AMI Air Conditioning

Out of town family coming in for the holidays when air conditioner stopped blowing cold air. Service tech arrived when he said he would, assessed the problem, and gave estimate before work started. Unit replaced quickly before all my company arrived.

Overall it went very well. At 9pm on Saturday night of Labor Day Weekend, I became aware of a leak of water gushing from the pipes of the A/C unit, dripping onto the water heater below, filling the drainage overflow pan and threatening serious consequences. I called the office number, left a voice message, and within about 15 mins. received a callback from technician Dan who was oncall at the time. He advised me to turn the A/C system off to stem the leak, and came to my apartment 12 hours later the next morning to address the problem. He cut a pipe, cleared an obstruction blocking proper drainage, and made the reconnection. Also he discussed with me options to consider for preventing recurrence of the cause of the leak. There is a premium to be paid for service after hours, on weekends and especially on holidays, but it is a reasonable expense in exchange for rapid response in time of need, with top-quality professional service. Dan was courteous, helpful, professional, and responsive in the way that only first-rate service providers are. I plan to consult with this company again regarding additional HVAC needs, and recommend them without reservation.

My A/C unit was leaking so when I called I wanted someone to come in that same day. The operator was very accomodating about my schedule and sent someone over my place within a couple of hours of my call. The service person, Adam, was very courteous and professional, and answered my questions every step of the way while he performed the services. The work took approximately an hour and he cleaned up afterwards so there was no big mess. The job was simply to vaccum the gunk out of the drain line and pipes to stop the water from overflowing out of the pan. Adam explained what he was doing and provided maitenance tips to keep the A/C running properly long term. I would definitely recommend and use AMI Air conditioning again with any future A/C needs.

I sent AMI a email late Sunday requesting help. They contacted us within a few hours and arrived the following morning. The service tech was professional and diagnosed the problem quickly and quoted a fair price. He performed the work and and we were up and running again We were so impressed wiyh the service we purchased a 1 year service agreement with them. I give them a high recommendation.

The workers arrived in the morning in the middle of a rainy day. They immediately got to work removing the old hardware. They then noticed an issue with the flooring once the air handler was out of the closet - due to a leak from the old handler. They were able to determine that the sub-floor was good and laid new plywood down. The air vent grill that was ordered was not the correct size, so they informed us that they would re-order it and come back to install it. They sealed some cracks in the closet and were able to finish the installation by 5pm. They cleaned up after themselves and made sure they left the house as they found it. After they left, we realized that they had installed a regular thermostat instead of a programmable one. A call the next day and we scheduled an appointment to have the programmable thermostat installed and the air vent grill. They also scheduled the city inspector to come out and sign off on the installation. All is well, the system is performing wonderfully and our electric bill is already less! A few weeks after the install, we received a nice gift from them - a tin of cookies. I am very happy with the experience and would use them again.

This is a father-and-son owned business. I’ve worked with them for a long time; they know me in the office and they’ve been incredibly responsive anytime I’ve called. They know their business and their prices are comparable to others. They always follow up prior to a technician showing up to my home, and they’ve been great to work with overall!

This is the Best AC Company, I evaluated the top 10 different companies, after my evaluation I sellected AMI for several reasons, proffessionalism, openess of details, written estimate, completness, flexability, and price I chose an American Standard (Trane), because they offer a 10 year PARTS & LABOR Warrentee the best in the air conditioning bussiness and a very very GOOD PRICE. The work was done ontime and proffesionall. I cannot say enough about Corey and his staff

Their service rep came on time (and they called before to confirm that he was on his way, as they said they would). He was prompt, professional, and even accommodating as I pestered him with questions on my system and watched him work. He was very thorough, going above and beyond merely addressing the obvious problem. He remedied some other minor problems, things other service men from other companies didn't even bother with on previous calls. In all he spent over 2 Overall, I thought their service was honest, very professional, reasonably priced, and courteous. I was impressed and honestly relieved --I've had some dealings with other companies that left me feeling that I had been taken advantage of and I was wary at the start. That's actually why I joined Angie's List before arranging for service with any company. I'd use them again and actually recommended them to my mother when she experienced some issues with her AC unit. hours working on the problems and making sure that he had fixed the problem.

The A/C went out in the evening. Next morning, I went to Angie's List and checked out potential servicers, settling on AMI due to the substantial number of excellent reviews. I called at about 9:30. I was told it would be a couple of hours -- and it was just about exactly two hours. Adam was very pleasant and guessed that the problem was the capacitor -- which it turned out to be -- the least expensive of all the possible repairs. He also checked the compressor and rinsed off the grates. Instead of paying hundreds of dollars (or being told I needed a new unit!) I ended up with a very reasonable bill. I will definitely call AMI again when I DO need a new unit, probably in 4 years or so.

We purchased our mid century era condo on the beach roughly a year ago. From day one we had issues with our AC air handler and its drain, neither of which were ever mentioned by the home inspector or previous owner. We knew the system was old but had no idea how bad it was. Several recommended AC companies provided by our building failed to ever correctly figure out or solve the problem. But that's another story. So fast forward, we sought out our own AC company and found Dennis at AMI here on Angie's list. From all the high marks and reviews they were given, we had good reason to choose them for this unusual job. They did not disappoint! They were great to work with. There were many technical variables to replacing our system, including getting the drainage problem resolved, figuring the correct coil size needed, water flow to the unit, etc. All that on top of working with a building management that can at times be challenging to deal with. To AMI's credit, they hung in there and got the job done, on time and for the price quoted. We've found from other trades we've used in our place that you don't always get the craftsmanship, quality or attention to detail that you will get from AMI. They do not cut corners. We got what we paid for and are very satisfied. If you want a local family run business that is honest and hard working, you absolutely will not be disappointed.

It was a great experience. They protected the area around the air handler and cleaned up after the work was competed. We did not have to do any cleaning. The A/C/ performance was carefully checked after the work was completed and no problems were found. If we need to replace our A/C system (due to age, it is quite old) we will certainly ask them for a quote.

My a/c unexpectedly went out of commission on a Sunday afternoon. I emailed & left messages for two vendors from Angie's List. Only Adam from AMI called me back on Sunday afternoon and let me know he could schedule a visit the same day. I asked him his rates and let him know what the issues were with my a/c. He gave me a general estimate. I opted to wait until Monday to save a bit on the minimum charge (weekday 75 vs. 150 for Sunday.) As Adam recommended I called Toni on Monday morning and left a message. I also left a message for the other vendor. Toni called me back first. She was very helpful and professional. She scheduled me for the first call of the day since my a/c wasn't working at all. Adam arrived, quickly diagnosed and solved the issue. He patiently answered all my questions. Other than not having a/c for a bit, the experience was painless. It was great working with this team. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Our 20 year old air conditioner needed to be replaced. It was clearly struggling, as were we with allergies caused by an excessive dust problem of unknown origin. We called five companies to quote us, and although they were not the cheapest quote (yet extremely competitive) we settled on AMI because they gave the most honest advice and did not try to up sell or oversell us.Dennis offered us options, but did not pressure us to go with the most expensive (in fact the opposite). The rest is history - AMI took care of everything from the permits to the FPL rebate! The technicians were prompt, polite and professional. The job was complete in a day, and in the process they discovered and fixed a gaping hole that turned out to be the source of our dust problem! The result:: wonderful cool air, no more dust and allergies, and a $70 drop in our next electric bill!! We are delighted and will continue to use and highly recommend AMI. And the final touch : a delivery of delicious cookies to thank us for our business!

We purchased a home in need of extensive work and signed up for Angie's List first think. We needed a complete a/c system and found AMI's reviews attractive, so we called the owner, Dennis and scheduled an appointment, which he arrived on time and ready. The rest is history. We are so glad we went with AMI after obtaining various estimates. We just got a good feel for Dennis and his team. It's family owned and it shows, always returned our calls and provided good advice and recommendations. His team of professionals are phenomenal!!!! No headaches, no worries and everything was done on schedule. At the time we chose the company, their price was middle of the road...now we know better. It was perfect. The customer service they provided for the price quoted was worth every penny. They have been the only calm in the storm we are facing during our remodeling. Thank you to the team and Dennis for everything. It is appreciated, more then you know. We will use them again and recommend them highly to friends and family.

The owner came to my home promptly when I asked for a XXXXXXXX. Three options were offered and I chose the third because of my understanding of how the system worked. It dehumidifies the air - we maintain it at 48% which keeps the house cooler than a regular air conditioner. Because of the first stage of dehumidifying, the air cooler or stage 2 does not have to run as often therefore our electricity bill should be lower, while our comfort level is extraordinary. The system is very quiet which was also important to us. We could not be more pleased. The company's staff is professional, friendly and very responsive and informative with information. The installation was not easy given the room for the air handler in the garage, but they did a good job. The owner visited during installation to ensure we were satisfied with the installation thus far. We were. I strongly encourage you to use Angie's List for your selection of vendors. And pay close attention to how the contractor follows-up when things go wrong.

I chose this company because I read good reviews. But like any other AC company they work by the book and charge by the book. I usually use an AC guy I trust and who never charges me if he cannot help me. But since he was out of town and would only be back in 10 days I decided to get this company to come and fix my problem. My AC roof unit died. The compressor was out. The technician tried to restart it. He said it might be the capacitor since the one I had was very old. So he replaced the capacitor still didnt worked. He jump started my compressor, nothing. End of story. I need a new AC system. He charged me $ 193.00. He said he could put back the old capacitor and just charge me $ 150.00. I took the chance and kept the new one in place "in the hopes" that in case my compressor would start at a later time after it cooled down.I thought $ 193.00 was a little too much for not resolving the problem at all!!! Ok I get they charge by visit and by hour. But still.....you dont deliver dont charge so much. I think that is only fair~ or charge just the visit.

A.M.I. Is probably the best service company I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. It is family owned and every single person I dealt with was so professional, courteous and kind. Dennis came out to do our quote and covered every single annoying question I had. The installers, Dan and Robbie, could not have been nicer or any better at installing a unit? They removed my unit from an elevated platform in the garage and placed the new one on the floor. The ductwork was perfection and they worked late so that I would not have to spend the night without air! Toni always calls to let you know exactly when the workers will arrive. Corey came and worked on my awesome thermostat. I still cannot get over how pleased I am with this company. If all companies put their customers first like this one, dealing with house stuff would be so much easier for all of us. I agree with the person in the other review that said integrity was a word that came to mind--so true. Thanks Dennis, Toni, Corey, Dan and Robbie for a job well done. I look forward to having you service my A/C as well.

AWESOME Company!!! Honesty, Integrity, and Professionalism are the first adjectives that come to mind when I think about them. To start, I read reviews from a LOT of the companies on Angie's List. I was most impressed by what others had to say about AMI, so I gave them a call. Toni answered and was very thorough and straight forward in explaining to me what I should expect as far as potential costs. I told her I needed someone who knew wiring inside and out. She immediately said, "Then I'll get Corey for you!" This is a small, family company, that really cares about the quality of their work and their reputation. That, by the way, was an important factor in my choosing this company. Sometimes large companies can't do the quality control necessary when dealing with a large number of technicians. Corey, the son of the owner, grew up learning from his dad. He REALLY knows his job inside out. Here is why I say this: My renter's AC stopped working on a Sunday while I was out of town. I called someone who has worked for me before and will come on a moment's notice for just $35. I figured he could assess the problem so I would know how to proceed. He told me that the wiring had gone bad (from the unit to the breaker box) and that he would have to hire someone to go up into the attic and run a new electrical line. He gave me an estimate of $300-$400. He suggested that it was a LOW voltage problem. Since I don't trust this person's wiring abilities, I told him I would get back to him on Monday. My renter said she knew someone who had done work for her before and that she trusted. She called him. Her person was Gregg, the owner of Supa Air and Heat (2830 NW 208 St. Miami Gardens). Gregg came out to the property and I talked to him on the phone. He said the unit was old and that the compressor was tripping the breaker. (It is, and it was.) and that I would need a whole new unit for $3200. He told me he could put it in on Monday. His diagnosis was a HIGH Voltage Problem. With two completely different diagnoses, I was skeptical of both companies. When my son, who is an AC technician in Orlando, questioned him about voltage readings, he was sketchy, so we told him we'd call him back on Monday. My son actually drove to Ft. Lauderdale to RESCUE me. It was the middle of the night, but by flashlight, it was clear that someone had been messing with the wiring on the outside unit and hadn't put it back right. (It had been mis-wired) When we went inside the house we discovered that Gregg from Supa Air had pulled out the thermostat and taken it home with him!!!! There were BARE WIRES where the thermostat had been! That made us suspect that Supa Air had purposely (or stupidly) messed up the wiring. By testing voltage, my son was able to determine that the unit could be fixed and the fan would run if the wiring could be put back right and the thermostat was put back. On Monday we called Gregg at Supa Air and asked him to bring back the thermostat and put it back on the wall. Gregg said, "I only have the base (which wasn't true) and I'm not going to drive all the way over there to put it back on. I'll put it in the mail to you." That wasn't acceptable, since the AC won't work without it, and it's not fair to my renter. We told him that his diagnosis was incorrect and that we felt it was fair that he return the thermostat that day and return the $65 that he charged to mis-diagnose the problem. He said he wasn't going to do it, that he was too busy, and he didn't care about his reputation on Angie's list. (As a last resort I had suggested that he might want to protect his reputation). I chalked the situation up as one more lesson learned, bought a new thermostat, installed it myself, and vowed to never hire another contractor without checking their reputation on Angie's list again. I am so happy to have found AMI, and to know that I won't be cheated by an AC person again. I HIGHLY recommend that you choose this company. Their prices are FAIR, they do things RIGHT, they CARE about their reputation, and you will save money and aggravation in the long run.

Overall it was better then I expected- I will definitely call this company if I have another problem with my air conditioner.

I had a very good impression of the company from Corey who came to see my old unit, and Toni at the office, who I spoke to several times. The good impression continued when the two installers, Dan and Robbie, showed up to do the work. They were both courteous, professional and personable. They took great care and pride in their work, and I could see from what they were doing, things that had not been done right on the previous installation. I would highly recommend AMI to anyone. If these folks ever get tired of working with a/c, they should seriously consider giving Customer Service seminars. They are over the top in customer care. They do excellent work and follow up afterwards to be sure everything is A-OK and the customer is happy.

OVERALL THIS WAS A PLEASANT EXPIERENCE

I called AMI to get an estimate to replace our A/C, and they had someone come out the next day. Corey explained to me what my options were and what the costs would be including what was required by city code. I told him I was looking for the least expensive option, and he did not try to upsell me on something more expensive. When I called back to hire them to do the job, I was told they would need to pull the permits and we scheduled a day for them to come out. Dennis said if I was in a hurry he'd try to get the permits even sooner. Though that wasn't necessary, I appreciated the offer. Toni gave me a call to let me know when the guys were on their way out to do the work. They showed up on time, installed the new A/C, replaced the broken concrete slab on the outside and installed a new thermostat. They left everything clean and tidy. Afterwards I called Toni and she arranged for the city to complete their inspection. Of all the home service companies we've worked with, I'd say AMI was the best. They were prompt, courteous, thorough and responsive to any concerns we had. I will be recommending them to anyone who needs their A/C replaced or repaired. Thank you AMI!

The serviceman came on time, was polite, and professional. AMI was currently running a promo for the check up. The serviceman did need to remove excess freon from my unit to get it to run more effiiciently. Other than that, the service went as expected. I was delighted to have someone show up on time and not rip me off! A double bonus in Miami!
