I had a Bad experience with DR Otsu and will not return to this office. I chose this office because of the good reviews I saw on Angies list and because they are in network with my insurance provider. I did not realize that the good reviews only referred to some of the doctors and nurses in this practice. I was diagnosed with Asthma and allergies as a toddler, almost 30 years ago. I have been to multiple specialists and did allergy shots for years. I know my body and have lived with asthma all my life. I recently relocated to a new area and didn't have a doctor. I was having trouble with asthma due to an allergic reaction. I called on Monday and was scheduled for Wednesday. When I made the appt, I told them that I have asthma and was having an acute reaction, but it wasn't an emergency. I also told them that I needed a new at home nebulizer machine and new prescriptions. They told me that it normally takes an hour for a new patient appt, unless I do skin testing, then it will be an hour and a half. I said that I'm already having an allergic reaction so I will not be able to do the skin testing. She said that was fine. I filled out all the paperwork online so they could review it ahead of time. They didn't. The nurse spent over a half hour going through all of my answers and correcting what she didn't think was right, even though she had never met me. She was super friendly but it was clear that she didn't trust any of my answers. She kept saying "since you took anti-histamines today we can't do any skin testing" like she was trying to catch me in a lie. Of course I took anti-histamines, I was having an allergic reaction that was effecting my asthma. That's why I was there. She kept going back to the skin testing even though I made it clear multiple times that I had taken anti-histamines and wouldn't be able to do it. She then had me to a breathing test. She left and said the DR would be right in. I waited another half hour. When the Doctor came in she went through my paperwork again. That took another half hour. She didn't trust my answers anymore than the nurse did. She wanted to do skin testing as well. I told her I was on anti-histamines and the tests would be a waste. She kept bringing it up. She left and about 10 minutes later a different nurse came in. She took me into the hall to do another breathing test. They told me that my insurance probably wouldn't cover it because it was new technology and I would likely be charged $31. They made me sign a form that I would pay for it if the insurance didn't. They didn't bother to tell me that they were actually doing the test to see if I have asthma. I then waited some more. The first nurse came back and gave me a neb treatment then redid the first breathing test. I waited for the doctor to return again. When she came back she showed me the results from the tests and diagnosed me with asthma. I told her that I was diagnosed 30 years ago and I knew I had asthma. I was there to get a prescription for a nebulizer and albuterol. Then she told me I needed to be on a controller medicine. I said I've have been on many of them and the side effects were more concerning to me than the occasional asthma attack. She would not let it go. She Kept trying to convince me that I had asthma even though I wasn't disputing it. I finally gave in and let her prescribe one just so we could move on to the reason I was there. She said she was going to refill my prescriptions and write me new ones for a nebulizer, a steroid for the current reaction, a daily antihistamine and a controller med. She then told me that I had to come back in 2 weeks to see how I was doing on the controller med and in 1 week for another test. She told me over and over again that I had to come back for both of those appts. I asked her what the test was. It was to diagnose me with asthma. I asked why I needed another test to see if I have asthma. She said "it's just one more thing to confirm it". She handed me a form that went over the prices (another $700 out of pocket to determine if I have asthma) and what meds I needed to avoid before the test. It specifically said I couldn't be on steroids for 2 weeks prior to the test. It also said I couldn't be on antihistamines for at least 48 hours beforet. I said, "how can I come back in a week to do a test that specifies I have to be off steroids, if you just gave me a prescription for steroids that I will be taking until that day?" I also brought up the fact that she told me to take a daily antihistamine. She didn't answer me. She acted like I was just being difficult and wanted to argue. I then asked her if she was going to print the nebulizer prescription. She ignored my questions. I just gave up the conversation because it was clear she wasn't listening to me anyway. She told me the first nurse would come back and talk to me and she left. The nurse came back and said that she sent all my prescriptions off to the pharmacy that I listed on my paperwork. I said that is fine except for the nebulizer machine. That one can't be filled by King Soopers. I have to take the form to the company my insurance instructed me to. She said she sent it to the people that they have a contract with. I asked her who it was. She didn't want to tell me. She said it wasn't a big deal because they have a contract with the company and they already faxed it over to them. I told her that I can only go through one company or my insurance wont pay for it. She said she thought it would be fine. I said that I needed to call my insurance to see if they would agree with her. She kept trying to blow it off. She finally said she would call my insurance for me to make sure that they didn't refuse to pay. She called them later that day and they told her they would not pay for it because they do not deal with the company this doctor has a contract with. They told her to fax it to the company that I told her I had to go through in the first place. I left their office after 2 and a half hours completely frustrated and still feeling horrible. They did not listen to me at all. I was diagnose with asthma repeatedly even though I was well aware that I had it. I have since received a large bill for their services. The only benefit was that I got my prescriptions refilled until I can find someone else to see.

Dr. Stewart was great. She is SO good with children, and she really helped my daughter to feel comfortable in a situation that was scary and unfamiliar to her. I also appreciate how well Dr. Stewart explained the process and course of treatment to me. As a new patient, I am very impressed with how early my daughter was able to be seen for the first time. The office has a nice waiting room with toys for the kiddos. The front-desk staff is friendly and quick. I am overall very happy with our experience at Dr. Stewart's office!
