American Landscaping Crew

It worked out really well. This was an $899 big deal purchase. I had to talk with them several times on the phone and I even had to tell them that I would not be able to give them a good grade if they didn't come out and do what they said they would do which is what we worked out through Angie's List by a certain date. My understanding was that I only had 30 days for them to do the work within the time I paid for this special deal. I wanted them to come out and do the work two days before the sale was over. The only way they would do that was because I complained to them and told them I would not be able to give them a good Angie's List rating because they did not come out and do what they said they would do, and so they did. he had all six of his guys come out and they got it done in a couple of hours. But that is how I got them out there. He complained about how much work there was to do and that we should be paying more because they have to pay their oil. Then he decided to go ahead and do it for the price. He said they would be there in late afternoon and they were. Whoever uses them is going to have to press to hold them to get them out there.

Well they did a great job on the landscaping, but they moved the sprinkler and it's been two weeks and I am trying to get them to come back out to fix it because the sprinkler is not working and they not showing up and I was really disappointed, that's what they do and now I cant water the flowers like I need to so.they did a great job on the landscaping it's just the service, coming back to fix what is not working that I cant get handle.

Robert provided us with an estimate for our requested work very quickly -- all within a day or 2 of our first communication with the company. After we accepted the proposal, work was begun with a few days and completed in 3 days. Throughout the 3 days, communication with Robert and Ruben (in their office) was very good and they kept us informed of exactly what was going on with the project. Everything we asked for was completed and is beautiful. Removing the railroad ties and installing the Belgard blocks was a backbreaking job, but the workers did a wonderful job. Our new sod in the same area as the new retaining wall was left looking as good (if not better!), than before the job was begun. The new gravel area is exactly what we wanted and the Belgard block steps they created in that same area exceeded our expectations. It was a pleasure dealing with this company and we hope to use their services again in the future!

They were easy to work with. Scheduling was a breeze. Work was very thorough. We were pleased with the job.

First of all, I've spent an immense amount of time researching landscaping companies on Angie's and have had good luck until I called ALC. Prior to ALC coming out, 3 different people have told me that sod will NOT grow in my yard because of all the shade. When I asked Robert about fescue he told me that he was certain sod WOULD grow in my yard. I asked him to quote fescue in addition to "sod", and that was the last I heard from him. Never received an estimate. UPDATE (4/11/16) - I have received the estimates from ALC.

Hugo, the job foreman, and his crew arrived at 8:30 AM as promised to start the project. They demolished and removed the existing cement sidewalk and steps and relocated the new sidewalk and steps to a different location as requested. All of the work was done by hand and the crew was neat and meticulous. They then began the task of removing a 2' high x 50' long retaining wall including a crumbling stone stairway with a 12' drop. As requested, they built the new stairway in a completely new location. Since the wall and stairs were located in a tight location all of this work was also done by hand. The job was completed in 3-4 days. The crew arrived each day at 8:30 AM and worked non-stop until well after 5:00 PM. They were courteous and professional and did an outstanding job. When the job was complete they cleaned up and left my property in much better condition than they found it. I would not hesitate to use them again.

Ruben the owner was very responsive. I purchased the big deal for $899 for 14 hours work and $450 credit towards materials costs. His crew leader Roberto came out to provide consulting service on the work that I wanted done. The initial work that I planned to have done included laying down sod and planting 16 new plants. For various reasons, I decided to do it in phases...the first phase being to lay down pine straw and install 2 flower beds. They came and did the work 2 days later which was prompt service. They did a great job. I'm quite comfortable going on to the next phase based on this initial work.

The deal clearly stated that the buyer would receive a package valued at $1400.00 for $899.00. After the purchase a rep came out to look at our yard and discuss our needs. I asked that the labor and material be broken down so that I would know exactly what we were paying for. We asked for pricing on 3 separate projects. 1 was for replacing bushes along the rear of the house, 1 was for new sod and 1 was for a redesign of an area near the fence line. They put everything under 1 quote which came to just over $12,000.00. They put on the quote a "credit" of $899.00 for the deal I purchased through Angie's List. When I spoke to the owner about why he was not giving me the full value of the deal at $1400.00 towards the purchase price he told me that it didn't work that way. The real value was only what I had paid for it, which was $899.00. This was based on a material value of "up to $450.00" and labor "up to 14 hours". After talking with him over a couple of days I decided to take advantage of the 30 day refund guarantee and ask Angie's List for a refund. It was after I made the request that Rubin, the owner contacted me again and apologized for the misunderstanding and agreed to give me the full value of the deal which was $1400.00 towards the contract price. Too Late! I'm glad that he played games with me because I would have signed the $12,000.00 contract had he just put the $1400.00 credit in there. Trusting Angie's List. I called a few other companies for quotes and went with a company that was about 1/2 the price of American Landscape. Be Careful with this company and read all of their reviews. The negative ones.

Was quickly scheduled and then arrived early. Kept in communication with me and answered the phone when I called with a question and quickly responded. Arrived in the morning and completed work same day. It was seriously a mess of an overgrown back yard and they cleaned it thoroughly, placed pine straw, matched up my patio stones and made a beautiful patio. Fixed and repaired the front brick planter and placed numerous large azaleas and Camilla bushes in the front yard digging in that hard clay soil and mixed it well. Everything looks beautiful and I just love what they did. They took my make it pretty, expand the patio and clean and here is the budget and turned it into something wonderful, quickly, on time and on budget. Couldn't be happier. Will use them again next spring to really finish the last bit of landscaping in the back when I expand on it some more.

Ruben's crew at American Landscaping did an excellent job on our home. Ruben called me the morning after I purchased the $899 coupon (a Thursday), and one of his estimators was out the following Monday. Michael, the estimator, helped us immensely. He was willing to talk us through our entire front yard, even areas he wouldn't be able to include in the $899 makeover coupon. We got the estimate within two days of the first visit, and we were on the calendar the following Monday for an install. Ruben's team got done in about half a day -- I believe there were five folks working on our yard. They were fast, but also thorough, and they made our yard look 10x better than it did. They talked me through proper care of the new shrubs, and spread some of the extra mulch they had in an area we hadn't originally planned to touch, which was a nice bonus. The coupon is very convenient, as Ruben's team does all the work and purchases all the materials. They buy their materials at Pike's and Home Depot, so they don't get a discount, and they ended up spending a little more than $450 to buy the materials they used at our home. We paid them an extra $171 to cover the extra materials, but the foreman provided the receipts and I could see they spent $620 on the materials. In addition, plants from Pike come with a one-year no questions asked warranty, and I was ok with paying a little extra for that. All in all, we would use American Landscaping again. Their biggest strength for us was their responsiveness and promptness.

I spoke with Allen regarding my initial inquiry. Allen showed up on Tuesday February 16th on time, and actually a few early which is always a bonus. He was communicative on the phone, professional and courteous in person. We walked the property, spoke for 45 minutes about varying ideas, ending with Allen taking measurements and saying we'd have a quote Friday or Saturday of that week. On Monday the 21st I called and followed up with Allen on a status, he indicated the quote had been sent, and may have been lost in a spam folder. As I felt this was possible, I re-gave my contact information and since then have received no contact or follow up. I emailed them directly early Feb 23rd again to for additional follow up and again no response. Emailed quotes were received on Feb 23 shortly after this posting. Since then they've been responsive on changes.

I was very upset about my flooding issues and these guys were very understanding and patient with me. The drain pipes had to go under my neighbor's fence in order for the water to go to a huge drainage system in their backyard. They installed all the pipes and worked under the neighbor's fence without causing any damage to the fence. I was very happy with the work that was done. The reason I didn't review sooner is because I wanted to wait to see how the drainage went. We have had several severe storms, and I am happy to say that the water never came near my house, which was my main concern. These guys did the amount of work I could afford, and told me the drainage pipes would correct about 75% of the problem. I previously had water damage inside my home, and sometimes my screened porch would get flooded. Even with the severe weather we have had, this no longer happened. I am very pleased with the work done. They also left the property in excellent condition with nothing left from their digging, etc.

It was okay. I don't think the guy who came knew what he was doing. They should put the plants that they said they were going to. They put plants that weren't on the contract. They need a better and knowledgeable supervisor.

Everything looked great, and we are pleased with the work.

I am very pleased with the overall experience with American Landscaping Crew. Ruben was very responsive and they were quick to give me an estimate. Their price is very reasonable and they are true professionals in their field. Once an appointment was set, Ruben was very clear if it had to be changed for any reason (weather, etc). The team itself was very punctual and answered every question I had. When I wanted clarification on the process/design, the team was very patient in explaining it to me and my brother. It is refreshing to work with such a professional team and trust that they will do an excellent job. The added section on the driveway and the walkway look great and the team completed both portions in 2 days. I'm happy to have found a company that is easy to deal with, reasonably priced, and does a professional trustworthy job. I'll definitely be using them in the future should I need landscaping performed.

.The price was agreed on and the crew showed up exactly on time. My wife and I requested a few last minute changes. The price was adjusted and work began. We hit a couple of issues, the crew ran out of sod on the first trip and the mondo grass was not the variety we had specified. A call to Ruben, the owner, got things straightened out. Throughout the process Ruben has been the responsive party and has always bent over backwards to be helpful.

Overall work was very good. Clearing and cleaning was thorough. Pine straw was laid evenly and thick enough. The sod was shaped well and laid well. It was not rolled, but that did not present any issues. I have an issue with nutsedge and have spent most of the summer pulling the weed from the new sod. Consistent, frequent weed pulling has the nutsedge problem under control. This is the only reason the company did not receive straight 'A's from me. Please note I still will use them for future landscape projects. They are that good.

Simply put excellent job !!!! done with professionalism.

We had a very complicated, major project in replacing a failing retaining wall in our backyard. It was not an easy job due to the size and location of the wall. Alan and Ruben from American Landscape managed this project expertly and guided us through the long process of planning, permitting and execution with patience and expertise. The crews were very professional and extremely hardworking. The results are phenomenal. Our backyard looks amazing and the wall is built like Fort Knox. I definitely would recommend this company for serious, complicated projects like this!

Went well, 4 to 6 man crew each day. Very professional and friendly. Worked very hard and long hours each day. Stayed in contact with me through out the entire job. My satisfaction was their primary goal.

The consultation was a bit overwhelming or perhaps I wasn't prepared for all the questions the contractor was going to ask. I felt like I wasn't being interviewed but I suppose it all contributes to ensuring they understood my vision. I was given homework to locate a stone place to locate the type of flagstone I would like and also take pictures of walls I may be interested in, felt like I was picking out bricks for my home. The contractor was very thorough, but felt is was too much for me as for detail also in price. Ended up finding a contractor simplistic and cheaper.

American Landscaping did a very nice job on this project. They were patient - since it took a while for my HOA to approve the project. Once approved, they had a crew out the next week and they stayed on the job until completed. They identified the need to add drainage to the original plans and installed for a reasonable price. I would use them again without hesitancy. I have not had much luck using vendors through Angie's Lis, but this was a very large, expensive project, so I am happy it went so well.

Details: The owner should get rid of his brother that works on the jobs. The shrubs were put down and covered with weed control cloth and pine needles, but he never dug the hole to plant the shrubs. So they turned brown, when I found this they said they would fix it. They came with more shrubs but didn't dig them down in. They didn't fix the previous shrubs. There was a leak in the brick wall they built and clay come out the leak area and the wall is all brownish,orange color. The first quote in person the gentleman said they put end caps at both ends of the wall. There were no end caps. I felt like I got ripped off with poor work and didn't end the walls what originally was drawn on paper for me.

Well, the work looked neat and professional.
