BEWARE of the man wearing his religion on his wrist! This was a true horror story....Bill Christie came into my home referred by an architect to remodel a guest bedroom and Project Manage for a Kitchen Remodel. The Contract stated that it would take 6 to 8 weeks to complete. He started in May of this year and did not finish this job. While he racked up project management hours on the kitchen he left the contracted guest room to the way side. He never intended to finish the project. He created problems that never existed and poisoned the work environment with the subcontractors pitting them up against each other and me the owner. Magically when I terminated the contract the work environment improved dramatically and the work finally started to be move along to completion. I am almost to the end of my project and now I have to begin the extensive damage repair. A marble stairway was demolished repeatedly bashed by contractors after a complete failure to protect the surface and supervise properly. On numerous occasions, I requested work to be done a certain way and he ignored my wishes and changed the design only to have to be redone at extra expense to me, of course. One other example, I asked him to find another electrician as I did not feel the one he selected (from his church) was of the caliber to work on a high end home. After a 20 minute conversation the evening before where I explicitly told him no-he brought the guy and his crew into the home the next day. Magically, the electrician ran into a front entry gate causing over $10K in damages. The subcontractor's insurance paid for an estimate but unfortunately I signed off before we found out that the arms had to be replaced because they would not realign with the new gate. I was out another $3K. There is a long list of damages on the house. I will say it has cost me 50% to double the contracted price to redo defective workmanship and repair the damage to my home. The last straw was when Bill went on unannounced vacation for two weeks while I sat cleaning up drywall mess on the job site so it would not be tracked through my home. (This was his job spelled out in his project management contract) After returning from his vacation-he then had the unmitigated gall to present me a bill for $4500. for a draw for future project management services while I sat with an unfinished bedroom and defective workmanship. This was the last straw and he was escorted out of my home and asked not to return. He will deny all of this but we had it all on a camera system of which everyone knew was there. Do not hire this person...he is not who he pretends to be!

Response from NEW LIFE BUILDING GROUP INC
I will not go into details about this client, but I will say that her review is not true. Mrs. [Member Name Removed] is a very aggressive woman who refused to accept responsibility for her constant changes to the work. It was only after repeated refusals on her part to pay bills which were submitted according to the terms of our agreement that I resigned from the project with an unpaid balance in excess of 20k.

Wonderful! Bill came to assess the project, and was back the same day with his finish carpenter. They cut away all damaged drywall that connected 2 bedrooms through a closet. They instructed us how we could help save money by doing cleanup work that night. Returning the next morning, they worked on drywall, texturing, and stayed on the project so we had an office and bedroom back in operation within one week. Additionally, we choose to update the interior doors in our home, They expanded a 5 foot closet to 9 feet, and advised us on what to purchase for doors at the local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. I have recommended them to friends and business acquaintances - and know the high level of satisfaction others have experienced as well.
Description of Work: I was planning on converting my son's room into an office, and approached it as a do-it-yourself project. When I moved the existing desk away from a wall, I discovered water damage in the wall, the back of the desk and mold in the carpet. What started out as a simple update, turned into a total transformation of two rooms.Bill and his team came out within an hour of my discovery, and assessed the situation. they had to cut away drywall, and instructed my husband and I what to do to mitigate the mold. They returned the following day with drywall in hand. It became necessary to replace flooring, baseboard, and re-texture all the walls. While they worked fast, they slowed the process down enough to discuss several basic improvements to that area of the house. Not a day goes by, while working in my office, that I don't stop to appreciate my expanded closet for office storage, the new (used!) doors that we purchased from Habitat for Humanity that Bill installed for us AND while we believe we are DIYer's he calmly corrected the way we installed our laminate floors, so we could enjoy them for years to come!
