Coolray Heating & Air Conditioning

The AC went out Friday night, which was surprising because the house is less than two years old. I made an appointment with another provider for Monday, but I couldn't wait that long. I called CoolRay and was able to get an appointment for the next day. Charlie showed up around 12:30 on Saturday and the unit was fixed in less than an hour. He was very personable and professional. I will use CoolRay for my periodic service.

Went great! I had 3 Companies look at the system before deciding what to do. Coolray was the only one who didn't say to replace the system. They sent a energy consultant and a tech before deciding what to do. Reliable and 4 season both had it wrong. If you want just replace a system then there are many to chose from but if you want a company that really know what they are doing then I recommend this company. Honesty is hard to find. The guy really took the time to look over system before he made his recommendation. Thanks Coolray!!

They came out because they're the ones who installed my AC. If something happens, they'll fix it. I pay once a year and they come out twice a year to do my service. They call me every six months to make my appointment. I don't have to call them. They're really good about that. They remind me.

They came out when they said they were going to. They did the job. They didn't have to come back. I have a contract with them now.

Sam came out the very next day after we called. He was prompt, polite, and very professional. He checked both AC units and assured us that they were is good working order with no leaks. He also gave us some ideas about why the mold might have appeared and gave us advice on managing the AC units to minimize this. He was in and out in 30 minutes. We will follow with another vendor for duct cleaning but wanted to praise Sam and Coolray for their exceptional service.

Cool Ray was not the cheapest estimate but they were similar to another firm on my short list plus their warranty was the best. They showed up on time both for the estimate and job. They replaced everything in less than one day, including the zoning. I now have separate controls for my lower and upper floors, plus an electronic damper which controls which floor needs hearing or cooling. My HVAC costs are less than half what they were with my old system. The county inspector who signed off on the permit said they did a great job. I continue to use CoolRay for my annual maintenance. They are always on time and don't try to sell me something new.

The installation of the new units went great, everything was just as they promised. The problem is they don't want to honor a service agreement i paid for before they replaced the system and did not refund my money for that old system. I bought a one year agreement for two systems, two visits a year . When i bought the two new systems i was given two free years of maintenance on the new systems. When i tried to explain the situation about the two separate agreements; the service coordinator was rude and kept interrupting me. Today i got a letter stating they would combine both service agreements into one for an additional fee. They are asking for more money and haven't even honored the prior agreement. Be vary wary of using this company for any maintenance agreements. Based upon my experience they don't like to honor their commitments. 07/10/2014 Update: Senior management did get involved in this situation. They have provided a resolution that is satisfactory.. I upgraded the review from a D to B, really a B-, because management did get involved and corrected the situation. I am still leery, but willing to give them a second chance

Called company on Saturday night because my AirConditioner was not working...that was around 8 p.m. said would send technician, and the charge would be $109.00 for checking unit. Technician arrived not to far after...Technician went to unit which is in craw space under house, but pretty big for craw space, light is directly shining on unit panel. He advised the part I needed would cost $642.00, and that he had to order it and would probably take as much as 3 days...well the temperature in the house was over 80 degrees with fans on...so one would be a little desperate...but I said no..I thought the price was too much, a quarter of what a new AirConditioner would cost...I then found out...that the part costs not more than $300 or less..hello do you think this company is over charging???? this is all I have to say about CoolRay.....Oh the part was installed by another company and their cost was 1/4 the cost of CoolRay....

We had three estimates done to replace AC unit/solve a recurring cooling condition in our third floor bedroom. CoolRay was professional, but gave incorrect information. I was told the outside AC unit as well as an inside AC unit had to "match" on volume, and only way to get the room cooler was to get a bigger outside unit and add ductwork in the house. Other quotes did not include the ductwork, so I actually called the manufacturer of the AC unit to get the design specs/guidelines and determined that I had likely been mislead/misinformed by the CoolRay representative. Their quote was 50% higher than the firm I ultimately went with. We did not ductwork and the system is working like a dream.

Our salesman that came out was very professional and really blew the other companies out of the water. He obviously knew the product and after explaining their warranty, we knew that we would go with them. They do cost more, but it's a better system with a full warranty as long as you keep up with the maintenance. When the installers came they were here literally all day (8 hours) because of our previous system and how it was set up. They went above and beyond to make sure that the new system was put in right. Our house is cool again!

We had called out another company and they were unable to fix our unit. The tech at Cool Ray was smart and professional. He knew what he was doing and fixed the unit properly. It took 4 days until they could come out to inspect unit and it took 5 days to get part. They have a couple of people who handle the phones. One was totally lost and has no business working with customers. They do not communicate with each other or put information in database. Another one I spoke to was more efficient. They aren't good about follow up. You will need to call them, don't expect them to call you when the part comes in or to set up follow up. All that said, I have had two other companies who could not even fix the unit and Cool Ray did. Summary: Good serviceman and poor office personell.

Got home on a Friday evening to find the AC was out. I requested an appointment on their website. Someone called within 10 minutes and said they would be here the next day between 8am-4pm. Robert arrived at 4:30pm. Needless to say, I was happy to see him even though I had to wait all day. He was great. He diagnosed the problem quickly and let me know what was what! After owning my home for a nearly a year, I wondered why I had waited to get a "service" so I bough the service plan. Robert did say someone could call me about replacing my 12 year old AC but I didn't feel it was pressured.

Great service for several years. Never seemed to hunt an excuse to sell me something despite a very old HVAC unit. When replacement finally became necessary, they did an outstanding job at a fair price. Their attention to detail and quality impressed me and built confidence.

Last year I had a service contract for a year with them and they were great. Checkied out everything on my system, made a few minor repairs and did a overall check of the system. So this year I bought a 5 year service contract so that I would just have that piece of mind knowing my system would get checked twice a year. I get the same tech every time so he gets to know my system and house. He is always ontime, very nice and just takes care of anything I ask of him. I used coolray at my previous home and have just always been very pleased with their service. I never feel like I am being taken for a ride as they always seem to be very upfront and explain any issues that are going on.

Service went well, I signed up the the Maintenance agreement. Randy the tech was awesome and very poliet. I thought the price could have been lower but overall service was great.

They were nice, knowledgeable and showed up on time. They were over all good.

They're very thorough, they always check everything for whatever they were there for and if it's something else they always check everything and make sure everything's okay. I've used them before and I've had an experience with them.

Coolray and Mr. Plumber are quick to answer emergency calls and have been on time for every scheduled service call. This company is top notch in my book and we've been loyal customers of theirs since 2012.

Terribly - the technician shorted out the tstat and we had another company replace it -- worst of all, the company sales representative tried to sell me a heat exchanger for $6,800. I had the tstat replaced and the system was checked out and now we're running fine. The technician was a pleasant young man, but clearly his job was set up the sales guy to take advantage of a senior citizen. I sent an email to the president of Coolray, so I'm on record with them. They did not respond.

They did an excellent job. They were in and out, did a good job, and cleaned up after the install.

They seemed most knowledgeable about the product. They took the time to explain the product and explain what it would and would not do. They were very thorough and efficient

If there is any doubt about the solid A rating I have given these folks, please take a look at my review history. If it doesn't go well, I will tell you. The Coolray folks came out and gave us an estimate to replace a central AC unit. We were pleased with the equipment they offered and the quoted price. We did seek other quotes, but felt the Coolray deal was the best fit for what we needed. The estimator was courteous and didn't try to oversell us. he listened to what we wanted to do and created a proposal. The install crew came out on time. They conducted themselves in a friendly and professional manner. They were easy to communicate with and responsive to a couple of questions that we had. They worked quickly and were finished ahead of schedule. This always worries me just a bit, but the system has performed perfectly with zero issues. It is obvious that the techs finishing a little ahead of schedule is an indicator of efficiency. We highly recommend these folks. We were and continue to be pleased with our choice to hire them. They will be our first call when we need to replace our other aging AC unit.

The blower seized on my tenderly cared for 25 year old Carrier gas furnace on Saturday 1/18/14 - the "coldest weekend of the century." I was insured by American Home Shield for repair or replacement which sent out Metro Air to diagnose/repair the problem. Metro Air's technician did not have a replacement blower and would have to come back in 4 days - on Tuesday. He collected the $75 service fee and left. American Home Shield called me a couple of hours later to say that the technician told them (but would not tell me) that the blower seized because it was not properly maintained. AHS seemed happy to let me know this voided the warranty and the replacement blower would cost $650. Arguments that this furnace had lasted 5 to 10 years beyond average service and that I had records to show preventive maintenance performed just the month before fell on deaf ears. A Coolray technician was working on my neighbor's house so I stopped by on my quest to find space heaters to ask if he had a blower for a Carrier. He told me they normally carry a replacement which might work with my system and would cost about $350 - $500 installed. He'd come by after he finished my neighbor's to see but that might be 9 PM (it was now 6 PM). I was so impressed that he would offer to work that late for someone who was not dispatched by his company but a stranger off the street that I asked my neighbor how satisfied they were with Coolray. They had their heating and air system replaced by Coolray 2 years ago. They couldn't speak highly enough of the company. The problem the Coolray tech was working to fix was a result of improper venting done by the previous owner's DIY project which he had just discovered. I told the tech I had decided to replace the entire system and to have someone call me as soon as possible as I went off to buy space heaters. Sunday morning the Coolray rep called and was at my home within the hour. He was knowledgeable (a former HVAC tech), sized up my needs, we discussed zoning (an expensive option I'd read about) which he advised was not a good solution for my daylight basement ranch and explained the reasons. I was impressed that he didn't try to up-sell me something I didn't need. He gave me a price that was fair for a replacement Carrier (I looked at Angie's List offers before he arrived) and said he could schedule installation the next day, Monday. Monday morning the installers arrived. Took out the old unit. Installed the new one. Made sure everything was running, cleaned everything up and we had heat! I'm impressed by the quality of Coolray's people, their dedication to service and responsiveness. By the way - my American Home Shield policy is up for renewal in March. They called to thank me for being a customer for 8 years and to renew over the phone. I declined but not after giving them an earful. I also called Metro and dressed them down for being dishonest with me by not discussing their opinion on the cause of the blower's demise, relating what I could prove was incorrect information and telling me there was nothing they could do during this deadly cold snap until 4 days later.

We have used Coolray/Mr Plumber for almost 14 yrs with great satisfaction. Since we started using them they have been courteous, prompt, professional, and reliable.

Heat went out on the coldest day so far and while checking that my husband noticed water dripping at the water heater. We called Mr. Plumber they came out about an hour later at midnight to make sure it would not do any damage if it did fail. They were out the next day with a new one first thing and were quick and efficient with the repair. We called them because of great service when our waterline from the street failed on a Sunday. They came out and verified the problem and got us temporary water thanks to a hose and our neighbor allowing us to use his outside faucet. They were out the next day to trench and lay the new line. We have a very wooded lot and they damaged nothing in the process. I am changing my HVAC contract over to them in their partnership with Coolray. They would have come out the night the furnace quit (same night as water heater). But we have a contract with another company. Their off-hours guy couldn't be reached so we didn't see them till the next day. Luckily we had a large load of firewood delivered as we just it to heat the main room overnight and through the next day. Took 2 more trips to fix it right too.
