Atlanta Chimney Worx

I love my gas logs, and was concerned that I might not be able to afford the repairs quoted by another source. The previous estimate - $1500 - was for replacing the gas valve entirely, which meant drilling through the brick and concrete hearth, replacing the valve, and then reconstructing the hearth. So I looked on Angie's List for a company that might do the repairs less expensively, and Atlanta Chimney Worx was the top-rated company for gas logs. I emailed them, and received a call that evening from the owner, Arvydas Didas. He told me that there's a safe way to make the gas usable without drilling through the brick and concrete, and quoted a price of $200 (before even seeing the fireplace). We set up an appointment for today (less than a week after I first contacted the company). This morning, Arvydas and his helper, Josh, arrived around 9:30. They checked the gas valve in my crawl space, before doing anything in the fireplace. Then they installed a new on/off valve that is joined to the gas line itself, and didn't require drilling into the hearth. The whole installation took less than an hour. Now, to use the gas logs, I can turn the gas on with just a turn of the knob, and turn it off the same way. I am so happy to have found Atlanta Chimney Worx! This is an especially tight time for me financially, and I couldn't see spending more than a mortgage payment to fix a "luxury" item like gas logs. But, thanks to Arvydas's knowledge, for a total of $200 I am ready for cold weather and mornings by the fire with a cup of coffee (Fair Trade coffee, of course). Arvydas was friendly and professional. If I ever need other work done on my fireplace, I will be sure to call him! I see that Atlanta Chimney Worx is classified by Angie's List as a "chimney sweep." I think this is not fully accurate. Arvydas's card shows that they do: fireplace sales, installation, maintenance, and gas logs.

He was neat, considering what he was doing. He also explained to us that although the previous owner said they never used it that it had been used so often that if we tried to light a light a fire the way the flue was it would have started a fire.

Was great. I called at the last minute...about a day before the big ice storm was scheduled to hit. They put me onto the schedule.

After looking for a chimney shroud and reading reviews on here I contacted Atlanta Chimney Worx. They were offering a special deal, and it appeared that their pricing was good. I reached out, explained that the size allowed for in the deal would not work and I would like some small design modifications. We set our first appointment for June 19, 2014. Arvydas did not arrive on time. I had to call twice to find out when he would be at our house. I showed him the design of the chimney shroud that we were looking for. He asked to go up on the roof to take measurements and then to come inside. I was promised a quote in 2 days. 2 days came and went and I never received a quote. Finally on June 25th, I was sent a photo of a different design and a price almost 10 times that of his advertised special. While I liked the design, it was out of my budget. Over the next several weeks (until today) I have tried to work with Atlanta Chimney Worx to determine a design that I could afford that would meet my needs. Finally today I received a message that he believes I should work with someone else because the design I wanted 'would interfere with my exhaust fans' and he can't do it at a price that I would be happy with. Of course he never offered a price on the design that I requested. Additionally, the design that I designed, would be less restrictive of the fans than the expensive design he proposed. Feels like a bait and switch from the Angie's List advertisement. He saw an expensive house and thought he could up-sell the job, and when he couldn't, wasn't interested in the work. It only took him 45 days to tell me that.

First visit: inspected chimney, determined flaws and plan of action. Installed cap. Second visit: installed damper. Friendly, professional, knowledgeable and reasonably priced.

I cancelled the Big Deal due to extra cost as a traveling fee.

The service went well. I paid an additional fee to also clean the chimney. Their pricing is competitive. Two people came out for the job and completed the service in about an hour and a half. They did a very good job and were neat in their work. They were able to fix the grill and did not try to charge me for unnecessary parts. They were very nice and professional. They were great with the cleanup afterwards. I discovered I was outside of their area of coverage, but they were happy to come out anyway since they were committed to the service already. They did not charge me to go outside of their service area. I had no problem contacting the company or scheduling their service.

Arvydas was very professional, friendly, and worked efficiently. He also took a look at my gas fireplace and showed me how to operate it. I would not hesitate to recommend him.

He came on time, did the work quickly and didn't try to sell me anything new. Honest, capable and personable.

The guy rocked! Arrived while I wasn't home because he was nearby. Sent me pictures of the issue and gave me a price. I agreed and 2 weeks later the part was fabricated and ready for install. He inspected the chimney and was prompt and efficient. Extremely happy with it!

They were very professional, arrived on time, cleaned the chimney, then performed the inspection. When the inspection was competed, which included pictures of the chimney cap, I was informed of the results. No additional work was needed.

Once we got the scheduling mix up taken care of I was very impressed with this company. He was apologetic about the scheduling error and took time to explain various options to updating my fireplace. He did a great job cleaning out the the fireplace and chimney. I will use them again.

They did fine. They responded promptly and returned my phone calls. He was thorough and did a good job. He was clean and he didn’t charge me for more than what he needed to do. He didn’t try to sell me stuff.

The project went well. Arvydas was professional and cleaned up the mess before leaving.

He was quick, I thought he was reasonably priced, being in a chimney sweep, that job can be somewhat messy obviously and this guy just handled it well, I didn't have any problem, he was in and out, he was just completely clean, no sort of residual left overs from him. He is actually the guy I called two or three times before I did business with him and either he always would pick up or he always got back to me if I have questions, really good guy, solid and very direct.

Based on all of the positive reviews, I believe my experience was just a glitch. I purchased the voucher on 6/16, and was surprised to find a business card in my mailbox that evening. What great service! They'd already been by. I waited several days, but received no communication until I called leaving a message to find out if I needed to do anything. After no response, I called a second time. Then a received a very-hard-to-hear voice message (must have been a bad connection) telling me they spoke to my roommate. That and I need to call a roofer was all I could make out. I called back and left a voice message that I couldn't make out their voice message and it wasn't a wise idea to communicate with my tenants especially since I am the landlord and I am the one purchasing a product and service. I also asked if they are advising me to call a roofer. Then I sent a message via Angie's list to Chimney Worx stating that I couldn't understand the voice message and again asking if they advised me to call a roofer. I have received no response. So, I would like a refund of this voucher please.

Went great! Will use again. He's honest and will only do what is necessary without trying to conduct a sales pitch.
