+ -1 moreI can't believe this company. I should never have answered the door when the salesman rang the bell. However, I knew I had an issue with moisture in my crawl space, and when he offered an inspection, I took him up on it. My second mistake was allowing myself to get pressured into letting them do what I thought was encapsulation of the space under my house. I had already gotten 2 estimates for encapsulation a year of so ago, and even though those estimates were lower than his, I listened as the earnest young man sold me a bill of goods. (Please, don't anyone jump in and tell me what an idiot I've been. I'm already beating myself up pretty badly.) The "work" has been completed now, and it's slipshod. I have refused so far to sign the paperwork for the loan I took out that will allow them to get paid. (I will sign it, because stupidity doesn't excuse me from my obligations.) You see, I thought I had contracted with Morris for encapsulation of my crawl space. It turns out that I'm actually paying them over $4300 to throw down 6-mil plastic sheeting held down with scrap concrete they found around my house. What's even more galling is that the owner of the company, Eric Morris, has now sent me threatening email, promising to take legal action, to have me arrested, because not paying for half-assed work is a felony in Georgia. I suppose that email, even more than my dissatisfaction with the work, is what has pushed me into letting others know about my experience. Oh, I almost forgot about the attempt to upsell me. The salesman came back Saturday and tried to tell me that work that had been done previously by a different contractor was done wrong. In fact, it all needed to be torn out and redone; my sump pump wasn't even working, according to him. The company would be delighted to do it all over, correctly this time, for a mere $10,000. I was too aghast to even ask if that was a total or if it was on top of the more than $4000 I had already incurred for the shoddy work the company was about to do. Oh, and the first contractor came back and verified the pump is indeed working. Everyone always says "Buyer Beware." That doesn't keep me from feeling cheated, however. All I can tell readers is not to hire these people.
