When I signed the contract I stated that i could not exceed $13K; he agreed that we could do the repairs in phases to ease the financial burden. He charged me by the hour and constantly interrupted his "workers" delaying the completion time and adding the charges to my bill. I even paid for their time while they were arguing among themselves. Unprofessional. They did not clean up after themselves and left the job unfinished. I had to finish a part of the job myself. Their painting was sloppy and not cleaned up. The door handles and windows have paint that i cannot get to. I am a 58 yro woman with arthritic knees and cannot climb ladders. I am still picking up nails and tacks from my yard. They constantly smoked and tossed their cigarette butts on the ground. It took a while to get the smell of smoke out of my house.

Contractor insisted that we proceed on a per man-hour basis at $35 per. Days past and progress was extremely slow. Several times the contractor billed me multiple man hours for stopping at a supply store and picking up materials for the job. First time he charged 2 man-hours ($70), then he tried to charge me 3 man-hours to pick up some scaffolding. The contractor did none of the work and actually slowed up the workers by being on site talking to them. It became obvious that he was trying to stretch out the job. About the 3rd. or 4th week, he brought in a worker to repair the stucco on the outside ,around the window. The stucco man said the cement, the foam board, and sand which the contractor purchased and billed me for, was not the right materials. I contacted the contractor and asked him to return the materials and purchase the proper supplies. The contractor told me I should do that because, if he had to return them, he would have to charge me for the time required to do that. I had already paid him over $70 to go get this stuff and he now wanted me to pay for his time to correct his error. I immediately terminated him and hired a local man to finish the job, on a bid basis. The new guy finished in a timely manner, performing excellent work, and for alot less than the original "bandit' would have charged. I feel bad for anyone unfortunate enough to unknowingly hire this contractor.
