The company was working on big installation job with a deadline, but still took 3 men off to get us fixed even though we were new customers and they had not installed the shutters originally.
Description of Work: Our large storm shutter spun off the spindle holder and jammed. Frank's crew found the problem, observed that set screws had not been properly placed during a repair (another company) in 2004. They fixed the problem without having to replace anything (except a few screws).

I originally contacted Roll-A-Guard in late 2008 to get an estimate. Sandra came to my house, and we had an excellent discussion about my options. She gave me an estimate, but I was unable to go ahead with the project at that time. Almost a full year later, I was finally able to move forward. When I contacted Roll-A-Guard , they had all of my paperwork still on file, and they were happy to honor the price they had given me in 2008. I was very impressed with how smoothly they were able to pick up where we had left off so many months earlier. Even better, they were able to accommodate my need to rush the installation of the shutters. The two gentlemen that installed the shutters and the door were very friendly and did an excellent job with the installation.
Description of Work: Roll-A-Guard installed aluminum panel shutters on all of my windows and gable vents and replaced two exterior doors.

All our questions, and we had many, were promptly answered. The workers helped remove some bolts left from old shutters before doing their own work. Everyone was cooperative. We had to wait for approval from our homeowners group. Roll-a-guard kept us in the pipeline while we were waiting, and agreed they would refund if the installation was not approved. We did have to supply photos to our committee, but there was no problem.
Description of Work: We purchased folding aluminum shutters for our all our windows and doors. Ours is a 1640 square ft. home. We got an estimate from them two years ago, but waited because of the cost. However, this was the company we wanted when the time came to act.

Andy and John came over to repair one of the rolldown shutters that became jammed up because of a large mud dauber nest. They also cleaned, lubed and debugged the other 7 shutters - what a difference it made. The shutters were installed 3 years ago by Roll A Guard and I didn't realize the importance of having them serviced on a regular basis...or what kind of damage mud daubers and other critters do once they get into the shutter mechanism (and the shutters are used daily for sun control and privacy).

Andy helped me go through the various shutter options I had before we agreed to do accordians. Overall he did seven windows plus two larger shutters that completely encircle a back patio room with glass going all around two sides - the shutter also covered the back door. I only bought a rolling cloth for the front door. Andy's crew came out on the day they said they would and completed everything in one day. Everything was cleaned up properly when they left. Overall this was an excellent experience.

Everything from my first meeting with Sandra who showed me my options for this install, to the official measurements taken by Andy, to the installation was handled professionally. Great care was taken to protect my home during the installation. Everyone I've met from Roll-a-guard has been personable and friendly. They all know their business and I have never felt pressured to buy something I didn't need or to buy the most expensive solution.

The men knew the ins and outs of the produce and quicly determined what was wrong. It was difficult to fix but they had some unique tricks that solved the problem
Description of Work: They had to fix another company's product that was improperly installed. The shaft on a rolldown had come out of it's bearing. It was a difficult job that required experience. The 2 men were outstanding and corrected the same problem on another unit before it also might have broken. I was extremely pleased with their work and price.

Same friendly and professional service one can expect from Roll-A- Guard due no less to Andy and his wife Sandy and the high standards they have developed and maintain.
Description of Work: Prevously installed hurricane shutters for an 1800 square foot luxury condo with the latest state of the art materials exceeding Dade County hurricane shutter standards. There has been no problems with the operation of the shutters or failure of any component in the past three years. The problem was very minor and did not effect the integrity of the shutter system to protect the interior of the condo.

Both sales and installation were on time and responsive. Installation only took a day (total of 15 openings with a mixture of solutions - aluminum, polycarbonate and mesh). We were able to test them only one week after installation due to the threat of Fay. We found one drilled hole plug stripped and a couple shutter panels fitting quite tight in the frame. Roll-a-Guard came back the next day to remedy those issues. Overall, we were very pleased with the service. We had gotten previous estimates for shutters in 2004 but never followed through because either the company did not appear to be one we wanted to work with or the solution wasn't convincing or cost-effective. Roll-a-Guard changed that for us and we put down our initial deposit immediately after talking to them and getting approval from our homeowners association.

Roll a Guard was one of three companies I received proposals regarding storm protection for my house. The other companies broke down the price reflecting each opening and product used with measurements, etc. Sandra Ayers' was the highest and gave a bulk price for the total job. When I requested a more itemized breakdown, I was informed that she does not do that. Several of the companies were using the exact same products that Sandra quoted and had no problem itemizing the work. The final decision not to use this company was when I was told that you do not need a permit in Florida to install hurricane Shutters. Florida Building Code states that permits must be pulled. "If you live in Florida, home and business owners must have a permit to do any addition to their home or business. Also, most storm shutter contractors will apply for your permit for you." So, consumers, please check the Florida Building Code before having storm shutters installed.

Besides protecting my house, I wanted to take advantage of both the possibility of a rebate from the My Safe Florida Home program and a reduction in my insurance. Sandra Ayers, the Roll-A-Guard representative, knew exactly what I needed to do, the forms required and all the other bureaucratic requirements. She promised to take care of whatever I needed. She also promised that the installers would inspect my other accordion shutters and make any repairs and adjustments. Finally, she made some decorative/design suggestions that were very useful. The company notified my of an install date, showed up on time, completed their work and cleaned up. They did everything Sandra promised and she followed up with me to ensure satisfaction. I obtained my insurance discount and my rebate from the My Safe Florida Home program. This was a very good experience!
Description of Work: Although I had Hurricane protection on most of my doors/windows, after the house was inspected by an inspector from the My Safe Florida Home program, I needed to secure some additional openings. I obtained bids from two companies and opted to go with Roll-A-Guard. Both bids were close in total cost, but it was the difference between their representatives that sold me. They installed accordion shutters on two doors and Lexon covers over some windows and attic vents.
