We are very satisfied with the products and service provided. Tilahun ('T') was very patient and congenial, but businesslike, when he came over to provide estimate of work cost. The first time he came out to provide quote was very soon after we made initial phone contact and request for estimated charge. 'T' actually met with us a couple of times prior to our agreement to have the work performed, as additional measurements were needed to prepare bars for windows for which we initially were undecided. He had lots of digital photos to show of various types of security bar installations Abay had performed. He was prompt in supplying the quote for work requested, and likewise to supply adjustment of that quote when we needed to make change to the type of bars desired for a couple of our windows. The work team from Abay was very prompt in arrival and start of work on the day scheduled. And the installation of bars was performed well within the time frame we'd been advised to expect. They even kindly took care of an additional detail that we had requested. As I understand, the cost of installing iron bars is not an inexpensive venture. However, we think we got a very fair price from Abay. We were very impressed with 'T' and team from Bay Iron and Metal Works, and would highly recommend them to anyone seeking such work.

Tilahun, the owner of Abay Iron Works, came out promptly when we first called to ask for an estimate. He provided his estimate within a day. He answered many questions and gave advice on what would work best for our situation. His website and additional pictures he provided were very helpful for assessing the quality of his work and for deciding on what style of railing we wanted. The work was done very quickly and professionally, and Tilahun was on site while most of it was being done (he has 2 other people working for him). The final result looks great. If we have more work in the future, we will definitely use Tilahun again, and will happily refer him to others.

Tilahun did an outstanding job. He is professional and accommodating. The quality of his end-product was outstanding. T came onsite to assess the job, and used his iPad to show me his previous work and designs to consider for the metalwork. I liked the fact that he was well structured and able to show me his prior work during our first meeting onsite. After supplying a competitive bid, T came back to take more detailed measurements (we had to wait for my porch stone to be installed and T was patient during that process), brainstormed a slightly challenging area of my interior stairs that might have caused an issue, and began production. Production was fast (a week or so) and install was also fast and complete (one day for my job). I've seen other metalworkers (different house I worked on) return multiple times to do lots of little fixes, T got it right the first time. T also did the painting and made sure to ask me if I had any color preference for my interior rail, and he used the precise Sherwin Williams color I asked for and the paint job is great. There was one decorative element on the exterior gate that I had not approved, and T met me to discuss an alternate option, and made the change onsite immediately - and the gate is exactly what I like now (a modern look matches the house). I would use T again, and have already recommended him to my neighbors (friends), and hope to have him do some tree boxes on my street. Thanks T and Abay for a great metal job! Joe

T was a true professional in everything he did for us. He was very responsive, worked quickly and efficiently and his prices were reasonable and reflect the quality of work that he provides. I couldn't have asked for anything more from him and would highly recommend him.

I am ecstatic regarding the results of this project and cannot speak highly enough about Abay. T provided me with estimates for several possible scenarios with accompanying pictures and excellent descriptions. I made a downpayment on 6/26/2014 and the job was completed with by 6/30/2014. The quality of the workmanship is excellent and it has added substantial curb appeal to my property. T and his crew have exhibited the highest level of professionalism and craftmanship. For quality ironwork, Abay cannot be beaten and the price and quality of service are without parallel. I would not hesitate to suggest Abay Iron with the highest possible recommendation. I have now contracted with T to undertake a substantially larger job and will update this review in the naer future.

Mr. Wendafresh replied promptly, gave a clear quote, set up a time, was prompt and got the work done. The mesh and box setups are great, and our downstairs roommates appreciated their communication about the work!

T provided excellent service. His bid came in lower than others who gave quotes, and he promptly showed up right when he said he would. He even went beyond what he had quoted in kindly removing an old lock and installing a new lock for us - something that was beyond his scope of work but that he did free of charge. After the new mesh was installed, the door was sticking a little bit, but T came right back over with a helper, assessed the problem, and fixed it (an un-related screw had come loose.) There was no charge for his 'service' call even though the problem was unrelated to his work. Our security gate is painted an unusual dark green, and T matched the paint for the new door components. Overall excellent work and a great guy!

T and his team showed up on time and got the job done in a timely manner. They kept the space clean and cleaned up after they were finished. When they were completed they offered to paint the stairs for a very fair price. I am very happy with the results and would use T and Abay again. I would highly recommend using them for any welding project you may have.

I contacted T by email on a Monday. Heard from he on Tuesday. Got a quote by email and the job was completed by Friday. He was extremely professional and pleasant to work with. And the handrail is really beautiful. I have received many compliments on it. I have already recommended him to friends and would certainly hire him again to do any metalwork needed.

I absolutely and completely recommend Abay Ironworks. T, the owner, responded same-day to my initial call. He also came to our house that same day. And he completed the work the next day, which required him to spend the entire day outside welding materials during the frigid cold. His prices were reasonable. His professionalism was great. And the quality of the work was top notch.

Tilahun was extremely anxious to see that we were pleased with the proposed railings. And we are! He fulfilled all the qualities of professionalism and we have a finely curved set of railings that work beautifully and delight the eye! Working with him was an experience of a job well planned, well executed---and with a very polite craftsman. (A rare experience!)

T was incredibly responsive. He came out the same day as I called him to review the project. His proposal was jus as quick. We set up a date and he completed the project on time. We have received multiple complements on his work. We are goin to use him again for a project in our backyard. I cannot reccomend him enough.

We need security doors (front & back sliding door), safety rail, security bars on windows, and repair of one security door. T and his crew were amazing. I called him on a Friday afternoon, he called back right away, was at our house on Sat to measure, provided quote on Tuesday, was at the house on Wed to answer my question about a change to the front door. What was great was that he had hundreds of pictures of the iron work they've done on his iPad, and it was so nice to see samples and talk through what I wanted, and he'd show an example of the work on his iPad. there was no second guessing. he said that the work would be done on Sat. however, one of his guys called in sick & the work couldn't be done. He promised me that even though they didn't work on Sundays, he said that he would be there to install the bars. And on Sunday, he and his crew were there. T is the utmost professional, courteous, on time and within budget. plan to use him again to install a two more safety rails and a handrail in a couple months.

"T" did an exceptional job and was very professional! We called on Wednesday and he came out promptly to provide a cost estimate for the installation of our hand rails. He was punctual, professional and very reasonably priced. He arrived right on schedule on Friday and installed and painted the rails within a few short hours. We are very, very pleased with his work. We will definitely call upon T again and are happy to recommend him highly to friends and other Angie's List members.

I emailed the owner with pic of my lock and what I needed. The owner responsed quickly and immediately set up the appointment for the next day with price. Next day, two workmen came and did the job right away. Straight forward and clean up after that. Would like to use this company again.

Recommended by a neighbor. Unlike my experience with a lot of competitors, it was an absolute pleasure dealing with Tilahun. He passed all my criteria: responsiveness, professionalism and punctuality. Initial contact: 7PM Wednesday. Installation completed: 10AM Thursday! I highly recommend him.

I called T to discuss the project, and he offered to come out the next day - a Saturday - to look at the project. He promptly gave us a very reasonable estimate, and when we called to tell him we'd like him to do the work, he offered to do it the next day. The work was completed within the day; he was very professional, and did great work, and was a pleasure to work with. Once I had come home from work and seen the work he had done, he came back over to pick up the check. He had mentioned a 5% discount for Angie's list customers, but I forgot that this had not been factored into the estimate, so I filled out the check for the full amount on the estimate, and gave it to him. Less than a minute later, there was a knock on the door, and T was there, letting me know that I'd overpaid, and forgotten to take off 5%! Really impressive! I would use him again on any further metal working projects that I have.

I needed to have a railing installed for my elderly parents to hold onto when they come for a visit. Mr. T was great from the very beginning. He was nice, professional, and prompt in getting papers for me to forward to my HOA. He was prompt in following up with me. He was on time the day of the work. He did not require a deposit from me ahead; nice to know he can trust his customers. There as Mr. T and his assistant. They both worked very hard and diligently in making sure the railing was placed according to what I wanted to fit the shape of the steps, they welded and sanded, etc. I would recommend this company to anyone who wants to have iron work done. My steps look beautiful. We have received a few compliments. YOU GO MR. T !!! Thank you, Sir!

Work required exacting standards and adjustments to the design that would further improve the approach. Craftsmanship thoughtfulness was evident throughout this interaction. This guy is good and aims to satisfy the customer not just near term with regards to appearance, but longer term with regards to structural integrity of work. I'd highly recommend this company; they are smart enough to know what they are and aren't capable of doing, and at the same time were the least expensive out of three Angies List-recommended vendors.

The company was totally professional -- polite, punctual, reasonable price. They arrived when they said they would and did the job in a timely manner. We asked them to return once to make the railing more steady. They did that. It is a pleasure to deal with people who know their job, are conscientious, polite and no hassles!

My experience was excellent. They came out to take measurements and gave me a few options of railings to choose from. They accomated to my schedule and were very prompt. They very neat and cleaned up well after themselves. They also were able to paint it white which is what I wanted.
