Baymeadows Moving & Storage

This was a company move so I did not pay. However, the estimate gentleman from the company was very professional as was the packing and moving crew. My household goods are in storage now so I can't comment on any damage. However, after being in the military for 25 years I know what good packing looks like while it's happening. Baymeadows packers took the time to use ample padding and protective wrap so I believe all will be positive on the other end barring an accident type of event.

We've moved A LOT and the guys with Baymeadows Moving & Storage were GREAT! From the free estimate to billing, it all went smoothly. There were no surprises or hidden costs. The movers were professional, timely and wore company-logo attire. The truck was very clean and in excellent repair. Upon arrival, the lead mover verified what was to move and what was to stay. They were so pleasant and worked efficiently. They padded our furniture better than some of the leading cross-country moving companies we've used. There was literally no damage to the walls or our furniture on either side of the move. They also padded door jams and laid down protective floor pads. They disassembled and reassembled furniture and made sure I was satisfied with the placement of everything. I was VERY impressed and pleased with the whole process. I know we have more moves in our future and I will DEFINITELY call Baymeadows Moving & Storage for our next move! This company also offers storage and even though we did not use their storage I would strongly consider them in the future. They wrap your sofa and store it on shelves so air circulates freely. I love that!

They were upfront. They told me they only moved large item, but referred me to a company who could move smaller things. I appreciate that since not a lot of companies would do that.

These movers were great! Due to a miscommunication, probably on my part, Joe and Jeremy showed up the morning of the move with a smallish truck. We quickly determined we needed another man and possibly more truck space, both of which arrived within a half hour. They all worked diligently to wrap necessary items and get everything loaded, and both trucks were ready to go just after lunch. (I provided subs and drinks, but they only stopped long enough to eat then went right back to work.) A fourth man met us at the new location and everything was unloaded and placed according to my direction. The whole ordeal took just 8 hrs. I apologize for having such a bad memory that I can?t remember the names of the third and fourth men, because they were all outstanding. They were all helpful and courteous and worked tirelessly until the job was done. I would definitely use them if I decide to ever move again.

Easy and quick. They didnt bring extra boxes with them, so if there is a possibility you need them make sure they know.

I found Baymeadows on Angies List and suggested that my mother give them a call. She got estimates from two moving companies, but selected Baymeadows. I was present during the move to assist my mother. The Baymeadows packing team, lead by Kathy, was professional, experienced, thoughtful and careful. Movers and loaders including Tim, Lamar, Benjamin were also professional, experienced and efficient. I have moved a lot in my life and I have never seen so many packing quilts on a truck! Everything was padded and wrapped well. Tim, Lamar and Benjamin delivered and unloaded for us too. It was great to deal with the same people. They ran into a problem with the huge moving van - it could not travel down the long, sandy road to the home in SC. So unfortunately, the guys had to rent a smaller truck locally, transfer things to the smaller truck (two times) in order to reach the house. What a hassle and a lot of work. Their day ended up being three times as long as it was supposed to have been. But they tackled everything with cheer and vigor. I really appreciated that they made every effort to help my mother. Tim spotted her trying to rearrange furniture. He stopped her saying that while his team was there, they would move and rearrange anything she wanted. " You don't have to move anything while we are here." Payment was in the form of a cashier's check, according to the contract, which my mother had ready to give the driver when the shipment was delivered. The packers were paid separately, via credit card, for their hours and materials upon completion of packing. I do not know what was the price of the move because I did not pay for it.. From the standpoint of careful service, kind people and and a successful move, I highly recommend Baymeadows Moving. They are the best. I would use them again!

I hired this moving company based on their A rating on Angie's List and because they were a local moving company. I scheduled the move a few weeks ahead of time and spoke with the office person several times. I took a vacation day off work to reduce the cost of the move (higher rates on the weekends) and I chose a three-person team to make the move more efficient. I indicated that light packing assistance would be needed for some items (lamps mainly). My estimate was 4-5 hours though I conveyed that I have a lot of "stuff" for a two-bedroom apartment. The movers were scheduled to arrive at 8 am on Friday morning. I spoke with the office person earlier the same week as the move to ask a question. On the morning of the move, the movers did not arrive on time. At 8:30, I called the office to see when they would be arriving and the same office person indicated that my move had been canceled since they could not reach me to confirm the day prior. They had written my phone number down incorrectly so they canceled the move. Once I called them, they could send a moving crew over to my place when they found a crew but no apology was given or any offer to compensate me for my own wasted time. The moving crew arrived two hours later (10:30 am) which was 2.5 hours after the scheduled time. These men had not been scheduled to work my move and had already been working in the warehouse since 7 am (according to them). Their "supervisor" was an immature 20-21 year-old (which I know as he argued with the other young person over their ability to drink alcohol at their ages). The supervisor toured my property and identified several items that they would not guarantee since these were not packed in special wooden crates (flat screen TV, marble top, two mirrors). This should have been brought up by the office personnel when scheduling the move but I had to accept their terms in order to have the items moved that day. The movers started out efficiently enough but the supervisor spent most of the time outside (supposedly organizing the van) but seemed to be smoking and on the phone much of the time. They had not brought enough supplies and ran out of tape and blankets before everything was packed. Moving out of the first apartment took longer than the entire move was estimated to take. When we finally arrived at the second place, the supervisor again stayed outside on the phone or smoking, leaving the truck unattended with my belongings inside. Since the move started so much later than scheduled, it began to rain late in the afternoon so my stuff had to be unloaded in the rain. At one point, the supervisor left one of my Thomasville dining chairs unwrapped at the end of the truck directly under the rain dripping from the roof while he was on the phone. When I walked through the apartment after they were supposed to be finished, the mirror had not been re-attached to the dresser in the master bathroom so they had to come back into the apartment to finish. When I went back to clean the old apartment, I saw that they had left a blanket where it had propped the door open. There was a hole in the wall behind the blanket (not there prior to the move). It was the shortest move I have ever made but it was the most expensive and the most unpleasant. I am not able to recommend this company when asked about my experience.

In summary (the big picture first), we want to give a big 'high five' to the entire Baymeadows Moving and Storage company for a move that provided us with minimal stress and a wonderful outcome. From the first meeting with Mike at our house when he estimated our weight and charges, to coordinating the dates with Dayan and her staff, to the day the ladies arrived for packing, and then Latif (Lucky)'s experienced and capable job of leading the pick up and delivery of our belongings to our new home in NC. It was a success from beginning to end. To be specific ~ OUR PACKING DAY with Mary, Nicole and the other two ladies was effortless. They arrived on time, worked hard, were well-organized, courteous and did an excellent job. I just unpacked the second to last box and haven't found a single thing broken in a large household move at this point. Great job ladies. The next day the LOADING CREW arrived with Latif (Lucky), Curtis, Alex and Johnny. When I learned that the overall crew leader (and driver)'s name was "Lucky" I had to smile at the good omen! Lucky was skilled, energetic, helpful (to us), organized, courteous, and we were amazed at how quickly they loaded up the whole house. They were not only careful with the belongings we were moving, but with the house itself by protecting floors and doorways. All of the crew worked tirelessly (as it seemed to us), they were courteous, hardworking and efficient. Thumbs up to the whole crew! The following Tuesday (June 26th) our belongings arrived at our new home in the Asheville, NC area. Lucky, Kerim and Bugra arrived on time and did an excellent job OFF-LOADING our furnishings and placing them where we needed them in the house. This move involved a garage at each side of the new house which made furniture/box placement even more difficult for them but the whole crew followed our placement requests with the utmost courtesy and skill. . . and even with a smile on their faces. Outstanding job done by the crew! We were delighted with the outcome o our move from beginning to end. Hiring a mover is not an inexpensive part of a relocation and we got the level of customer service, the efficiency of accounting for our belongings, and quality of work (protection of our goods) that we would expect for the investment. Our thanks and gratitude is extended to everyone involved.

The service was not as good as I thought it would be. The owner did a walk trough the house two days before moving date to determine the necessary space and personal. However, the truck was to small to accommodate all items. Thus, I had to spend another $375 in addition to the $1,870 I had to pay for the moving company which was hired by Baymeadows to complete the job a few days later. Furthermore with only three packers it took about 10.5 hours to load the truck. The number of workers Baymeadows owner recommended was insufficient also. Lastly the truck driver promised to come back Monday, 12/31/2012 to pick up the items which were left behind. I waited at the vacant house from 8am to 3pm and no one showed up. That's really bad service. I am disappointed and even more frustrated and would never use this company again. This has been the worst moving experience I have ever made.

Overall, the experience was very good. They also packed a garbage basket full of paper garbage too. No big deal, but I advise that you more closely supervise the two young ladies who come by to do the wrapping of the kitchen and other small stuff. On the morning of the move, their truck broke down, so we had to wait for a smaller truck to arrive in the late afternoon, around 4pm, and pick up our stuff. They brought it to their warehouse where it was to be transferred to the interstate moving van (they belong to a very reliable group, an interstate company who have great feedback...I researched them thoroughly beforehand). We decided to drive up from Florida to New York and Dayan from Baymeadows called us during our trip to coordinate the arrival date with the trucker, so that we would get there before the truck arrived. Well, they arrived within the move-in window and unpacked the major pieces and moved them into place. A couple of pieces were damaged in the move--a table and a standing lamp. We took out full insurance so they covered it and arranged for the repair of one and cut the check for the other relatively quickly and without much hassle. I recommend taking out insurance with a low or no deductible. Prior to the move, we researched severals companies. Some lowballed us, another came for an estimate and just assumed we would engage them without giving us a written estimate--after several calls they quoted us a higher figure than Baymeadows did. Another company didn't even bother to call back! The weight estimate was very accurate and the cost quoted was very accurate. The owner and his son were good folks and gave us boxes for free to get us started beforehand. Baymeadows is a great company and our moving experience was reliable, reasonably priced and quite manageable.

It was great. They seemed to be very professional, but we got a better quote from another company and went with them. They were actually the best people and their mannerisms were great. We would have actually gone with Baymeadows because they had both moving and storage. One reason we didn't go with them was because their storage facility was too far from our house and the price point was high, but they were our second best option. They're actually a great company. They were pretty quick and the turnaround was good. They were punctual and came in the morning and by the next day I had a quote in my hand.

The movers that came to pack and move my belongings to storage were very competent and helpful to me. They were also efficient with the time it took to prepare my things for moving. They brought me some used boxes from their company to give to me at no charge. I felt at ease after being around them for a short time. My move went very smoothly and ended in the 3 hour time frame that had been projected from their office staff based on my description of the things to be moved.

Great work on a complicated job.

They workers showed up early and did a walk through. They were very professional and pleasant to deal with. I have an old upright arcade machine which is a back breaker to move, its well over 300 lbs and with the new apartment, more than a pain to lift up the stairs. They easily moved it and other more bulky and awkward furniture. Definitely when we move again, we will be using this company and would gladly tell, rather have told several about the movers and company.

Move went very well. Both packers and movers were very courteous and professional throughout entire move. The reason for the "B" grade was that the actual price charged was ~$1,000 higher than the estimate. The salesperson led us to believe that the bulk of packing materials would be recycled boxes which were brought to us in advance. He "estimated" $200 for new materials which proved to be about 1/4 of what we needed to purchase from them. Great company, but be prepared to spend more on packing if you go that route.
