+ -1 moreThe end result is we have a floor with dark edges everywhere and floor jambs with dark stain along the bottom, the base shoe they installed was very poorly installed--no mitered corners and very poor workmanship. They did not cut the holes properly for the floor vents or floor outlet. They left sloppy stain on our walls and floor jambs and millwork and base. The workers did not speak any English but they brought along their young son (approx. 10 years old) to translate into Spanish. I am sure this was illegal since the boy was there the entire time in the dust and smell of sanding and staining. We have called their sales rep, Scott Wilson, numerous times to ask if they will come back and correct the dark edges, base shoe, etc. and they rarely respond and it is now September 30th and they have made no attempt to correct their poor workmanship. They gave us a $1,114 credit but in the end they charged us $5,900.00 for a floor that has dark edges everywhere and very poor workmanship on the baseshoe. They have been very unresponsive. I would never use them again. We are going to have to hire someone else to correct their poor work.
Description of Work: Saddleback Design installed new oak wood flooring and then refinished existing oak flooring and stained all of it. Saddleback was very unprofessional in assisting us with stain color. They provided samples of stain colors (not on the floor at first) and gave us one evening to decide. The stain eneded up too dark and we asked then (at our cost) to sand it off and re-stain a lighter color. Since they wouldn't mix stains they had to do two coats and charged us 300% of the cost for the second staining. They charged us 200% of the original sanding cost for the "change order". They did not sand off all the darker color despite our calls and requests and left darker stain everywhere along the edges of the floor and door jambs, which they never--despite repeated requests--corrected. They did not clean the floor (even though I told them when they arrived with poly coat in hand that they need to vaccum and clean the floor first) before they applied the poly coat and the end result had bumps everywhere and visible dirt and dog hair under the three coats of polyurethane. After repeated requests they came back and sanded the poly coat and reapplied one coat--which they charged us for.
