We called them after reading the reviews on Angie's List. We wanted to get our house rezoned since one unit serviced the upper and lower levels of half the house. Two prior HVAC guys told us that it couldn't be done. Rob came out the next day after I called and looked the situation over and concluded it could be done. His guys were out the next day and did a great job. It was a lot more work for them than just putting in another unit. My husband was a little troubled that some of the celing tile was slightly damaged, but they were working in such tight quarters with the additional ductwork, that I think it was understandable. Rob called a few days later to see if we were happy. A second unit was too big for the area it serviced and they put in a new unit for the other part of the house. They did a nice job --very professional We signed up for a annual service contract with them. Lance comes and checks everything out and makes any suggestions. They are always prompt and courteous. Someone always calls to let us know exactly when they are coming. I would highly recommend them.

Due to the age of the units we did not want to sink a lot of money into the existing system. It seemed that the focus of the technician was to see how much he could sell us as opposed to reporting to us what was required to keep the units operating in a safe manner.

I apologize if you felt the technician wasn't focused on improving your situation. I'm a little confused though. I'm not sure how the technician was supposed to tell you what needed to be fixed without telling you how much it would be to perform the work-which is basically selling. I looked at his invoice and he had a list of recommended repairs and the suggestion that due to its age you may want to schedule a comfort consultant out to give you a free estimate on a new system so you don't sink money into an old system. I don't think I clearly understand the issue. Apparently the technician did something to give you that impression, but I can't tell what it is by his invoice. I would like the opportunity to discuss this with you so I can talk with the technician and maybe let him know how he comes across to customers sometimes. We are very happy with this company. We feel we got good value for the price.
Description of Work: Made a competitive proposal to replace HVAC. Explained the vetting of employees, ie drug testing and background checks. Had the equipment in stock. Replaced complete HVAC system in a single 8 hour day, tested, cleaned up, explained operation of the complex thermostat, explained operation of the furnace.

The technician arrived earlier than scheduled which was not a problem. He inspected and restarted the furnaces.
Description of Work: Inspected two furnaces that were not working properly. Needs to replace a part on one and was able to start the other unit. Bought a maintanence package that includes twice yearly visits to inspect and clean heating and air units, feel it will be worthwhile.

I chose Coolray to install my unit because I had used them in the past and was satisfied with their work. They were not on time but did call to say they were running late. They completed the service in a timely manner and cleaned up after themselves. They went over the system after installing it and answered all my questions.

Their person came out and showed me three different systems. He was very pleasant and very easy to get along with. We then scheduled a time. Unfortunately, I could not be there but I had somebody else there. He told that it would take about half a day but it only took them a couple of hours. They were in and out. They cleaned up and they were gone. Everything has been working fine ever since and I have no problems with them at all.
Description of Work: I used the services of Coolray Cooling Heating Plumbing in the middle of August 2011 to have my air conditioner replaced. They changed the air handler and the compressor.

Sometimes that includes coming out at midnight or on a holiday! We all know that HVAC problems and plumbing problems dont always happen at the most convenient times. We want to make sure we have people here to insure the technicians get the calls and go when needed.After midnight we use a very reliable answering service who will contact the oncall technician, who will contact the customer in need. For H/AC they are dependale and will promptly rectify any complaint. For plumbing they are superior to my previuos contractor.
Description of Work: For 22 years I have had H/AC service both twice a year for seasonal tune-ups and some new installation. For plumbing I have had service the last two years for: broken outside pipe, stopped up pipes and new hot water heater.

They were unable to find any problem with the system. The first tech seemed unmotivated to find the problem, and blamed the really hot weather. He thought the AC just couldn't keep up with it, mentioning that a lot of units were having problems. In a few days, I called back again, since even in cooler weather, the house was hotter inside than out. The second tech was very professional and gave the system a very thorough check, including checking the duct work for leaks in the attic. He spent quite a bit of time working on the problem, which I appreciate. However, he was unable to give any reason why the system was not cooling. Since the first tech did not find a problem, but there clearly was one, Coolray had sent the second guy out with no charge to me. A few weeks later, we had to hire another company to figure out what was really going on. A meter inside the unit was no longer working, and it was allowing the unit to overheat and thus shut down. The repair (with another company) cost us about $675 or so. UPDATE: After seeing our report on Angie's List (where we gave them a "C" in quality), one of their customer service people contacted me. She apologized that the company had been unable to find the problem and apologized for the waste of my time. She offered me a full refund of the diagnostic charge. I was extremely impressed.
Description of Work: Our AC was not cooling properly. They came and checked the system, but were unable to find the problem. I think the two techs spent about 3 hours total trying to find a solution. The company seems honest enough; but since they could not find our problem, I originally gave them a "C" in quality. UPDATE: After seeing our report on Angie's List, one of their customer service people contacted me. She apologized that the company had been unable to find the problem and for the waste of my time. She offered me a full refund of the diagnostic charge. I was extremely impressed. The only thing that might have been better would have been if, at the time of service, the tech had notified his manager of the problem, and the manager had tried to solve the problem with him. To be fair to the tech, he did try to call a couple people, but I guess no one wanted to help him (it was a Friday afternoon) or no one was nearby. Overall, though, I was very pleased that the company refunded my money, and upgraded quality to a B.

I did forward a copy of your review to the HVAC manager so he can have a discussion with the involved technicians to see how they both missed the problem and how we can make sure that doesn't happen again. I wanted to also let you know that I will contact you to issue a refund of your service charge. There is no reason you should pay for a service call where we did not diagnose the problem and had to call another company. That is definitely unacceptable to us and it will be addressed. We sure appreciate you choosing Coolray and again we are so sorry that it wasn't a better example of who we are. I hope that you will try us again in the future.

I have had so may companies to come out and give me dishonest answers about what my furnance needed just in order to make more money than it was worth, I can sense when I am being given a rip-off. I'm a single older lady that lives alone. I find that we are a target for this kind of thing. At first, I thought he was being dishonest with me about my furnance. I thought he was trying tpo find somethingt else wrong to bring up the price. In other words, something else that need fixing. I told him that I had a few companies to come out and give wrong information and that I would like to work with a company that was honest and gave me honest answers. He then started to give me answers that I believed was true. My furnance is Old and I have been thinking about replacing it. I would replace it with a company that I trusted. I think he understood that . I think we ended with a good understanding.of what I would accept and what I would not. When I replace my furnance, I have them in mind. This is an update that I'm just getting around to writing. After the serviceman and I finish talking, and he said he had finish the job, and showded me that it was working, he then said that he needed to check one more thing. After he left I did not use my air or heat because it was not too hot or not too cold. When the cold weather did kick in, nothing was working, the air or the heat. As I did not call anyone else to check my furnance after him. I believe that he went back up there and shut down everything so that I would get panicky and call him back and have the new furance that he had recomemended installed. My system is still not working. last winter I used alternative heating. This summer alternative cooling. After this experience, I am not rushing to get a new system until the company I use is thoroughly investigated. After I just read the response from the company, I wanted to let them know that it was worst than I had previously thought and previously reported.

I have had bad experiences with being taken advantage of and it does not feel good! We are confident that when we recommend something is needed, that it is. However, our guys are human and sometimes make mistakes. That's why we have no problem setting up a free second opinion service call if you have a question about what is recommended. Sometimes customers also may feel uncomfortable about a recommendation because the technician is not clear about why a certain repair needs to be done. We often remind them that just because THEY understand why a certain part needs to be replaced, the customer doesn't and they need to take their time and explain why. I'm so glad that you let our technician know about your past experiences, it sounds like it slowed him down so he could make everything clear to you. We are working on it so the customer never has to ask for an explanation, that the techs fully cover it without being asked "why" or " what if I don't". Overall the experience was really great. I called Coolray for a quote to get a comparison for Trane HVAC equipment. I had previously contacted 4 other HVAC companies for quotes too. Ron came out for the quote and was extremely professional and knowledgable. He explained everything so well that even my mother understood (she has no in depth HVAC knowledge) what needed to be done. I did multiple quotes from different companies to see what they recommended to be fixed in my foreclosed home I just purchased. I knew the furnace did not work and the air conditioner needed to be fixed and freon added in. I learned pretty quickly that you want your furnace and air conditioner systems to match if you can, so I settled on getting them both at the same time. Additionally, the duct work needed to be replaced because it probably would not stay together to get cleaned or get 100% cleaned out (there was no air filter on the unit since the house was built in 1986 - Eww!). My home only had one thermostat on the bottom floor and it was recommended that I get and additional zone for the upstairs area. Also, the return air vents were a bit wonky - one was located directly below the unit to go into the living room below and had to be switched to both sides of the furnace room to accommodate the new furnace. After getting the quote from Ron I heard an ad on the radio about a special buy one (air conditioner) and get one half off (furnace) for Tranes'. I called them up and had them quote the system. The cost was lower than what Coolray offered me. I contacted Ron and asked if they could match the price. After Ron spoke with his boss they said they could match the price and still give me the Angie's List member discount (for me the discount was $1000!). This was so great of them and I immediately scheduled a time for them to come do my system. I ended up purchasing the Trane 15 xl 15 air conditioner and the 95% efficient furnace with 2 stage variable speed which best fit my needs. Mike and Michael were my HVAC technicians. It took them two and a half days to complete everything. They arrived within a couple of minutes of the time they said they would be here and did call me to let me know they were running about 5-7 minutes behind on the first day. The transformation of the old equipment to new equipment was amazing. They took out all of the old duct work and I am so thankful that I did take it all out! It was encrusted with dirt, debris, mold, and everything else yucky from the last 25 years. There had been a pervading musty smell in the house that we had not pinned down yet, and the day after the old duct work was out of the house that smell was completely gone. A couple days before I had learned that I had a missing gas pipe line going to my fireplace and we asked if they could replace/fix the piping while they were there and they agreed that they could do this. It will be an extra charge, but it was really cool that they were able to do this at the same time they were doing the HVAC work. After all of the work was completed Mike and Michael showed me how to work my thermostats (bless them for taking the time to listen to my questions when I had laryngitis and could barely make out sentences). They cleaned up the areas very well where they were working: sweeping, vacuuming, etc. I did have to call them back 4 days after they completed the job to fix a damper issue in the furnace workings. The heat would go on upstairs when we used the thermostat downstairs (making the upstairs feel like an oven!). Mike and Michael came back the same day I called them and fixed the issue for no charge. I didn't lower the score anywhere because I consider this issue pretty normal since there was so many new moving parts. Sometimes you don't know how a new system will actually work in an older house until you work with the systems after the initial install. I would definitely recommend this company to others and have already done so with family members. They did an excellent job and worked well with my family and my individual needs.

Their people are just like their ads...pros that respect your home and you. Not only did they do what they said, but they fixed some additional problems they discovered at no additional cost. I was willing to pay, but they just did it during the install. Their was a problem after the install...the new hepa filter install was choking the return air. I called Coolray and they quickly scheduled one of their engineers to come out. He looked the system over and agreed the hepa filter system needed to be relocated and then apologized and set up a time to correct the error. No hassal and complete satisfaction! I'm sold on Coolray and have been recommending them to friends for the past year. What makes this HVAC system by Coolray even better...life time warrantee for as long as I have the yearly maintenance agreement. Get your bids and then call Coolray and like me you will be surprised at what they can do in both price and equipment. Finally, my bids were for identical Trane AC systems and the 95% two stage systems really does make a big difference in both the winter and summer. I asked how they could do a 95% system for the same price as other install an 80% system. Coolray buys in bulk directly from Trane and gets a nice discount for being the #1 installer. Most other contractors charged much more for this and also said such a system would not make any difference. Other companies were simply wrong. Hate to sound like an advertisement, but hands down Coolray is the best deal in town. Description of Work: I took 8 bids to replace and repair my main level HVAC and do repairs to the attic unit vent system. Wife wanted me to call Coolray (but I thought they would be too expensive) so I called as the last bid just to keep her happy. Mercy am I glad I did!!! Much to my surprise, Coolray was only $100 higher than the bid I was going to go with which was a lesser efficient system. The BIG DEAL: Coolray bid a 95% efficient two stage system which was hands down the best value and best price because all other bids were for an 80% single stage system...everyone else wanted from $800 to $1,200 extra for what Coolray bid. I know, wife was right again. Coolray showed up when they said, were clean, respectful, customer centric, wasted no time in removing the old system, re-routing ducting, re-locating the water heater (big job too), installing totally new 8 foot plenum, installing a new vent and vent run, installing new HVAC, repairing old vent that was leaking air, installing new digital thermostat, installing new gas line, upgrading old gas furnace vent to code, routing new water condensation drain to outside, installing 2 new overflow water pumps and warning alert sensors, installed new power box to the compressor and re-wrapped the cooling lines for both systems. For the attic system repairs: installed new plenum in the second attic system, repaired vent leaks which were significant, safety checked the gas line and found leaks (wow! this was a real life saver cause from time to time we could smell a whiff of gas but did not think it was a leak) I saw this was a real leak in the attic. This was a lot of work done in one day! They had two teams: one in the attic and one in the basement. They did more repairs and upgrades, but I think I listed most of the majors. Love they system and Coolray's work and attitude!!!!

Contacted several well known contractors in the area, and Coolray offered the best price. We are a little disappointed that the sales person that came out to evaluate what was needed did not mention that some of the supply ductwork and plenum was in really bad condition; a non A/C contractor pointed that out to us after Coolray had already come and gone. Other than that, everything was good. Install took about a full day for installation of a 2.5 ton system including A/C, furnace, and three new return duct lines in the crawlspace.

I bought my Trane air conditioner from them and so, I have a maintenance contract with them. They come out and check our system all the time. They do not charge me anything for the service. I would go with them again. They come and do their business. They send somebody out here if I have a problem. They sent someone out during the last time when I had a problem. He spent almost ten hours here and never complained.
