Arbor Insulation Solutions

It went well overall. I was on a tight timeframe prior to selling the house and then had to push back the originally scheduled date. Arbor was more than accommodating of this situation and was able to complete the job. They were independent and able to install it without me being there. The price was fair and service was great.

It turned out they were doing something other than what they were advertising. They charged me more. The insulation was about $49 or whatever it was. We were really trying to get people to install the insulation around the whole house and charge us 2 or $3,000. I had a coupon on the Angie's List so I didn't want anything else. They were trying to seal the whole arctic and not just put the insulation out there. I think they were trying to pretend like they were not putting it the way it was. I told them I would need a guy to try and repair the bits on the roof and they said I would need a whole new roof. That's what it was. That happened last year some time. They came when they said they were going to. I wouldn't use them again.

Crew Chief Mathew Medlin was very well trained, knowledgeable, experienced; was highly informative/educational, and answered every one of my questions. I was not surprised after he left to see on his Arbor Insulation Solutions business card that he is Building Performance Institute Certified Professional. Insulation Services were recommended by my HVAC provider after a 2-hour inspection; Matthew's description of the services of Arbor Insulation Solutions (including the measure of air loss, which my HVAC provider mentioned from a technical article) go beyond what my HVAC company said they would provide (they don't provide the measure, pre- and post- service, the way Arbor Insulation Solutions does). I did not contract for their entire energy cost saving service yet, but I intend to. (a) I was impressed with the Quality of their product (which is why I bought the 2nd zippered seal today while they were here); and (b) the loose-fill fiberglass was contracted to bring attic insulation to R-38, but Mathew actually brought it closer to R-60. As a courtesy, he took video of the attic for me, so I didn't have to go into the attic to see their work. I was working on a tight budget today, and had 3 options of what would make the most impact for my dollars. Mathew helped me make the choice, He didn't try to sell me anything that I didn't need today. Also, both Mathew and his team technician Taylor were highly considerate of our home, such as putting dropcloths over our hardwood floors to prevent any scratching from the insulation-blowing tube, and below attic entrances to contain any attic debris. Thanks to Scott (Owner) for the Deal, Thanks to Mathew for your expertise, and Taylor for your hard work and considerations too.

It was okay. There was nothing special and nothing bad. They ended up being in a different time frame because their scheduling person has a different time than their driver. It was pretty fast. It's standard. It was what I expect from somebody who'd be hanging my attic were.

Very pleased with the results - the air sealing of the house worked out fantastic for us with a documented improvement in energy efficiency immediately, the air has also been easier to breathe since then, inside temperatures in the house have leveled off, and the AC unit doesn't seem to need to work as hard as it did previously. To be fair there were some hits and misses, thats what these reviews are for, but overall I still give these guys an "A" and recommend this service for anyone interested. I had 2 things done - the Air Sealing of the house, and the removal of old insulation in the ceilings of the garage and basement. So I'll go through both services in a better detail below. Hits ( + positives ) Job #1 - Air Sealing: I was very skeptical at first, I'm a programmer who got his start in life remodeling homes so you can imagine it was probably thier sales guys worst case scenario: a super brain who also knows how to rebuild, fix, and improve homes on a finer "Dwell Magazine" kind of scale. And typically I probably would have passed on this "air sealing" if I hadn't already heard about it and all the positive feedback from people that have had it done. I worked out a great deal with Scott Osbourne (not sure if he's related to Ozzy but he sounds just like that guy from Duck Dynasty which was a real hoot), and they were able to schedule the service for the next week. On the day of service the guys showed up on time, got to work immediately, and we're done early. Overall: they were very thorough, the crew that came over were professional, bright, clean cut, and not dirtbags like many of the people you might run into off of Angies List (sorry but its true, and the last thing anyone wants in their home is a dirtbag). These guys were amicable, focussed on their job, and trustable. Job #2 - Insulation Removal: I was going to do this one myself but after looking at the time needed, air mask, special suit, bagging and then getting a junk hauler to take it to the dump it just came out better money-wise to have these guys do the job. Same professional service described above, they got it done in rapid time. Misses ( - minuses ) Air Sealing (slight) miss: They did a very thorough job overall, and the work done looks professional (big +) but they missed one spot with the foam sealing of the rim joists where an interior basement wall meets the outside wall. I called Scott Osbourne and he had a guy come out and foam it within a day or so. No big deal and they corrected the issue immediately. Insulation Remove (slight) miss: A dirty job that anyone can empathize with for those that do it. They got all of the old insulation out, bagged it and took it away (big +) but the cleanup could have been more thorough. To be completely fair I was going to vacuum those areas afterwards anyway, but they could have been tidier. I spoke with Scott Osbourne about it and he had it taken care of. Not a big deal, just a small issue that they were happy to fix. My only critique or recommendation overall would be more follow through on the cleanup. A minor issue in light of the great job they did. Overall, very pleased with the results. The air sealing does work! I highly recommend this company to anyone looking at this service. I think the price we paid was reasonable for the professional quality work they did. As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. When it comes to making my home more efficient I know this will pay for itself over time, so it was a good investment for us.

The job went extremely well, but ended up being more complicated than the original inspection forecast. My house was built in 1920 so very few things are standard or comparable to newer construction. Among those irregularities is the fact my crawlspace is not level and contains two sizeable "valleys" in its elevation. This caused the draping of the vapor barrier to be much more tedious and time consuming than originally thought so I must highly commend the two service pros who did a masterful job dealing with a major curveball and leaving me with a great looking installation. The custom attic hatch was built to exact specification and fits like a glove over my access point. For the first time since living in this house there is no longer a constant draft from the basement up through the attic. I cannot say enough good things about Arbor Insulation Solutions and highly recomment their services. They were easy to schedule and Caryl is a great, friendly representative for the company.

I bought a big deal for this service and it went fine. They were very professional and I am assuming they did everything the way they were supposed to. They tried to get me to buy more based on the square feet of the area that I had, but they were fine when I said no, I just wanted what I paid for. I was pleased.

Provider performed an extensive energy audit on the property using some pretty interesting methods. Chose not to pursue remediation at this time, but the audit was well worth the money!

Purchased Angies List deal and was upsold when they came to house. Not complaining, just giving you a heads-up. This isnt unusual for AL providers who leverage deals as loss-leaders. As for Arbor, our house has had warm/cool spots for years and with some minor renovations going on the time was right to upgrade. Matt and his crew were prompt, professional and did an excellent job. We have felt an immediate difference and are happy with the purchase.

I have no complaints. It was fair. It was good. They were professional.

I purchased the home inspection coupon on Angie's List to check the insulation in my attic and get a recommendation as to whether more was needed or not. The salesman, after looking in my attic and around my house and performing a very short blower door test, gave me a list of what he recommended be done at my house. I could choose to have all the work performed or just pick and choose what I wanted done. The estimate was extremely high! It only recommended bringing my insulation level to the R-38 level. When I asked about adding more, I was told that it was overkill if I wanted to take it to the R-49 level but could if I wanted to spend the money. I told the salesman that I would think about it and said that I was getting estimates from different companies. The next day, I received a call from the salesman wanting to know my decision. Comments made by the salesman, his company's high prices and perceived pressure all led to my decision not to go with this company.

First of all, their deals appear to merely be ploys to gain access to your home in order to do a sales pitch for their services. When I called to schedule the service the lady told me that a person would first come out to measure the home and should be there for a very short amount of time. She mentioned that the service would not be performed at this visit. I was okay with that. They kept having to reschedule the date because of internal issues, so in the end I decided on a time that was not entirely convenient, but would be fine since it was supposed to be a "short" visit. When the rep arrived, I mentioned that I knew service was not going to be done and that measurements were supposed to be taken. I had family in town and expected it not to be disruptive. The rep then proceeded to give me a one hour presentation on everything that he felt needed to be done to our property when I kept telling him that I don't have much time right now. He didn't seem to take a hint and kept going with his long sales pitch. He was also going to do another test on my home which would take another 30 minutes when I said that I honestly just needed him to leave. In the end he gave me a quote that was for about $4000 worth of work that was recommended. I of course shopped around and was able to find much better rates for the same service. I was not at all happy with the sales pitch. I called other insulation companies and they did not bother with such a pitch and just gave me a quote for the services they recommended. I ended up going with another provider and they did an excellent job and requested a refund from Angie's List for this deal.

We set up an appointment three weeks ahead, however they did not show up when I had taken a day off from work, so we had to reschedule for another week out. When they did show up the person was injured and barely able to walk. He went into the attic to check the insulation and was unable to inspect or give an accurate estimate of the square footage. I even offered to help him measure and he began trying to renegotiate the deal I purchased. I told him I wanted to increase my current insulation like the deal offered. He quoted a price stating he wanted me to get a refund for my current deal and he would setup another offer for me. I told him that is not what I wanted and I just needed a top off which is what the deal offered. He was adamant about wanting me to get a refund and go with another offer he was proposing. I told him no.

They did a great job blowing in the insulation into my attic space. They also built an insulated box barrier for the pull down attic stairs. They were very clean and careful to not mess the rest of my house up. :) Very professional and a pleasure to work with. Will use them again in the future.

They did a good job. It took a few weeks for them to call and set it up. They came out to take a look, and recommend I change some things, which I didn't ask for. I never heard back till I followed up with them. They kept trying to get me to add on services when all I wanted was the insulation blown in.

It took a while to coordinate a date the insulation was blown-into my attic. The tenant's heating bill was less than last year at this time, so I think the quality and VALUE is there.

The install crew was great. They arrived on time, were very professional, and recommended action steps to improve my overall house. I will call them back when i am ready to take next steps. Thank you.

Everything went fine. The only exception was the installation of the magnetic attic fan cover. After receiving the quote from the company, I opted to purchase one at line at less cost. When the installer arrived, he told me he could install it for me, I opted to have him do it as I figured he knew what he was doing. The job was amateur at best. The cut was uneven and there is still a small gap on one side. Probably defeated the whole purpose. The guys who were in my attic were great! Very helpful, polite and seemed to do a great job. Cleaned up before they left. This part was excellent! I wanted to post an update to this review. I was very surprised when I received a phone call from the company, they had read my review and actually told me they would come out an install a new interior attic fan cover. Within two days they sent someone out and he installed a new cover. The job was excellent and once again I was very impressed with the professionalism of the installer. He called before he came and was very polite and a great representative of the company. I could not be more pleased with the work they did. When I need insulation in the future I will definitely use them and will recommend them to anyone needing this type of service! Thanks Guys you did great work!

These guys were great all around. Very professional. Naturally I understand that the Agnie's list deal I bought is a loss leader for them and they did provide estimates of various other recommended sealing and insulation services, but they were very professional when I indicated all I needed was the special at this time. Frankly the inspection, advice, and pressure test alone are almost worth the price I paid, even thought I was buying the deal for the insulation. I will definitely call them anytime I need professional services for insulation and related areas

The service went according to plan. I paid an additional fee for some extra work and installations per their recommendations. The deal was to lay a plastic sheet and we paid extra to also have them lay a barrier. They had great recommendations. They even discovered a gas leak in the crawl space and we were able to contact the gas people to get the taken care of. Three technicians came out and completed the job in about 3 and a half hours. They did exactly what they said they would and communicated well. They were professional and scheduling was not an issue. I was very happy to find the deal and satisfied with the work done.

So far, so good. I'm still waiting to see if it holds up over time.

A person who came initially to our house was very knowledgeable , his name was Dan. He did not try to push any products or anything we did not need, we liked him very much. The team that did the work from Arbor were very communicative about their plans for the work to insure we were in agreement before they proceeded with the work. At first, we thought the work they did was very thorough and professional. However after we checked if the ProVent baffles were installed in all areas on the roof, we discovered they were not. They cut corners, they installed ProVent baffles for the air flow on the top of the roof where we could see them sticking out from under the insulation, when we checked the bottom and the middle section, there was no ProVent baffles, so basically there was air flow which is necessary in that area of the roof. The insulation was in immediate contact with the roof sheathing. It was a huge disappointment to see they tried to fool us and in result do more damage than good to our house. They came back to correct the problem after we contacted them. It is a shame you cannot trust a professional company to do the job right. They cleaned up the floors but left plastic wraps from the insulation in the attic lying against the furnace. Luckily it did not catch fire.

The actual service went well. The installers were prompt, professional, and did the work well, and also cleaned up well. The only suggestion I have is lessen the hard sell on upgrading the service. The initial contact salesman did a very thorough job inspecting the house for an energy audit, but the process was lengthy, and the upsell technique was on the hard side. Other than that, this was a fantastic deal!

Arbor Insulation honored a special purchased on Angie's List for 500 sf of blown insulation and gave me a quote to finish the rest of the attic. Upon a diagnosis of the current insulation, I decided to have the whole attic insulated. An appointment was scheduled for a week later. Two guys were in and in and out in less than 2 hours leaving no mess behind. I would definitely use them again, especially if they offer the same deal for the first 500 sf.

They came out and we got it done. They did the work. It was like $285 or something like that for insulation or anything. The thing is, when they came out to do the full blown thing, it went up being like $3500 and I backed them down and just basic blown insulation and it was still another $1300 on top of that so I thought it was a little misleading but there's really nothing I can do about it. It's not really that big of a house, it's just a normal ranch home with a wide open attic, nothing exceptional about it at all. The technicians and everything were very professional and got it done nicely. In terms of the overall, when you take the pricing, I would probably give them a C. I would probably not use them again, based on the pricing.
