Ryan is as professional as any HVAC vendor I have used. I currently own or am part of 20+ properties across the United States and I have experienced the good, bad, and Ryan. Ryan's professionalism is what separates Ryan from the rest. In one four day period, I had a tenant request three service calls on a beach front property in Panama City Beach. One service call required a new thermostat. The second service call required a new wire on a capacitor. The final service call was the tenant complaining the A/C isn't cooling. Ryan and his crew showed up, checked everything, and told the tenant the only problem is the sliding glass door standing wide open in 95 degree heat. Better yet, Ryan communicated with the property management company that they need to quit wasting my money by just making call outs without any kind of protocols to determine if a HVAC tech is really needed. At the end of the day, Ryan only charged me for one of the service calls out of three visits on sight in a short period of time. Most HVAC companies will try to get every penny they can out of you. Because Ryan treated me fairly, I will continue to use Advantage Refrigeration and Air moving forward through the use of a service and maintenance contract.

We have 4 units here and Anthony showed up on time, with a pleasant demeanor and kept a great attitude the whole time he was here. He went over all the findings of the units and checked with us before starting any repairs. This was a Friday and he could very well have rushed through everything but he did not. One unit wasn't working at all. It just needed a Freon charge and is cooling good now. We found Anthony to be very honest and upfront . We will call on Advantage Air again should we require service in the future.

Ryan is very knowledgeable regarding HVAC issues and is great at explaining them. He and his employee were professional and worked quickly to repair my system. The price for the repair was very fair! As a consumer, I feel obligated to notify proper agencies when the service I paid for was inferior as well as delayed. My purpose is to let others know of my dissatisfaction with this business, it's owner, Ryan and the technicians that were sent to my property. This company was sent out by Old Republic Home Warranty. They will also be notified of my dissatisfaction. On May 12,2014 I was notified that Advantage Air would contact me. An appointment was scheduled on May 14, at which time my air conditioner was turned off, and I was told not to turn it back on. After several days I called the owner,Ryan. He said the he was looking for a part. At a week I contacted him again, since I had not heard anything, he was waiting on a call back about a part. I asked him to call me by end of day to let me know. He did call and it was going to be another week to get the part. It took 17 days to fix my air conditioner! I asked him to do maintenance on my AC when he came to replace the part and he charged an additional charge. I understood that and paid for the service. Ryan did not do the work, but one of his technicians did. A week after this maintenance was done, for which I paid extra, I had a licensed electrical/mechanical contractor out for a different problem. He fixed an outlet problem and then helped with a new thermostat the we had purchased. He looked at our AC inside unit. He mentioned how dirty the coils were and showed me. I told him that I had just paid extra to have maintenance done. I contacted Ryan and sent pictures, hoping to get the issue resolved. To date and according to Ryan there is nothing more for him to do. The whole experience has been very negative. He was very rude and unprofessional in addition to providing poor service. I did notify him that I would be filing this complaint.
Description of Work: My AC was turned off on May 14, 2014. A part had to be ordered and replaced. That took this company 14 days. When they finally returned I asked them to do maintenance on my AC to hopefully prevent any further problems.

Customer had a warranty and the parts had to be ordered for her ac. I even conferenced her in on the call with the supplier to calm her down. She asked for a maintenance which includes brushing the coils and cleaning in place. The customer got what she paid for and what she needed, she sent me the pictures the coil is clean just has some staining from age and no amount of cleaning will remove that she just wants something for nothing. I offered to send someone back out and she said she only wanted her $100.00. Tech went out on May 14 and new part was installed on May 28 two days earlier the originally agreed upon. Customer had option to overnight but didn't want to spend the extra money. You get what you pay for. You cant expect overnight shipping and not pay for it, you cant expect a $100 ac maintenance to remove years of neglect. Customer also forgets to tell everyone the coils are clean not effecting the pressures and the system is operating property. She has some "jackleg" who is not licensed to do HVAC work telling her uneducated information. Bottom line is she wants something for nothing, services were render and maintenance was done properly. She didn't want to spend the money to get the ac repaired any faster.

UPDATED JUNE 02, 2014. Ryan did finally contact me and he has been trying to make good on being a professional. He has been in contact with me and has been responsive. Matter of fact, he is trying to help me with my situation. I'm not all on board yet but I will continue to work with him in hopes of getting either my AC fixed or a new one. I have changed my ratings to all Fair with the exception of punctuality. I have not met with Ryan yet nor set up a time for us to meet so I cannot honestly comment on his punctuality. Now, I need to respond to his message because Ryan DID contact me last. WEDNESDAY, MAY 28, 2014. On Tuesday, May 27, 2014, I contacted Ryan about 12:35 pm. He was driving at the time so he asked that I call him back in 30 minutes. I called and there was no answer. I called a second time about 2:00 and he answered. He said he had a lot of cals since mine which is why he didn't get back to me. I told him I need a quote on a new system and I asked about his ad on Craigslist advertising $99/month. He said he had financing, what I would need to be approved and he could send me a credit app. I gave hime my email address and my name and he was going to send the credit application. he also asked me to send a photo of the outside unit and the inside unit. By 6:00 I sill had not received the credit app so I called again and left a message. Wednesday morning Ryan called me at 9:39 AM and we spoke for 2 minutes where I told him I never got the credit app. We discovered he wrote down the wrong email address so I gave it to him again and he said he was sending it right then. Needless to say, he still did not send it and yes, I checked my junk folder. At 12:05 I sent Ryan a Text Message with a photo of the outside unit and I told him I did not have one of the inside unit but that the air handler works. I also told him that I still did not receive the credit application and that It was not in my junk folder either. I again gave him my email address as well as my work email address. Again - nothing from him. No text, no email, no calls no credit app. This guy is so unresponsive I don't know how he is part of Angie's List with an "A" rating. Being busy is one thing. Being inconsiderate is another. I would never recommend him. Run, Run fast - go to someone else who keeps their word. If Ryan can't keep his word about something as minor as sending me the credit application, what else would he not keep his word about. Is he reliable? From what I see - No!!!!! Oh - And I just checked my email again before sending this. Still nothing.
Description of Work: Ryan contacted me right after I submitted my Angies List remarks. Update. This guy does not care. ithe last time I spoke with him was june 4th. He never contacted me back, all because I told him I wanted to be home when he came to my house. I told him I worked until 5 so he would have to come after that. His resoonse to me wss "I don't work that late. So I suggested anytime on Saturday. He never responded. This guy is not reliable. He seems to only want your business if you don't have to finance your AC unit. By the way, he's also very expensive. Told me he had the lowest prices in town. What a joke. I laughed and told him I had 2 quotes already that were lower. Shop around!!!! He is not the lowest and definately NOT the most professional. If anything happens to my property or my AC unit after this post, I'll know he's responsible. Shop around. Systems Service and Engineering, Complete Air Conditioning and All American Air Conditioning are 3 companies that are lower and don't mind working with your schedule. And they return your calls or text messages.

I was trying to get it to you I just couldn't understand your email over the phone after you text it to me I sent it right over.I told you I wasn't in the office when we first talked so I set clear expectation. It help when you give an email over the phone to say M like mary ( your m & n sound very similar on a verizon cell phone) . I even told you I would beat your lowest write quote for the inconvenience. I even texted with outside of normal business hours to make sure you got the application and give you bids on brands. I apologize that I didn't live up to my reputation I will try harder and would love for you to give us another chance. Very timely response once they received the work order from Angie's List. There was an additional $40 charge for a part needed. The next day the system had a problem & they had to come back and did so within 2 hours to adjust something concerning the coolant. Has been working great ever since. I purchased the AC Tune Up deal on April 11, 2014. I was contacted, via email, by the service provider stating that the phone number listed on Angie's List was incorrect and was given a new number. I called the new number and scheduled the service to be conducted the week of April 13 - 19 (I think the date was April 15). I was told the service provider would arrive between 0800 - 1200 on the date we arranged. I waited until noon, and after the service provider did not show, I left and went to lunch. I contacted the provider to arrange a second date. Storms in the southeast tied up their schedule, so the new (2nd) appointment was made for May 6. I was told the provider would be at my house between 0800 - 1000. Again the provider failed to show. When I called them to ask what happen, I was told that there was no 2nd appointment made. Blame was then placed on me for failing to be at the first appointment as well as failing to have proper contact info listed on my Angie's List profile. Yet, somehow I received the initial email with the correct, updated phone number that I used to schedule the first appointment with. I am finished with this service provider. Obviously, things did not workout between us, and I would like a refund on this deal. I do not feel comfortable permitting this service provider to work on my AC unit nor do I feel comfortable allowing them inside my home.

I called Ryan on the phone to discuss services for a couple townhouse. Ryan explained their semi- annual inspection maintenance agreement which I signed up. After setting up a time for the appointment, the tech showed up on time and prepared. Fully expecting after the first inspection to need new parts, I was pleasantly surprised that all I needed was to have the coils cleaned. I believe these guys are honest based on my experience. When was the last time a HVAC contractor show up at your home or business and didn't try to sell you a bunch of hew parts

Our heat went out due to a faulty breaker switch. We called Ryan around 1:00 in the afternoon, he had Dustin here by 3:30.He diagnosed and fixed the problem by 5:00. I would definitely use them again, very polite and figured out the problem quickly.

I used this company through American Home Shield home warranty service to repair the HVAC system in my rental unit. Ryan called within one business day to set up a time to come over fix the system. On the first visit the repairman was punctual, courteous, and informative about the repair. The system worked well after he left. About a month later my renters called and said the air conditioning was no longer cooling. Once again Ryan called within one business day and set-up a time and day to come out. I had to call and also have them repair the heating system. My renters now tell me that the system is working well. The only complaint I have is that no one called me after the second service call to let me know what was needed to repair or replace the unit. And I still don't know what they found when they checked out the electric furnace. I am not sure if American Home Shield was supposed to inform me or Advantage Refrigeration and Air, Inc.

I was having a lot of duct in my house and staying sick all the time so I called Advantage Refrigeration & AIr, INC they sent out one of the owners KEvin Swinney and he explained what all needed to be done and showed me how dirty my old evap was and the leak on the condenser. He said it could be fix but my unit was 20 years old and I was tired of the $400 power bills. The next day they sent out a crew of 4 people including the owners of Advantage they had two people cleaning the ducts while the other two were removing the ac system. After all the ducts were cleaned they installed the new ac system and explain how all the new stuff working like the tstat and uv light. They were very helpful and kevin is sweet as they come. I would recommend Kevin and his crew to anyone needing ac or duct cleaning.

I have been using their services off and on for about a year and half. The serviced turned out well. When I call they are usually able to come out the same day for the appointment.

We had purchased a big deal for the service,and it turned out good. The problem with the air conditioners and heaters and things is that this little widget is broken, and you will have to pay 50 Dollars. How is a customer supposed to know if the part is broken. The air conditioner is working fine, but there is a broken part. All in all it wasn't bad. He seemed conscientious. He was probably telling the truth about the broken part, but I will never know.

I completely understand where you are coming from and I am sorry the tech did not explain how he new the part was weak or going bad. It is our job while doing the maintenance to test the capacitors and check the contactor's points, he should have showed you his testing to prove the part was weak. Even if the system is still running a part such as a capacitor can be weak which can cause the compressor damage over long term use. The biggest reason we do the maintenance is so you dont have a weak part damage the system and to try to prevent a repair (i.e. part going out on the weekend or in the middle of summer). I apologize that he did a poor job of explaining this to you. I will get with him and coach him up on this topic. If you would like to call me I can stop by and show you the failure to the system and correct it for you.

I used the Angies List coupon to have them come checkout my A/C unit on the home I just bought. They helped me trace out the intakes and see how it was rebuilt a few years ago. They cleaned the unit and some of the vents fairly quickly. They were on time and nice to deal with.

After the unit was hooked up Ryan walked the house and held his hand on each supply vent to test the air flow, when asked about the flow he said he could feel air at three inches above the vent which meant it was getting enough air. Folks there is no such thing as a three inch rule, my father and two of my uncles worked in the heating and air business for most of there adult working lives, sadly my uncles have past, but when i mentioned this "rule" to my father he laughed his rear end off and said there is no such thing. Two weeks after the installation i called and asked if they could come out and move the thermostat since it was in a bad spot (i did asked for it to be moved at the initial install) when Ryan said it would cost $200.00 to move it. I called Sears who said they could do it at no cost since there was an issue. THe problem with the location the T-stat got moved was it was near and exterior door, in close proximity to a supply vent and a dryer, so what was happening is the heat was coming on and warming the bedroom my wife and i sleep in and not properly heating the kids room at the other side of the house. When Ryan and his helper came out Ryan had an attitude, almost as if he didn't want to be in my home. We discussed the possible locations to move the T-stat and everywhere I asked he said wouldn't work. Some location were do to physical location being the house is a mobile. The two locations I asked to relocate to Ryan said I couldn't do due to code. I said that i had never heard of such code (according to Ryan the code states you can not place a T-stat above or near a return air, this is incorrect, the best placement for a T-stat is near a return air so that the best mixture of air for the entire house can be feed back to the unit to heat/ cool your home adequately. As verified by several A/C contractors in the area.) I told Ryan I would get a second opinion and call another cmpany to which his response was "They don't know what they are doing they are just hired hands who haven't read the code, I know the code I've read it." So after a bit of back and forth I told him where i wanted the T-stat and he reluctantly agreed to place it where i requested. After he finished the work I noticed on the floor bits of wire, This is a big problem for me with having an infant who likes to put everything in his mouth, That I had to clean up. A little time passes and we are still having issues with the heating of our home I call Sears to discuss the issue. Come to find out Ryan and his partner didn't install the unit correctly, there was no electric dissconnect as the contract indicated and the supply line was installed right below our room hince giving our room all of the warm air. (Revised 4-19-12) In response to Advantage Refrigeration & Air Inc. Do I have older mobile? Yes I do, would I say it is falling apart? not really, its needs a little TLC but its a good home. Sears did hire another company to move the Supply line and with that being done it caused a more equal heat distribution and dropped the two $300.00+ electric bills down to a more manageable $180.00, Ryan states in his response the supply got moved to prove nothing would change, it make a big change. As far as the insulation under the home there are spots that have none this is true but the spots that have none or its missing are in the back end where all the heat was originally going, again once the supply was moved it made the overall warmth of the house better. The T-Stat issue, for one it is not right over the return it is about five to six feet to the right and on the wall at a height of five feet, not directly over it. And checking with licensed A/C contractors in the states of Florida and Arizona (both states where A/C is important) I was still given the information that the best place for a T-Stat is close to or near the return air. Now that temps are a little higher and we have switched over to A/C from heat the cooling runs just fine, the unit kicks on cools down and doesn't have to kick back on for awhile, I feel its working wonderfully both bedrooms are nice and cool and the living area in between is comfortable. As for a permit i the building department and no permit was pulled for this job, if it was i never got to see it. I gave a perfect score on the Sears survey because at the time every SEEMED OK, it wasn't till later that issues came up. I will admit at first I was upset with Sears, that is who i paid that is who needed to fix it. Sears came through and fixed the problems just with another company. In response to the line about needing insulation and not wanting to pay for it, just trying to "pass the buck". What a BOLD and false statement to be make. I have been in the house for less than a year and like i said it needs TLC and the insulation is on my list as soon as I can get time to do it. Even after the clean up there were still bits of wire, very obvious bits, i have less than perfect vision and I could see them on the floor, the reason i am upset about that is again small child who likes to put things in his mouth. The electrical disconnect was part of the SIGNED contract i had. since the electrical panel was inside the house, near the unit but not visible to the unit, a disconnect was required, that way if another tech come to work on it he can do a lock out tag out. This is for the safety of the guy outside, in case the homeowner doesn't realize the tech turned off the breaker and flips it on. The manager (William) of the Sears Home Services verified the disconnect outside the home near the unit was necessary. In a conclusion I was overall happy with what Sears did, They paid to move the T-stat, they paid to move the supply, the paid to add an electrical disconnect, they brought out a manager to do a walk through of the property and project before giving the other company the ok to start the work they did. I was satisfied with the work Done by Ryan on the initial install, because i was unaware of the issues hiding below the surface and the unprofessional attitude shown when asked to come back, as well as the disrespect given to me in my home. You get the owner with this company that is true. My Dad ran a heating company in Colorado for 20 years before being forced into early retirement due to injury, before owning his own company he worked for several companies in Denver and surrounding areas with a total experience of close to 40 years. I value my dad option on these types of issues because of the knowledge he gained working on residential and commercial buildings.
Description of Work: Advantage Refrigeration & Air Inc was used as a contractor with Sears, we didn't pay the company directly. They came out and did an inspection of the are of work to be done. on the day of the work the guys were professional, showed up on time and did the install on a package unit.

This job did not need a disconnect since it was next to a breaker panel. Sear did pay me to come out and move the t-stat and Member has a very old mobile home that is falling apart. Sear said there was nothing wrong with the location of the supply they just moved it to prove to him it would not change anything. He has NO insulation under his home and this is why is home will not stay warm. As for the t-stat right above the return he will have problems in the summer with the unit running more than it needs to because of it being right over the return. Claims his had was a heating contractor in Colorado the only state you do not need a license to do ac work in. We did sweep up his home if we missed something I am sorry for that. Bottom line is the job had a permit and passed code if there was anything wrong with my work it would not have passed code inspection. He is a link to a site were some other PRO HVAC contractors are talking about why you don’t put the t-stat right above the return. Member also gave me perfect scores on my Sear's Survey the day of the install. He was just made at Sears and anyone who worked on the project because his home needs insulation and he does not want to spend the money. He is trying to pass the buck. I am a licensed contractor when you use my company you get the owner unlike some companies where you just get a tech who may not know as much as a licensed contractor. In heat mode you do not want a strong air flow you want about 3 inches of air flow out of each vent. Heating the van goes down to a lower speed then it does in AC mode.
