Description of Work: This is my rate til October 2016. They had to come out a few times, one plug was smoking and siren did not work. So they then decided to put me on a contract and raised my rate. Goodbye come October.

Description of Work: Only robbed once while an Ackerman customer...by Ackerman. Equipment is nothing special. Service is nothing special. What is special is that they "require" 60 days cancellation notice AND a snail-mailed letter to let you cancel...like some kind of skeezy low-rent health club trying to hold onto New Year's resolutioners. Being a human and having things to do, you forget this over the years. But when you decide to move, this sneaky "policy" is waiting for you as a $50 sucker punch on your way out the door. Even if you let them know you are moving weeks in advance (talking to reps about false alarms, etc), unless you specifically speak to the right department - you have to pay them off to leave. Don't bother. While moving I found out I could get Xfinity Home in place of my Xfinity home phone line, which I have only because of Comcast's obsession with bundling. For NO additional charge. Know what's scary? Comcast felt like an upgrade. It lets you use apps, and other types of equipment invented after the mid 90s. When you get beat my Comcast in value and customer service - that deserves some recognition.

Description of Work: We have been Ackerman customers for at least 15 years. When we changed our home phone over to AT&T u verse around 3 years ago, we were not told that our phone word no longer dial out to our security system. So big fail on the part of AT&T. But Ackerman also never notified us that they weren't getting a signal from us and they should have known and should have notified us. We found out the other day when my neighbor called me at work to tell me my alarm was going off. But I never got a call from Ackerman. When I called Ackerman the girl on the phone a) gave me attitude b) couldn't tell me how to reset my keypad and c) just said "well, we didn't get a signal on your alarm". Didn't care why, even when I asked. Now I know it's because of the phone. They could have asked me a few simple questions to get this right if they cared. They've been taking my money for YEARS without actually providing us with monitoring. They are the WORST. We have signed on with another company

Description of Work: I hired Ackerman to install our security system in January. The unit is fine and the technician did a good job, but they get an "F" for their monitoring services. On 3 different instances of our alarm going off, they called in an unacceptable time frame (they guarantee a response time of 45 seconds or less). In the most recent incident, the police had already arrived at my house before they even called me once to see if we were ok. When I confronted the agent on the phone for the over FIVE minute delay in calling me, she replied, "Sorry, we've had a busy night." As a result of consistent poor monitoring, they have released me from my contract and we have take our monitoring business elsewhere. I DO NOT recommend.

Description of Work: This is the worst service company I have ever encountered. They did not do anything that they said that they would do and I am taking them to magistrate court now. I called them three times a day every day for over a week without every having a return call, wrote them a letter and finally tried to interact with them through the Better Business Bureau and could get nothing from them. I would encourage any one to read their reviews BEFORE choosing to do business with them. Once I read their reviews, I understood better; this is how they treat their customers. They are rated very low on Yelp and your list. Awful company in every way!!

Description of Work: The highly touted wireless communication system is not dependable. We received calls while out of town that the monitoring center was not receiving communication from the house. That was on the 10th. Service was provided on the 15th. Serviceman was professional, curteous and efficient. Alarm tested & communication re-established. Less than 48 hours later, problem repeated. Same with service response: not until next week & we will not be in town again. Apparently the monitoring is not so important in this company's opinion. But for us, Security must be 24/7 or else it is not security.
