REPORT ON ULTIMATE FENCE AND DECK, Tallahassee, Florida Preliminary: Wes James, owner of Ultimate Fence and Deck (hereafter called ?Ultimate Fence?), visited our home to survey the work to be done. This was in June 2013. He talked to us at length about our wishes. Within a few days, we received their price quote by e-mail. Scope of work: The work involved both fencing and landscaping. Three fences were to be installed, as follows: 1. A long fence screening our back yard from the road. 2. A short fence along the property line with our neighbor. 3. A three-sided A/C enclosure. Included in these fences were two gates. The landscaping included: 1. Removal of existing hedges and a rotted existing A/C enclosure. 2. Grading the back lawn to drain. 3. Re-sodding both the back lawn and the area around the new back lawn fences. Also, any existing turf disturbed by their machinery was to be restored. It is noteworthy that Ultimate Fence, when necessary, works with a landscaping contractor. Between them and the landscaper, they can do any necessary work under the umbrella of Ultimate Fence. This makes for centralized accountability and expediting of the work very quickly. Even with the daily afternoon rains we experienced, they accomplished 98 percent of the work in just two days. Cost Comparisons: We obtained quotes from three fence contractors and another landscaper. But their combined cost was not even close. Ultimate Fence?s price of $2,885 was about $800 below the next competitor. So we signed the contract with Ultimate Fence. Plus, I liked the fact that the work was being done under one umbrella of accountability. And it would be done quickly, in just two days, according to Wes James. That minimized the time the back yard would be open. Also, it shortened the time we would have to walk our dog Lucy on a leash, out of the back yard. We paid them one-half down, with the rest to be paid after satisfactory completion of the work Execution of work: First day, August 20, 2013: The landscape contractor came and did his work. They used heavy machinery to tear out the hedges. They removed the existing fences and gates. They re-graded the back yard in less than one hour. In operating their scraper, they were careful to miss a large stacked woodpile we had in the backyard. They were also careful to not hit our new concrete patio with their scraper. Wes James raked the bare ground and sodded nearly the whole area that afternoon, finishing just before the rain. Second day, August 21, 2013: The fence crew moved in and built all three sections of fence. They finished everything but one gate before the daily afternoon rain. (They installed that gate early the next morning.) At a slight increase in cost, Wes James provided an underground drain and bubbler to carry the runoff from the roof downspout past the new fence and out into the grass. That solved the roof drainage problem. Aftermath: A few days later Wes James came in with some sod and covered the area that has been damaged by the landscape contractor ?s machinery. Cost: The total cost, including the under-the-fence pipe extra, was $3,050. The fence cost $2,885 and the under-the-fence pipe cost $165. Behavior and Demeanor: Wes James listened carefully and honored our wishes. He and his crew were pleasant, courteous, competent, professional, and anxious to please us. He came back pleasantly a few days later and replaced all the sod outside the fence, that the scraper had damaged. He was very anxious to completely satisfy us. Evaluation: We would heartily recommend Ultimate Fence. We are totally satisfied with their work, attitude, professionalism, and general demeanor. Evaluation of Angie?s List: Angie?s List offers a very complete review of various contractors in our area. I am happy with them, except for one thing. In recent days, Angie?s List has been persistently and chronically telephoning my home. They have repeatedly requested my wife Linda to talk to me. She told them that I was not home, that I was working at that time. They would have to contact me at work. And they did, through e-mails. However, they did not honor my wife?s repeated statements not to call because I was not at home. I would suggest that for follow-ups, Angie?s List be more sensitive to the spoken wish of the client. The job was finished and done in the time agreed to. The quality of the work was good. My only minor issues would be with communication and helping educate me on options. Wes, the owner visited my house and looked at the job. Our level of discussion about options and how they would approach the job was limited. I am hands on and like to know not only what but the details of how they will complete the job. The customer education was limited. For example, apparently the stringers (vertical pieces) of aluminum they use with this fencing is not secured to the horizontal member by screw as the old installation was. Wes says this is better. But, with that, I was not told that this would impact the ability to alter the height of the panels. The result is that on installation these panels were taller than I expected. It is not noticeable with how it ties to other fencing, but the "surprise" is one of those things impacting my scoring on professionalism. Also, I had some minor concerns about "fit and finish" and asked them to correct. They did timely. On finishing, Wes was very concerned about getting my check. I offered to meet him and/or bring it to his office. He relayed that he was concerned about payment based on his experience with people in my neighborhood, "not you, just people in your neighborhood".. He then said mailing was fine. On balance, I was happy with the job and would use them again.

It went very well. I first contacted them via email after using Angie's List. I received a call back that day. Wes came out and reviewed my situation and provided a verbal quote and estimated time of work. I did have to follow up to get a written quote. I also had to follow up to get a status update on when the work would begin. The date of the work had to be shifted due to the weather. The guys showed up on the appointed day and after a quick meet & greet got busy. From the first contact to completion of work took a little more than a week. Everyone I spoke to was extremely courteous and sincerely interested in working with me to get the job done. I am satisfied with the work and will use Ultimate Fencing again for any future needs.

Wes contacted me right away to schedule a time to stop by and give me a quote. I signed the contract on the spot (price was where I expected it to be) and he scheduled me on the books. Janice was very helpful throughout the process and sent email updates to confimr our scheduled time to begin the work. Mike and Will removed the old fence/posts and installed the posts on day 1 and completed the fence on day 2. They were profesional and courteous and asked specific questions to make sure they were completing the project to my speciications. They left the area clean with literally no sign there had been workers at the house for two days, other than the beautiful new fence. I am very pleased with the result and would recommend them to friends.

Ultimate Fencing did a great job on our custom fence and I would use them again. It is a great looking fence and they did it in a reasonable amount of time. Communication was excellent and I am very impressed with their email correspondence. They are definitely one of the better contractors I have dealt with. Wes is a friendly and professional person to do business with. Thank you!

They showed up on time, fixed the latch on the gate and said there was no charge. They noticed a broken pipe that was gushing in the neighbor's yard and helped us turn off their water. We would definitely use them again.

They showed up on time, asked what the project ideas we had for fencing the back were, the type of materials were interested in and provided alternatives for us to consider. We received the estimate within a few days. We decided to hold on on the project due at this time due to other priorities.

I did not go with Ultimate, but wish I had. I went with a vendor who was $100 difference in price but said they would perform the work within three days. Ultimate was going to be out of town on a family vacation that he could not change. I understood that and commended him for keeping his promise to his family. As it turns out, the other company did not deliver. Ultimate Fencing was prompt with his estimate, asked specific questions so that he could provide an accurate estimate, and followed up when he had not heard back from me. Next time, I am going with Ultimate Fencing.

Overall, it was very good.

The work was supposed to be started on Monday, but due to heavy rains, they were not able to start until Tuesday morning. The bushes were removed and hauled away on Tuesday. They worked all day Wednesday, and completed most of the work by the end of the day. The only thing left to complete was the gate, which was finished Thursday morning. I was very pleased with the quality of the work and the promptness in completion. I would definitely recommend this company, and use them again for fencing needs in the future.

They gave us an estimate for the work. We agreed on the project and price. They prepared a design and submitted it to the City for approval. Once approved, they began the constuction of the deck. Their work was slowed somewhat by the number of recent rainy days--not their fault. We were 100% pleased with the quality of the workmanship. They went out of their way to add touches that made the deck more attractive. Our new deck looks great! We would definitely recommend Ultimate Fence & Deck.

They answered my call immediately, and I felt that they came as soon as we got off the phone. They gave me an estimate and came the next day to fix the gate. They did an excellent job. The gentlemen who came was socialable, nice, and courteous. He was also very professional, I was very happy with them.

after many attempts to contact the company that had installed the fence, getting a few email replies but never showed, i called several companies listed in the phone book. Wes James contacted me within a day or two of my email, came out to give estimate the next day and repaired a few days later.what impressed me the most was that Wes noticed the side gate not swinging or closing properly and repaired without asking.i did ask if he could return to repair the one side of the double gate which he also repaired the same day.did not add to the estimate.

The crew was extremely eliable and responsive to our requests. They came when they said they would and were excellent to work with. All projects were completed as requested within the time they said they would be done. I would highly recommend them and would use them again for any needed projects!

Professional and punctual crew. Solid work. Can't really comment on the price because other businesses would not provide an estimate for the job - "too small". Would definitely use these guys again!

I contacted Wes James for an estimate and he came right out to the house with little to no advance notice. I actually had 3 fence guys come out, and Wes was the most professional, and gave me the most confidence that he knows what he is doing and takes great pride and high quality craftsmanship. The job began as scheduled and was finished ahead of schedule. The Fence looks amazing! Wes went well above and beyond what anyone else would do including clearing out shrubs and helping to deal with a crazy neighbor who called the Home Owners Association to try to put a stop to the work! I would consider giving any and all future remodel work to Wes of Ultimate Fencing, they are by far the superior company in town as far as service, quality, price, and the overall experience.A++

They started a day late due to a previous job, the guys worked late the second night on the brick posts to complete the entire job on time, they worked in the rain without complaint and did a first class job.

I can't recommend Wes highly enough. His price was fair and he gave great advice about the structure of the fence. His crew was amazingly professional and polite. He was responsive to the end, which frankly isn't always the case with service people when they've already been paid and the job is 99% complete!

Several rain storms delayed the work a few days but job was done and done well. They cleaned up the site and hauled broken fence pieces away.

They've done quite a bit for me. I use them regularly and I would highly recommend them. The reason behind the double gates was as a result of the damage done to the concrete in the past. The septic gate comes up to my yard so any heavy truck like a septic tank truck doesn't have to come up my concrete and cause damage. There was great difficulty because of the slope of the driveway to get the fence gate just right in height so that small animals could not come into my yard or my dogs could not get out of the yard and it took quite a bit of tweaking in order get that done because of the slope of the driveway trying to keep the gates level and they worked on that till they got that just right and I appreciate that. Most companies would have said no to my requirement.

I like their work and dependability. They are competitively priced. They have been out here three times in the past year and a half replacing fencing for me. They are actually coming out today to finish work on my front gate. I have three acres of property and part of it got damaged in a tropical storm. They came right out and fixed it.

Work was done quickly and professionally. I had one small problem with the phone line being cut, but it was not the installers fault as the line was not where it was marked. It was quickly fixed.
