Chimney Keeper

I did not know that our dryer vent needed to be cleaned--especially since it is the kind that goes out the roof. It had not been done in the 10 years since we built our home. It was pretty bad and Chimney Keeper did a good job cleaning it out. I would recommend them for this service. Our dryer seems to be working better now.

The workers were punctual and friendly.

The service was fine, its just take awhile for them to get schedule because they didn't contact me.

I purchased a special on Angie's list for Chimney Cleaning on December 19th. I called to schedule an appointment and was told he was booked till early January and someone would call me the following week to schedule me. No one called me till mid-January. When it was scheduled, he canceled due to rain. Then it took three phone calls days to reschedule. The day I was resceduled for, I took the morning off of work. Around an hour past the time he was supposed to arrive I called him and he had no idea we had an appointment and said he obviously made a mistake in scheduling me because it was a Holiday (Martin Luther King) and he was not working that day, I told him it was not a holiday for me and now I missed a half day of work, so he would have to come out on a Saturday. He came out the following Saturday and said he was not aware it was a gas fireplace (he never asked), so he would not be able to clean it. I told him I was having the gas disconnected and he offered to have someone he knew do it for $225. I had someone else do it for $50. He also said I needed to repair a crack inside the fireplace before he could do any work. He would do it for $125. He told me to call him when I had it taken care of. Seventeen days later I called him to let him know it was taken care of and he can come out now. First he didn't return my calls and again I reached him on the third call. He did not remember who I was or what he needed to do at my house. Then he ridiculed how I repaired the crack (I did it myself after another service person told me I could do it and save the money). He scheduled me for two weeks out. I asked him if he couldn't come sooner, since this was paid in full since December and it is not fair I have to wait over two months to have him clean the chimney. He said I don't control his schedule and he can't help it if he is booked. I told him he should squeeze me in, since I have been waiting so long. He was disrespectul and rude. I get the overall impression he doesn't want to work, I asked for my money back and he said to contact Angie's list.

Service was polite, but took 2 weeks to arrive. Said we needed a crown, cap, pressure washing, waterproofing, but price seemed extremely high. Called another service recommended by Better Business Bureau and was told cap was okay, crown needed some work, but the fire brick was in need of replacement and that if a fire was built in present condition embers could find a way into walls and cause a fire. He did not even recommend a cleaning and knew of no stone masons. In the meantime I am not using fireplace at all!

I purchased a big deal for a chimney sweep on November 25th, 2013, received and returned 2 emails asking for contact information. I waited a few weeks for them to call me or email me and nothing. Called their office and spoke with someone who said they had no record of my purchase, I explained to them that I do have a record of it and gave them the order number. The man I spoke with said he would look it up and give me a call back. I never received a call back. I waited another week and called again. This time I spoke with a lady who said she was an ANSWERING SERVICE because no one was in the office. She took down all the information that the first gentleman had, and said someone would give me a call back when they returned to the office. I never received a call back. Today, February 3rd, 2014 I tried calling their office and a got a RECORDING that asked me to leave a message. I left a message asking them to call me back, leaving my phone number a 3rd time, and have received no return phone call. I spoke with Angies list and now will be receiving my refund through them.

Very friendly and professional. Also had them do additional work to correct some problems that were needing repair from time of house purchase. Very satisfied with work.

One gentleman went on the roof and removed the chimney cap and cleaned down the chimney and the second gentleman was at the fireplace having sealed the opening with a cloth. Once the man on the roof had finished the cloth was removed and the debris vacuumed up. All very neat and tidy. The chimney cap was brought down from the roof for me to look at and advice was given as to what needed to be done for it to be maintained should I not wish to replace it at this stage. The mesh was missing and again advice was given along with the possibility of the company ordering what I might need if I wished for them to do the work. There was no pressure exerted that I needed to replace anything at this stage apart from the mesh and paint the chimney cap to prevent any further corrosion. I would definately consider using the company again and my only reservation was their failure to contact me in a timely manner after I purchased the service. (In the end Angie's List stepped in and contacted the company for me and I got a subsequent response.) I realized it was a busy time of year and although I was happy to wait for the work to be done it does help to have the appointment booked so plans can be made accordingly.

I was super pleased at the work and the work ethic. Very courteous group. I'm definitely using them on an annual basis!

Signed up for a chimney cleaning service on Angie's List. Received one response on Angie's List e-mail that they wanted a phone number. I replied with two, I never heard from them and this has been well over a week.

They told me I needed a new venting system for my dryer. They also said that they could not clean this type of vent because it was too long. They would not credit me for the clean up that I purchased.

They cleaned my chimney and repaired my cap. I had to wait a few weeks for them to come but they have been very busy. I would use them again.

I did not use there services due to not wanting to pay for another inspection. Was only looking for additional quotes for installation of a wood stove.

They set up the appointment for the initial cleaning and showed up on time. During the chimney inspection, they found the box and the cap in need of repair. We scheduled a follow up date for both. The workers came out and made repairs to both without issue.

They were on time and very professional and informative. We finely feel comfortable having a fire in our fireplace!

He did a great job and cleaned up well. They were prompt and I was happy with the service.

I purchased a "deal" to clean my chimney in mid-September. Since we had birds living/nesting in the chimney all summer I also requested to install a new chimney cap. The first visit in Sept. was to inspect the chimney and measure for installation of the cap. Some additional repairs were needed which were completed on a second visit (approx. 3 weeks later) when the cap was also to be installed. The cap that was delivered was the wrong size so they covered the chimney with a blue tarp and reordered the cap. It was another 5 weeks before I had an appointment for installation and only after numerous follow up calls. I was frustrated with the lack of communication and the time it took to complete the work BUT all work was done professionally and the pictures they took to show me the chimney work reflected a job well done. The job was more costly than I thought it should have been but I think I paid for quality work. I would definitely give this contractor another try, hoping the communication is better.

It took a couple of days to set up the appointment but they arrived on time, did a great job, were courteous and professional. I will definitely use Chimney Keepers again!
