We were initially impressed by the computer graphics submitted to us, giving us a choice of roof styles that could be built. That was the last thing that impressed us. On the first day of work, the crew raided our garage for tools to remove the gravel from our roof, without our permission. They ruined several shovels and drove away with our big new garage broom. Although I talked to the foreman about this, on subsequent days the crew used and drove off with other tools. I had to label all of our tools with our name. We were reimbursed for some items but not all. Far, far worse, however, was the discovery last year (in 2008) that our garage wall was rotting away. We noticed paint flaking off and the vents popping out of the wood. A contractor found that the plywood that the White Mountain crew had installed ended several inches away from the bottom of the sloped roof, and much of the shingle installation was faulty. This meant that water was flowing down the roof into the gap above the wall and down into the wall. It appeared that when the plywood sheets didn't quite cover the roof, the crew was too lazy to cut an additional strip to finish the job. Also, the joint between the garage roof and the house was covered improperly, allowing water to leak in and rot portions of the wood siding on the house. It cost us thousands of dollars to have a contractor take away all of the rotted wall, siding, and roof sections, to completely rebuild and reshingle the roof and repair the other portions of the house and garage that had been damaged.
Description of Work: They were hired to add a peaked roof over the flat roof on our garage and to repair a portion of the garage floor that had broken and cracked.
