I was very happy with the responsiveness, professionalism, and overall experience with Coolray. The customer service representative(s) I spoke with were very professional and courteous. They advised they could get someone out the same day, but would be on standby since it was same day. They called back in about an hour to advise the tech. was on his way. The tech, JP, was exactly on time, and very professional. He quickly found the problem, called and determined it was under warranty. He advised they would call as soon as parts were ordered. They called later that afternoon to advised JP would be back out the next day with replacement parts. He was again on time, and worked on the outside unit through rain and pending thunderstorms to ensure my unit was back up. One of the replacement parts was slightly different, he took the time to call the manufacturer to ensure it was the right part. It was, they had slightly changed the design. The fact that he took the time to ensure it was right showed he cared about doing the job right. Once completed, as I was writing the check and finishing the paperwork, my unit turn on and he asked if the raddling sound was from the unit. I told him it was, but we had become so used to it we tuned it out. He got his ladder, found a loose duct cover, and tightened it. Again, a small item, but showed he cared about doing the job right, even if it was not what I had called about. Thank you JP and Coolray, you now have a repeat customer in us.
Description of Work: The outside air condition unit was not working. They came out the same day, and had parts in and completed the repairs the next day. Very happy with the customer service and with the service technician, JP.

Smooth as butter. Took all day to complete job, put 2.5 ton in for the upstairs and 2.0 ton for main floor plus thermostat. They added float switches to the drain lines upstairs and new condensate pump in basement.(main floor). added easy access doors to the filter trays for easier change out.
Description of Work: replace two ac compressor units and coils. upgrade plenums, drains.

They are wonderful. They come out twice a year. We have a heat pump which was put in by another company but their maintenance was not that good. We used Coolray for about 10 years and last summer our pump stopped working and they came at night to fix it. They are wonderful folks. We have them look over our heat pump twice a year. When they come into the house they put mittens on their feet so they don’t track in. They are prompt and they communicate well. They are very personable when you call. They came out late at night once when we had a problem and it was so hot. They are great and they are wonderful. They do our maintenance and so they didn’t charge us more when they came out at night. I don’t care much about the price because their quality is good.
Description of Work: I use the service of Coolray Heating Cooling & Plumbing to take care of our heating needs and they were here last in June.

Description of Work: Had problems with my upstairs ac unit, and called them on 9/2/2011 to diagnose and fix the problem. They showed up fist thing the following morning gave me a detailed description of the problem without any B.S. and trying to sell me things I don't need (like my other A/C company) and fixed the problem in a punctual, courteous, and professional manner for a reasonable price. I would use them again and recommend them to anyone that would inquire.

It is a fine line we walk as a service company, trying to provide the customer with the information they need to make an educated decision on the best repair solution for their system, while not making them feel as if they are being pressured into doing something more than what they need. The managers have meetings with the techs weekly and this issue is often discussed. Ways to work on balancing the information the customer needs, with not seeming like your trying to upsell. Jim Carney was very professional to deal with. He always answered my questions promptly. Both times we have been happy with their service. They have a very good warranty which I like.

The replacement of a new system is a large expense and we want to make sure the customers have no questions unanswered. And our lifetime warranty can't be beat! All we ask in order to keep it current is that you keep a maintenance agreement with us so we can come out and check and clean the system twice a year. We called Cool-Ray after seeing them across the street and being totally disgusted with our previous provider. After checking Angie's List and talking with the neighbor, we decided to talk to them. Brit, the sales manager and his assistant came to our house as soon as we called and went over the whole house to see what we needed. They took measurements and saw where errors in our air out-put had been made previously. We had spent many years never really being able to completely cool the upstairs in very hot weather. The following week two installers arrived. They covered all the floors and put booties over their shoes to protect the carpeting. The units were installed and they cleaned up beautifully after themselves. There were a few scratches on the upstairs hall near the attic opening and they sent in a painter who repainted the entire hall since we had recently had the hall painted. They came back about a week later to make some adjustments to the air vents upstairs to accomodate our needs. We are so very happy with the company. They answer your calls promptly and are always polite and eager to answer your questions or help out in any way to make you more comfortable. I am so sorry that we wasted all those years being miserable in the warm weather because of our old company and now are in total comfort thanks to Cool-Ray. They are our company from now on and I would highly reccomend them to any one.

See above. Please put this review in Shumate and Reliable files also. I feel that they sould be reviewed negatively bc they didn't even call me back. If necessary I will submit separate reviews for them, but I will give them the lowest marks possible.
Description of Work: My central air conditioner outdoor unit went out during the middle of the night on 8/21 and the heat became intolerable for sleeping, so I got up at 2:30 AM to contact A/C repair companies. I called 3 companies: Shumate, Reliable, and Coolray. I called Shumate and talked to their 24-hr. answering service and left a message with them. I was assured that they would call me first thing in the morning. I left a message on Reliable's answering machine. I was able to make an appointment with Coolay on the internet ( you also save 10% by doing that). At 7:30 the next morning Coolray called me to confirm appointment time of 12 noon. I asked for a time earlier since the temperature outside was quickly rising and was going to be 95 degrees that day. They said they would try to come earlier. At 10 AM the tech called me and said he was on his way. He replaced the capacitor and it was only $47 because I had used Coolray to perform the annual service on the unit in the spring (first time I had ever used them. . . they did a good job with that, too). Nothing was wrong then, so because of their guarantee, they deducted the cost of the spring inspection. As of today (8/ 21), I still have not heard from Shumate or Reliable. I have used Shumate in the past for repairs and Reliable installed the system a few years ago.

If your AC is not broken but you have ongoing freon leaks and you are not already a maintenance customer, I would shop a new system.
Description of Work: Cool Ray replaced a furnace, coil, and condenser with a high efficiency system. The old system was 16 years old and was in the attic. It had a freon leak. The salesman arrived promptly, quoted a "customer service agreement" price and explained every detail of the proposed system. I was aware of the potential cost. But when given $1,000 discount to reach $7,000, I was not as sure that I was getting a "preferred customer price". We have been a maintenance customer for about 7 years. Nevertheless, I do trust their service men and felt that the quality would be in the service. It was a fair price given the professionalism and knowledge of the installation crew.

A few days ago I left a post that was rather scathing concerning the service I had received from Coolray. All I can say is when they realized how angry I was, and that I'd canceled my order, they immediately began trying to make things right. And they did. They sent out new experts to review my issues and solved my problems. Being in business myself, I've always believed that you can't keep things from going a little wrong, but it's what you do to fix those things when something does go wrong. While it took them a bit longer to respond than I thought was good (overall experience a B) they did respond and did excellent work.

I was promised that the people whom I met would be the installers. While I was away on business, they inadvertently let the cat out of the bag...and I found out that neither of the original insatllers I was promised was going to do the installation. When I sgned the deal...I was told these installers were the "best in the company." Why then would I be willing to let less than the best work on my home?
Description of Work: You would think that if you cancelled an $18,000 contract due to misinformation, that someone from the company would call and find out what happened....not a call. They promise a lot...and apparently they deliver very little.

Thank you so much for posting about your experience with our service. If we do something wrong, and we don’t know about it, we can't fix it. In this situation unfortunately there is nothing we could have fixed. The plumber that met with you in the beginning of July to give you an estimate and that you thought was going to install your tankless water heater is no longer with the organization and the HVAC installer was injured on a job over the weekend and is not able to work right now. I know that it is frustrating when what you plan on happening does not happen, but please know that we were in no way trying to keep anything "in the bag" or deceive you in any way. Both of these things happened suddenly and we were/are supremely confident that we could still do everything we promised we could. We employ about 30 plumbers and 20-30 installers, and we are very fortunate to have some of the best technicians in Atlanta. Gerald is a great HVAC installer and we will miss him while he is recuperating. Bill is an excellent plumber and he will be missed as well. However, I can assure you we have other great installers and plumbers that will be glad to help you. We are very grateful that we not only have a couple technicians at the top of their game, we have many. The plumbing supervisor just let me know that he spoke with you and you have agreed to let us come back out and speak with you again. It is our hope that you will agree to let us deliver on the promises that we made to you. It may not be the same technicians, but our gaurantee will still be the same...100% satisfaction! I also want to apologize that no one followed up with you. I was told your comfort consultant called you and I thought that it was a closed issue. I should have asked him if I needed to follow up with you as the customer relations manager. Whether you were going to spend 18,000.00 or 18.00 with us your business and your experience with Coolray/Mr. Plumber is still very important. So I want to personally apologize for myself not calling you to see if I could do anything, instead of assuming you had made up your mind and wouldn't want to be bothered. That was a bad call on my part and I'm sorry if I caused you to feel like Coolray didn't care. That is definately not the case. We are looking foward to the meeting tomorrow and hope that soon we will be able to call you another happy Coolray customer. The wife and I left for beautiful Destin, Florida only to return to a house that the thermostat said was 89 degrees. One of the A/C units wasn't working. I purchased a membership from Angie's list at about 7:55 am this morning. I scanned the reviews and decided on a company at about 8:15 and made the call. The phone queue said I was the second in line but the call dropped for some reason. I called back in and someone answered. She took my info and said she could dispatch someone immediately. He arrived at approximately 8:45. His name is Gerald W. Pleasant fellow. He diagnosed the problem, had the part on hand, replaced it, and was done before 9:30. The total price was $79 for the service call and $121 for the work. I advised him that there was to be $10 off due to finding them on Angie's list and there was a little confusion about how the discount was to be taken but he misunderstood what I said and did 10% off instead. (I told him but apparently he was at the point of no return! But those are the types of things that work for customers right?!?) To be honest, I'm never satisfied with prices and since this is the first I've used a company to repair an a/c unit I wasn't sure if I should give them an A for price. Yes, I'm one of those people. Regardless, I have to admit that it was awesome to call, get someone out here, and have this resolved in such a short period of time. it is now 10:50 am and the temperature in the affected rooms has now dropped to a bearable 83 degrees. More importantly, my wife isn't feeling miserable now - maybe the day won't be so bad after all. Kudos to Gerald and Coolray!

Technician arrived after he called us to say when he would be here. We made appt on Friday and he was here on Saturday evening. Flushed the line and cleared it. Took only about 30 minutes total.
Description of Work: Condensation overflow on AC unit was blocked. Water was leaking in the attic on to the sheetrock in the hallway ceiling.

I use them twice a year, in the summer and in the winter, to check the air conditioning and then the heating. They are always prompt and professional, and they always come when they say they are going to come. They help me out a lot throughout the year. I always ask for one guy, because I love him. I got a really good deal last year when they were doing the upgrades to get the tax price for new air conditioners and heating. I bought new units and got about six years of maintenance for about $400, whereas it is normally a couple of hundreds a year. I don’t think their price is unreasonable. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future.

On June 28, 2011, Coolray's representative came out to my house for the purpose of giving me an estimate on the replacement of my entire Heating and Air conditioning system. Despite his promise to have an estimate later that day or by the next day, I have not heard from him or his company over two weeks later - despite my calling them! I spent between 1 and 2 hours out of my day with Coolray's 'professional'. That is important time I lost from my business. I was honest and up front with him. I told him I was getting 3 estimates before deciding. I stressed that I was a serious buyer and wanted the best provider. Doesn't this include follow through on promises of a delivery of an estimate? He promised later that day or by the next day. NO FOLLOW THROUGH. Coolray is trying to sell me a system for between $7,000 - $12,000! Coolray is stressing how responsive they are. I have since called the company HQ twice to ask for the estimate and an explanation why they dropped the ball - particularly when they are trying to sell me a very expensive product and service! If Coolray drops the ball with its prospective customers, how can you trust them when you are an actual customer? There is no excuse for bad business practices of (1) not keeping your word to have an estimate within the time you promise; and (2) not calling in a timely fashion to explain why the estimate might be late; and (3) only responding after customer calls 2 or 3 times to follow up. On July 13, 2011, Coolray's representative finally e-mailed me a quote and apologizing saying that "I thought I had sent this so I am very sorry." If he really thought he had sent it, wouldn't he have ordinarily followed up with a phone call or e-mail to ask me what I thought of the quote? That is what a professional salesperson does. Further the the quote itself was a rushed generic estimate (see below the actual form of the estimate in the e-mail). It was unprofessional, particularly for a proposed sale of $9,875.00 to $11,333.00. Just as important, the rushed estimate did not address specific issues to my house that I spent 1 and 2 hours discussing with the rep 2 weeks prior. Maybe I simply had the bad luck of getting a representative who, while a nice guy, completely dropped the ball, and really didn't care about making things right. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company. They wasted my time. FROM THE SENIOR COMFORT CONSULTANT THAT CAME TO MY HOUSE "I thought I had sent this so I am very sorry. The cost to install a xl16i 5 ton 2 speed unit with xv95 variable speed furnace and coil new line set, whip, disconnect box, move condenser, new touch screen tstat, 1yr cca on system Lifetime parts and labor warranty with cca $11,333 If you substitute the xl15i for the xl16i the cost installed would be $9875.00 If you have any further questions please email or call me." I called them on the morning of June 28th. They came the same day. I had no air from the upstairs unit. They called to tell me my time, called back to inform the tech was on his way. I met him at my home. He came in, put his covers over his shoes and inspected the units in the attic. Told me the downstairs was frozen up and asked me to turn it off to thaw it out. We then went outside and inspected the outside units. The downstairs was frozen outside as well. The upstairs unit need a capacitor. He explained the service contract to me and was very fair on the pricing. They were the only ones that responded same day. Mark was very professional and is very good at his job. We have a service contract with them and they came out last month to service our new air conditioner and the one upstairs. They come twice a year once for the heating and once for the air conditioning. We already had a free contract with the air conditioner that we bought and we extended our service contract to five years and added the other air conditioner to it. We wanted only one company servicing the air conditioners. When we bought our air conditioner last year they were less expensive for the unit that we wanted to buy and they were able to install the high efficiency unit that we wanted which other companies couldn't. We got what we wanted for less money.

I was pretty happy with them. They have been really good. I have a maintenance contract with them. I spend $240 a year on that and they come out twice a year. They are quick to respond if we have an issue. They have done a good job maintaining the units. We have used them for year. When we had to replace the units, they were very good about doing it in a timely way. It has been a positive experience. There are cheaper companies than them.

I recently purchased a maintenance contract with Coolray after leaving my prior service provider (they treated a relative who worked there poorly...). This was Coolray's first visit and I found them to be a MUCH more professional company than my prior provider. They called me the day before to confirm the appointment, and then called me at noon that day to ask if it would be okay for the technician to come earlier since he had finished up early. (It was). The technician replaced my filter, cleaned the a/c unit thoroughly, and was very professional, quick, and neat. I am pleased so far - will update in the future as I have more experience with Coolray.
Description of Work: I purchased a maintenance contract and this was the summer visit, including filter change and checkup/cleaning of the a/c unit.

Our service was scheduled between 2pm and 6pm. I received a call about 3pm that the technician would arrive around 4pm, which he did. We have two cooling units and I showed him where everything was. He flushed both units, cleaned the coils and left a new filter for each (both units had new filters in place from the air duct cleaners that had recently worked in our home). I was told that one compressor was completely out of freon and the other was low. After a call to his office, the tech told me that freon had been included in last year's special but was not included in the special this year. He said the additional freon would cost $96.00 (he charged me $105.00). I gave him the okay. When the work was completed, he spent about 15 minutes advising me about other things that needed to be done, including replacement of one unit. The tech spent a total of about 40 minutes in my home and much of that was to tell me what I needed beyond a tune-up. The tech was arrogant and rude. I felt that the "SPECIAL" was just an excuse to try to sell me more services! If you need a "check-up" of your air conditioning system, call someone else!
Description of Work: "Spring Tune Up" special of our air conditioning units ($133.00 for two units with service with guarantee).

Good response to my request for quote. Quote was comparable to others received, schedule was good. Work was accomplished on schedule and to estimate. Technician did a good job explaining new system function, and instructions for use.

I had trouble getting a timely service appointment (had to wait 2 days). At the scheduled appointment, repair technician arrived promptly and checked the system. The compressor was dead. I had the choice of having it fixed for $1700 (with no general complete warranty) or replacing it. Since the unit was 12 years old, I opted for replacement. I could not get a sales appointment until the next day (Saturday). The unit was not available locally, so I had to wait until Monday until it could be shipped from from Jacksonville, FL. They arrived Monday morning and replaced the compressor unit, but the inside air handler still had not been received. Around noon, the air handler arrived and was installed. The unit works very well and continues to do so. I now have a great sysfem with a great warranty. Since the outside temperature outside was mild for the duration of this project, the discomfort without air conditioning was minimal while I waited days for appointments and shipping. Everything that the local company was responsible for was done professionally and well. Except for initial service scheduling delay, my irritation was caused by conditions beyond Coolray's local control. I picked this company both for the Angie's List recommendations and because I have seen the Coolray trucks at our condominium building frequently. I recommend them highly.
