The work was meticulously done, but the "crew" was only one guy, and the job took a whole month.

The quality of the physical products is very high. But let me be clear - I hired these guys because they appeared to be the least incompetent, not because they were the best. The first time they were scheduled to be at my house, they contacted me half an hour after I expected them to be there to tell me weather wouldn't allow installation. I had to harangue them to provide me with 24hr prior notice of the time they'd appear. Installation was not complete, service was lousy. I'm still fighting to get all my warranty info and to get screen door installed. There is NO consideration for the fact that I'm the customer or that I work for a living (how do you think I'm going to pay for these overpriced windows?). There is ZERO effort put into communications with customer. Every time something needs to be done, my schedule is secondary (at best). I found their salesman to be unprofessional.
Response from Home Town Restyling
"Thank you for your review. We are very surprised and sorry to hear we were not able to complete your job to a 100% satisfactory level, but we are happy that you appreciate the high quality product. We apologize for any misunderstanding on our part. We do show record that my sales rep contacted you on February 13th asking if there was anything left to do on the job and you stated that "everything was complete" and you proceeded to pay the final balance which we agreed upon at the time the order was placed. My sales rep was unaware that there was still work left to be completed. In regards to the scheduling, unfortunately we are at the mercy of the weather. We try to make the process as easy as possible and allow our customers to decide if they would like to be home for the installation or just let us in at the start of the day or leave a key etc. We strive for 100% satisfaction and it saddens us to hear we fell short on your project. Thank you once again for your feed back we will use this info internally to improve."

I had called around 7 different contractors to get estimates for the work. Home Town Restyling quickly returned my call and set up an appointment to come do the estimate. I was extremely impressed with their quote process. It was very detailed and they give you the quote before they leave unlike the other contractors who took anywhere from a few days to over a week. Also the amount of information and detailed questions they ask during the quote process was complete night and day difference from all of the other contractors. They left no detail or question unasked. The quote process alone separated them from the others. Other contractors simply measured the doors and said they will send me the quote not asking me any questions as to what options or features I want. Probably intended to underbid and jack the price up later. Not with Home Town, I knew the exact price with everything detailed in the quote before he left. They even walked me through install process and what to expect. Also included in the quote was to cover replacing a portion of the subfloor which was likely going to be rotted (it was) due to the cheap French doors. Thanks Beau you did a great job on that. So we went with the extra wide Sunrise doors (Wisconsin style as Beau described it to us) for both upstairs and downstairs with the upstairs having the built in blinds. Before our estimate appointment I decided to stop in to their showroom to see the product in person. Beau showed me the doors and went into great detail about everything including the engineering design of the doors which I appreciated being an engineer myself. He also showed me the quality and energy efficiency of the glass with their heat lamp test which was impressive to see the difference in types of glass. So between the demo in their showroom and the quote process it made my decision very easy on which contractor was getting the job. Beau is a great salesman. Ok so after sealing the deal they ordered my doors which was around a 10-12 week wait as the vendor builds everything to order which I'm okay with. I feel that results in better quality products than something being mass produced overseas. After seeing other recommendations on here for Bill doing the installation I asked if Bill could install mine. Glad I did. Bill did a great job.. He was very attentive to every detail and made sure everything was done perfectly. For a guy who takes the time to French curl his mustache I kind of figured he would leave no detail imperfect on the install. It took a couple of days for the initial install and a few followup visits for some trim/finish pieces to be ordered. Thanks Bill. As for the product itself I am pretty happy. We could immediately tell a difference in the temperature in our house. The doors are solid and so far no leaks unlike the cheap rotting French doors they replaced. They are pricey but very well engineered and the fact that they come with a lifetime transferable warranty means I don't ever have to worry which made me okay with the price. These are not the cheap mass produced doors you see in the big box stores. Overall I was quite happy with the work that Home Town Restyling did. If I had to find a critique I would say they could improve upon their communication post quote to finished install a little bit. I would definitely consider hiring them again on upcoming future projects.

They responded quickly, made a decent quote, were professional (I did need to contact a separate masonry for part of the chimney work [Marv Pesek Masonry, Inc.], because they don't do this [chimney flue extension]-- but once that quote was done, they took over coordinating scheduling with them) & because of their (very) busy schedule-- even though the contract was listed as being done around 9/21/2016, they didn't start until 10/14/2016 & then they worked a couple days, had to stop for a couple days due to weather/supplies, started again, repeat-- they weren't able to finish until around 11/2/2016 (when original quote stated it would only take 3-4 days to complete). The price was fair, although, there was an add-on cost for the chimney chase cap that we hadn't discussed. It looks great now that it's finally done (chimney raised, new cap, siding replaced, attic entry-- all aspects of what we originally discussed). They cleaned up well (although they left stuff; ladders, wood, etc., in my backyard while they weren't working for days at a time). Thankfully it was my backyard in an area I couldn't see well (& it was cooling out, so I didn't need to mow) or I may have been more annoyed at this.

I worked directly with the owner Wayne Winn on the concept and the estimate. He was very respectful of me and took me seriously as a female homeowner making all the decisions. When I thanked Wayne for being so respectful, he said "Why wouldn't I be? Your happiness is my next customer." Sadly this isn't always the case for single female homeowners. The first estimate I got for the same work was more than double of Home Town's bid and the contractor made me feel very inferior. The guys at Home Town were awesome to work with, very professional, and extremely neat. They were always friendly and answered any questions I had, no matter how trivial. I was also impressed with their attention to detail My dog like them as well and they even let her outside a few times! I highly recommend Home Town Restyling. They're awesome to work with and far exceeded my expectations for the addition. It's a seamless transition from the dining room to the family room. You'd never know the room wasn't original to the house when looking at it from the inside and the outside.

When Tom came out to do the estimate he was very professional and understanding of our needs. He was able to answer all of our questions. Tom was very easy to communicate with and returned calls and emails promptly. When the guys came for the install they showed up on time and got right to work. They took care to not track snow and mud in the house. They cleaned up after themselves each day. They treated our house like it was their own and they didn't treat us like just another job. We look forward to our next project with Hometown Restyling.

As with any large remodeling project, it always takes longer than you hope.  But Wayne Winn at Home Town provided the best overall experience for any project we've ever done.
What we appreciated most was his communication.  With many contractors you wait for days to get response to calls and questions.  Wayne always responded timely.  Other contractors say they'll show up certain times or days, you defer your own schedule and wait and they don't show and you can't get ahold of them.  Wayne always kept his and his workers schedules, or would call us, apologize, and update the schedule.
Wayne was extremely accommodating of our design changes.  When we saw the draft drawings for what we first described we wanted, and we realized we didn't like that, he calmly listened to our new ideas and restarted the drawings.  When we added new features or other changes along the way, he would listen and coach us on how that may or may not work, and had suggestions for something even better.
The quality of work provided by the Home Town team is exceptional.  The attention to detail by every member was awesome.  There was no rush and throwing things together just to get it done.  Everything was done right.  If there was an "oops", they'd come back and fix it. No questions.  Ever have contractors leave for the day with sawdust and trash laying all over the place?  Wayne's workers swept up and organized things EVERY DAY before they left.  That attention and care to the project really makes you feel good, not just during construction, but about the result as well.
If you watch a lot of HGTV you'll probably feel Home Town is a bit expensive.  We hear the prices mentioned on TV and wonder how they can get it done for that, in California, or anywhere else in the country.  Home Town may be higher.  But we believe you get what you pay for.  You want cheap, you get cheap, in quality and service.  You pay more, you get better quality, you get better service.  For us, Home Town was an excellent value.
This Sunroom was a large project. But we also had Home Town replace worn out windows.  Even added a new window in a dark room.  The window looks like it had been there when the house was first built.  It matches perfectly.  Concurrent with the Sunroom we had a dirty old wet bar replaced with a clean modern one.  It's beautiful.
Wayne holds his subcontractors to the same standards of communication and organization that he expects from his own workers.  The ones we dealt with we also recommend; Duball for electrical, Valenta for plumbing, Colony for HVAC, and Glass Concepts for custom glass.  His subcontractors for drywall, sorry don't have his name, and artistic Joe for painting, are also excellent.

For any remodeling project, we would highly recommend Home Town Restyling.

Our salesman, Tom Casey was so good at giving us a variety options for our housing repair needs. Our poor cedar lap siding was riddled with woodpecker holes and the original '86 windows were leaking like sieves.  As we will retire in the next few years, Tom totally got our concerns. Tom allowed us to pick our options without any pressure. We enjoyed their showroom to look at the project as a whole. It was very important to us that when the project was done, we would not have to do anything.
When we signed up for the project in July, we knew that Home Town was extremely busy. Tom was very diligent in keeping us posted when our project start went from late September to early November.  We liked the fact that they have their own installers and were insured when it came to installing our 80"h x 90"w front window, 15' off the ground. This was a huge concern for that it was done safely.
The large front window went in smoothly with redesign help from Tom. Casement to sliders and a transom on top really gives us a better view of the sky. Their wood look vinyl windows matched our wood trim perfectly. No work for us once it was done.
When the replacement vinyl casement window was not set to the wife's concerns for blinds it was changed the next day. She also loves the sleekness recessed crank out handles on the casements. The rest of 7 casement windows went in perfectly.
The siding installers were craftsmen working in winter conditions. They also were concerned about us being happy with the job. They checked every day for any concerns that we had. Minor changes around the garage door trim. Good materials must be installed right. They did the job.
Yes, we would hire them again. We would just start earlier. Craftsmanship is in high demand.

The service they provided was great!  They responded quickly to our request for a quote, and they were able to fit us in the schedule in December.  Their pricing was honest and upfront (no hidden fees or extras for small pop-up replacements).  Their customer service was fantastic; after we signed and agreed to the job, we realized we had made a mistake on one of the windows (originally slated to be replaced, but we just needed it re-capped).  The office hadn't ordered the windows yet, and they worked with us to correct it without a problem.
They completed all the window work in two days.  They did a fantastic job, and they explained all the details of what they were doing.  They answered all my questions and concerns.  During the process, they made sure I was involved in some of the questions that came up.  For example, the previous homeowner had mounted the shutters on the picture window directly to the window frame, and mounted the mailbox to the shutter.  The service guys brought it to my attention, and they made sure we were happy with the solution of leaving the shutters off the new windows and re-mounting the mailbox in a different location.
They were very diligent in cleaning up as they worked, and they were conscientious with protecting the surrounding areas.  They brought a thick quilted tarp to lay down on the floor to protect the hardwood floors.  As they cut out the window on the inside of the house, they vacuumed up all the wood splinters and insulation pieces.  They left the house just as clean (or perhaps cleaner!) as the moment they arrived.
They explained some of the details in the installation process which made a difference from some other installers.  They placed screws in all the corners and in the sides of the windows, laid insulation between the window and the sill, and caulked all around (inside and outside) the window.  They were careful to leave open the right areas to allow for drainage to keep the window sill from rotting.
I would trust Home Town Restyling for a future window or re-modeling project and would recommend them to anyone else looking for the best!
