Description of Work: Carl was very responsive and came out right away to give us an estimate. While he is clearly knowledgeable and thorough, his estimate was nearly double that of all other estimates we received for the same work. Ultimately, we could not justify the substantial additional cost just because I liked him and due the extremely high price, we went with a different contractor and are very happy with the final product.

Description of Work: We would like to take this opportunity to thanks and recommend Carl and his crew from GUARCO CONSTRUCTION DRIVEWAY PAVING. After calling several companies to request quotes for the replacement of our old and pitted driveway, Carl was one of the first to come over take measurements and deliver a professional quote. After that, the timing of the job & the communication from the staff was all spot on. The crew was great. The process and resulting new driveway were all as promised. We would highly recommend this company.

Description of Work: Guarco did an excellent job. They came sooner than expected which was good and they were done sooner than we expected which was great. They had to deal with an emotional neighbor, but showed excellent restraint and professionalism. They left the area around the job in excellent condition and the crew was friendiy and hardworking. I would recommend them without hesitation.

 + -1 morewe started looking paving contractors in June 2013. Narrowed it down to two and hired Guarco Construction. We asked for a few prior customers and were given addresses. Visited one home in West Hartford with a situation similar to ours. Were lucky enough to discuss the work done with homeowners. They were pleased with work done and cost. Our driveway was removed, re-surfaced and paved over course of 3 days in the hottest week of July. Heat index ~100 degrees all three days. Work was performed by owner, Carl, and 1 additional worker, Angel, on days 1 & 2. on the paving day a third worker was pulled in. In spite of the excessive heat, they put in full days. The existing driveway had been there from early 1960's. The driveway is narrow, slightly less than 10 feet and right up against the house. We were very impressed with the prep work, there was no damage to house, and the heavy equipment was crazy close <inches> to house. we were also impressed with the finished work the finished driveway has sufficient grade to allow rainwater to flow to street. the finished driveway also has a sufficient grade to permit water flowing away from house. the finished driveway is nicely paved. time will tell how good a job this was. I plan to report back next spring, with an update, but am happy to say right now I would not hesitate hiring Carl, GUARCO again.

 + -1 moreMr. Guarco was thoughtful and treated me with respect. He demonstrated a great deal of professionalism as I had a problem with water run-off. He removed the old driveway then engineered the site and added the appropriate amount of fill to rechannel the run-off. He graded the driveway and installed new asphalt. It came out beautiful and now I don't have to worry about water puddeling up in a low spot left by the previous contractor. My driveway looks beautiful. I highly recommmend Guarco Construction.

Description of Work: I normally do not write reviews, but I was very happy with the service (residential asphalt paving) and Carl (the owner) asked me to write a nice review online. So here it is, Carl and his company provided superior work at an honest price. The werent the cheapest, nor the most expensive, but the did a great job and cleaned up everything afterword. Highly Recomended!
