I met the guy in town and figured I would give him a chance. My car's A.C. was on the fritz. I contacted them and he said, "Sure we can get that done for you." I clearly stated that I was going out of town in a few days and I needed my car. "No problem", he replied. So, I called him the day after I dropped it off. He tells me, "the part we needed didn't arrive, so your car won't be done today". Then, I was stuck without a ride to work, nice! The following day, the car still isn't fixed. At this point, I am livid. When I finally tell him, "put it back together, I need to go out of town." This Drew guy, who owns the place, tells me, "The deflector door, we thought was the cause was replaced, but it still isn't blowing cold air. We probably need to replace the compressor." So after all of this labor, around eight hours worth, the problem isn't fixed and the root cause still is not positively identified. He tells me, "When you return from your trip, bring it back in". Did he expect me to pay for the same labor and have him and his team of " trained and certified technicians" start over? In reality, I am supposed to pay them for doing nothing! Frankly, I was shocked when he asked me to pay a bill. They didn't fix anything! On top of it all, he tells me, "I topped off your freon too", then proceeds to charge me for that. The freon was never the problem! Lesson learned! I will never ever go there again. If you choose to go to them, kiss your money goodbye.
Description of Work: They were to repair the A.C. in my vehicle. The completion date was overdue by a few days. When I finally got my car back, the A.C. still didn't work, but I was stuck. I needed the car to return home for my niece's high school graduation. Knowing the car was not repaired and nothing was done, they had the audacity to charge me $650 for parts and labor. Yet, nothing was fixed. It was the same as it was when I brought it to them. I have since had it repaired in my home town. The A.C. works wonderfully now. It cost me $100 to get it repaired. The cause of the malfunction; a disconnected wire! In short, Nielsen's Auto Repair charged me $650 and could not identify a loose wire. I will never ever again take anything to them. Additionally, I will tell anyone who will listen to avoid that place like it's the plague.

My boyfriend and I had used Nielsen's for several years without incident. Prices are fair with accurate estimates given when asked. I have always received an itemized bill when paying. Loaner cars are available and while not in "tip top" shape, they are reliable enough to get me to work. The owner and all employees are capable mechanics. The owner even gave us wonderful advice on things to check for when shopping for used cars. That being said, the last time my boyfriend brought his truck there (just for an oil change), they not only failed to do the work, they never even opened the shop for the day. He dropped his truck off in the morning before work and returned that afternoon to find the business locked and vacant. Luckily, he had the owner's cell phone number and called him, only to be told that he had his entire staff helping him with some personal work that day. However, he would have someone come by to unlock the door so that my boyfriend could retrieve his key from the drop box. No one ever showed up. After waiting for over an hour, I finally drove the 20 miles to the business to bring my boyfriend his spare key. The next day, my boyfriend returned to retrieve his key. This time the business was open, but the employees were unapologetic about the incident and the owner was not around. Neither of us has been back since. We were saddened by this experience because up until that day we were loyal customers, impressed by the level of service we had always received. I'm not sure if we'll ever be willing to give them another chance.
Description of Work: Routine maintenance/oil changes, tire service, replace solenoid, transmission flush, brake repair.

I took my van in on a Monday, July 18, 2011, because the AC was making a loud noise and was not cooling. I told the service people that the compressor and clutch were under warranty and they called and confirmed this. I called on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and was given the run-around about forgetting to order the parts, the parts weren't in, etc. Finally on Thursday, I told them that I was driving out of state on Friday and I wanted my van. They had loaned me a "loaner" but it was in poor shape and the Check Engine light was on. I went to pick up my van at 11:00 am on Friday, July 22. At 11:45 they said it was done. They gave me a bill which was not itemized in any way. I paid the bill, told them I wanted the parts and left to drive 200 miles. As I am driving, I receive a call on my cell phone from the man who had created this non-itemized bill and he said he had made a mistake on the bill and it would be $300 more. I have called and asked for an itemized bill and have put a stop-payment on the check until I receive an itemized bill. ALL VERY FRUSTRATING!!
Description of Work: Neilsen's installed an A/C compressor and clutch after having my van for 5 days.
