Home Comfort Systems initially thought that we must have had a power surge because the electrical breaker had flipped off. We were unaware that was the problem. Once we flipped the breaker back on, the unit worked fine for the rest of the day. However, over the next few days the breaker kept flipping to the off position. Home Comfort Systems came back the day after I called them and installed a booster to the condenser. The A/C has worked perfectly ever since. We are getting a quote from them for a new A/C since ours is close to 20 years old. We have not decided yet if we will replace it this season or wait until next season. I definitely recommend Home Comfort Systems. They are prompt, professional and reasonably priced.

Steve was very prompt in returning my call. He came out the same day to give me an estimate on replacing my old central air unit. His price was very reasonable comparing with other companies. This was in addition to his very high customer satisfaction rating on Angie's list (why I called him in the first place). He did not try to up sell anything I don't need. He also offered 10 year warranty parts and labor on everything he installed which sealed the deal. His crew came out two days later and installed the new AC system. The new AC works great and seem more quiet than the old unit. Can't wait to see my next electric bill to find out how much money I saved. I highly recommend Home Comfort system and will be calling them when I need service or replace my furnace.

Excellent service, excellent price

We were looking to replace our 25 yr old furnace and 15 yr old AC unit. We met the owner, Steve Bilica, at a local home improvement show and were impressed with his presentation, knowledg and professionalism. He also showed us the excellent reviews that he had received from numerous Angies List customers that were very happy with his work. We scheduled an appointment with him for the following week. After evaluating our heating and cooling system, he presented us with three options. A single stage 80% efficient furnace and 13 SEER AC, a single stage 95% furnace and 14.5 SEER AC, and finally a 97% 2 stage variable speed furnace and 14.5 SEER AC. He was very thorough in explaining the differences and pluses and minuses between all 3 options. We also got estimates from 2 other highly rated companies from Angies List. Before making our final decision, we had additional questions, which Steve again came out to the house to answer them and to ensure that we fully understood how the system would work. Our decision was the 97% 2 stage variable speed furnace and the 14.5 SEER AC unit.By purchasing this combined system, we also qualified for an energy rebate from Nicor ($520) and Com Ed ($350) which reduced our overall cost. Steve and his 2 installers arrived promptly on installation day. Steve left after ensuring that his installers thoroughly understood the scope of work. Both installers were very professional and very knowledgeable. They completed the install in about 9 hours. We are very happy with the system and how it maintains a more constant temperature on all 3 levels of our house. Finally, I recommended Steve to my father-in-law who was in need of a new furnace and AC unit. After comparing Steve's pricing to two other companies, he also decided to have Home Comfort Systems install his new units. He is also pleased with how the install went and how the new furnace and AC are operating.

Their price was reasonable. There's none better, it's the service you got, they go out of their way to try to help because right now it is a really busy season and he's been working from 8 A.M. to 4 A.M., he's working all night, he got people who need a kind of service like this, there's a lot of people who don't have any air conditioning right now and he's still getting people worked in the best he can. Always courteous, always clean, he was an "A" on the list when we first looked at it and we got him there.

Steve met with us and we were impressed with his presentation. He gave us a quote and we decided to have both done. He was very helpful, courteous, on time and the workers did a fantastic job. They were polite, cleaned up and answered all my questions. I would definitely recommend them to anyone inquiring about furnaces or air conditioners. Steve and the whole team were wonderful.

After obtaining estimates from 3 different companies I decided to go with Home Comfort because of the quality of the product, the cost, transferability of the warranty, and the detailed explanation of the various options provided by Steve, the owner. The crew showed up on time, there was a small mix up on the replacement furnace but that was resolved very, very quickly. The old furnace was removed and the new on installed in a couple of hours. Since this was in January I was concerned about how long I would be without a furnace but it was not a problem. The workers were very courteous and helpful. The new furnace has been a great this past winter. It is much quieter than the original furnace and more economical. I would highly recommend Home Comfort for any HVAC needs.

They were very professional, they put the booties over their shoes so they wouldn't get the house dirty. they cleaned everyth single thing up that they did, you'd never know that they were here. They were very polite. They did a great job, the furnace works beautifully. Came back in May of 2012, cleaned and service the HVAC unit for no charge for the first service. They also came back again in September 2012 to clean the furnace to get it ready for winter. They came again May 2013, cleaned the A/C and serviced it as well, and they'll come back again in September of this year to clean and service. We have cleaning and servicing on a yearly charge, which the cost of is very reasonable. I would recommend them to anyone!

It went perfect, they were so professional and cleaned up EVERYTHING when they were done...my contractor working in the house at the same time was very impressed with their work also.

Mike Bilica and his co-worker called to let us know they were coming. In addition to the usual routine maintenance they oiled the blower motor. They fished out an undersized air filter used by the previous service folks. Mike also carefully cleaned the evaporator coil. The contrast between Mike's work and the earlier service provider is marked. I will certainly call on Mike again for any future air conditioner work.

Steve showed up at the scheduled time and went over the work to be done with his two installers. They put down tarps to make sure that my carpeted stairs did not get dirty. They pulled out the old hot water tank, furnace and whole house humidifier. They removed all of the unnecessary wiring and tubing that had been added on through the years and re-plumbed the gas lines. Since it was a two stage furnace the installer gave me a choice of how let the furnace run.By either letting the two stage thermostat run the furnace or by letting the board on the furnace run it. I thought it was very nice that he took the time to explain the two different ways and let me decide what was best for me. By the time they were done everything looked 100% better. There were no loose wires. Everything was neat and professional. You would not have known that they were there by the time they cleaned up. The nice thing about Steve was that he went through my house to look at all of my vents and ducts. He gave me some suggestions and options, but did not try to sell me anything I didn't need. I would definitely use his services again.

Last week both of our units went out during the 85+ degree days. I called Home Comfort Systems and left a message. Steve, the owner, returned my call within the hour - changed his schedule to come out to our house that day to look at the job and provide an estimate. He was very professional and courteous. My husband and I both liked him immediately. Steve said he would not take a down payment/deposit nor would he accept any money until the job was done and we were happy. Obviously he is confident with his work! We had an estimate from another company, but thought Steve's price fair, with an upgrade in quality of the outside units. New concrete slabs were put in and they did a great job making everything look neat. The crew showed up on time and worked all day until the job was completed. We were very happy with this company and will use them for any of our heating/air conditioning needs.

As usual, great service from Home Comfort Systems. Complete job was done in under an hour. They tell the truth and don't try to upsell you stuff you don't really need. I even got a $10 discount for giving them the flexibility to show up any time during the day. These guys are my #1 choice for anything heating or A/C related.

Our basement was flooded with 4+ feet of water. Called Home Comfort once we were able to get the water out. Steve came out to our house that very night and took a look at everything. He was concerned because the tempurature was about to drop (the day of the flood it was 70 degrees. The next day -- the day the furnance was installed -- temp only got up to 35). He rearranged his personal schedule to ensure we had the new furnance and water heater installed the very next day. His crew showed up on time (actually even a few minutes early) and were very polite. They kept us informed of everything they were doing and even reminded us to take pictures for the insurance claim. They worked all day and before they left they showed us everything the did and explained how it worked. They left the furnance area cleaner than when they arrived (remember the basement was flooded). All of this prompt and personal attention while he himself was dealing with the same flooding issues we were faced with. This is a fantastic company that my family and I have used for over 30 years. They always do what is right and in the best interest of the customer. Steve did NOT try to sell us the most expensive furnance We could have easily spent an additional $1,000+. All reimbursed by insurance, so really would be an easy profit for any other provider. He made sure we had the right furnance for our house. They stand by their installs 110%. I would never even think of calling anyone else. If only I could rate them higher than an"A" . .

I called during regular business hours the next week to set up for a furnace cleaning appointment. I will definitely use them again.

On the day before, Steve and Mike arrived on time. We went to my basement to look at the problem. I'm a mechanical engineer, and we spent probably 30-40 minutes that consisted of mostly me satisfying my engineering curiosity and asking them all of the questions that I had. We talked not just about the problem that they had come to troubleshoot, but also in general about how the HVAC system works and interacts with the house. I really peppered them with questions and they were more than happy to teach me everything they know. I think I had solved my humidity problem before the appointment, but they taught me a few things that will save me from damaging the home with humidity by letting the programmable thermostat drop the winter temps too far during the day, which could cause condensation damage. They confirmed for me that the return ducts should not have holes in the basement for any air balance reasons and told me how I might repair it myself. I really want to stress that they answered a ton of questions that were not really even related to any specific work that they might perform or money that they might make. Since my furnace is original to the house and we knew that it would have to be replaced soon, I accepted Steve's offer to get a quote on a new system. He took the time to explain some of the technical aspects of the systems to me and gave me a quote. In its entirety, Steve spent 1.5 hours with me. I was expecting some type of bill because of all the consulting that they provided me which was related to the service call, but he left without requesting any money. I was really impressed with the level of knowledge I saw during the visit. Steve really has a passion for HVAC systems and I believe it will show if I decide to go with them for the new system. So far they have exceeded my expectations.

We have a townhouse which is currently unoccupied. On a routine check, we discovered that the furnace was not working and it was 40 degrees in the house. We called Home Comfort and were rewarded with a quick response. Several questions, asked over the phone, determined the problem. It wasn't exactly an emergency,as the house was empty,but Michael made time between other service calls to come over and replace the part. He waited to insure every thing was in order and even followed up with a phone call later in the day to make sure all was well.

Earlier this month my parent's furnace while functioning, was not sufficiently heating the house. It was 5:00pm, and the first major snowstorm of 2013 had just started. The temperature of their house had slowly dropped to 62 degrees during the course of one day. I was faced with the ugly prospect of fighting rush hour traffic out of Chicago during the storm to check out the situation. Fortunately, I had chosen Home Comfort Systems from Angies List in 2010 when purchasing a new furnace for my parent's house in the suburbs. I called Home Comfort and I discussed the current situation with the company owner. After asking me a few questions, Steve immediately offered to drive in the storm to the house. Within the hour, he had inspected the furnace, confirming the fan motor wasn't functioning properly. He called me to say he was able to maintenance the furnace so it would continue heating the house, but that his company would replace the motor within 24 hours. As promised, the furnace was repaired the next day under warranty at no charge. As with the original installation of the furnace, Home Comfort Systems exceeded my expectations with their incredible customer service.

Recently bought a home that had the original furnace and a/c (circa 1984). Steve came to our house on Sunday and gave us an estimate. We decided to go with their services and scheduled the install for the same week. The install crew showed up early and worked diligently. They installed a new concrete slab for the a/c, the a/c, furnace, and thermostat. They finished the job before lunch! They cleaned up nicely and even haled away the old furnace and a/c. Before leaving they carefully explained all of their work, how to set-up the warranties on-line, and the various features of the thermostat. I have already recommended them to a co-worker who lives in the same community.

The igniter on my home's American Standard furnace went out on the nearly coldest night of the year (night before the MLK holiday Monday). I called around 9:30 P.M. and the answering service picked up and said that Mike would call me back shortly. I didn't have to wait long and Mike was on the phone, trying to diagnose the issue over the phone with me; trying a few things as he made suggestions. He could tell over the phone that it was the igniter, and within about an hour, Mike was on my doorstep and within 10 minutes my home's heat was restored. What a lifesaver!! Mike was pleasant and he didn't even charge me the premium for a night-time service call! D***, you can bet I'll be going back to Home Comfort Systems again! And they could have charged me a whole lot more than they did: the total fee was about $135.

Great service. Will call again!

Apparently the end of September is their busy season and I felt that the technician was in a big rush. So I am not sure that the work was done properly or thoroughly. I've used these guys before and have been satisfied, but I will not have them out to my home again during their 'rush' season of early Fall (I don't know when rush season is for their a/c work).

Steve came out and quoted the job after I spoke with his brother Mike who gave me a few idea on how to improve air flow. He did not charge us until the job was completed to our satisfaction. Steve was 100% honest with us and very professional.

He claimed that I needed 2 parts to repair it. Each of these parts cost $400. He then said that I might as well purchase a whole new one for $2500. I let him know that was too expensive. After receiving another estimate, I learned I was able to have only 1 part replaced at only $120 by another vendor.
