Maritime had done all the landscaping for our new home which was quite considerable. The over quality and professionalism was okay, but not great... Good enough to rehire them to do a small ($13,800) addition since they knew which pavers were to be used, that sort of thing. Easier than finding a new landscaper to do the work. Patrick Olsen, the president, claimed that the proposed work did not comply with county codes and, because he was taking a professional risk, we would need to pay him in advance. Foolishly, we did. When the time came to do the work, Olsen first claimed that his attorney told him that he shouldn't do it because of his legal risks. We said okay, just return the payment. Only then did he confess that he'd spent the money and lacked the funds to do the contracted work. We've had to litigate to try to recapture the funds advanced to Maritime and have not yet received full payment. Eventually, we turned to another landscaper, only to discover that the work was permitted by the county after all. We can't help but wonder if Olsen knew that all along. All in all, a complete disaster--stay away from Maritime and Olsen.
