Prompt efficient and professional service. We had to pay $88 for the service call and 138 for the new capacitor. It is nice to have the AC working again.

An excellent experience overall. I had three other estimates for a system install. Prices and quality were about the same. I went for Empire because 1) of the wonderful sales person that not only did not try to snow me or sell me something I didn't need and 2) offered to temporarily put in window AC units until they could install the new system. I consider that 'over and above' and it sold me. 3) dealing with the office staff was great.

I had to have someone inspect the heater at a house I was refurbishing. They did a good job, I would use him again.

It went very well. I was given mixed advice about my furnace. In addition to making my A/C work, which wasn't working before he arrived, he gave me some very good advice regarding my furnace which I appreciate. I was very glad for the experience. He did not show up in time but whoever the secretary was, was very communicative. She let me know exactly what was going on at all times.

That particular part was a rip off. That was completely useless. The guy spent a few minutes just looking around the air conditioning. We actually replaced a motor on an air conditioning but that "Big Deal" didn't help at all. The service was okay, he did exactly what he needed to but the "Big Deal" per se, I don't think he spent more than 5 minutes looking at the outside of the air conditioning and the detailed job that he was supposed to do included a whole lot more. I didn't want to get "bicky" about it was already a lot of time that he spent replacing the motor, which that part went okay and pricing was fair. I actually purchased two "Big Deals" and he actually had to open one up and look because one of them was not working so he had to look at one anyway and yet I spent both of them in him looking at both air conditioners and really on the other one that was working well, he did not spend more than 3 or 4 minutes and definitely didn't do what was described in the "Big Deal". The replacing of the motor part was fine, it's just the complaint about the "Big Deal". I just don't think it was worth the money. My advice to the Angie's List readers would be "Don't purchase "Big Deals" from them. My experience for that was bad." If you need a repair or something then fine, go for it. He came when he said that he would. He was nice and professional. Everything went well but again, the "Big Deal" part was not good.

Chris Adolf was professional and responsive when it came to estimating and answering detailed questions about brands, warranties, and installation. The installers arrived as scheduled and the job was done promptly and on time. Pictures were provided of the completed job.

The service man contacted me and told me that the Air conditioner/heater unit was working but some one had put a wrong part which did not allow it work well, something about a .5 unit when the air conditioner needed a 12.5 unit to work properly. He replaced the part and cleaned out the system. He latter called me to inform me that there was another area that needed to be cleaned for an additional charge. I agreeded an the whole service call cost $600. I had a previous estimate to replace the entire unit for $3600. Thank you Empire, I'll call you again next time. Lachlan Maclachlan, from Empire Heating & AirConditioning, was the only one who actually really looked at the problem. I had called two other companies (came out at different times of course) who both declared that the entire furnace would need to be replaced. Both pulled off the main covers, did a visual inspection, solemnly shook their heads and said the main boards and the motor were fried but both gave different reasons as to why they were 'fried'. One offered a $3600 replacement and the other a $2000 replacement (of a furnace Consumer Reports puts last). I said that this Trane furnace was only 4.5 years old and I would think it could be fixed. The first company said absolutely not, all fried. The second company said 'you don't want to do that. You'll be spending a lot of money for one part and then if that doesn't work, we'll have to try another part". As if this was a 'guess which part is bad' game. Lachlan came out and started testing the boards, took out a toolkit and then pulled the whole blower out, took out a board and said "see that thing that looks burned? That's your culprit. That's called a thermistor and we'll get Trane to get us the new part - that's covered under your warranty." I paid $79 for the inspection and diagnosis and $276 labor for the installation of the new part. Guess who I will use when I DO have to replace an expensive system? So $3600 for furnace #1, $2000 for furnace #2 or $355 to fix my relatively new Trane?

They are excellent in every way.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It went fine.

The provider seemed to do a thorough job of what I mentioned above. At one point I went back in to turn on the electrical switch for the unit. It had smoked before when it was reset to get A/C working a few weeks back. This time it caught fire which luckily went out right away. I advised him and he immediately came inside and went above and beyond his work by inspecting and testing it and found one side of the switch was out. He temporarily reset wires so he could continue testing unit and then showed me how to replace dual switch. Overall I was very satisfied as office personnel was very pleasant to speak with and responded in a timely fashion to my call and my e-mail. I was given a four hour window of 10 to 2 and given a call around 11 to advise me they were on the way and they arrived as expected around 11:15 am. He was pleasant and gave me honest and straight-forward answers to all my questions. He also gave me advice and besides indoor capacitor that was much weaker than lowest recommended level that he replaced he did not try to push me to get other work done as he said they were all working sufficiently for now. Very pleasant office personnel and worker who only did the work that was recommended and did not try to push work that wasn't but gave me advice instead. Pulling A/C unit off the ground, doing what he did with switch and giving me advice and recommendations so I can properly manage my A/C with what I can do were ways he went above and beyond what he had to do and are the reasons I am giving a great recommendation.

I liked their excellent customer service and that they were able to help me quickly. I also liked how the guy that came out to service me explained everything that he was doing.

They did a good job. We bought a new house and they the service on our units. It was a good deal and they even did some other jobs for us after that.

Worker was prompt polite and informative. Showed me step by step what the problem was and how to repair. Answered questions no problem!

Purchased a Big Deal for Empire Heating & Air Conditioning. Keith was excellent, he did the inspection and explained in detail what he was doing. He had to replace the capacitor. He told me what I needed to do to maintain my system on a regular basis.

They were prompt and courteous. All work was performed well. Did a lot of comparison shopping and found their pricing to be the best.

Chris was punctual, knowledgeable and provided only the services we needed. He did not try to up sale filters, etc. if they not need replacing.

Removing a system is a messy job, but the technicians at Empire performed it well. There was no trace left of the old system when they finished. Installed the new system and set it up to operate. Everything was done in one day, something I didn't expect. Working in a condo presents a different set of problems than working in a detached residence. The people at Empire knew what to do to conform to the regulations of the condo. Great People!

Empire provided a quote for the work and followed up on all questions concering the means and methods for doing the work. They provided financing information when requested although we decided not to use the financing. Upon getting clarifications and accepting the quote, Empire scheduled a date and time to start work and established an approximate duration for the work. Empire started the work on time and completed work within the time promised. A few minor issues were resolved at the end of the work. Upon further inspection we determined that an aspect of the work had been omitted. We contacted Empire and were told that they had made the same determination from job photographs provided by their employee. A date and time was scheduled to resolve the issue. Empire successfully completed the work. We were very satisfied with our experience from quotation to closeout. Empire's response to any contact we made was prompt, courteous, and professional. The employees that worked in our house were friendly and we were very comfortable having them in our house.

The technician arrived at the scheduled time and he was professional and did a through job in a timely manner.

They were awesome! They were very professional. I had 4 different contractors give me bids and quotes and go over the scope of work to be done. I live in a condo, so they had to integrate into the existing system. They walked me through all of the options. They came across as the most competent, and really knew what they were doing. They were very clean, very thorough, and even followed up twice afterwards to make sure there no problems after the work was complete. When I chose them I really felt like I was making the right choice and after they followed up with me I knew that my feeling had been correct! I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them to other Angie’s List members!
