I called for an estimate on June 16 and a visit was scheduled for the following day. The representative was prompt, courteous and knowledgable and provided a written quote before leaving. On June 17, I called to schedule the service which was set for June 29. The workers were prompt, courteous, clean and knowledgable. They also worked very efficiently and left the work spaces cleaner than when they arrived! Although I thought the price seemed a little high, I did not obtain a second quote, so I cannot say with certainty that it was.

I would not hire them again. As far as I can tell, they did a good job, pertaining to running the electric wire. They ran the line under the house and put in an outlet, and it all works. The first thing that makes me not want to use them is, they have a 25 dollar coupon and I was wondering if they had any other discount, and he seemed reluctant to take the coupon. He then said that he could not run the line under the house with the dishwasher still in its place, I had to call someone to come and take the dishwasher out put and put it back in. The dishwasher installer told me that it was not necessary to have him come and take it out. When the job was all done, Jaz (the employee from small job electric) went to the backyard and turned on the hose and left it on all day and night until I found it the next day. He moved some bookshelves out to work, but he did not put everything back. What he did put back, were not put back in any order, they were just shoved back onto the shelf.

They came out and gave me an estimate, very professional, documented my job and it was well done. I had them come back and do the job. Their electrician showed up when scheduled as expected, Jaz, he was excellent we talked about the job, he went to and had some ideas to get me more functionality than I originally expected. He showed me the work at the end, cleaned everything up, I am very happy.

One of the fluorescent lights in our kitchen had gone out and we were in need of a replacement. We were unable to find a replacement so we called Small Jobs and talked to Nathaniel. He gave us several companies to try and we soon realized that 6 feet ballast's are no longer made. We did have some luck at one of the companies Nathaniel recommended so we called Small Jobs to have then installed. Nathaniel arrived promptly (with a young man he was training). They were extremely clean in the installation and gave us tips of what type of fluorescent bulbs to use and where we could find them. With our Angie's list discount the price was very reasonable and worth every cent.

For years we have had numerous outlets that were not securely attached. We knew it was only a matter of time before one of the receptical boxes came out of the wall. Well that day happened and we called Small Jobs one morning really not expecting a repair person the same day. Luckily we were scheduled for that afternoon. When the repair person was on his way we were given a call to let us know. Not only did he fixed the outlet that was about ready to fall out of the wall, but he checked about six others and tightened them down. Unfortunately we had totally forgotten to print out our Angies List coupon and he was kind enough to give us a few minutes to turn our computer back on and print the coupon. This is not out first time using Small Jobs Electric, and will not be out last. We highly recommend them.

We are really pleased with the service provided by Small Jobs Electric. Great service on the phone, and pleased to have had a call telling us he was on his way. Nathaniel was prompt, very professional, and careful to make sure our toddler did not wander into any open outlets! He was clean and swept up after the work was done. Felt we got his best work, even though it was a Friday afternoon! Best of all, everything was fixed to our satisfaction, and service was beyond our expectations. The price was a little higher than we expected, but we did not get other quotes so we can't make a true comparison- but it was well worth the work.

Orlando was a highly competent professional who did a precise and completely effective installation of the under-cabinet lights. The chandelier repair was mostly successful, but two sockets were irreparable & the recommendation was to replace the chandelier - not their fault or responsibility. In terms of "Do's and Don't's", DON'T buy Home Depot "Made in China" knock-off products that look pretty, but disguise extremely shoddy hardware. When I buy the replacements, I won't buy at Home Depot and I will avoid Made in China hardware. I WILL have the replacements installed by Small Jobs Electric.

The real fun begin as they charged my credit card 2 times for 2 different amounts and overdrew my checking account so needless to say I was pretty up-set. They did refund one charge but said they were "doing me a favor" (Office Manager) because they had not received my money by transfer yet. I thought that was very odd to say when my bank and there bank advised them of the over billing. For a home owner who has to budget repairs and upgrades do not be surprised when some one goes on the deep end when you hit there account on the last day of the month with two charges. And the fan still makes noise because I asked them to cut the chain so it did not look tacky and he forgot to zip tie it off like the second one so it makes a neat noise and I do not have a 20 ft latter so I guess It stays that way. I liked the service people and even the office people just made me very made in the entire outcome.
Description of Work: Had some confusion on the price right off the bat and then found out it was 179 bucks per installation. And they cut me a break of 25 bucks. So I was kind of taken back on the price I guess I should have just used a handy man. They did a great job I just wished the chain and the over charge would have not made this such a disaster for me or them.

I am sorry to see that this homeowner gave our professionalism a "B" grade. When we finished the work at his home, he gave us his credit card to run. After entering the numbers the first time, the machine said" Error, please try again." So I entered the numbers a second time and this time it went through successfully. When he called and informed us that two charges from our company were pending on his account, we contacted his bank and were informed that the bank saw the merchant error and that the charges were only pending and the extra charge would be refunded to him as well as any bank fees he might have incurred. They assured us that his account would not be overdrawn. We emailed him a copy of our credit card batch report to show him that the card was really only run successfully once, and tried to explain to him that the extra charge was pending and would be removed by the bank, however he was not willing to listen to reason and hung up on us several times. He demanded that we refund him the extra pending charge. At this time we tried to once again explain to him that the amount of $337 had not been deposited into our account twice, but only once. We wanted to resolve the situation peacefully however, so we refunded the $337. Because the pending extra charge was refunded to him by the bank and we refunded the other $337 this means he got the work done for free!!! So I am disappointed that he gave us a "C" for price as he didn't end up paying anything to have his fans installed. We understand that he was upset, however being upset shouldn't give anyone license to speak to others like he did to us. Furthermore, we spoke with both Kim Downing as well as Ken Guttierez at Suntrust Bank: 1-800-786-8787 (his bank) and they both assured us that merchant errors are quite common and that the charge was only pending and would be taken off his account. We also contacted our bank to see if the amount of $337 had been deposited twice into our account and they said no, it had been deposited only once This homeowner threatened to give us bad reports on both Angie's List and the BBB and we felt bullied by him. Angie's List and the BBB are there to protect consumers and we are consumers too who want good, responsive service. But what agency is out there to protect good service companies like us from people like this? In fact, we felt quite terrorized by this homeowner and had to contact an Angie's List representative and after explaining the situation, he felt that we went far above and beyond what could be done for this homeowner. Even though the technician was at his home for over 4 hours (it was a difficult install) we felt like we did the right thing by giving this homeowner his money back and hope that he will be more reasonable with others in the future.

Searched Angie's List for electrician; found company called Small Jobs Electric which is family owned and operated and has an excellent rating; Carla was very polite and easy to work with; scheduling was not a problem. Technician arrived on time and completed all work professionally. Would highly recommend this company to anyone and will certainly be using them again in the future. Very professional. I liked getting a 30 min. call in advance, so I could be home, instead of having those dreadful 2 - 4 hr. window waits. The company answers the phone, instead of getting a machine.
Description of Work: I needed a light fixture hung from the ceiling in my hall bathroom. The previous fixture had been on the wall over the sink, so it had to be researched in the attic, and redirected. Tom also found a loose connection on a hall fixture and fixed it. It was very nice to get it all done in one afternoon. He wore booties to protect my carpet. He gave me an estimate on each job, up front.

The electrician was punctual. He arrived ready to do work and was very careful about putting on booties to protect our floors. Unfortunately, such fastidiousness did not extend to post-work clean-up--he left some debris on the floor after finishing the job. The basic electrical work seems OK. He installed the junction box and wired it. That was a little tricky given that some of the wood behind the wall was decayed. The real problem was with the fixture installation. He screwed it on so tight that the bolt cracked part of the white porcelain face. I noticed the crack after I had signed the work receipt and handed over the check. I caught the electrician to show him the crack, and he apologized, but that was it. He left. I was annoyed, but not enough to call and complain. I managed to take off the fixture myself, exchange it for a new one, and re-install it. I don't know if the electrician represents all the workers at the company, but my experience was mixed--good basic electrical work, but careless with the fixture installation and cleanup. I am unlikely to use them again (unless future electricians are worse!).
Description of Work: Electrician opened bathroom wall to install a junction box as first step to installing a light fixture. The previous owners had simply dropped the wire in the wall and cut a hole. After the junction box, the electrician installed the light fixture.

I was surprised that it cost that much to install an electrical socket, but the price seemed alright after the explanation that was given to me. The price seemed pretty reasonable when they fixed the lighting fixtures, outlets and socket. I was pretty pleased with their work. I would use their services in the future too.
Description of Work: We used the services of Small Jobs Electric at least twice in this year and once in the last year for some electrical work. Their last visit to our house was in June of 2009. The electrician replaced a broken electrical wall socket and before that he installed 3 lighting fixtures to the ceiling, added some plugs in a wall that didn't have one and did some electrical projects for us. They also installed an outside light for us in October of 2008.

Our A/C wasn't working late Saturday night so we called the A/C people who wouldn't come out until sometime Sunday. We then noticed in the morning that our pool pump wasn't working either so we called Small Jobs Electric. Actually, we called several electricans, but Small Jobs was the first to get back to us. They were there within an hour of our call and determined that the problem was one of TECO's lines into the house was down. They then called TECO emergency service and waited until they got there and explained the problem to them. This was fixed later that day (Sunday). Great service especially on a weekend. They went above and beyond on this. Thanks!

We are finishing a bathroom reno and have been soliciting estimates for this last job from several contractors on the list - two of which were able to provide an estimate via email or fax based on description of the job and type / age of the house. Small Jobs insisted on coming out to look at the job before they would give an estimate - no problem. Once the service technician came to the house he just looked at the old fan in the bathroom and the replacement. He made an assumption about the existing duct size without even going into the easily accessible attic to verify (Note - I later went up myself and found his assumption was wrong). Based on this faulty guess, he consulted his job price list and quoted a figure $100 above the competition's highest estimate. He was miffed that we did not want the work done since he had gone to the trouble to show up at the house. I wonder how many unsuspecting people would simply be pressured to let him get to work since he was already there...
Description of Work: Needed an estimate on removal of an old bathroom exhaust fan and installation of a new replacement which we were providing.

AFTER READING THE REPORT THAT THIS MEMBER SUBMITTED ABOUT OUR COMPANY, FRANKLY, I AM 100% SHOCKED. IT'S TRUE THAT OUR COMPANY WILL NOT GIVE A PRICE OVER THE PHONE TO PERFORM ELECTRICAL WORK IN SOMEONE'S HOME. THERE ARE MORE INTRICATE COMPONENTS IN A HOME'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THAN IN ANY OTHER PART OF A HOUSE. JUST LIKE VEHICLES ON THE ROAD, EVERY MAKE AND MODEL OF A HOME IS DIFFERENT. WHAT MAY BE A VERY SIMPLE INSTALLATION IN ONE HOME, CAN BE A VERY COMPLICATED PROJECT IN ANOTHER. THAT IS WHY WE PREFER TO EVALUATE EXACTLY WHAT OUR CUSTOMER'S NEEDS ARE FIRST, AND THEN PROVIDE A PRICE IN WRITING AS TO WHAT WE WILL CHARGE. WHEN A PRICE IS QUOTED OVER THE PHONE, OFTEN THAT COMPANY WILL GIVE YOU A LOW PRICE TO GET THEIR FOOT IN THE DOOR OF YOUR HOME, ONLY TO CHANGE THE PRICE WHEN THE TECHNICIAN WHO IS PERFORMING THE WORK COMES ACROSS A "COMPLICATION," OR WHEN THEY ARE ABLE TO REALLY EVALUATE WHAT'S NEEDED. OUR COMPANY WILL NOT DO THAT. VISUALLY EVALUATING WHAT IS NEEDED FIRST PUTS THE TECHNICIAN AND THE HOMEOWNER ON THE SAME PAGE. THIS HOMEOWNER WAS TOLD THAT THE TECHNICIAN WOULD BE OUT TO THEIR HOME BETWEEN 10AM-12PM. WE CONTACTED THEM WITH 30 MINUTES NOTICE PRIOR TO OUR TECHNICIANS ARRIVAL AND SHOWED UP ON TIME AND WHEN WE SAID WE WOULD. WHEN THE TECHNICIAN ENTERED THEIR HOME HE WORE HIS PROTECTIVE SHOE COVERS. BASED UPON HIS EVALUATION OF WHAT WAS NEEDED, HE PROVIDED A WRITTEN ESTIMATE. FROM THE REVIEW, WE UNDERSTAND THAT THEY OBJECTED TO THE PRICE. THAT'S FINE. WE UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARE NOT THE CHEAPEST COMPANY IN TOWN, NOR ARE WE THE MOST EXPENSIVE. IF YOU DON'T LIKE OUR PRICE, YOU ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO USE OUR COMPANY. WE DON'T OVERCHARGE OR INFLATE OUR PRICES. THE PRICE GIVEN DID NOT INCLUDE THE SIZE AND/OR REPLACEMENT OF THE HOMEOWNER'S DUCT WORK. THEY WERE GIVEN A PRICE TO REMOVE AND REPLACE AN EXHAUST FAN. THE TECHNICIAN MENTIONED TO THE HOMEOWNER THAT WHILE YOU CAN UTILIZE THE EXISTING DUCT WORK FOR THE OLD EXHAUST FAN, IN ORDER TO MAKE THE NEW FAN RUN AS QUIETLY AS STATED BY THE MANUFACTURER, YOU MIGHT HAVE TO REPLACE IT. OUR COMPANY IS ROUTINELY CALLED BACK TO A CUSTOMER'S HOME TO REPLACE THE DUCT WORK FOR AN EXHAUST FAN AS THEIR NEW ONE IS RUNNING TO LOUD. OUR TECHNICIAN WAS JUST OFFERING A HELPFUL TIP. I WOULD LIKE TO MENTION THAT THE HOMEOWNER IS COMPARING THE PRICE THAT OUR LICENSED, BONDED AND INSURED TECHNICIAN PROVIDED AFTER VISUALLY EVALUATING WHAT WAS NEEDED - TO A PRICE THAT WAS GIVEN OVER THE PHONE. OBVIOUSLY, THIS IS NOT A COMPARISON OF APPLES TO APPLES. LET'S SAY THAT YOU WALK INTO A RESTAURANT AND LOOK AT THE MENU. YOU DETERMINE THAT IT IS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR YOU AND YOU DECIDE TO LEAVE. WOULD IT BE FAIR FOR YOU TO THEN WRITE A TERRIBLE REVIEW ABOUT THE FOOD IN THE RESTAURANT? MAYBE THE FOOD THERE IS OUTSTANDING AND THE SERVICE IS IMPECCABLE - IN ESSENCE YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. SIMILARLY, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR WITH OUR COMPANY. HAVING NOT SAMPLED OUR SERVICES, CAN THE HOMEOWNER ACCURATELY REVIEW OUR COMPANY? I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS HOMEOWNER CAN COMMENT THAT WE WERE SNEAKY WITH OUR PRICE. THE PRICE IS WHAT IT IS. WE PROVIDED A WRITTEN ESTIMATE FROM OUR GUIDE UPFRONT TO REPLACE AN EXISTING EXHAUST FAN. HOW IS THAT SNEAKY??? FURTHERMORE WE BELIEVE THAT IT IS THE OUTSTANDING SERVICE THAT A CUSTOMER RECEIVES THAT WILL MOTIVATE THEM TO UTILIZE OUR SERVICES - NOT HIGH PRESSURE TACTICS. THE TECHNICIAN WHO ARRIVED AT THE HOME DID SO KNOWING THAT THIS WAS STRICTLY AN ESTIMATE. HE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PERFORM THE WORK AT THAT TIME AS HE HAD ANOTHER APPOINTMENT TO MAKE BEFORE 12. SO WE ARE A LITTLE CONFUSED WHEN THE HOMEOWNER STATES THAT THE "TECHNICIAN WAS MIFFED THAT THEY DIDN'T WANT THE WORK DONE." WE FEEL LIKE A PRIVILEGE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO US WHENEVER SOMEONE INVITES US INTO THEIR HOME, THEREFORE, WE ARE NOT LIKE YOUR AVERAGE CONTRACTOR. WE PROVIDE SUPERIOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. WE WEAR SHOE COVERS AND CLEAN UP AFTER WE FINISH OUR WORK. YOU'RE CONTACTED BEFORE THE TECHNICIAN ARRIVES AT YOUR DOOR. OUR TECHNICIANS ARE CLEAN SHAVEN, UNIFORMED, BACKGROUND CHECKED, DRUG TESTED AND ARE ALL CERTIFIED. WE WARRANTY ALL OF OUR WORK. WE KEEP OUR SERVICE VEHICLE STOCKED SO THAT WE DON'T HAVE TO RUN OUT TO THE HARDWARE STORE COSTING THE HOMEOWNER MORE MONEY. WE UNDERSTAND THAT WE WON'T BE ABLE TO 100% FULLY SATISFY EVERY CUSTOMER THAT WE DO WORK OR ESTIMATE FOR, BUT WE SURE DO TRY OUR BEST!

Small Jobs Electric called ahead of time and came as they said, on time. We had an outlet put in that my husband really didn't think could be done because it was in a difficult location. But they did it and did a great job. Which was great because I really didn't like the power cord across my wall. The electrician also recommended for smoke detectors in the garage and attic which gives us more peace of mind especially since we have children and a friends house had recently caught on fire. I didn't have to worry about cleaning up after them, since they took care of everything. They had what they needed, and were prepared for the job. We have used this company before and they have always been very knowledgeable, creative, efficient, friendly, trustworthy and with reasonable pricing. They did not make me uncomfortable at all. They were clean cut and polite. I understand they are a family owned and operated company, which to me is a good thing. We have referred them to our friends and family and they have all been happy with there services as well! We would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND SMALL JOBS ELECTRIC for any electrical work that you may need done really big or small!!!!
Description of Work: Small Jobs Electric added an outlet that my husband didn't think could be done, because it was in a difficult location. Also they installed and wired 2 smoke detectors to the existing smoke alarm system.
