT I AM STILL FIXING, HE ALSO STAINED MY NEW CARPET WITH HIS SHOES. HOME CARPET ONE OFFERED TO FIX, BUT AT THIS POINT IN TIME WE WERE SO EXASPERATED IN DEALING WITH THEM, WE FIXED OURSELVES.

THE ESTIMATOR WAS ON TIME. HE ASKED GOOD QUESTIONS, AND SALESMAN (LEE) WAS ABLE TO GET BACK WITH AN ESTIMATE QUICKLY. HOWEVER, ON INSTALLATION DAY, INSTALLERS SHOWED UP AT SOMEONE ELSE'S HOUSE (WHO WASN'T EXPECTING THEM) INSTEAD OF MINE DUE TO A MIX-UP. THEY CORRECTED THE SITUATION, AND, ALTHOUGH THEY GOT STARTED 4 HOURS LATE, THEY DID THE JOB ON THE DAY THAT IT WAS SCHEDULED. THE WORST PART IS THAT MY CLOSET DOORS NO LONGER CLOSE BECAUSE THE INSTALLERS ''DID NOT HAVE THE EQUIPMENT'' TO CUT THEM. I'VE HAD FLOORING INSTALLED BEFORE, AND CUTTING THE DOORS IS SOMETHING MOST INSTALLERS/ESTIMATORS KNOW MAY NEED TO BE DONE. WHEN I CALLED LEE, HE SAID THEY COULDN'T DO IT FOR TWO WEEKS (AFTER MY MOVE-OUT DATE) AND EVEN THEN THEY WOULD CHARGE ME AN EXTRA $300 FOR IT. HE TALKED LIKE HE WAS DOING THE BEST HE COULD, BUT GIVEN THAT THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN FORESEEN BY THE ESTIMATOR AND DONE ON INSTALLATION DAY, I FEEL THAT THEY ARE NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY. LEE'S SUGGESTION: CALL A CARPENTER.

DAVE N. WAS VERY HELPFUL IN HELPING US CHOOSE WHAT WOULD MEET OUR NEEDS. HE ALSO HELPED US TREMENDOUSLY BY ARRANGING FOR US TO RETURN LAMINATE SAMPLES, ONCE THROUGH THE MAN THAT CAME TO MEASURE, AND ONCE BY DROPPING THEM OFF AT HIS HOUSE--RATHER THAN RUNNING BACK TO THE STORE (FAR AWAY FROM US). MEASURING PROCESS WAS EASY AND QUICK. INSTALLATION: DID A VERY GOOD JOB--HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING. IT SEEMED LIKE HE WAS SURPRISED AT HOW BIG THE JOB WAS. DID AN OK JOB CLEANING UP, BUT I STILL HAD TO SWEEP AND VACUUM THE NEWLY CARPETED ROOMS AS WELL AS SURROUNDING AREAS QUITE A BIT TO CLEAN FROM THE CARPET REMOVAL PROCESS (MAYBE HE WAS IN A HURRY BY THE END?). I WASN'T THRILLED WITH 2 LITTLE THINGS I NOTICED AFTER HE LEFT. CALLED FOR HIM TO COME BACK. THE SCHEDULER MADE AN ERROR (''FORGOT TO TELL HIM'' ABOUT THE APPOINTMENT!!!), BUT RESCHEDULED QUICKLY. INSTALLER CAME THIS TIME AS PROMISED, EXPLAINED WHY THE 2 AREAS WERE DONE THE WAY THEY WERE, AND CHANGED THEM TO MY SATISFACTION.

I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS COMPANY. WHEN I WENT TO THE STORE, THE SALESPERSON KEPT RUNNING AROUND THE STORE AND DID NOT TALK TO ME ABOUT ANY OF THE SAMPLES HE WAS SHOWING ME. WHEN I DID FIND SOMETHING THAT I LIKED, I EXPLAINED THAT I DID NOT WANT TO PAY A LOT OF MONEY FOR THE INSTALLATION OF NEW FLOORING. WHEN HE CAME TO MY HOUSE FOR AN ESTIMATE, HE BROUGHT A MORE EXPENSIVE PIECE OF HARDWOOD FLOORING AND TOLD ME THE AMOUNT OF THE ESTIMATE. WHEN I TOLD HIM THAT I DIDN'T WANT TO SPEND MORE THAN $1500 AND THE ESTIMATE CAME OUT TO $2000, HE SAID THAT THEY HAD LESS EXPENSIVE SAMPLES AT THE STORE. HE SHOULD HAVE SHOWED THESE TO ME WHEN I CAME INTO THE STORE. AS A RESULT, I HAVE DECIDED TO GO WITH ANOTHER COMPANY.

THE WORKERS WERE EFFICIENT AND NEAT, AND DID A FINE JOB. THE COST WAS $125 FOR THE 1ST HOUR, AND THEY WERE ABLE TO FINISH THE WORK WITHIN THAT TIME. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HOME CARPET ONE.

AT THE STORE DAVE, OUR SALESPERSON, WAS RATHER OVERBEARING AND AWKWARD, BUT WE LIKED THE SELECTION OF CARPET THEY OFFERED. WE TOOK SOME SAMPLES HOME AND THAT WAS HELPFUL. WE CALLED TO GET A QUOTE, AND DAVE CAME TO THE HOUSE TO MEASURE THE ROOMS WE WERE INTERESTED IN RECARPETING. HE SAID HE WOULD CALL WITH A QUOTE, BUT DIDN'T, AND I HAD TO CALL THE STORE TO GET THE QUOTE. EVENTUALLY, HE SENT A QUOTE IN THE MAIL. WE ORDERED THE CARPET AND IT TOOK 3 WEEKS TO GET IN. THE INSTALLERS CAME AND TOOK UP THE OLD CARPET AND, AS THEY LAID OUT THE NEW CARPET, REALIZED THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH CARPETING TO DO THE ROOM. APPARENTLY, BECAUSE THE CARPET HAD A PATTERN, DAVE HADN'T FACTORED THAT INTO HIS MEASUREMENTS. NEW CARPET HAD TO BE ORDERED; LUCKILY, BECAUSE THE COMPANY HAD MADE EXTRA OF THAT DIE-LOT, IT ONLY TOOK A WEEK. WE HAD TO ASK IF THEY WOULD LEAVE THE CARPET THEY HAD BROUGHT FOR THAT WEEK SO WE WOULDN'T BE WALKING AROUND ON JUST PADDING. DAVE NEVER CALLED TO EXPLAIN OR APOLOGIZE.

JOB 1: THE SALESMAN, LEE SCHNEIDER, WAS POLITE, KNOWLEDGEABLE AND NO PRESSURE. THE CARPET INSTALLATION (DONE WHILE I WAS OUT OF TOWN, NO LESS!) WENT PERFECTLY. I HAD THEM DO THE STAIRCASE AT MY HOME AS WELL --THAT WENT PERFECTLY. JOB 2: LEE HELPED US TO PICK THE MOST COST-EFFECTIVE CARPET. HIS INSTALLERS WERE FAST, EFFICIENT AND CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES. I WOULD USE THEM A THIRD TIME.

VERY PROFESSIONAL, NO GAMES WITH THE ESTIMATES, AND PRICING WAS GOOD, RELATIVE TO THE OTHER QUOTES WE RECEIVED.
