+ -1 moreThis was not the norm because most tried to sell us a quick fix air conditioning system with a longevity of about ten years. This new system should last up to twenty five years. We also received a lovely rebate for $500 from Linux directly about a month after the installation. Our power bill has also dropped significantly. We also received a $350 credit from Florida Power and did not have to pay our last months power bill. Dan was extremely helpful. He was quite informative. He took the old system and disposed of it and installed a new one within twenty four hours. I would recommend them for service, even though I am confident that I will not need it. I would highly recommend their services to anyone. I would give them a plus across the board they could not have done better.

+ -1 moreCrew arrived at 8:45 am and work started immediately to get the existing roof unit ready for removal. The crane service arrived at 9:30 am and promptly removed the old existing roof unit and hoisted the new unit for installation. This work was done in less than 15 minutes. Dunedin Refrigeration did a very good job in removing the old air handler located in the attic and even repaired some of the duct work after the old air handler was removed at no extra charge. I had two additional air vents installed, as well, which meant they had to cut into the linen closet wall and installed return vents on each side. The work was done in a few hours and Ray and Jared worked great together getting the new unit installed. They cleaned the work areas afterwards and took the old units for proper disposal. I am very happy with the results and have an efficient and quiet running air-conditioning unit. I would definitely recommend them. Everyone was very professional - from the estimate through to the installation.
Description of Work: Dunedin Refrigeration installed a new roof compresser and replaced the pancake air handler in the attic and cut drywall to install two new air vents.

+ -1 moreI called someone I know who works in the business for a second opinion. Although he confirmed that the compressor was not working, he did not find that it was internally grounded at all. Furthermore there was no characteristic smell when he tapped the freon line. In his opinion, the compressor had locked up which would eliminate the need for a condenser flush ($200 or so in costs). I hired this individual to do the compressor replacement for about $800 less that Dunedin Refrigeration quoted for compressor replacement. This savings includes a coil flush as a precaution. My problem with the service is simply that much more focus is given to selling a whole new system than repairing the old one and trying to be competitive on the repair. It's deceptive and not very ethical.
Description of Work: Circuit breaker was tripping on outside AC unit. Called Dunedin Refrigeration to service. They arrived promptly and quickly diagnosed the problem as "an internally grounded compressor", needing replacement and condenser coil cleaning if replaced. Cost: $2500 to replace. The technician advised the best solution to be getting a new system. The sales representative came out 2 days later and quoted around $6000 for new Lennox system.

+ -1 moreThe water from our A/C drain was backing up and we had to use a container to catch the overflow in the garage....and empty it every few hours...NOT EASY. Two A/C companies immediately told us we need a new unit and quoted us accordingly. When the gentleman from Dunedin A/C came... he inspected the unit.... grabbed our hose and cleaned out one of the pipes. The unit started draining and we no longer had to deal with the water mess and were able to go on our vacation without worry. We do need a new unit soon....and really appreciated the service guy buying us some time and cleaning the pip,e which the other two didn't even mention. We will DEFINITELY use Dunedin A/C when purchasing and installing a new unit.... just because he was so knowledgeable and honest...and didn't even charge us. I recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Water was backing up in the drain pipe in the garage. Serviceman came and cleaned out the outdoor pipe with a high pressure hose... and fixed our problem.

+ -1 moreAir Conditioner stopped working on a Friday night...had a Saturday emergency service call..needed new fan motor...would be ordered and installed Monday. Called monday morning and confirmed planned install...by mid day Monday called again and was told they could set me up for install tomorrow morning (Tuesday)...now have been with out AC for almost three full days of 90+ weather. Finally got agreement from them to come out Monday afternoon...as far as I can tell work was done properly...my displeasure with this experience is related to their lack of concern for my situation (no AC for 3 days)...and every call to them I was told how busy they were...glad for them that business is good, but if they can't handle the work they shouldn't accept it....this is my first negative report on Angie's list...

Description of Work: Our AC went out on a Saturday night. The weather was decent so we didn't call anyone until Monday morning. I called 3 companies about getting a new system. Marianne at Dunedin Refrigeration was the only one to suggest that she send someone over asap to see if he could get the system running. He was over in 30 minutes and had the system running within the hour. Turns out it was the thermostat. We told Marianne to come over anyway because we were thinking of replacing the system to get the tax credit. She came over before noon of that day and gave us all the info we needed- including information about air purification systems. We agreed on the system and scheduled installation for the next Monday. Everything went like clockwork. The team was very professional. My husband wanted the airhandler taken out of the attic and put on the back wall of the garage. They took care of all of that as well as adding a return in a bedroom where they felt the existing return was inadequate. We were very pleased with the way everything was handled. When the city inspector came out his comment was that he wished all of the airconditioners were installed by Dunedin Refrigeration. Then he said that he guessed his job would be boring if that were the case. I have recommended them to several friends and feel confident in doing so.

The lower floor unit was not cycling correctly; I called Dunedin Refrigeration because the reports given on Angie's List seemed consistently good. Technician arrived on time and was very efficient in going about his work. He diagnosed the trouble with the lower floor unit and replaced the bad relay under warranty.
Description of Work: Checked and tuned up two AC units in a townhome we just purchased in Tarpon Springs. This included replacing a relay that was not working correctly (part under warranty).

+ -1 moreI cannot recommend Dunedin Refrigeration more highly. This is a family owned business with all its own workers. Everyone from the owners, to the office staff, to the installers is professional and courteous. The owners, Marianne and Mike Bowman, recommended a new Carrier system. It was a two-day installation in the hottest of weather. Because my old system had totally broken down, Marianne and Mike found a way to move me up on their full schedule. The installers, Ray and Mason, worked in a super-heated attic and out in the sun, efficiently and thoroughly, explaining everything I needed to know as they proceeded. The city inspected the work within two days and signed off on the permit. Then, Dunedin Refrigeration sent in their own follow-up tech, Terry, who looked at the installation and recommended the installation of another return vent and some different ducting. When I asked the cost, he said "nothing additional;" it's part of the installation. That work was completed on July 13th by Jarrod and Chris and the system is functioning beautifully. It was done quickly, efficiently and neatly. If you are looking to install a new AC/heating unit, use this firm!
Description of Work: My 17 year old AC/heat system finally gave out in late June. Fortunately, I had gotten three estimates for replacing it. Dunedin Refrigeration won on all fronts.

+ -1 moreCompany was very responsive and able to schedule my appointment to fit my schedule. The technician, Peter, arrived on time. He was working in my non-air conditioned garage where it was very hot and very humid. He was very thorough in his inspection of my air handler. He diagnosed the problem, returned to the shop for parts, returned and replaced the plugged drain line. He also inspected and performed some maintenance on pump. Not only did he clean up after himself but he cleaned up after me! I am very impressed with both the company and Peter and wouldn't hesitate to recommend both.
Description of Work: Diagnosed reason for drip from air handler, replaced plugged drain line, installed float switch, and cleaned pump.

They had the best quality for the best price. All other competitors were offering the same model for $2000 more, but I felt their price was good. They did a good job; they were quick and explained every thing. The owner of the company came to check the building, then the city inspector came and they passed in everything, so I guess they knew everything about what they were doing.
Description of Work: I had the central carrier system for my air conditioner put in by Dunedin Refrigeration.
