TJB designed and installed a pondless waterfall where a small fishpond had previously been located. The design was challenging owing to the small area available to accommodate the feature. But Ted and his crew came up with a very pleasing design. The sound from the waterfall is very pleasant and the waterfall can be viewed and enjoyed from a variety of locations both within the house and out in the yard. I love this addition to my yard! The work was completed quickly and the price was reasonable. I recommend this company and would use them again.

Ted’s consult appointment couldn’t have been more valuable. He’s extremely honest and knowledgeable, and I would recommend everyone had a consulting appointment with him before a big job - even if you plan to use a different company to do the actual work. He’ll help you know if you’re getting a fair price and answers any and all questions you have about your home. The consulting cost seemed like a lot initially, but considering the amount you’ll save in the long run and peace of mind knowing you’re paying a fair price - it pays for itself. I initially got a quote for double the price it’d actually cost, and Ted helped me understand that. He even gave me DIY costs for parts we could do ourselves if desired! It’s obvious his knowledge is from many years of experience. He gave us so much information in a clear and concise way - about drainage, landscaping, masonry options, even to the tiniest detail like a pin p**** mold spot on my house and what the cause was. Highly recommended!!

We've had a muddy yard and water seepage since we bought the house thirty+ years ago. We finally decided enough was enough and went looking for drainage experts. We found TJB, and we're glad we did. Ted was knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely professional. He recommended installing a system of underground drains and grading the yard so water would be directed away from the house. As others have noted, he sent us a variety of literature describing the techniques he was going to use. As an arborist, he also helped us figure out which of our trees needed to be removed. (TJB doesn't do tree work.) One thing I always watch for is how much the boss trusts his crew. Ted and his son were confident enough not to micromanage their employees. As a certified sidewalk supervisor, I tell you that their trust was justified. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend TJB.

Although we did not hire TJB to plant the trees, Ted provided us with some valuable information that the Emerald Green were not Deer Resistant and knew that our area had lots of deer so he suggested using the Green Giant variety instead. We would definitely at least request a quote from them for any future work.

The drainage consultation with Ted was very helpful. We have complicated drainage issues at the house and he was able to clearly explain how to implement an effective DIY system. Highly recommended!

Ted is an amazing guy who was able to explain in depth not only of any concerns and questions I had with my current property but also had very helpful suggestions that would help solve my issue. I am currently waiting to have builder address builders warranty coverage but will end up seeking Ted and his services

We've had disappointing results and customer service from our current lawn-care provider (they apply fertilizer and weed-control 5 or 6 times a year) and have begun looking for a new contractor. Found TJB on Angie's List and called to request an appointment. Ted responded promptly and then met with my husband and me for more than an hour, at no charge. He gave us a thorough, detailed, very helpful analysis of our lawn's situation as well as many suggestions for potential DIY as well as professional remedies. He's enthusiastic about his work, very personable, and extremely knowledgeable, and we would feel very comfortable working with him after our current situation has been resolved.

Ted is an expert and I wish I had called him first. He was very professional and knew exactly how to fix a drainage issue around our patio. His crew completed the work in a few hours and made it look as if very little work had been done by the time they left. The solution he crafted has been working very well. And he was the best on cost too, not trying to charge for things we didn't need, and only what it took to solve the issue. Very glad we called them!

I could not have been more pleased with Ted's visit. He provided a candid assessment of my situation and determined that topography and drainage concerns would not allow us to do what I hoped. He thoroughly explained the problems and never tried to sell me on expensive or unreasonable solutions. He gave me lots of advice and expertise on DIY lawn and landscaping options. He was exceptionally congenial, even showing great patience with the multiple interruptions of my four-year-old son and eight-year-old neighbor. He spent an hour with me, knowing in the first 15 minutes that there was no job for him. I would definitely call him again for work in the future.

It went very well. Crew was very professional and got the job done with minimal oversight from me. We brainstormed a solution that worked well for the site. When it rains now, the area does get saturated from surface water runoff, BUT now it completely drains out within a day or two. During the work, the crew chased water seepage from the hillside and found an underdrain pipe no one knew about... THEN connected it into the french drain system. I made several changes during the work and TJB was very nimble doing the extra work and was fair with the added costs.

I called to request a quote, and Ted, the Owner, and He immediately came out for an estimate on Wednesday (7-27-16) Not only was He very professional and knowledgeable as to the best way to accomplish the work I needed to have done, He gave me an approximate on the time required to do this work, and said his Son would be the person handling my call. I signed up for this to be done, and as fast as the following day-Rob came to the home with a huge cutting machine, and did a wonderful job for me. Rob along with his helpers were extremely polite, went above and beyond to make sure I was pleased with the work. I even had a post where I had a pool removed, and they took that as well. For the immediate attention I received, and the professionalism from the time I called to set up the estimate to the finished product, I Highly would Recommend TJB, Inc., on any project someone is planning. Although I am currently out of work at the present, once able, I will always use them on future projects. They are a full service Landscaping/Design Firm and are top shelf. Thank You TJB!

Upon calling for an estimate, Ted (The owner) came out to the house to provide ideas and multiple options regarding the backyard makeover. He provided a range of ideas at varying price points which helped us decide what would work best for our needs with the yard at this time as well as what would fit into our budget. At this first meeting he left without giving a formal estimate so my husband and I could process all the ideas he had provided. I called TJB back a day or two later with specifics about the work we had decided on and Ted and his son Rob, who would actually be doing the work, came out within a day or two to measure our yard and provided us with an estimate for the work. Their price was reasonable based on a couple other estimates I had already received for just a retaining wall and for a retaining wall and excavation. We went with TJB as I felt they were looking at the whole picture of the yard regarding grading the yard and drainage. Rob and the crew showed up as scheduled. Luckily we had relatively good weather during the projects duration. Everyone was professional , pleasant and answered any questions I had at any point during the project. They cleaned up the site each night. They made adjustments to the plan no problem. When I told Rob I wanted different steps for the wall he said no problem and called to order them right away. Same thing when we realized there wasn't as much soil from excavating as we thought . We had wanted to fill our front yard area that had sunk with the extra dirt from the back yard. Rob went and got topsoil and filled the front before seeding it late on their last day of work. Overall they did a great job and were easy to deal with. They also didn't mind being the entertainment for my 3 year old who was so excited to watch them work with "digger trucks" each day. The project took about 8 or 9 weekdays just as they had estimated. Now we have a beautiful level backyard with a great patio and grass that is starting to grow. Hopefully the grass will come in and the yard will not turn into a mud pit. We have a lot of trees and shade. I have to mention that at the initial meeting with Ted he did not hold back and said point blank we probably need more sun to have the grass grow well. We'll deal with sunlight in the future but for now even if the grass doesn't quite make it we will have a beautiful level mud pit with a great retaining wall! Thanks TJB.

Excellent Service! The pond is completely transformed! The guys are professional, courteous, and professional.

The service provided was his knowledge of the industry and tips to watch out for while doing the job myself. He gave me contractors to call for quotes on various forms of gravel driveways (loose gravel, chip and tar) and also informed me that one can rent skid-steers from Home Depot and Lowes. He advised on how to order stone from a quarry and what tools I may need to rent. If the job becomes too unwieldy for me I may hire his crew to come finish it off. I can't rave enough about how pleasant, knowledgable, and helpful Ted was. He is the T in TJB.

After numerous phone calls, voicemails & emails, the work has not yet been completed. First they had a big job, then it rained, then they had another big job, etc. Then they did a little bit here & a little bit there. Still not done. And we can never get a callback from them. Very unprofessional.

It all went well. The estimate was quick and reasonable. The work was done on schedule and the crew was very professional and accommodating. There were a few times when communication was slower than we would have liked, but nothing that got in the way of finishing the job.

We are first-time home owners, and our house has multiple areas of landscaping, sloping, and general overgrowth that had become out of control after a few years of neglect. We had reached out to TJB for consultation on mulching a certain area of the lawn. Before we knew it, our doorbell rang and Ted was here. He spent over an hour with us, walking our property and educating us on everything from grass seed to mulching to why there's so much moss in one area of our yard. We discussed leave management and building retaining walls. Ted was very generous with his knowledge, and freely educated us on how to do many of these projects ourselves. It was very empowering as a first-time home owner to know how to perk up our lawn, when to plant seed, etc. Ted was so informative, in fact, that we did all of our fall projects ourselves! While Ted may have lost a few hundred dollars by telling us how to manage our leaves ourselves, he gained lifelong customers because of it. We have big plans for our landscaping as we grow into our house, and know that TJB will be who we call.

It has been a couple of months and we have had some heavy rains and I have not has any issues since completing his recommendation.

They accomplished the job in one day as proposed and seeded all the bare spots that remained. I continue to contact them for further advice.
