AAA-1 provided a written estimate about a week after taking our call. The job started less than a week after they received the deposit. The job was originally supposed to take two days; however, we asked for additional work to be done and the job extended into a third day. Very impressed with the knowledge and professionalism of the three man crew. Scott Borre stopped by each morning to make sure the job was going smoothly and let us know how the job was progressing. AAA-1 tried to find parts for our old, rusted out flue damper. With our approval, they ended up installing a new flue damper and tuck pointing the fireplace hearth inside of the house with fire proof mortar. Other additional work included supplying/installing a flue hood for the fireplace chimney, supplying/installing four new sections of flue tile; spot grinding and tuck pointing a few step cracks around the house; limestone caulking where the brick house meets a sidewalk. These additional services cost $2,020. After the work began, we realized that we had forgotten to mention an Angie's List Coupon. $500 was deducted on the final invoice.
Description of Work: Dismantle fireplace chimney, including cracked cap, down to flashing. Rebuild using the original, cleaned bricks; pour a new cap. Dismantle top half of furnace chimney, including cracked cap. Rebuild using new bricks and a prepared cap. Estimate, $5910.

They were the only outfit to give us a written estimate. They weren't the cheapest but their contract, which they lived up to, was very detailed and precise. Also, they offered a longer chimney guarantee than the other companies which had given us estimates. They showed up as scheduled, with a large crew and completed the work in a single day. They were so clean that we didn't even notice that they had been there. We were impressed that they found old bricks to match the color of the ones already on our house and agreed to work in some limestone pieces, again to match the rest of the brickwork. Both the salesman, John, and the foreman, Andy, were a pleasure to work with.
Description of Work: Tuck pointed parts of two external cracked walls and rebuilt chimney from the roof line.

AAA responded within a day, and came out that afternoon. The gentleman looked at the crack, and told me that his crew was a minimum of 6 men, and that the job was too small. When I asked him what he recommended I do, he advised me to have a new gutter installed, and told me that if my husband was handy (I'm single) that he could caulk up the crack. While I really appreciated his telling me the truth about what needed to be done, I have to admit that his attitude kind of rubbed me the wrong way. That notwithstanding, if I had a big job, I'd probably contact them again.

They were extremely responsive. They were able to get back with us right away and it was really easy getting an estimate from them. The estimate was right in line with the final cost we paid. The workers showed up on time when they said they would. They also had the work completed when they said they'd have it done. We will use them again for future work. We would recommend them to others.

We requested a quote over the phone and sent pictures via email. They promptly responded with a detailed quote. Two other quotes were obtained; theirs was the most comprehensive and the lowest. They were also the easiest company to deal with. This was a small job that many other contractors don't want to deal with or they overcharge. AAA's responsiveness was great. The work was scheduled within 24 hours of our request, weather permitting. The work was performed as scheduled and as quoted. The area was kept and left clean and all debris was hauled away. We received a bill for exactly the quoted amount on a timely basis. Overall, we are very happy with their performance.

Excellent work. Assessment and estimate were prompt and accurate. Work was delayed a few times due to weather, but once conditions were met, the crew completed the work in a efficient manner. They prepared the site well before the job, and left the premises cleaner than when they started.

Robert was so responsive to our needs, going as far as coming to meet with our condo board and explaining the process in great detail. The work was completed and done well and the workers were clean, neat and polite. I appreciated that the work was performed only when the weather allowed for ideal curing and Robert's follow-up once work was complete and questions arose. I would recommend them to anyone. They are not the cheapest but I have complete trust that they only perform work that is necessary and I am confident that should any of their work present a problem, Robert would stand behind his work in his calm and always-pleasant manner.

Frank and his crew were fantastic. They did great, professional work, from the estimate to the final bill. We had a problem with a crazy neighbor, and Frank and the workmen were patient, respectful and cooperative. They were also very patient with our questions about the work. I highly recommend this company!

Our job was a bit unusual in that I live in Pennsylvania and I'm helping my elderly brother with repairs on his home in Chicago. The great thing about Angie's List is that I have access to local workmen while living 800 miles away. John Serafini was the one who gave the job estimate. He was great to work with me and the times that I could be in Chicago. Since my brother is not well and could not oversee the job, I needed to schedule the work when I could be there and take care of things. John came out in July for the estimate and we scheduled the work for October, which would be my next trip to Chicago. He promised the work would be done and his workman were there on time and very skilled at what they do. I do want to recognize Emil and his crew for a job well done. The red mortar on the front of the home matched perfectly and didn't look like a patched job. They spread a tarp down to catch most of the debris and even cleaned the neighbor's side of the sidewalk-job well done.
Description of Work: The chimney was repaired by replacing broken bricks in various places and mortaring as needed. Spot tuckpointing was done to defective and open mortar joints on brick work on the front of the house, the porch wall and column, and the front sills. Spot tuckpoint was also done to repair a large cracked mortar joint on the side of the home. All joints were ground out before the new mortar was applied. Two colors of mortar were used - red for the brickwork, and gray for the sill area. The colors matched perfectly to complete an absolutely perfect job. Emil and his crew were very professional and hard working from the moment that they arrived to their very thorough clean up. A job well done!! I would hire them again and recommend them to anyone! Thank you so much for helping me complete a challenging job from 800 miles away.

I am very pleased with there work. They had everything done in four days. They were very careful not to harm the landscaping. They kept me informed of everything daily. I have a wrought iron decoration that was hanging on the wall. I had taken it down to have it sand blasted and glazed. They told me that they would build the wall and wait until it was done. When I finally called them they came out the next day and put it up for me. There work is great, I would recommend them any time.

It took over a week to get my initial call returned. When he showed up, I was very impressed with Robert and the time he spent talking to me about the project. That was Aug. 22 and I was told to expect a written quote the following week. I followed up by phone and was told it would be coming and then I e-mailed. It's Oct. 3 and I don't have anything. From the reviews, it looks like they do great work, but dealing with estimates in a timely manner doesn't appear to be a forte.
