The whole experience went very well. Rob is great to work with and makes sure the work environment is up to his standards - NO SMOKING on site, daily cleanup. All the subcontractors were extremely professional and materials used were high quality. The quoted price was reasonable and accurate. Any additional charges were due to changes made during construction. There were instances where Rob was not happy with the work (drywall, porch floor finish) and he called the subs back to redo. No additional charges. I liked that he seemed to take personal pride in the job so he made sure HE was satisfied. I would absolutely use E2 again and would highly recommend to anyone.

This went great. Rob does exactly what he promises exactly when promised. He is highly accessible, very involved and hands on, knowlegable, mild mannered and easy to work with. The subcontractors used are all high quality professionals and most also work with the most expensive builders in town. Highly recommended.

E2 Homes should be advertised more like project management rather than contractor. They don't do any work without any architectural drawings which you must provide before they will proceed. That being said, I don't think E2 home does any construction but rather find the contractors for you and sub everything else out. They are not interested in small jobs. If you are looking for a contractor who will come over to your house so you can show them what you'd like to do, don't waste your time. I was hoping at the very least to meet the contractor and have him look at my house to get some consultation and an estimate. But he was not interested in doing anything until I had drawings and the budget ready to go. I was disappointed that he wasn't at least willing to meet me. He did refer me to some architects that he works with, but the way he works just left a bad feeling, and even though I am sure E2 does great work and especially does a great job advertising what they can do. I came away feeling like they only want to do high end jobs for a wealthy clients. If a contractor is not willing to at least meet with a prospective client to touch base and physically see what the house looks like and what is to be done, then how can I assume he's the person I would want to hire? I was very optimistic when I found E2 homes but was less impressed after contacting them. Note to E2 homes, at the very least make an attempt to meet the people your going to potentially work with before you assume they can't afford your services. *In response to the provider: I have no doubt that you are licensed and have management skills, my point is that I just wanted to meet and talk with you before moving forward. In my naive frame of mind, I thought perhaps meeting any contractor was the first order of business. If having architectural blueprints is a requirement of your business model then I would probably state that clearly in your and quot;aboutand quot; page on your website. I look forward to seeing the work you do on my neighbors house. Maybe I can even stop by one day and meet you in person.

Response from e2 Homes
I'm sorry that's how you feel about our brief experience over the phone. I am a fully licensed and insured residential contractor and I do subcontract out the majority of the work. This is pretty typical unless you have a contractor that self-performs the work. These types of contractors are generally less expensive, but I believe that subcontracting to specialists in each field helps ensure a better quality product. It also may be surprising, but over half of my work load is on projects that are under $100K - including the job that I am working on near your home. Based on our brief discussion, I felt that you should first meet with an independent architect/designer to develop your ideas and project scope for the home prior to meeting with me or any other contractor. This helps ensure that you are able to receive fair and competitive bids once the plans are developed - and I believe in your best interest. I am usually not the least expensive contractor, but am often selected anyway because of recommendations from existing and past clients. I wish you luck with your renovation project.

I found e2 Homes via Angie's List and am very pleased that I did! I contacted Rob of e2 Homes on a Monday to get a bid on repair work and he came out same day and provided a reasonable quote for the job. That same week the job was complete! I had worked with another GC which turned into a nightmare of delays and misinformation (and outright lies), working with Rob and Bill of e2 Homes was the exact opposite. I am very, VERY pleased with every aspect of working with e2 Homes! The courtesy, communication, timelines and affordability not only met my expectations but exceeded, a very welcome change from what I had dealt with the previous contractor. I have every confidence recommending E2Homes and hope to work with them again soon on a much larger project.

Rob is an incredibly professional builder with a ton of experience. His knowledge of green building is plus. He simply does not put up with sub-par performances from his sub-contractors. We felt comfortable with him managing our project from start to finish. Rob and his team are extremely trustworthy and I highly recommend them.

We tired of our 20 year old dated tile floors and kitchen so decided to upgrade and repaint the whole house. Once design criteria were established, Rob Smith directed the entire project from start to finish. He arranged for help moving furniture and setting up a and quot;cleanand quot; living area in the master BR away from the inevitable dust (note to self - move out next time!). He hired day labor for demolition and sub-contracted the plumbing, electrical, flooring, cabinetry, countertops, finish carpentry, and paint. At first we weren't sure he could deliver on his promise to complete the entire project in 2 weeks, but were amazed at his ability to coordinate and problem solve. He was there every single day in one capacity or another - whether supervising a sub-contractor, or helping and supervising demolition work. Nothing escaped his attention to detail. The first 2-3 days were interior demolition - removing old tile flooring (kitchen, LR, Den, Hallways, laundry room and guest bath), removing all countertops, appliances and old light fixtures. After debris was cleared and the area was cleaned (we filled a full sized dumpster), things really got intense as he choreographed subs working on countertops, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and flooring in sequence. Frankly, I don't know how Rob kept everyone's schedules straight, but he did, and most importantly kept them ON schedule, to boot. While the interior work was going on he arranged for painters to clean and prime the exterior of the house. They discovered unexpected wood rot and, without skipping a beat, Rob arranged for a carpenter to repair it all within 2 days so the painters could stay on schedule. Most of the work was finished within 10 days. This included installing the new wood flooring everywhere there had been tile, new light fixtures in several areas, new kitchen and laundry countertops (with new sinks), covering and repairing old light fixture drywall locations, rewiring for new appliances, etc. Leaving the final few days to the finish carpenters, appliance installers, drywall repair and painters. Everything was done to our satisfaction (if fact, better than we expected) on schedule and on budget. Most impressive job supervision...
