Checkmate Movers

It went great. I got a call from Kevin the day before saying he could come earlier than we had agreed on. They arrived on moving day and got right to work. They were courteous and efficient. Everything got moved in one trip, and the whole thing ended up taking only 2 hours, instead of three.

The movers showed up about 15 minutes early. I took them around and showed them everything that needed to be loaded. I wasn't too sure that it was all going to fit but they got to work right away. They organized before loading anything. They broke down what needed to be broke down. They were in constant communication - asking questions and directions - on what was a priority. In the end the trailer was loaded perfectly. I had no worries about anything shifting or ending up being damaged on my long drive. They got everything loaded in just over an hour - right on with the estimate. I highly, highly, highly recommend this company. The workers were total rock stars! They were all very courteous, efficient and professional.

Overall it went pretty well. The men worked hard and steadily. They also cheerfully moved furniture upstairs and into different rooms when I changed my mind about where something should go. I was less satisfied with their packing as small things like my boys toys and my favorite pencil would fall on the floor and the packers just stepped on things like that. Still the task was huge and they did accomplish it cheerfully.

They were great. Very friendly and professional. Whole job took about 1 hour and 1/2. Only moved 8 blocks away.

My place is minimally furnished but they seemed to have no problem with a smallish job. When I had to reschedule on Friday for a Monday move, they were willing to do it (it was an off-season move). It took 2-1/2 hours including the time they drove from their office about 4 miles away, and they arrived 10 minutes early. They were courteous and helpful and fast, and they decided to use the stairs when they saw my elevator was small because it would slow the move down. I have no complaints. Their estimate was accurate (when you consider some unforeseen obstacles which slowed them down). They also billed on the half-hour, which I appreciate. I will definitely use them again. They were pleased when I said I'd write them a good review on Angie's List.

By far the best movers I have ever used! I highly, highly, recommend them! I am a Realtor and I will recommend that all of my clients use this company.

Kevin and his team were great. When I called and explained what I needed done, Kevin explained the process, pricing, etc. We scheduled them to come out within 10 days. They arrived at 10:10 am for a 10:00 am appointment, pretty good and got right to work. Kevin, Cory and Justin wrapped the big screen TV in padding and plastic wrap and worked efficiently to get the item out of my neighbor's basement. They were careful and knew what they were doing. It was especially challenging to work around some curves in my stairwell to get the item into my basement, but Kevin and his team worked carefully and posed good solutions. I am actually amazed they got it to work, given the tight space constraints! It was a very pleasant experience and I will definitely use Check Mate again in the future.

Three guys showed up on time. They were friendly, quick and careful. I plan to hire them again to move the stuff back in once the remodel is complete.

It didn't fit through the door, so they had to take it over the back deck railing to the second floor. They did a good job. They were reasonably priced. The only problem with them was that they were 3 hours late, didn't call, and it drove me nuts! Make sure to tell them to call if they are running late.

David, the head of the 3 guys they sent, was courteous, professional and friendly. They arrived on time and got right to work. They finished in exactly 2 hours literally! We couldn't believe it. No hidden charges and if David questioned the stability or condition of any piece, he asked us before he even touched it. It came out to the exact price Justin had quoted to us on the phone, when I scheduled the move. This is a very straight forward company. My only criticism was, that I called to confirm the move, instead of them calling me to confirm it. Nobody wants the fear in their head the day before a move, that the company may possibly not show up. Other than that, it was 100% perfect! Would recommend to anyone! They were top notch.

Had to play telephone tag a bit, but they called back promptly. Very nice to work with. Showed up at the end of the day, after doing two other moves. Two of the guys were old pros at this, and were training a younger one. They had a very difficult time moving the TV set upstairs; it eventually took all three of them. They charge for transportation time, but it was minimal since I live three blocks from their office. Crew was friendly and polite, and FAST! Their office also called to let me know when they were on their way, which I appreciated.

The crew from Check Mate was great. Arrived right on time, wrapped all of our furniture securely and worked very efficiently. Provided the use of several wardrobe boxes to make the move that much easier. They moved us into our new condo so quickly and quietly that our new neighbors even mentioned that they hadn't realized we had already moved in. Finished the job with 15-30 minutes to spare, so our bill was less than the very competitive price quoted. We'd definitely use Check Mate again.

We had a good experience. They actually brought an extra guy on halfway through the move which was helpful. They were careful with our materials and belongings and asked questions when they weren't sure. We did get started a little later than I thought we would, but it still worked out okay. The $1200 includes tip as it was super hot that day.

Movers were very good with the desk. They also handled a very negative parking situation at the condo professionally, even though it made more work for them. Team leader was professional and courteous, explained insurance well, etc; I think the crew could have been a little more careful with my boxes, which I packed myself and were not covered by the insurance.

Arrived 1/2 hour early (great!), were very personable and professional, moved my items non-stop (no wasted time!) until we finally convinced them to stop for water (it was hottest day of the year so far). 3 movers, all equally attentive and careful... creative problem solvers when large bookcase wasn't going to make it down the stairs. Finished right at the lower end of the estimated time on budget. No hidden fees. These guys made it look so easy but it was really very, very heavy stuff.

I highly recommend Check Mate Movers. They were on time and they completed my move faster than they initially estimated. I hired them because they gave me the lowest estimated price for my move and to my delight the actual cost of the move was lower than their initial estimate. This is by far the best moving experience I have ever had. Three men did all the moving. They packed some odds and ends that I had missed for no charge. They had to maneuver some tight spaces on the stairs in both the apartment I moved out of and the home I moved into. They were creative, careful, and organized. Nothing was scratched, dented, or broken during the move and they were careful not to mark the walls or floors. They arranged the furniture and put the bed together. Great job for a great price.

The move took longer than expected and the movers objected to putting boxes and furniture in their respective rooms. Also, an item of furniture that I had specifically asked them to protect, was moved unprotected and got dirty as the result. Overall, I was not impressed with the quality of work. I would not used them again to move expensive furniture, but would use them for book boxes and such because they are reasonable priced.

They were actually a couple of minutes early for the move. They had me moved in two and a half hours. They were very efficient and polite. I would definitely use this company again!

Office answering was helpful and clear - they returned my call within a couple hours. I scheduled a Monday move on the previous Thursday, and was able to book a little more time at the last minute. Crew was polite, clean and professional. They were efficient - no wasted time or dawdling.

The move was arranged one day prior to the move. Three guys arrived on schedule and worked incredibly hard. No tip was requested - unlike other movers I have used before. I did tip each man generously, due to the difficulty of this job. Even though the cost was more than I had expected, the job was very difficult, and I was very happy.

Bill and his crew were professionals. They moved everything quickly and carefully. We completely underestimated the job but they did what would have taken two days in 4 hours. They were polite, understanding and did great work for a good price. I would recommend Bill and his crew to anyone moving. It is important that YOU pack EVERYTHING to make their job easier, and quicker.

Good value for the move. Brian & his crew were polite and worked well together. Though boxes were labeled, we found boxes in various rooms throughout the house. I'd use them again, as I liked Kevin's business approach and service.

Excellent price and excellent work. These guys did not stop once for a rest, even though I was asking them to. We have a huge staircase leading up to our second floor and they did not even flinch at it. They took great care packing the truck and even shrink wrap the beds, couch, and any other nice furniture for you. Not one item was broken or damaged.
