With the first call to each mover I explained the big pieces and some concerns we have about moving into the new house. Owner came and estimated the job at a fair price and seems more reputable that the other 5 offers we got. Price was in the middle of all offers. First day move was the top 2 floors of the house, on a Friday. The crew was not a primary crew and it showed. thry were delayed in getting to our house since some people called out and they had to find replacements. They complained and took long breaks. After talking to the office staff, we were reimbursed some for their lack of professionalism, as it truly doesn't represent the company. I originally cancelled day 2 of the move, but really believe it was just bad luck with that particular crew, and not a representation of the company. I expect things to get broken or scratched, and we had to get the company repair man out to refinish 2 pieces due to scratches. Repairs were OK. I wanted to give them another chance, and was very glad I did. The 2nd day crew was fabulous! They arrived in Ga Pack and Load branded trucks (unlike the first day), worked and worked, took great care of our items and were fun to spend the day with. They even were able to get the huge cherry gentleman's chest up the turn in the stairs with not damage to the piece, the stairs, or the wall. Based on my experience on day 2, the office staff, and the owner, I will recommend this company. Just like anything, anyone can have a bad day, but what they did to overcome the bad say was exceptional.
Description of Work: 2 day move (3 miles away) of a 5 bedroom house, with a full basement. VERY heavy and complicated pieces include a 6ft by 6 ft solid cherry dresser, large home gym, upright piano and many other heavy pieces and office furniture.

From start to finish, they were awesome! Our first quote was based on us packing all boxes, etc. and then they would move all boxes, lamps, wall hangings, and furniture. When this estimate exceeded our budget, they helped us determine the best things for us to do to help lower the budget and we completed those items. We emailed questions we had during packing and they responded quickly with practical advice. On moving day, a 5-man crew and two trucks arrived on time, worked quickly and efficiently, yet with great care to move all of our household furniture and three offices to our new residence. Everything requiring assembly, disconnect/reconnect, etc. was completed without any issues. They even reconfigured furniture in a room so that needed outlets were readily available. Their initial bid, less what we planned to save based on work we could do to help us stay within budget, was within dollars of what the actual cost based upon the hours it took to complete the job. No hidden fees, no surprises!
Description of Work: Moved furniture, including two three offices, from Buford to Alpharetta.

First, I sent much of the information below to my contact at Georgia Pack and Load. After two attempts, and over a week of waiting, I have not received a response. When we arrived at our destination, we found about a half-dozen dishes that were chipped or broken, and the glass of one of our large pictures is cracked. Most everything is now unpacked with the exception of a few boxes. I suppose this isn't a large amount of damage, however I think much of this could have been prevented had the packers done a more thorough job placing things in boxes. My impression of professional packing was that a crew would come to our home equipped with specialized boxes for plates and glasses, etc. However, I noticed that the kitchen items were packed in very large boxes, with most items wrapped in paper, but otherwise simply piled one atop another. Our non-stick pots were not wrapped, and other metal items were placed inside them. Our pictures were packed three to a box, with no padding or paper between. (On the scheduled packing day, the packers did not have picture boxes and so this was left up to the loading crew to finish the next day.) After the packers left, I did go through the boxes myself and firm up some of the taping around the boxes, especially the wardrobe boxes where there were large open gaps (which can be susceptible to much dust in an ABF move). We paid a three-hour minimum charge for the packing crew, however the crew finished and left in little more than two hours. For at least a half-hour (if not more) of the time they were there, two of the three packers were relaxing in the van outside while one of the guys finished up in the kitchen. One drawer was left unpacked (though I do recognize that I should have checked every drawer before the packers left). In short, it seems to me that there was plenty of time, given the three-hour minimum for which we paid, to do a more careful job of packing and protecting our items. I was originally told that the packing and loading would occur on separate days because the packing crew consisted of mostly women who were not as efficient for loading the truck. Our packing team was a crew of three men (nice guys), but I do wonder if they were primarily "loaders" who were sent in lieu of a more experienced packing crew. Last year, around the same time, my family and I moved via ABF from the west coast to Atlanta. We did our own packing. We did not have a single broken item. I say this because based on this experience we would definitely not hire a professional packing team in the future. Based on reviews we read on Angie's List, we expected something a bit more organized. For what it's worth, we were quite happy with the truck loading crew. As this was our first experience with professional packers, I don't have anything with which to compare our experience. However, given that I have not received any response from the company, I would not recommend them or use them in the future.
Description of Work: Packed several rooms of our home and loaded all of our belongings into our ABF truck.

Not bad overall. They worked hard and got it done. One guy destroyed a table. Thought that insurance advertised on Angiesnwould cover it but there is a $300 deductible and nightmare claims process. So unless they destroy something really expensive, dont bank on that full replacement half truth. In the end, we split the difference, so they worked with me somewhat. My only gripe is that is was pure negligence and the foreman agreed. Should not have had to splitnthe difference, but I understand how it works.

They packed us in one day and did an okay job. A few small items were damaged or broken and several things were just "dumped" into a box. A separate crew arrived day two to load, move and unload our entire home. They brought 6 men and 3 trucks and knocked everything out in one long day....not even stopping when it began to drizzle. Very impressive crew. They took great care not to damage anything and worked hard all day!

First I want to say everyone was friendly from the first phone call to the very end. The crew arrived ahead of schedule to pack me up, which was nice. We walked through the house and Otto and Drew asked me to point out what was to come and what wasn't. I had a large pile in the living room which wasn't to be packed plus other rooms had multiple items as well. I am not sure why we bothered with this step because after the move was complete, everything that I had said not to be packed was. Obvious items were not packed up that needed to be. I ended up with 45 large trash bags that I had to either throw away or donate after I unpacked all the boxes. I have also had to make arrangements to have my other items that were left behind sent down to me. I take partial responsibility on the missed items as we did do a final walk through. However, as anyone who has moved knows, your focus probably isn't in the here and now but rather what the next step is in the moving. In regards to the packing, I can't say it was bad, but a lot of items were just put in boxes and not wrapped in the paper, so the obvious happened and items broke. My attic was packed up as well, and rather then pack items in new boxes, they used the old boxes the items were in. These had all been unpacked from my previous move and then just put up in the attic for storage. All they did was wrap tape around the old boxes, some of which were torn or just not solid or secure. My estimate was for approximately $5500.00. I was assured that I wouldn't get charged for any boxes not used or if the total time wasn't needed for packing. As it was, I paid what the estimate was, even though I know I didn't use all the boxes anticipated and the crews time. I believe I was actually going to be charged more, but when I pointed out my estimated price in writing , which stated "will not exceed" Drew ended up calling the office to question that. I am glad that I kept all of my correspondence. I will say that using the movers for packing reduced stress on the initial pack in Georgia, but totally increased stress and frustration once my destination was reached here in Florida.
Description of Work: The first day they came and packed up my house. Second day they loaded up the truck and then on Wednesday they met me at the new house and unloaded the boxes.

They were absolutely fantastic and I was very impressed.
Description of Work: They moved me from 1 home to another. They packed all of my belongings from my son's garage where I was storing things. The truck they brought wasn't big enough, and I did call the General Manager because I was upset that they'd have to charge me for another trip. They said not to worry, and that they would only charge me for the time that it took to make one trip. They were extraordinarily accommodating instead of pushing the problem onto me.

Georgia Pack and Load went above and beyond all expectations. From the initial scheduling, to the follow up, to the team and actual move, it was a great experience. Mike, Chris, and DeMarco arrived AHEAD of schedule and took a tour of the home, asking questions and making plans for the break-down, pack up, and move. While they arrived at 9:15, Mike suggested we not start the clock til 9:30, which I thought was admirable. Once we got started, they guys worked quickly and efficiently, even though they were dealing with a steep, narrow set of stairs and lots of bulky antique furniture. They even moved our elliptical with ease. They were pleasant and professional throughout the experience, even though it quickly became a warm afternoon. They constantly asked questions to make sure we were on the same page with how items were being wrapped, loaded, and packed. Once we were packed, they followed my husband to the new house. They were so awesome and patient with me while I stopped them with each piece of furniture to put pads on the feet (we had JUST had the floors refinished that week!). They unloaded each item carefully and placed it just where we asked. I went out and got lunch but they would only take the quickest of lunch breaks before getting right back to work. They spent about 5 hours with us. Nothing was broken, damaged, lost, etc. and best of all, we had a great time with what could have been a really not-fun day. I cannot thank Mike, Chris, and DeMarco enough for their professionalism. If we have to move again in the near future, I will definitely call GP&L, but until then, I will recommend them to everyone that asks!

The movers were delayed an hour and a half, because of traffic getting to my home. This put us late cleaning up to leave the house in good order at 6:30 p.m. The movers were diligent in getting furniture sealed and on the truck. Some items had to go in my van, because we ran out of room. Delivery was on time at the new house. Upon delivery, 2 bedroom canopy beds with consoles were set up incorrectly. Consoles actually put on backwards with the back of the bed panel not put in place and the electrical not hooked up to the recessed lighting. As this furniture is so heavy, there is no way for me to personally remedy. One of the bed posts was scratched in 3 places. The movers were in a rush toward the end of the delivery, I think because of a tight schedule to be back in to Atlanta. Miscellaneous items were chipped; however I expect some small damage when I move. So overall this was a good experience for the amount charged.
Description of Work: All employees were very responsive to all inquiries and quotes. Moving folks were courteous to us and sealed all important items.

Got there on time and started out working very fast and it was going well. Started to get a little sloppy/disorganized when breaking down beds and moving large furniture pieces though but moving out was still OK until I discovered that they RUINED the carpet in the basement tracking mud. They did not even try to lay down something, no attempt whatsoever, instead just tracked muddy feet and muddy hand truck all over the basement. Not just a small spot, no, it was the whole room. I was speechless. I had to spend an extra almost hour trying to call their manager, call the buyer of my old house, call the carpet cleaners, etc. (which they later DID NOT deduct this time from my hourly bill even though they were sitting around waiting for me to handle the carpet cleaning). The manager is paying for the carpet cleaning no problem, but I had to waste time on moving day dealing with their sloppiness. Then, they did not pick up every single thing from our old house but instead went out to the truck and acted as though they were done while my husband carried out the odds and ends that were left in each room (small boxes, some larger kid toys, some tools, etc.). At my new house, they bumped up the walls, lost the center post to our queen bed support, scraped the front of my dryer, pulled the truck into the small driveway and then drove all over my front walk and grass to try to get out of the driveway. They did have to move a lot of furniture up stairs and it was a tough job and they mostly did well but near the end there was one man (Mike) still working while the others just sat around and smoked cigarettes. I asked them to move some rubbermaids for me since only Mike was working but I was still on the clock, and they laughed at me and said they were finishing up. They hooked up the washer backwards so that the hot and cold were mixed up, and they left my dryer hose at the old house so I couldn't wash laundry until we went to Home Depot and bought another one. Overall, I was very disappointed because this company was the most expensive and I thought based on Angie's List reviews that they would offer top service but this was not an experience that I would repeat or recommend. I felt they were not prepared for the difficulty of the job and also they charged me for at least an extra hour that they were not working (at the end and during the carpet fiasco). *** Wow! I just logged in and saw the response to my posting and just want to clarify that none of my statements were untrue or exaggerated whatsoever! I am flabbergasted that I am basically being called a liar by this company. The carpet was cleaned and resolved but I stated that in my first review as you can see above. The estimate came in almost exactly what was quoted, NOT $500 less than the quote (where did that come from - totally fabricated), and I was pointing out that what I paid included some non-working time which was TRUE so therefore should have been less $. The responder does not know what occurred between me and the movers so of course cannot comment on whether they laughed at my request or not. Which they most certainly did! I was just mildly annoyed about this experience but you can be sure I will now go out of my way to make sure my friends and family hear about this! Wow.

Response from Georgia Pack & Load Moving & Storage
We are never happy to hear when we dissapoint a customer. But, some of Mrs. [member name removed] statement is not entirely accurate. We did accidentally track mud into the basement when we were moving items from the basement but we did not RUIN the carpet as stated. Mrs. [member name removed] contacted me as soon as the problem occurred and we apologized profusely for the accident. I asked her if she had a carpet cleaning company that she preferred and she said she did. I asked her if she would call them and set up a time to clean the carpet and that we would pay for the cleaning completely. She didn’t sound distraught at all and seemed very pleased at how easy it was to get this small issue handled. I even suggested that we wait until the new homeowner moved it just in case it were to happen again and she said that was a good idea. As it turned out the new homeowner was going to have some other work done and wanted to go ahead and get the carpets cleaned prior to move in. At no point during the move did we stop working while this issue was being handled. The guys continued to work and she even complemented on how well it was going. The entire process to set up the carpet cleaning took approximately 30 minutes. As for the contents that were left, we always do a walk through with the customer to determine if we had gotten everything. Sometimes homeowners do have hidden storage areas that we are unaware of which is the case with this move. The missing piece to the bed was found, it was just put in a drawer, and taken care of. The guys were still taking things into the house as some guys were folding pads on the back of the truck when she asked the guys about the plastic tubs. I can assure you that nobody laughed at the customer and told here they were done. Again, we are never happy to hear when we disappoint a customer, and we always go above and beyond what is required to do what is right. I can assure everyone that although this move may not have gone perfectly it is not near as bad as it has been portrayed and we even came in $500 cheaper than estimated.

Brandon and his crew of five appeared on-time on May 7, with two 26-ft trucks, at our old home on the east side of Cumming. I showed them what was to be moved, and to which room in the new home, and they started right in, labeling where needed, with no further guidance. The upstairs furniture went first, quickly, followed by the main floor furniture and rugs. Some furniture disassembly was required here, mostly bedroom furniture. The basement items raised some interesting issues; my tools are not light, and neither are the two large workbenches. I also had several toolboxes, all heavy, and a two-piece tool roll-around, to be moved. The team cheerfully attacked the moving of all these items, even though some had to be taken outside and up a slope to get to the truck. The loadout took approximately 5-1/2 hours, and I have absolutely no complaints. Everything went into Georgia Pack and Load's storage facility for approximately 10 days. On May 13, I called Georgia Pack and Load to schedule delivery of everything to our new home on the far west of Cumming, and requested Brandon and his crew again because they'd done such a tremendous job in the loadout. Brandon and crew arrived as scheduled on May 15, on time (about 9:30), and after a brief tour to identify the rooms, they began the unloading and reassembly process. This was completed in a little over four hours, without a hitch. Again, no complaints or issues. I would cheerfully use Georgia Pack and Load in the future if I were to move again. Their attitude, promptness, skills, and dedication to the customer are beyond outstanding.
Description of Work: Moved us from a 6-BR, 5-B home to our new 3-BR, 2-B home, with a 10-day trip to a storage facility between leaving the old house and moving into the new house.

It went very well. They were courteous and careful in their work. I was pleasantly surprised having less than stellar experiences with movers in the past. Everything was carefully packed, loaded, and unloaded. I would definitely use this company again. The driver was also an expert at maneuvering the large moving truck around the tight parking lots in my apartment complex.
Description of Work: We moved from a 2-bedroom apartment to a one-bedroom apartment and storage unit. The team had to climb four flights of stairs but went above and beyond what we asked them to do, which was a pleasant surprise. When it seemed the storage unit at our new apartment might be too small, the team worked diligently to rearrange things in an amazing way just to help save us the cost of an additional storage unit.

Scheduling the appointment was easy and professional. We used the $299 coupon for 3 hours. They did inform us that because we were moving a 4 bedroom home, it will definitely go over 3 hours. So, we appreciated that they set the expectations up front. We were moving around the corner in the same subdivision, so we thought it would probably take about 6 hours. It ended up being 8 hours, but we believe it could have been 6 -7 hours if one of the movers didn't arrive with an injury. Movers arrived on time and were very friendly and professional. They took the time to ensure all items were wrapped and loaded properly. Overall, they did a good job and completed the move without any damages. The only problem was that one of the movers arrived with some type of leg injury that seemed to have gotten worst as the day progressed. It took approx. 3 hours to pack and load, so they were at that time right on track with what we were thinking. During the unpacking, approx. 5-6 hours into the move, the injured mover was barely walking and the other mover was moving items into the house by himself. The other mover was great and did what he could to accomodate for doing the work mostly on his own. He remained professional and worked very hard to accomodate for the other person. A couple of times, my husband helped him with a couple of items that was impossible for him to move by himself. He didn't ask, but my husband volunteered. At that point, we were doing what we could to help as the time was ticking and costing us. The injured mover at the end came into the house to help with the final installation of the beds and appliance setup. He was very apologetic. We do believe it cost us a little in the end and that it could have gone a little faster had both movers were able to perform duties the entire time. We never called to make a complaint because we believe this was most likely an isolated incident. Overall the experience was good. It was great to have the large items in place and appliances setup. So, this made our move a lot easier.

Mike & his crew showed up right on time. After going through paperwork, they got to work wrapping furniture and loading the truck. All 4 guys were extremely polite and courteous. They got my 2 bedroom, second floor apartment loaded into the truck & unloaded into the new place in 5 hours, much faster than I expected. Nothing was damaged during the move, and before they left, they made sure that everything had made it into the correct room so. Overall I was very impressed and would definitely recommend them!

I had a 26 ft truck they unloaded in 3 hours into a 3 story house. They were very professional and on time. Very hard workers and I had to slow down on a few big items going through the front door to keep from being damaged which nothing was. Everything was unloaded into the correct rooms and they even put the bed frames and bed together. I would recommend and use them again.

Great crew, moved me on a Sunday AM. Arrived on time, called ahead to confirm. I had lots of really heavy items to go to 2 locations and they packed everything in an efficient order with that in mind. Wrapped all of the storage items very well and treated my stuff like it was theirs. Basically an all day job; well worth the cost. Mike, Chris and Marcos did a great job.

Overall, the move went well. I know moving is so difficult for everyone involved. The movers were on time and they were very nice. I felt they took care of my things by wrapping everything fairly well and pointing out to me if something was scratched or broken so I would not be surprised at the other end. They loaded everything pretty quickly. My driveway is very steep and they had to carry everything up the hill as the truck would not go up it. I know that was very hard for them and I felt that they lost steam at the end. It took longer and I really think that one of the guys worked far harder than the other one. A few things were scratched or damaged, including a wood piece that they broke off the top of my china cabinet (this was when they were loading it out of the truck), but Georgia Pack and Load sent a guy out to repair it and it was done remarkably! Never will I know that it was broken. That made me very happy that they stood behind their mistake. We used them again for the second part of the move (as an unload service) and it went very smooth and the guys that time were much better; same driveway, full 27ft Penske truck with a three bedroom house, loaded to the max and done within the three hour window. Very satisfied.
Description of Work: They moved me from a one bedroom apartment to a three bedroom house that had stairs and an incredibly steep driveway.
