Petre and Daniel were our two movers. They called an hour before they were expected to arrive to let us know they were on their way. When they arrived they scouted the house to plan how to load the truck. They were efficient with moving. They didn't stand around and waste time at all. We bought them lunch and provided them with bottles of water, which they were grateful for. Overall, they were very pleasant. The big rave I have is that my husband and I were looking everywhere for our TV plug. The day after we moved I received a call from the company stating that they found the plug and a key when cleaning the truck. I explained that we had family in town and asked if they could overnight it to us. But, they did better than that! They drove it to us. They are located an hour away and drove it to us the very next morning. The customer service was impeccable, and we'd definitely recommend them and use them again (God forbid we ever move again).

We purchased a deal through Angie's List to move out most of our belongings when we bought a new home. Our plan was to leave furniture at the house we were selling to stage it. In our initial move we left some bedroom pieces, a living room set, a dining room set, a kitchen table, and some kitchen items, as well as wall hangings. The house sold in 3 days and we had to move out the remaining items within 2 weeks. Since I had just used Start Moving a few weeks prior and was thrilled with their service, I called them and set up another move date. The move went off without a hitch and the team was fantastic. I do not plan on moving again anytime soon, but if I did, I would contact Start Moving.

5The movers were prompt and very professional. They worked very hard for most of the day and only took 1 15 minute break (I didn't ask for this, they just kept going)! All went well except they did not estimate the size of the truck needed to move and they had to make a second trip which caused extra time and money. Once I knew there would be a second trip, they were very flexible and allowed me to add additional items and make an additional stop at a second location.

The movers came in and packaged everything carefully. They loaded up the truck and drove to the new location where they placed all items in the new home.

I had packed most of our belongings and had them in the garage. There were 3 guys who worked hard all morning. Apparently they were not able to take a break, because when I asked if there were going to stop for lunch after loading, they wouldn't do so without my permission. They loaded a 24 foot truck almost to the ceiling within about 2.5 to 3 hours. They did a great job but did get tired toward the end and, although I was pleased with their work, obviously just wanted to be done. I can't blame them. I would use them again and was happy overall with services.

The two men showed up a little late, but only about 20 minutes. They got the job done, so I can't argue with that. However, they were frustratingly slow. I had already packed all of my belongings into 13 tupperware containers and prepared all furniture for moving, so they just need to load their truck, drive to the house (3 miles away), and unload. This somehow took them 4 hours! I noticed that they were moving incredibly slow, so I called some friends right away to help. I think my friends did more work than the movers. To me, it felt like they were purposely moving slowly so that they could extend the work time past the Angie's List deal terms and charge me more for the service.

Start Moving is sorry if there was any miscommunication that came off as unpleasant conversation, we always aim to be as polite as possible when communicating and we love our clients. We hope that you will consider us in the future as we explained that we are indeed happy to help you with any moving related needs you may have. (Issue Recap: Client purchased a voucher from Angie's list $50 for $100 off of any service, the two hour minimum price came out to $260 therefore the client would pay an additional $160 after the savings. Client was under the impression that the pre paid $50 would cover the entire service bill. Start Moving explained the charges as politely as possible but it was not in the clients budget to use our services. The solution was to offer to the client to get a refund for the voucher, the hassle free refund was issued immediately)

The two men who showed up were nice. That is the only GOOD thing I can say about my experience. The Bad 1. They were an hour and 15 minutes late. 2. They did not bring any packing matetials. 3. There appeared to be an expectation that I would help. I didn't want to help. That's why I hired them. But I ended up helping. I'm not amused by that. 4. The last two hours or so they kept asking if I was good finishing up on my own. No. I wasn't. I'm a 50 year old woman. I've moved, on my own, more times than I can count. I don't want to do it on my own any more. That's why I hired them. 5. They didn't label anything. 6. That last bit of packing was sloppy. The guys I had unloading me at my destination were appalled at how the back of the truck was packed.

The guys arrived at your location at 9:12 am which is within the time frame you were scheduled for. I apologize that they did not have the packing materials, but they did offer to get them and you declined, as you had enough materials to finish the job already. The men only asked if you wanted to help with the packing because they were worried that you were concerned about the time because you were paying by the hour. I apologize if they asked too many questions, but is important to us that we are doing exactly what the customer wants, and in order to find that out, they must ask questions. Please know that we were not trying to be rude or make you do the work, they just wanted to be clear on what you wanted done because in the beginning, you had mentioned that you only wanted to pay for a certain number of hours.

It went as well as it could have gone. The two movers, Evan and Dominic, were extremely professional, courteous, and helpful. Arrived as scheduled and went to work right away,. Wrapped all the furniture before loading on truck. Very professional and extremely polite. The entire job took only 3.5 hours although the other house was led than a mile away. What I did to save time was to take all drawers out of each unit and bring them myself. Same with the incidentals, all they had to do was the heavy stuff, 2 sofas, dining room, 3 bed rooms, chairs etc. I did buy them lunch and brought it to the house and gave them a nice tip as it was well deserved.

Purchased the Big Deal offer of 2 Men, 2 Hours including the truck. $299.00 deal. Second bedroom had only a sleep sofa only with one dresser from master bedroom set. Which is one piece of an Normal bedroom set from the master bedroom set. After the transaction on Angie's List was completed, Brittany from Smart Moving called with the details. She was super pleasant to talk to. I explained the above info about what we had as far as furniture and boxes that would be moving with us to the new home. From my notes of that conversation she confirmed that the Big Deal price would apply so I would only have to pay the $299.00. She also explained that if the move went over the 2 hours included in the Deal that they bill $105.00 per hour after that and it is billed out in quarter hours. (no specification that the $105.00 was per each man.) I agreed verbally to these terms and we set the appointment for the Friday the 27th. On Wednesday we were told that our closing date was postponed to Friday the 27th. My wife called Smart Moving on Wednesday so we could reschedule. She told me she talked to the Rick and he was awesome and was able to move the appointment to Saturday afternoon between 2:00 and 4:00 pm. He also told her that he would (throw in a third mover for no extra charge). Saturday the 28th came and we were finishing packing since we had until 2:00 pm. I get a call from the moving guys in the truck at just around 11:00am saying they would be at the apartment in about half an hour. They asked me if our stuff would fit into a 14 foot box van. I told him I didn't think so. 14 feet is small and when we moved down here we had a 26 foot truck that was pretty full. The driver told me he would go back and get another truck. But they were already in the area and I offered that they swing but to see if they really needed one to move or if they could make it all fit. 10 minutes later I get a call from Brittany stating that if need be they would make a second trip for no extra cost to me. (inconvenient for me as well as the workers). 10 minutes after that Rick called me and told me the same thing. If a second trip was need it would be at no charge to me. If someone just came out to give an accurate estimate and see what was being moved they would not have brought the smallest truck possible. Bottom line.... The movers were awesome. Not there fault they had a small truck. SO. they get there at 12:30pm. FIRST thing I had to do was to hand write on their on form Pack up the truck as tight as possible. Also they gave me information that I should have before they even showed up. Such as emptying the dresser drawers instead of removing them and wrapping them in shrink wrap. (Which I had to do while they were away on the first trip. So MORE packing that was not planned for at the last minute) Also had no time left over due, to the added drawer packing, to wrap and pack the 2 boxes of glass cookware and other kitchen glassware. So that did not get moved at all. Putting in boxes, other items, as opposed to shrink wrapping them to be carried out. The movers had again loaded the 14 foot truck a second time top to bottom-stem to stern. They thought that was all of it except for my 55 inch LCD TV. There was no room for in the truck. So they told me I had to take it separate.. Thank god it fit in the back of my Prius. It took the entire back of the Prius with the back seats folded flat. Now I had no rom for the items I need to hand carry that were just too delicate for a moving truck as well as our laundry that we had to drop off at a laundry mat. Destroyed my plans again. The guys were asking if that was everything and I asked about the very small futon from the Master Bedroom. They did not have it and the truck was full. So they took a sofa and a love seat to goodwill to make room for the futon and the TV. I was excited so I could follow my personal agenda for the move. They same back from the 2 mile trip to goodwill and loaded the futon but still could not take the TV. So it went into the Prius as previously planed. Bad for me again. We got to the house and moved in rather quickly and very professional. It was about 7:00pm Some things were missed due to the quickness that the movers AND myself included wanted. A mirror not put back on a dresser and drawers not put back in, etc.Very small things. Then I get a bill for an additional MAN at a price of $150.00 an hour over the 2 included. BUT they were kind enough to discount 2 hours off 6 hours.. (not 5 1/2 as I was told it was billed in quarter hours) So what has happened to a few other reviewers was happening to me. There is no communication in their office between Rick the owner and his girlfriend Brittany. I explained about what we were told and quoted from each of them and he told me all calls were recorded and he could look it up.. First there was no disclaimer about recorded calls so if he did record us it was illegal. But I read him the extensive notes that I and my wife had taken that he agreed to discount to a lower per hour rate in addition to the 2 hour discount because he wanted us to be happy and give him a good review on Angie's list. The moving guys are awesome. The front office is almost (Rick and Brittany) like being suckered in and then SCAMMED. I just realized this morning that the extra money I paid .. The 4 hours at $105.00 per hour WAS SUPPOSED to be at NO COST because of the second trip. My theory... The third guy was offered at no charge because he was ALREADY on the truck from the previous job in Orlando. What was he going to do at my apartment. Just sit in the truck while the 2 guys I paid for work. I don't think so. The already had a truck in the area and knew I needed a larger one but since they are 90 minutes away it was more cost effective for them to make 2 trips in the 14 foot truck than spend three plus hours going back and getting the correct size truck for the job. Now I have to call back for a credit or call my credit card company to deny the charges. I have all the evidence/information I need. I was so tired and beaten down by them (NOT the moving guys) but the Owner Rick and his girlfriend Brittany I just wanted it to be over. I will be sure to let you know how this turns out.

Thank you for using our services. We are of course very sorry for the few small inconveniences that occurred during the move. We are always happy to hear that nothing was damaged and the team that performed the move was a pleasure to work with. I (Randy) was the one who got the call for the date change and although we had a full schedule we were able to fit the move in the afternoon on a Saturday to accommodate the clients needs. Since the move was going to start later in the day I recommended a 3rd man for a discounted rate of 45hr instead of 52.50hr and the client accepted the charges over a recorded line. Having a 3rd man does not increase the overall cost of the move however it is not a free add-on. Since the move was completed and the client had a problem with the charges for the extra man I (Randy) agreed to charge only the two man rate and forgive the misunderstanding. The client did have a truck that was too small because of the date change the small truck was the only option because our large trucks were already on other moves or we would have for sure sent it out right away if possible. for the inconvenience we offered to not charge the client for the time it takes to travel back and forth on the second trip, however the second trip could not be totally free because there is still plenty of load and unload labor involved. The inconvenience experienced by the client actually helped the client greatly financially. We took 1.5 hours off of the 7.5 hour total even though the travel time on the second round trip was only 1hr tops. We charged 6 hours total and only 4hrs on top of a 2hr prepaid deal. We also did not charge for the 3rd man and therefore the client saved apx. $300 off of the total. Customer service is always our top priority, although it seemed like there was some confusion and misunderstanding, our team actually stayed in close contact and knew exactly what was going on the entire time. We will continue to improve the way we send written confirmations to avoid more telephone miscommunications. Thank you and we hope to work with you again soon and we guarantee a better experience.
