They had to get a permit from the county before starting the job. Permit cost $279.00. Two men arrived the following day to remove the old box. They had to wait for the elect. co. to arrive to shut off the elect. When it was removed, one man left. When the new panel box was installed we had to wait for the elect. co. to restore power to the new panel box. (approx. 30 min.) All connections were checked and found to be O.K.

I called them about hanging chandelier, and to fix some wires hanging by the control box for the sprinkler. They were very nice and professional. But told me that they weren’t able to do the job. I will be getting a refund for the Big Deal. It just didn’t work out this time, but I problably would call them again.

We'd like to thank Member for purchasing the Big Deal promotion we ran with Angie's List! She wanted to have the chandelier she currently has swagged moved. She thought that we would be able to splice into the chandelier wire to do so, but that is actually a code violation so we provided her with a price to complete the job correctly and according to code. At that time she decided not to have the work done since it was going to involve more than she had bargained and budgeted for.

Overall, it went great. They arrived on time and ready to work. Spent the first 20 minutes going over the bathroom plans for installation/wiring purposes. All the wiring looked clean and professional when completed. They cleaned up all the fallen installation before leaving. Estimate also included returning for the finishes (installing the lights, fan, switches and outlets). We had 2 electricians give estimates, Small Jobs Electric was obviously the better deal.
Description of Work: -Wire for closet light -Wire for shower can light (provided) -Wire for 2 vanity lights -Fixed wiring in master bath. Put it onto one circuit instead of 4. -Wire for exhaust fan. They can provide the fan, but we purchased one ourselves. -Wire for 2 GFI outlets This is all rough in for re-model.

Called on Thursday morning and they said they would be there by 9:00 on Friday morning - called at 8:45 and said they were on the road and would be arriving at 9:15. Appreciated the call - so few vendors keep you informed. Scoped out the job and had a book that listed services and what the charges would be - no surprises. Job took a little over 4 hours. Couldn't be more pleased.
Description of Work: Had 2 GFI outlets in the bathroom rerouted - involved going up in attic and bringing the cables down in a different area. Also had an outlet installed on an outside wall - tied in thru an outlet on the reverse side of the wall. Cleaned up everything.

I don't remeber his name; but he's an older gentalman. He arrived on time, and gave me the price for the very small job. I had 3 kids running around while he was doing his job - I kept them out the way; but, they were still loud. I explained everything to him that I wanted done, and he got them done by asking only neccessary questions. The job was very clean, no dusts everywhere. He used his drop cloth to cover things that were hard to move. Overall a very good experience.

Specified everything in the above paragraph. NO WORK WAS DONE.
Description of Work: We called Small Jobs late on 8/31 (around 9:30 PM) and spoke to Cheryl, who said that someone would be calling us back today (Sat). Since no one called, I called again and this time spoke to Amanda. I explained that I called late yesterday, and no one called me back this morning, as promised. She said that the earliest appt she could give me was next Wednesday! I don't believe that this problem is very serious, but I'm not an electrician. She apologized for not calling be back this morning. So NO services were performed, and NO call-back was initiated. I'm going back to Angie's List to see if I can find someone to help me TODAY!

I have been through several electricians before I found Small Jobs. They are honest and dedicated to their work.
Description of Work: I own several rental houses. One is over 50 years old. I had Small Jobs Electric repair, replace or install many elements of this house's electrical system. They are fair, competent, honest and punctual. I have worked extensively with one of their electricians, Ron. He does excellent work. We had to re-wire significant portions of this house as many plugs were not working. We also had to add wiring to allow for a new ac to be installed. Ron spent several hours in the attic in brutal heat and fixed everything. I had an issue with one of their helpers. I explained my concerns to Ron. That night, the owner tried to call me but I missed the call. The next morning, the owner called again. We had a good conversation and the issue was settled immediately. They obviously care about the relationship they have with their customers and want to make everything right. Everyone makes mistakes. What matters is what happens after a mistake has been made. Theses folks get it. I have used them several times since then and will continue to use them. No drama. No surprises.

Nathaniel was very efficient and professional. In no time at all he determined what my problem was - I needed a new main breaker. I like that they warranty their work and that he had what I needed with him, because I imagine that most places to get those were closed at that time of night. Within just a few hours I was back in business! I also has a question for him on Saturday and he was very responsive and called me right back on his weeked. Very pleased with this company and will use again. I had been a little nervous to use them because of some reviews I had seen on Angies List about their pricing, but to be honest those people must not have been listening very well - they were very upfront about the way they charge and what I could expect when the electrician arrived. Superior Company!!!
Description of Work: On Friday night all of the power went out at my condo. I called Progress Energy and they came out and told me the problem was on my end and I was responsible for it. I went through the phone book and Angie's List and no one answered the phone except for Small Jobs Electric. They told me they'd have someone out within 45 minutes and sure enough, Nathaniel was at my door 45 mins later. I was really impressed because it was a Friday night at 10 pm!

I had an issue at my house, so I looked up on Angies List for an electrical contractor. I called Small Jobs after all the great reviews and talked to the scheduling team. I explained the issue, and they promptly scheduled the service for the same day. I was told there would be a $49 fee to have them come out and do the troubleshooting, but would not do any work until they provided me a complete quote for service and I agreed. I received the call-ahead that they would be at the property at 11a and sure enough, Tom arrived precisely on time. Communication and punctuality were great. However, when I met Tom outside the house when he arrived, I explained again to him the issue, and before he even left the side of his truck he said it would cost $197 to troubleshoot the problem...that's $246 for him to show up and come inside when I was quoted $49. I explained what I was told on the phone and his response was simply "I can't make enough money charging only $49 to cover all my costs...insurance, etc."...and again told me it was $197 to even take a look. I challenged it again, and his comment was "90% of the time I usually fix the issue during the troubleshooting process", so that's why we charge the fee. I tried to negotiate with him in good faith, respecting that he needs to make money, but that I was clearly told something different on the phone, and he would not even engage in the dialogue. I promptly told him to leave and I would find someone else to do the work.
Description of Work: I had a circuit that tripped and would not reset and needed someone to come out and help troubleshoot/fix it.

I am sorry that there was some confusion with this customer about what he was told on the phone. All of our phone calls are recorded however, and I have the transcript of his call. This customer was clearly told that the fee of $49 is a dispatch fee and only gets the electrician to the door. Once he's out he would be provided with an estimate to both evaulate and then to repair the problem. What kind of problem are you having? Our price system is called Straight Forward Pricing which means you will know to the exact penny what the investment is before any work has begun. This saves you a lot of time, frustration, and money. Working by the job rather than by the hour is the no surprises way of servicing your electrical needs. (After hours: 5p-7p Mon-Sat: $49 | 7p-9a Mon-Sat & all day Sun: $149) When they arrive, they will provide you with an estimate to both evaluate and then repair your problem plus our unmatched guarantees in writing. They will also complete a FREE home electrical safety inspection. After you accept the proposal, they are prepared to do the work right then. What day would be best for you? While we are not a perfect service company and we don't always do/say things perfectly, this caller was clearly told about the fee and that it didn't include any troubleshooting. We truly would not be able to stay in business that way. When the customer told our electrician to leave, he did so and did not collect anything. I think his F is a little unreasonable and we'd be happy to play his call back to him to confirm what he was told on the phone.

When I called the company, which was on a Monday, they told me that they could not have anyone there until Wednesday. I asked that if possible, to make it Tuesday. Then on Tuesday they called and said that they could come and if it was okay, and gave a time. They actually called back later and said that the technicians were ahead of schedule and if they could come now. The courtesy on the phone was exceptional and a wonderful point. When the technicians arrived, they went right to the problem, gave me an estimate, and I told them to go ahead. They finished the replacing the old box and circuit breakers and showed me the old parts. They also cleaned up very well after the job. Upon doing a safety inspection, they discovered that a circuit breaker had two wires placed into it on the main panel and that the wiring did not allow for this particular breaker to be in use. They gave me an additional price to fix that (which was in my opinion very reasonable), and completed that job quickly and efficiently. Overall, this was indeed a pleasant experience and very thorough on their part.
Description of Work: I needed a new circuit breaker box for our swimming pool pump that sits outside of the house. The young men who came Nathaniel and Chris (If I remember correctly), showed me how the system needed to be replaced and that they could take care of it immediately. They gave me a price and finished the job in about an hour. Apparently there is a company policy (My words) that while at the customers, do a safety check as a courtesy. That makes good business sense. Anyway, they showed me some problems with a circuit breaker for the house itself and corrected the problem. That brought the total up but I was very pleased with their work and courtesy. I also needed to point out that I was contacted by the company two times from their offices. The ladies on the phone were extremely courteous and seemed to have a lot of cheer and joy. That was truly refreshing. While I don't like paying a lot for repairs, this time it was all worth it. I would use this company again if every experience is a good as this introduction.

They went above and beyond and Small Jobs will be my electrician for life! I am a new mom and they were so flexible in working with my schedule. They were very professional and I felt so comfortable having them in my home, they were like old friends! They checked to make sure that my smoke alarms were working since we have a baby in the house now and replaced some batteries in them for free. As a bonus they also left me with some outlet covers for when Casey gets older and we need to babyproof. I was really impressed with them because they were the ones who mentioned the smoke alarms, I had not even thought about that with so much on my mind. The service felt so personal and I will be using them again.

I turned off the kitchen light and when I tried to turn it back on, it did not work! Immediately, I called the office to inform them of this. Since Ron came on a Friday, I was told that no one could return to fix the light until Monday morning. I did verify that we would not be charged an additional fee for his return. When he returned on Monday, he brought an assistant. I provided them with a new fixture, as I was told that the one Ron had "fixed" on Friday was in fact broken. As they were installing the new fixture, Ron stopped to ask where we purchased it, as they accidentally did something to it. I was told they were going to purchase a new one. Within a minute, Ron came back intot he house to say that he had an idea to "try to make it work." Ultimately, the fixture was installed and does work. However, we were appalled that: 1) he didn't get it right the first time; 2) they accidentally did something to the new fixture to make them think they needed to replace it; 3) didn't replace it; and 4) no one would immediately return, or make time on Saturday, to correct the initial shoddy work..As far as pricing, we can not understand why installing a pendant light (all wiring already there) cost more than to install a ceiling fan with a light. The pricing seems odd.We definitely will NOT recommend Small Jobs Electric. We are still hunting for a decent electrician, as this was our second attempt with an A-rated Angie's List company.
Description of Work: Originally called to obtain a free estimate for some electrical work that we needed done (install ceiling fan, pendant light, other light fixtures, and fix light in kitchen). When Ron arrived, he was pleasant and did give detailed pricing for the work we needed done. We agreed to do a few of the items, as the overall cost was too much. Ron installed a ceiling fan w/light, a pendant light, and was supposed to fix the kitchen light. Everything appeared to be in working order when he left (all of the lights were on).

This customers last statement says it all! Her partner told us how pleased she was with our services, but nothing we did pleased Member. Her fixture was not working because her ballast was bad, so our technician replaced it. Unfortunately the ballast was defective from the manufacturer so it stopped working after our tech left. We had a code change class scheduled in Orlando for all of our technicians both Saturday and Sunday so we were not able to make arrangements to return on the weekend. We did however make an appointment for 8 am on Monday morning. When Ron arrived the ladies decided that rather than have Ron replace the ballast, they wanted him to replace it with a fixture they had bought. Ron gladly switched out the fixtures. At first he thought that new fixture may not work where the old fixture had been installed because of where the screw holes were located, but he was able to make it work. We are sorry that she feels like that is shoddy work. Her partner repeatedly told Ron how happy she was with our work , and how nice everything looked. Every time Member came down the stairs though, she was upset. I do not know if we caught her on a bad day, or if she is always like that. We work very hard to please our customers and to maintain an A rating on Angie's List. They had a licensed, uniformed and experienced techinican sent out to their home in a company vehicle. When they scheduled their appointment, they spoke with a live person. When they had a problem they contacted our company and they spoke with a live person and arrangements were made to return as soon as we were able. The tech came out and apologized that the ballast was defective from the box and gladly installed their new fixture. He wore shoe covers in their home to protect it. These are the marks of a good service company. As for our pricing, ceiling fans cost less to install than fluorescent lights because it actually takes less time to install them. There are more compenants in a flourescent light and that is why it costs more than a fan for installation.

Wonderful! They were so prompt and professional - I thought companies like this didn't exist anymore! I would recommend them to anyone looking for a true professional. Will use them again!
Description of Work: I was having a party at my house and had stocked my fridge in the garage full of food. When the outlet for the fridge stopped working suddenly, I didn't know what to do, I'd spent so much money on the food and couldn't afford to rebuy everything. I found Small Jobs on AL and called them and they had someone out to my house within 30 minutes! I was so impressed that they were able to do that, and they saved all of my food! My GLI outlet went bad in the garage and in no time they had it replaced and I was back in business for my party. I can't thank them enough for sending someone out so soon. Plus they were very professional. They called before they came, they explained the price up front to fix it and Nathaniel cleaned up after himself - you'd never know he was there. I will definitly be using them again and agina for all my electrical needs!

My husband and I just moved into a new home and we had purchased a crystal chandelier from Europe. The wiring didn't match what we use here in the US so when Small Jobs Electric came out they had to rewire the fixture and then install it on my ceiling of 25 feet. I really like how flexible they were when we discovered that they wiring was no good, and they immediately got to work on rewiring it and then doing the installation. The fixture was quite expensive, but I felt like it was in good hands with Ron and his helper Chris. They also had a ladder tall enough with them to reach my ceiling. I like the fact that they could do the installation then and not have to make another appointment. They used gloves when putting the crystal on the chandelier and they used shoe covers when they were in the house. Best of all they were clean and soooo professional. We'll be using them again soon when the rest of our fixtures arrive.

When our technician arrived to this customer's home, it seemed that the reason her dryer outlet was not working was because it was bad. At that time he did quote her $99 to replace it. Once he went to replace the receptacle, the technician discovered that the wire that had been ran for the dryer was only number 12 and the breaker being used for the dryer was rated for only 40 amps. These wire and breaker sizes are not adequate for this load. Our technician showed this to the homeowner and explained how this is a violation of code and a fire hazard. We provided a price to rewire the circuit correctly for $488. At that time the homeowner declined. Obviously someone else replaced her outlet for $150, however her problem is coming not from the outlet, it is because of the wrong size of the wire and breaker. If the circuit isn't rewired it still remains a violation and a fire hazard and she will have the same problem in the future. We could not, in good conscience then, just have replaced this customer's outlet.

I called Small jobs electric on Monday about 10:00 am. She set an appointment for 12:00 that same day. The electrician Jaz and his helper secretary called to let me know that the electricains are on there way and arrived at about 11:30 am. Jaz was very professional and friendly he answered any of my questions and gave me a quote for each of my requests. He was ready do complete each job on my list. I really like the fact that they quote by the job not the hour. I told him I needed a microwave oven electrical receptical installed. He went to the fuse box inspected it to make sure that that it was large enought to handle the load and it was, so he ran a new line from the box throught the attic and down a wall. Inside a cabinet. Then I had him install a GFI outlet in a bathroom. I also asked him to go up and inspect the wiring to my recessed lights in the kitchen ceiling to make sure it was safe. He inspected it and found that the lights were installed with the wires outside of the cans rather then inside the junctin boxes. I asked him to make it safe and correct the problem and he did. Note this was 12:00 noon in the attic in florida and it was hot but he never complained. I was very pleased with the job they did and they cleaned up after them selves.
Description of Work: Installation of a seperate microwave receptacle.Installation of GFI in the bathroom.Rewiring of 4 recessed lighting fixtures.
