I think we are due this year and they have called us. We have a flat rate with them every year. They come out and check the unit and test to the levels to determine they are correct or if something needs to be added. They check for leaks, make sure the operation of the thermostat is doing what it is supposed to and check the temperature of air coming through the vents. I know that they slip on those blue shoes when they walk through the house which is nice and they have always been very pleasant and I have no current complaints. I do know that when we first had the unit installed there were leaks in it, but they fixed it right away.
Description of Work: We purchased a heating and air-conditioning unit from Coolray 3 years ago. We have a service contract with them and they came out a couple of time, and the last time they were here was last year.

I've dealt with them in the past and I really enjoyed dealing with them so I don't even check around for other companies. They will lower the price of the contract if you sign it for longer than a couple of years. Price wise, I could probably get a better deal, but they do a good job on everything. They don't nickel and dime me to death when there have been a couple of minor issues. The one time I really had a problem was about 8 months ago with a plumbing issue. There was a leak and I thought it was the hot water heater so I had that company come out and they took a long time to arrive then said it wasn't the hot water heater. Then Coolray came out and identified where the leak was and theoretically they would have had to drill into the bottom of the house to fix it, but they came up with an alternative way to run the pipe through the attic to get outside which saved me a fortune. They did great when I called and didn't have time to bid the job out. They gave me a price and I didn't like it so I talked to the service manager who I've talked to in the past and he gave me an extra 7.5% discount. They are always on time and the couple of times they weren't they called far enough in advance that it wouldn't ruin any of my plans.
Description of Work: I've used Coolray/Mr. Plumber for just about everything in the last couple of years. They do the air conditioning system and they also have a plumbing unit that I've used before, too. They are on a yearly service contract twice a year for the AC unit and you basically have a lifetime guarantee as long as you have them come out and check the unit twice a year. They were last here for a semi-annual check.

I just bought a home that had been previously serviced by CoolRay and the heater would not turn on. It was working fine the previous 2 days I was in the house. I called on Weds night to schedule a tech on Friday. I called the next morning to reschedule for Thursday afternoon and was told there was a scheduling mishap and the tech was scheduled for Thursday morning. I asked if they could change to the afternoon since I would not be home and they did. We were also having our new home replumbed and the tech looked at the wires that went from the furnace to the thermostat to make sure nothing had been cut during the plumbing work. He did not see anything. He ran a couple of tests to see if he could find out why the fuse blew but the tests passed. I was charged for the trip/service fee and the $44 for replacing a fuse (they pull the prices out of a mechanics book). I mentioned when I scheduled the appt that I was an Angies List customer but I did not remember the coupon and failed to ask for it at the time the bill was being computed so I did not receive it. Make sure you ask for the coupon and do not rely on the company to automatically provide. The tech was very friendly and informative. He explained to me what was happening with my system and the potential causes. I was very pleased with the tech.

They were very hard working; a couple of guys were sent out together and it was apparent they had worked together for a long time and were quite experienced with what they did. The exhaust for the heating and the drip for the air conditioning was in question, so when I contacted them they came out right away and fixed the situation. The response was immediate. They are very impressive in their service, and they replaced the unit with a Trane Unit. It's at the top of the air conditiong units, so we expect a lot of years out of it.
Description of Work: They came in and, I had already put down covers over the carpet, removed old heating and air conditioning unit from the second story and carried it down the stairs, and then brought up new unit and installed it.

Both of our furnaces had stopped working. I put in a request for a repairman online (10% discount on repairs!) thursday morning at 10a.m. and got called back within less than half an hour to make an appointment for the same day!. At 3p.m. I got another call that Tom was on his way (the timeframe was between 12 and 6p.m). About half an hour later he was here and got everything working again. The checks, cleaning and repair took about an hour. He was quiet and friendly, The part was a little more than expected, but since we thought more might be wrong with the furnaces it still was cheap. With a servicefee of $79 they were the cheapest of the companies I called. Overall I'm pleased.

I got three estimates for the job. I was very impressed. They did an excellent job and put baffes in all of the ductwork. We had the best system put in, but it was worth it. Our utility bills have actually gone down. I recommended them to my daughter. John Melton was the initial contact and he was like a real talented engineer type of person. They have been wonderful. They are not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. We can set the humidifiers exactly how we want them and we have the two-stage compressor. They had a crew of three or four people and put in new housing and straightened out the ductwork. It has been a pleasure having their unit in our home. This is the best unit we've had in a lot of moves over 19 years.

We are happy with them. They were professional. They gave us a detailed budget and they stuck to it. We wanted a particular kind of crew working on our system and they adhered to our conditions. We had a geothermal heat pump system installed which is a pretty new technology. They did everything professionally and within our budget. They had some issues with the timing. They were delayed but they kept us informed on why the delays were occurring and we were okay with it.

I called to ask for someone to come out to give me an estimate of installing a split unit in a new sunroom. Several days they called back to say that they were not doing new installations. I thought this was strange since their ads tell us to call for service and installation. In the message I left to ask for someone to call, I mentioned that I saw them on Angie's List.

Concerned about the expense, lack of honoring the warranty, and cost of the initial visit, we decided to get another estimate. Another company from Angie's List was contacted who agreed to check out the problem for an $84 charge. He came within two days, initiated a call to the manufacturer about the warranty which he thought should cover the part which it did. His estimate was $1,000 less the service call fee and he agreed to deduct the cost of a maintenance contract from the repair if we decided to purchase it. The AC has been repaired for $940 and we have a full year's coverage with a contract; thus, we saved over $1,400 from the price quote by Coolray
Description of Work: We have used Coolray Heating and Air Conditioning before and thus called when our air conditioner quit cooling. We waited 3 days for a service call which resulted in a leak being found in the coil. The paperwork we had on hand indicated the part was under warranty, however, the technician would not honor it because we had not had an ongoing service contract. His cost for assessing the problem was over $200 dollars and they wanted an additional $2,225 to repair the AC. The technician immediately recommended we replace the unit. He was unable to give us a price without our waiting for a salesman on another day.

We had Coolray out to service our air conditioner which wasn't cooling our house adequately on hot days. They looked at the unit outside, filled it with coolant and left. I asked them to check the system in the attic, but the tech was "running late" and didn't have time. Adding the coolant didn't solve the problem so I scheduled another appointment. This tech came out, looked at the unit outside and noticed that the unit was from 2002. Since it was so "old" and had a SEER rating of only 12, he said it just wasn't good enough. There was no charge and he left. I then scheduled Estes to come out and give a second opinion. Estes did a thorough walk through of the outside, inside and my attic. The tech was patient and inspected the condensor and the distribution system. He noticed three problems and fixed all of them. The air conditioner now works great. This is what I expected, but I had to get it from another company. Use Estes, not Coolray.

After enduring a few days of Atlanta's heat and humidity, my fan continued to work, but was not pumping cool air. Once my therm reached 85 degrees, it was time to call, and I was able to make an appointment very conveniently online (and with a 10% discount of the total bill). The only problem was that I waited for the entire time slot (12-6) and never received a call. When I called about this, the issue was that they had recorded my phone number incorrectly, and thus, we had to reschedule for the next day. Corey came promptly on the early side of the next day's appointment time frame (10-3) and finished the job in a hour. He was thoughtful, clear, and fixed my wiring problem without too much hassle. He also waited to make sure that I was comfortable with how things worked and also allowed me to use a different coupon that would make the job a few dollars cheaper. GREAT WORK!

We called them after getting their name from Angie's List. They immediately came out for a diagnostic test. Overall they did what we asked 110%. I couldn't have asked for better. He used laymen's terms when explaining what he was doing. Their equipment was fairly new. Their guy was dressed fairly neat and when I talked to him you could tell he know what he was doing. We went right to the problem when he got to our house.

My ac had been tripping the circuit breaker and creating a lot of heat on the breakers. The outside unit would turn on but the fan would not spin. This is the first two weeks of real hot weather so a lot of people's ac's are breaking at this point. I called on Sunday morning and the first appointment was for Wednesday afternoon 12-6. I was called around 4:30 on Wed and told that they were running late and would arrive between 5:30-7. The technician arrived a little after 7. I was glad that they called to let me know they were running late but disappointed that I missed my evening class because of it. Once he arrived it was a relatively quick process (15-20 minutes) of finding out what was wrong. He noticed the capacitor was puffy. Once he replaced that the problem was solved.

See above. Everything went great. If I looked real hard to find any negatives, the only thing I saw that I did not like was that the guy who headed up the actual installation, appeared to be chewing tobacco. I personally find it offensive if someone chews tobacco around me and especially when they try to talk to me with stuff in their mouth. I could not understand what he was saying But I would not let that effect my decision on using this contractor.
Description of Work: After signing up with Angie’s List that morning, and checking all the contractors’ reviews, I called Coolray Cooling, Heating & Plumbing on Tuesday, June 9th because my AC was not cooling in the afternoons and the outside lines by the condensing unit were frosted over. I called Coolray around noon on Tuesday, June 9th, and within 45 minutes, a Serviceman was at my house. After attempting to charge the Freon, the Serviceman found that the expansion valve was out. This was my 2nd opinion, so I was confident his diagnosis was correct. The Serviceman was very professional and I watched him contact his office system with his Blackberry phone and check availability of parts and cost. He gave me several options and informed me that my equipment was over 14 years old and upcoming changes to the type of Freon equipment that can be installed after the first of the year would limit the availability of equipment that can be installed in the future. I decided to have both the coil and outside Heat Pump replaced with the latest equipment that could use the new type of Freon. The new equipment was in by 8:30 that evening. I am very happy with Coolray. Their response was extremely rapid, the staff was very professional and the cost was what I anticipated.

Called this morning and requested service. Dispatch told me that I was on "Standy By" and that the tech would call when he could stop by. I got home at 8:45 and nobody had called. Luckily, a truck was on the property servicing another home. Talked to the techs and they came over and installed 3 pounds of freon. Overall the experience was really positive. They came out the same day, explained what the issues were, fixed them, gave me options for making things easier in the future, and went to the unit below with me to ensure there was no continuing leakage there either. My only problem was that the dispatchers called me to let me know that the technician was on his way, when in fact, he was not. An hour and-a-half later, I called to check his status and the dispatchers told me they couldn't reach him and they would just send my phone number to him for him to contact me. This seemed a little strange to me and I wish that they had just found him and let me know what the status was. Instead, I had to just wait for him to get the message and call me.
Description of Work: My A/C unit was leaking into my unit (condo) but also into the downstairs neighbor's unit. I hadn't dealt with this situation before (first-time homeowner) so I wanted to call professionals. The technician came, discovered the problem was what I thought (blocked condensation pipe), cleaned it out, repaired a couple of minor annoyances and gave me an estimate for a few options that could make my life a bit easier, but nothing that was critical.
