Description of Work: They replaced my air conditioning unit. I was very satisfied with the work they did. I did a lot of research prior to hiring them and found their prices very competitive. I had also received positive feedback from a neighbor who had used their services. They came in and did the work very efficiently. They cleaned up well and I have had no problems since.

Description of Work: On the coldest day in January to date, my gas heater stopped working. I called Hentkowski at 3:45 PM. I called them because they had installed my Carrier heater 11 years ago. They advised me that they could send a serviceman, but I would have to pay a higher service fee because it would be after hours. I agreed to pay $150 for a $80 service call. The serviceman arrived at 4:30 and quickly identified that the heater ignitor needed to be replaced. The ignitor is a small device that contains a coil that heats up and lights the gas. He was finished in less than 30 minutes and told me that he would also have to charge a higher price for the part because it was after hours. He billed me $423 which included $273 for the part. I was very pleased with the responsiveness and professionalism of the repairman. The next day I bought a replacement ignitor from a Carrier parts dealer, so that I could fix it myself if it failed again. I only paid $15 for the same part that Henkowski had charged me $273 for. That was quite a markup.

Description of Work: I had Hentowski install and start up a new HYBRID ac/heat pump/95% AFUE furnace. The unit is Carrier Perfomer series which replaces an old Carrier Tech 2000 system that has been in service for 19 years. I may mention trouble free. Hentowski had installed my previous system therefore had a favored position in the selection process. To date the new unit seems to be much quieter than the older unit and when running uses less energy, 8.3 amps vs 9.5 amps for the old unit. Both units are 3 ton ac capacity. The installation was trouble free and included chimney lining to service the hot water heater since the new furnace vents directly through the wall. The technicians who did the installation were knowlegeable, efficient, and considerate. I was without A/C for only a few hours during the second day. All work was performed on time and I had been given the flexability to move the schedule. Rebate programs were mentioned and some data given to take advantage of them. In all a positive experience thanks to Brian Roberts and the staff at Hentkowski. johnl

 + -1 moreThe sales representative arrived on schedule. He looked at the current system but did not do a survey of the house nor did he gather any data for a load calculation. He did do a rough sketch of the equipment layout. We discussed my needs and expectations and he said that he would supply a quote with a couple of options. We had a bit of a communication problem that resulted in a misunderstanding about his intentions. He didn't attach the quote to a short email that implied to me he was no longer interested in doing business with us without any explanation. Well that's computers for you, you can't always take email at face value because they are very easy to misinterpret. After a phone call he realized why I was upset and resent the quote. I also asked him why he didn't take the time to do an evaluation of the house and his repsonse was that he had installed systems into at least 20 homes of similar size and construction and based on this experience he didn't need to, a reasonable explanation I suppose. The bottom line, the quote was a little higher than others but still in the ball park. As of now we still haven't made our final decision. For me it is not just about price, it is about the equipment, warranty, expected level of service after the install and how well I connected with the contractor, which I know is a purely subjective but is important to me.
