Olson Windows Doors & Siding

My wife and I knew it was time to replace the roof on our house, and wanted to do some windows and a new sliding glass door at the same time. After making several phone calls, we narrowed our search to Olson and two other company's. They all came out and gave us complimentary quotes, that were all within several hundred dollars of each other.The main reason we selected Olson Windows was the work process explanation, and comfort level we both received from their salesman. He was very knowledgeable on the products, as well as the install process. Once the work began, it went exactly as described with no surprises. Installers were very professional, and left our home as clean as they found it. We love our new Pella windows and door, and would highly recommend Olson Windows to anyone! Scott

The salesman did a good job informing me of options and selling Olson as a company, almost to the point of overselling. Naturally, I had high expectations around customer service. I ordered the window in November and it was installed in February. I totally understand installation is dependent on weather and issues happen, but to wait that long with no follow up or check in was unacceptable. I had to chase down my invoice and warranty paperwork after installation.

After some initial communication problems, Olson took the initiative and sent another person to provide another estimate. Punctuality and professionalism were both very good. What particularly impressed me was that he advised me that it would be less expensive to have the manufacturer replace part of the windows rather than having Olson replace the whole window, even though that meant that Olson wouldn't get the business and he had to have known that he could have talked me into replacing the entire window had he wanted to. That sort of honesty impressed me, and while I will not be using Olson at this time (because it turns out that I don't need to), they will certainly be the first people I call the next time I have any window/door/siding issues.

Unfortunately, my low review is based on the communication/customer service by Olson and the timeliness of completing the project. We signed the contract with Olson on May 20th, 2014 and, at the time of writing this review, are still waiting for the project to be completed. Zero confirmation or time frame was provided once the contact was signed. The installers arrived without any prior notice and I needed to alter my schedule at the last minute. We have been waiting 3 weeks for a painter, provided by Olson, to paint the installed windows. Having called Olson three times about the painting, I was left with empty promises that the painter will be contacting me within 24 hours. I'm not sure what goes on in that office, but I get the impression requests by customers simply go into a shredder and are forgotten about. On the final follow-up, I was simply given the painter's phone number and told to contact him directly. Thanks Olson. On a positive note, the installers are very professional and efficient. They did a thorough check of the window frame. 3 of the 4 windows were installed in a half day. Overall, if you want solid installation of windows in a drawn out process, Olson is your company. Be sure to allow lots of time for the project to be completed. With a baby due in 2 weeks, we thought 3 months would be a sufficient time window. Now, we are crossing our fingers it will be done.

Very good experience. Mr. Olson came out and showed me all the options. There was none of the pressure selling that you get from Anderson Renewal. It took a little longer to get installed because of the weather. I was skeptical of installing new doors covering the whole back of my house in January, but I was able to be in the house while the work was done and it never got too cold. The workers were courteous and did a fantastic job of installation. I can't believe the difference the replacement of the sliders makes to the comfort of the house. No more drafts. I am thinking of having them do more work with windows.

By far, Olson Windows provided the best pricing and service options out of all window contractors and window manufacturers. Replacing windows can be a very time intensive process due to the numerous options available; vinyl, aluminum, fiberglass, wood; and all different types of cladding options. Also, attempting to determine to do a full window replacement vs. a pocket window replacement can be very confusing. Olson Windows helped my wife and I through the decision making process in a very un-biased and factual manner. After visiting the showroom, we decided on James Hardie Beechworth Windows (James Hardie is is a very well known company that has just begun to manufacture high end fiberglass clad wood windows). Our decision was based on: 1. Quality of the Window (Fiberglass outside; wood inside) 2. Window Design and ease of operation 3. Physically viewing the different window options, available materials, and window cross-cuts 4. James Hardie reputation and Made in America Designation (Beechworth is manufactured in Wisconsin) 4. Olson pricing compared to other companies and window direct manufacturers The install crew (George, Rich, Happy & Tammy) were prompt, meticulous, and efficient and were able to install the windows over a 3 day period. The only small snag in the installation was quickly fixed through great partnership between Olson and James Hardie Beechworth Windows. (There was a slight ordering issue with some window grids). Finishing (painting all new interior window trim) took one additional day; however, the work completed is amazing! The house has been completely transformed! The attention to detail was phenomenal; the Beechworth windows look amazing, and are extremely easy to operate and clean. I'd recommend Olson for their pricing, window selection, and professional installation and would recommend the new Beechworth windows for anyone that is looking for best in class replacement windows that rival and in some instances far exceed high end competitor fiberglass-clad window offerings. We will use Olson for future replacement door needs! Great work Olson!

These guys were great--very professional. Came on time, when they said they would. The workers were very polite and courteous. They did an awesome job installing the windows in my home. Had an issue with one window size but they got it corrected immmediatley and everything went great. They cleaned up good too. I would recommend them to anyone needs windows, doors or siding. Thanks again Olson for the great job.

Things went great. Install went as planned with no surprises...we hardly knew they were here at times. Very professional and on time. I have recommended them to others I know. Keep up the great work Olson!

Great service from sale men scott to best installer I ever saw. Pay attention to all our needs and very detail about work from beginning to end of project house looks GREAT THANKS. Never had one problem done right first time

Travis came out to our home, on time and was very professional and knowledgeable. He provided good information on what we should consider when replacing our windows. He spent time to measure each window individually and also spent time on the outside of the home to insure that I understood all the options as well. He quickly provided a written quote that was complete and easy to follow.

This brutally cold winter caused our sliding glass door in our family room to shatter and crack. I contacted Olsen and they came out the next day to look at the door and provide suggestions for a replacement. Dave came to our home to provide suggestions and a quote. Because of the urgency of the project, we didn't really price shop around but have heard from friends after the fact that their prices are high. We did have an Angie's List discount which helped. We ordered the door to include panes in between the glass which we talked about extensively as I wanted the door to look nice and was willing to pay the additional cost. Received a call to install and scheduled - my husband was home in and out during the day of the install. After everything was installed, we realized they installed the WRONG door in that it didn't include the panes between the glass. Not sure how the door even got on the truck delivered to our house since no one did a quality check comparing the door to our order. Dave wouldn't tell us who made the mistake - Olsen placing the wrong order or Pella in creating the wrong door - but either way Olsen was responsible for getting us the correct order. They did offer us a great deal to keep the existing door (which we did) but I just wanted the door I ordered. Yes everyone makes mistakes but come on your business is doors - where are the quality checks? What if I had ordered all new windows and that order was wrong? We actually are in the market for new windows and would have considered Olsen but will look elsewhere.

I called Olson because I wanted to remove my current basement door and widen the opening for sliding glass doors. After looking at it they thought it would be a bad idea and could disrupt the foundation and cause water to get in during heavy rains. So I decided not to move forward with the project. I did think they were great, very professional and helpful. If I am looking to replace windows and doors in the future I will definitely contact them again.

It went well but not without problems. The greatest challenge the installers had was with the large curved window over the entry door. That said, they came up with an excellent plan both for the removal of the old window (without breaking it) and the installation of the new window. This is the second time I have used Olson and they will probably be used to replace the remaining windows in my residence. I don't think they are close to the least expensive, but the quality of the products (Pella Designer Series) and the excellent/professional installations make them well worth it. I have repeatedly learned you get what you pay for and with Olson you seem to get more. When problems arose, they addressed them to my satisfaction. Finally, one of the greatest challenges with this work is matching the finishes (in our case a yellowish Oak) on the new trim to the existing and these guys have again done a great job.

I did not get the estimate on the same day. The price is too high for one window.

Delivery was on time; installation was supposed to be Friday. Friday morning Olson said rain delay and suggested the following Wed; I objected because I had already taken down window covering. After some discussion, they said could do it Sat. AM. Everything went fine. The workers did a fine job and even fixed a siding issue that was not part of the installation.

Salesman was professional in his presentation and knowledgeable about available products. He helped us work through all of the possible door options that were available. Installation was professional, the quality of work is evident. I like the fact that they talked us through some of the challenges that they had. We were extremely satisfied with the results and would hire this company to do work in the future.

It was a standard size but I have had them do other doors and windows in the past as part of a home renovation. We are very pleased with their work. Not only does the door look fabulous, their installation team was clean and fast. They replaced the trim around the door and had a painter come and patch/paint the nail holes the same day. You couldn't even tell they were here - vacuumed up both inside and outside the work area. I would use them again and highly recommend them.

He did an excellent job. They were very prompt, courteous and very neat.

The sales team was fantastic. They responded quickly via phone and email when needed. We were informed that it would more than likely take 3 days for installation once the windows were delivered. The installation team (2) installed all 9 windows in 2 days. They were very professional and not a speck of dust was left in my house when they were finished. We have one more (picture) window left to do and will definitely call them when we are ready to have it replaced!

Although we didn't go with this provider at this time, we felt that the service was great and the price was fair. Easy communication by email or phone.

Best price, best product, best decision This is the second time I have used Olson windows, and I have always found them experts in windows, great with advice, and very competitive in price/product. Brian was excellent in advising us on the choice of window, gave us impartial advice on other manufacturers, and provided great advice on the color. Dealing with Brian has always shown his professionalism and expertise. The installers went about their work with minimal fuss in cold weather and finished the job very efficiently

The question posed is How did it go? The answer is fantastic! Dave came out to our home to show us several samples for the french sliding door and kitchen window. The french door is a marvin door and the window is pella. As with any construction project, things occur. Once the kitchen window was installed, the crank handle was located high up and to the left. you needed to be 6 feet tall to open and close the window. Upon calling Olson to explain our concerns and to figure out a solution, they were fantastic. Some companies would blame the customer, the manufacturer...someone but not Olsen. They immediately addressed my concerns and in no time a new window was installed. Do not hesitate to use Olsen window and doors. As we replace the rest of our windows and doors, Olsen will be our go to company. honest and integrity filled. Great job and Thank you Olsen and Dave!!

We have decided to use another company for reasons that were no fault of Olson.

Easy to deal with. Good price and quality installation. Will do business with them again.
