American Landscaping Crew

I called American Landscaping Crew and spoke to Ruben asking for a quote on installing some type of water feature in our backyard. (We weren't exactly sure what we could do in our yard, but knew we wanted some type of water feature.) Allen from American Landscaping called me back to schedule a time and showed up on the date as promised. In fact he was early. Allen listened to what we were looking for and offered several ideas. We eventually went with Allen's recommendation for a water feature that was approximately 25' x 5' with two drops. Where Allen suggested we place the water feature made the most sense due to the lay of our property. Ruben then sent me a proposal showing exactly what work would be done and the price. Once we agreed with his proposal, Ruben scheduled the work. They were about 4 weeks out which was okay by us. However, they contacted me about 5 days prior to our scheduled date and told us they could start the next day if it was convenient with us.... which it was. That next day, their crew showed up early and began the work... digging a 25' trench that sloped to an area where the pump/filter would be placed and where the water would collect. They installed a very thick/heavy duty liner, then began installing the stone and rock that would make up the base and sides of the water feature. What caught my attention was the thought/detail their guys put into laying down those stones/rocks. Almost like putting a puzzle together so that everything fit well and looked natural. (My wife joked that if it was me doing that work, I would have just dumped all the stones - probably true!) When the stones/rocks and waterfall were in place, they planted a handful of shrubs to soften up the look. Then proceeded to move the gate and stone walkway. As the crew was cleaning up, their foreman Hugo made sure I was happy with the work and asked me if I had any concerns. He then proceeded to show me where the pump/filter were located as well as three underwater lights that they installed in the 'pool' area. It was a 2 day project. Overall, they were a hard-working crew who did a very professional job and cleaned up the area when they finished. We couldn't be happier with the water feature. ** I especially like the remote control Hugo gave me so I can turn on the pump from our deck! We have some other outside work around our home... specifically a hill we would like to have terraced. So I will be contacting Ruben again.

The estimating process is in progress. I am so looking forward to the official estimate. I have a lot of hardscaping I am attempting.

Phone calls between myself and the owner Ruben were handled very promptly. He was able to answer all my questions. Work was performed while I wasn't home, which I don't mind. I sent him an email with the exact location of where i wanted the patio and his team followed those directions exactly. Work could have been a little cleaner. His workers used my water hose and connectors that were outside but did not connect them back properly. Also, they left huge trails of mud alongside the house, which I believe came from their equipment. His workers stayed at the property for about 30mins so I could give them payment. I asked for a receipt, but his workers told me to contact owner, Ruben for a receipt. I've called but haven't received a return phone call or email with the receipt. It would have been nice to receive a follow-up call from the owner about my satisfaction, his employees quality of work, etc. He's received payment and I haven't heard from him since. Hopefully Angie's List can help me get a receipt for my recordkeeping purposes. Receipts like this are very important when you're looking to sale your property later down the line, and you're trying to show much equity or how much work you've put into the home. Overall, service was good, but cleanup and follow-up could have been better.

Working with American Landscaping was a great experience, they were very responsive, showed up when they promised and did excellent work. The stone masons that did my work were top notch, the finished stacked stone walls were perfect. I have already recommended them to my neighbors.

The guy came out and gave us a free estimate. The amount that it came out to was a bit more than we were wanting to spend this year. He was excellent and very helpful. We wouldn't mind looking into using him later on down the road.

Ruben the office manager worked with me on several occasions to help us to select the design and tailor our project to meet our budget, need and desire. The crew went above and beyond what was agreed in our contract. They were punctual, professional and extremely hard working. They were highly skilled and the transformation of my yard and pool area is amazing. I joined Angie's list 6 months ago because we were fed up with mediocre contractors and crew, finally we found this company and they have been the best company that has done work for us. They did an impeccable job and cleaned up after themselves naturally. We would strongly recommend this business and use them again in the future.

It went well. It took a while for me to get them out due to I had not realized the price did not include disposal of trees so I had to save more money to rent a dumpster to put the cut trees in. It was much cheaper than getting them to haul it off for me. Otherwise, once they came out they did a great job - worked all day and cut down about 20-25 pine trees that were too close to the house. I feel that I definitely got my monies worth and Rueben was always responsive and followed up with us. I would use them again.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that we purchased. It went well. We added additional things. It turned out pretty good. The patio is very nice. The workers were pleasant. The price was good.

We called on Friday Jan 17th to get an estimate for a new driveway at our lake house. My husband spoke with Mr. Crespo who said they will do work in Waleska, GA. We made arrangements to meet to walk the property and get an estimate. He agreed to meet us on Tuesday, Jan 21st at 9:30am. We got to the property and Mr. Crespo called us at 9:25am to say he changed his mind it was too far. It takes us 1 hour to get there, so we drove there for nothing. He apologized and admitted it was not good practice. I am very annoyed because he knew exactly where my community is and agreed to meet. Very unprofessional and I hope for others to know my experience before choosing this company so they are informed.

The work was done thoroughly and well. I did not like the "coupon" approach, though. I thought I was buying 40 hours of work at a discounted price. After the consultation, though, at which we pointed out the landscaping areas to focus on for those 40 hours, we were given an estimate for completing more work for more money. We were not forced to agree, but I was expecting to just get the hours I had paid for -- not an estimate for which those hours would only be a part. I won't likely click on an Angie's List "deal" again as a result. The work was probably priced fairly (and it was completed to my great satisfaction), but a spontaneous purchase turned into a bigger and more expensive project than I had planned for.

This will be a major landscaping project, including retaining wall, to resolve drainage problem in our front yard. They will also rebuild the brick sidewalks and brick front porch. The work will be done in the spring, so I cannot currently provide detail on the quality of their work. I was very impressed with their professionalism and customer service. They responded quickly, were prompt, provided detail and suggestions on various ways to resolve the drainage problem. They were thorough and followed through a few days later to see if we had any questions once we had a chance to go over the scope of the job. So far, I would recommend their business and will provide further feedback once the job is complete.

I am very pleased with American Landscaping Crew for the job they did on replacing rotted out timber steps with poured concrete and a general cleanup of vegetation in and around the work area. The difference in the place is like night and day. | |The crew arrived precisely when they said they would on Thursday, worked long hours, with few, if any breaks and no one was standing around at any time. My job required two days with 3 men plus supervisor and 1 day with one man and supervisor. | |In that time, the crew removed the old steps and debris, removed vegetation, leaves, old fencing, trimmed tree branches and more, then built concrete forms over the old step forms in the earth on day one. Rebar and concrete reinforcing wire was used inside the forms. The next day Friday it rained, so I was contacted promptly that the job would resume following the rain on Saturday. | |On Friday with one day of work done, Reuben Crespo, contacted me with a revised estimate of the job and the total cost, so as to keep me informed of what the final costs would likely be. I had contracted the deal on a special offer for a flat fee of 40 hours labor. Materials, fuel charges, and concrete mixer charges were not included in that price. With one day of work done and an estimate by Hugo Crespo, the supervisor on the job, a more refined final estimate could be made. | |The crew arrived early on Saturday morning and began mixing and pouring approximately 100 bags of concrete. Since I needed less than a full concrete truck of mix, this was the least expensive option as suggested by Reuben Crespo, the office manager of the business. Turned out that he was correct. The concrete work was completed on Saturday and the crew removed all extraneous work materials and cleaned the area, leaving the forms in place for a few days for the concrete to cure. | |On Sunday, I received yet another call from Reuben Crespo with yet another estimate of what the final charges were likely to be, and was told that the final cleanup, touch-up, and removal of the forms would only take two hours and involve two men only. | |That work was done on the following Tuesday and I received an itemized bill of all materials, labor, etc: "The project took 58 hours (28, 28, and 2 Hrs.) 18 hours over the 40 hours paid with the coupon. Hours cost $675.00, the material cost were $15.33, $11.36, and $501.22, minus a refund of $148.00, fuel charge $70, concrete mixer charge $100." | |Note the refund on materials that were purchased but not used. | |These are honest, very hard working men who operate in the open with continuous updating of where you are with respect to the initial job estimate in an effort to be more than transparent. There were no surprises as a result in the final tally. | |I like that! | |The quality of the work was excellent. The crew was courteous and very hard working. Communication between the business management and the customer is outstanding. | |Hugo Crespo, on the final day, also went beyond what we had agreed on while the job was in progress. I had insisted that the final concrete pad in the series of descending steps be extended by 7 inches so that another wooden step leading to a deck landing would rest on the new concrete pad. | |This involved detaching the old wooden steps and removing one full step. Mr. Crespo readily did this and when the time came, he repaired the step, made sure it was level, and then reinstalled it for me though I said at the time it was removed that I would be responsible for the reinstallation. Going beyond this, Mr. Crespo installed and anchored a flexible drain pipe for me to carry water away from my newly poured steps. He also picked up and repositioned about 20 concrete paving blocks that had been misplaced by one of the crew as they were cleaning up. | |I will use this crew again and would recommend them to anyone.

Completed several small jobs around our home, including installing a rain barrel, trimming dead branches off tree, cleaning out and mulching a bed, and cleaning out a grouping of trees. They did a beautiful job and did some extra touches (like mulching other trees/bushes) that went above and beyond. Will definitely use again.

I called and spoke with them prior to purchasing it to make sure that it would meet my needs and get my questions answered. I purchased it and he came out to give an estimate and was supposed to get back with me with the quote. I waited three weeks for the quote and contacted them multiple times within that three weeks, I called and emailed. They kept saying they would send something out and they didn't. Finally, I called and they said they had lost my info and my estimate, they said they would have to recreate it. The estimate they sent was a joke, a poorly formatted Word Document, with a list of things that they wanted to do and only a total, did not itemize even though I was told that they would. I made it very clear to the gentlemen that what I wanted was to have plants that I have on site to be planted, they sent me an email with all of these other items listed, "installed existing plant material", but didn't tell me where they would be planting them. I was told they would be sending me a landscape design to make changes to, but I received a Word Document.

The crew was on time and worked diligently all day. The crew foreman and the project estimator both came by to check on the crew's progress and confirm that the work was being done to my satisfaction. Everyone was very professional.

I contacted the company for a project estimate and a very nice gentleman named Allen Cody came, spoke with me about my project and seemed very knowledgeable. The problem came in getting follow up questions responded to by Ruben Crespo, the individual who actually e-mailed me the estimate. I sent a question asking for a breakdown of the estimate into the various components of the project, specifically, the demo of the existing porch and the cost for the buried drainage Mr. Cody had proposed. These were elements of the project we were considering doing ourselves or using an alternative (a rain barrel). Mr. Crespo did not respond, so approximately a week later I emailed Mr. Cody asking him the same question. Mr. Cody was prompt in his response, and Mr. Crespo did, the next day, answer part of my question. I sent another email asking again about the cost of the buried drainage pipe but never heard back, so I will not be using their services. I was very impressed with Mr. Cody but very disappointed in Mr. Crespo's unresponsiveness.

Found less expensive option for driveway and placed very elegant walkway to side kitchen mini-patio. Finished as scheduled with great clean-up of work area.

They did an excellent job. This was an unusual project, over terrain that hadn't been cut down and dealt with in many years. The member of the team they sent out for the initial consultation was easy to talk to, immediately got what we wanted to do, and came up with good suggestions of his own. He was excited about the project himself and came every day to inspect the work as it progressed and make sure we were getting what we wanted. The landscaping crew itself worked very well. They came on time and completed very hard work quickly and with care. They were responsive to concerns as they arose. We weren't quite sure what we were going to find on the land, and it turned out to require more gravel than expected, due to the wetness of the terrain, but they went back and brought more gravel as needed. They were polite and cleaned up well. They left us with a very nice finished product. We would definitely use them again to continue our outdoor improvements. A very professional operation with reasonable prices.

This job was wonderful, they sent me pictures, if they were going to be late they would let me know, the price was reasonable, they seemed to know what they were doing and I would highly recommend them.

The company called to set up an estimate. The contact arrived as scheduled. When I got the estimate, it seemed very expensive, and I was told that the coupon had already been applied.

In the beginning it was a little rocky but we were able to work something out. The job done was pretty good. I had to pay for the materials total of $1,250 including the deal. He's responsive. He started to work on the day that I said not to but he went and did it anyway. He was too early about time.
