Arriving on time as scheduled, the salesman presented options on windows, cladding, glass, etc. The next day an installation representative came out to confirm the measurements, and then Anderson custom built the windows to fit our rough openings. The Renewal By Anderson store called to make an appointment, and we arranged to have the work done the following week. The whole process took about five weeks. The installation crew (three men) arrived shortly after 8:00 am, as scheduled. The crew leader presented a project checklist to explain what they would be doing. They put down plastic runners to protect the floors, and took care with nearby furniture, countertops, etc. to prevent damage. They installed the new windows with great care and skill. The finished job looks like original installation windows, not like some replacement jobs I've seen. On completion, the crew leader showed us how to operate the windows, explained the final paperwork (including warranty), and asked for comments. They ask for a rating of "10" and we were glad to give it to them. Of many small and large jobs we have had done around the house, none have been more satisfactory than this experience.
Description of Work: Replaced four double width casement windows, one single casement window, and one slider window.

- We first met the Renewal by Andersen (RbA) folks at a home show in Colorado Springs. - We had been contemplating window replacement as our house was built in 1979 and many of the aluminum framed windows had seals break in were infiltrated by moisture. - We talked to several window replacement companies but RbA was the only company that agreed to install the new windows properly by cutting back the jams to the original construction rough opening. All of the other companies proposed to simply cut the old windows frames and pop the new windows in sitting them on the window sills. - RbA removed the sills and cut back the drywall to the rough opening of the original construction opening. - The process was pretty straight forward. The RbA sales representative came to our house and took initial measurements. He asked us what style of window we wanted for each opening. In all we had twenty five windows of various sizes and two sliding doors. - Once an agreement was reached RbA allowed me to use a rewards credit card for the required one third down payment/deposit.- RbA sent out a technician a few days later to get more precise measurements and finalize the order. - A couple of weeks later I received a letter, from the president of RbA, Mike Watson, scheduling the installation start date and giving me some directions as to what to expect during the installation. - I also received several follow up calls from RbA confirming everything was on schedule and making sure I was informed of the manufacturing progress. - When installation day arrived, so did the first set of windows and the installation team. They were on time and very efficient. The team consisted of a Master Carpenter, Patrick and his assistant Alan. - Not only is Patrick a Master Carpenter he is a true perfectionist. Every window and door was cut back to the original rough opening. The new windows were installed with precise care. They all were leveled and shimmed to a perfect fit. The two sliding doors came with new trim. Patrick's corner miters are absolutely perfect. - The twenty five window and two sliding door installation took five days, Monday through Friday. Every day at the end the team cleaned up all removed windows, glass, and debris. - When everything was complete we completed the ZERO-DEFECT FORM with a "Yes" for all 14 questions. - My wife and I are very pleased with the windows and the overall results. Our home is noticeably warmer and quieter. - Thank you Renewal by Andersen for a great product and a job well done. - A very Satisfied Renewal by Andersen customer.

Their products and service are excellent. I am completely satisfied with their company. The price they charged me was worth it and competitive. They came when they said they were going to arrive. They took exactly the amount of time they said they were going to stay. They cleaned up and left me in good shape. They are very professional.

The quality of the windows was excellent, the installation people simply could not have been more careful and professional. I did not like the salesman -- he kept referring to my neighbor (who listened to the pitch with me) and me as "girls" and asking us if we were sure we did not have another person (read: husband) to listen to his pitch. He insisted on going through the whole thing, even though I was ready to buy on the spot. I did register a complaint with his supervisor, who was understanding and professional. The windows replaced replacement windows which were okay but ugly. The new windows are much better quality and more handsome, but easily twice the cost of the old windows (installed ten years ago). Except for the unfortunate salesman and sticker shock, I am very happy.

This will be an extremely mixed review. I wish I could put "maybe" instead of yes or no for the "use again" question. Bottom line, we like the windows very much, and the installation crew was terrific; professional, painstaking, right on time, and did excellent work. However, I will never again have anything to do with the project manager, Dave Maness. I have called Andersen, and let them know this; we'll see if that works if we decide to complete the project. Here's what happened: We called Andersen to schedule an estimate in Sept 2011, after researching window quality extensively on the web. They sent Mr. Maness out to do the estimate. He insisted on going through an hour sales presentation despite the fact that we made it clear that we were ready to buy, and just wanted the estimate. After the estimate came the hard sell. Very aggressive. There was no "I'll think about it". He wanted a commitment that night. However, since we were ready to start, we didn't let that bother us, just selected the portion of the project on which we wanted to start, and signed the papers. The installers came a few weeks later, did a great job, and finished in a single day. We're very pleased with the quality of the door and the windows. They get an A in professionalism, to balance the project manager's F. Earlier this month (Feb 2012), Andersen CALLED US, and asked if we were ready to start the next stage. My wife told them that we'd consider it, but we needed to go over the pricing again for each area of the house (their estimates are kind of confusing). She specifically said there would be two conditions: no repeat of the sales pitch, and no pressure to sign the night of the visit. They agreed. And sent Mr. Maness again. Terrible interaction. When we made it clear to him that we just wanted to review estimate numbers, and had no intention of signing a commitment to the rest of the project that night, he became very upset. Told us we'd wasted his time, that if we were smart enough, we could have figured out the pricing ourselves (!!), and that we shouldn't make an appointment if we weren't ready to buy. (Remember, THEY called US.) Argued and pushed, argued and pushed. It was like a time-share presentation on steroids. And with insults. I asked him to leave several times...remember this is in my house...and he just kept pushing. He finally left the paperwork for us to sign and send in, if we so decide. I called Andersen a couple days later, lodged a complaint, and was told we never have to work with him again if we don't want to. We'll see. Still haven't decided if we're going to stick with them or change companies. Like the windows, but never want to see or speak with that man again. I'll submit an update, if we decide to proceed.
Description of Work: We had 4 basement windows and a basement patio door replaced. This is about 1/4 of the house's windows, and we intended to complete the project in stages, over time. Worked with this company because the Colorado Springs office is now closed.

They did a great job. They charged about $4,000 for the job. They have been great each time I have used them. There have been lack of coordinating schedules, but they have been great to followup. They have answered all my questions. They have a good product and they are very informative. I would recommend to others. Their quality is good, even though, they are not cheap. I registered to win a $10,000 window replacement from Renewal by Andersen at a festival in Littleton. I figured it was just a ploy to get people's contact info, and it was. I was called a few days after I entered and was basically told "thousands of people enter the contest and only one person wins". I was asked to get a free estimate for replacement windows done, I reluctantly agreed. The first lady who scheduled my appointment was great, then she transferred me to her supervisor to confirm the appointment, and the supervisor had a bad attitude and was a bit off-putting. They got me scheduled that night at 6:30pm. They said to allow 1 hour for the presentation/measuring, etc. It ended up being a full 2 hours!!! The sales guy was right on time and immediately my husband and I liked him. His name was Jason. He was an excellent salesman, and very friendly. After all the measuring, talking, and looking at displays, etc, it was finance time! This is where we were taken aback. We have a small (1,156 sq. ft) ranch style home with only 6 windows. All the windows are of average size, the largest is the front "picture" window. The total cost (without upgrades) was $12,000!!! I was shocked and baffled as to how in the world our small house with average sized windows could need 12k in replacement windows! I will say the Andersen windows seemed far superior to vinyl or wooden windows, they use a Fibrex material that seemed durable. Jason left my husband and myself alone to discuss what we wanted to do. We both knew that 12 grand for windows was not an option. We had to tell Jason the news, and then he did start in on the "these are your options" game, but still he was only moderately pressuring us. I was not offended, I just didn't like us being given no time to decide or to weigh our options. They wanted us to sign and agree at 8:30pm on the spot. I then inquired about just replacing our front picture window, because of cost. He quoted me $3,500 just for that one window!!! So, obviously, I passed. I will look for another company that is reasonably priced to do our windows. The average homeowner cannot afford this company's products! One other thing to note is that the glass in the windows made by Andersen is coated with Titanium Dioxide. Jason told us this makes them "self cleaning". Only problem is Titanium Dioxide is shown to cause lung tumors and disrupts hormones, among other things. (Google it!) My husband and I are "all natural" (with eating, personal products, cleansers, etc.) so this was troubling to us.

Anderson by Renewal is not cheap, but you sure get what you pay for. I finally finished redoing the balance of my windows and continue to be very pleased with the service after 10 years, They arrived on time and the three installers started by placing mats and carpet protectors where needed. They were all very polite and articulate. They were mindful that I had three inside-only cats which can be a challenge when removing windows on two floors. They vacuumed more than I do and left no trace when they were finished. The foreman did a walk through with me, and we found one minor caulk area to retouch. The next day we had a gully washer of a Colorado storm and the windows were perfect. in my neighborhood, there have been no-name, Champion and Renewal by Anderson windows installed - the Anderson windows have been the only windows the neighbors rave about. While I live in a quiet neighborhood, even the thunder is not as loud.

They were good from start to finish. Sales and install people were great. Sales was great because there was a little snafu between what I wanted and what was ordered, but they made it right with no hassle. Installers were great because my house is old (1905) and has a lot of contsruction techniques that haven't been used in a long time. For example, there's no wood framing in the exterior of my house except for the roof. I've had that throw some trades for a loop. The install people came up with good solutions to match their product the the quirks of my home. They are a little pricier than their competitors, but in the end, you get what you pay for.

This may have been the worst customer service experience of my life. The salesman who arrived to give me an estimate was rude, unprofessional, and insulting. I understand that the windows may be very good, but I will never purchase any from this company after the was I as treated. The salesman arrived late because he had written down the wrong address. Once he arrived, we sat in my dining room to discuss why I requested the visit. I explained that I planned to purchase about 20 windows and two sliding glass doors for my home over the next five years. In order to budget, I wanted an estimate on the cost and timing. I also wanted to see what types of windows were available and most cost efficient for me. He first asked me how much I thought windows for my home might cost. I guessed between $5,000 and $10,000, not including the sliding doors. The salesman actually scoffed and told me I was "way low." I felt insulted and demeaned. I do not know how much windows and installation cost, which is why I had asked for an estimate. I though between $250 and $500 per window seemed reasonable. Rather than walking me through the pricing, I was only demeaned in my own home. When I said that was out of my price range now, but I wanted to know what other options I might have, the salesman said "why do you even want an estimate if you aren't planning to purchase today?" As I tried to answer, he spoke over me and told me why that didn't make sense to even get an estimate. At that point I asked him to leave. He stormed out and slammed my front door when he left. If he were an employee for my company, he would be sternly reprimanded and required to apologize if not simply terminated on the spot. If this had been an isolated event, I may not have written this report. Unfortuntately, the appointment stemmed from my attendance at the Colorado Home and Garden Show. At that event, I had been speaking to a salesmand who I told that I was trying to make a five year plan. He lost interest immediately. But worse, when I was talking to another salesman, the first said "don't bother with him, he isn't looking to buy anything right now." I was stunned and left immediately, without finishing my conversation. I would not have made an appointment if not for the effort of one of the managers, Nick Bonban, who kinly tracked me down and apologized for the salesmans' actions. That convinced me to accept the appointment when contacted a few weeks later. Unfortunately, that second chance ended disasterously. I will say the customer service rep who made a followup call was very kind. Even without seeing the quality of the windows, which sound terrific, I cannot urge anyone else to do anything but find another company for windows.

In the first week of October 2009 I stopped by the Renewal By Anderson Showroom in Colorado Springs in response to an ad run by the company. The ad promised a reduced price for windows or patio doors, or up to 20% off, and also promised a free $100.00 gift card when customers visit a Design Center before purchase. I looked at options available to use for replacement of two patio doors (one with a side window panel) and arranged for a salesman visit. I asked about the $100.00 gift card and was given a card to present to the salesman. The salesman visited our home 9 October 2009. We showed him the doors we wanted replaced, and discussed our options. He priced the replacement of the two doors, and we asked that they be installed by Christmas as we had company coming for the holidays, and we wished to exercise our tax credit for the 2009 tax year. He advised it would not be a problem and noted our need for installation by Christmas on the contract. We signed and deposited $2,500.00 for the windows and installation. He advised us we would hear from the Renewal by Anderson office very soon regarding a time/date for the measurement team to come by, and that we would soon receive our $100.00 gift card. On Friday 23 October we had heard nothing from the office regarding a measurement team. I stopped by the Design Center and asked why we had not received a call. The clerk/salesman called the salesman and I explained my concern to him; he promised to call back. The salesman did call back to say he had spoken to his manager, and there had been a problem but I would hear from the office for an appointment by Monday 26 October. On Friday 30 October I still had heard nothing from the office regarding an appointment (or anything else). I called the salesman to tell him I was going back to the Design Center; he did not answer so I left a message. As I arrived at the Design Center I received a call from someone at the office. She stated they had gotten behind, apologized, and promised a call Saturday 31 October. On Saturday she called and we set an appointment date of Tuesday 3 November. This was a busy day but given the difficulties already I accepted the date. I am aware of the provisions 2 & 3 on the reverse side of the contract that excuse late installation; however, none of the justifications for delay applied to my situation. The measurement team took measurements Tuesday 3 November. In my continuing contact with the office I was advised the doors would not arrive in time for a pre-Christmas installation as promised. I explained that we depended on the pre-Christmas installation both in terms of family comfort as well as the tax credit. She advised me the only day they could be installed was 31 December. I was uncomfortable with that date (if the weather was poor installation could not be done; and we had other plans). However, we adjusted our plans. The installation team arrived the morning of 31 December with decent weather. The installation went well with the exception of a large broken piece of stucco at the top corner of one of the doors. The installer promised to return in a few days to patch it. I asked if Renewal by Anderson shouldn't be contacted so their stucco expert could do the repair. The installer said no he would do the repair in a professional fashion that would not be noticeable (in order to get the tax break I would have to sign the paperwork that day). I did try to call the Renewal By Anderson office at about 2:00 pm 31 January to ask if it was appropriate that an installer fix stucco and if the quality checklist could be completed when the work was done, but they did not answer. The installer did return a few days later and patched the broken area. The repair was very poorly done and clearly did not match in texture or color (it could be seen from across the street). It also clearly was not going to last. He had promised he would return to finish the job in a few days. He did not return or call. From 4 January to 8 January I sent several emails asking about the gift card. The person I spoke with coordinated within her office and several promises were made that it was on the way. On 12 January I contacted the office to express my concern about the stucco repair. She contacted a repairman and he in turn contacted me. He has behaved very professionally and has repaired the patch, and although the color is still not a good match I am satisfied. On 22 January I inquired again about the gift card. I was advised it would go out "some time next week". I still have not received it nearly three weeks later. This has been the most difficult process imaginable, from Renewal making no measurement appointment until I contacted them, a promised installation date not met, poor installation and an installer who did not live up to promises made, to a phantom gift card I am now convinced was offered fraudulently. The only urgency shown by this company through this entire tortuous process was a result of my own constant prodding through trips to the Design Center, phone calls, and emails. My wife and I love the doors themselves. They are well made, have resolved moisture problems, and are visually appealing. However, we will never purchase another product through Renewal By Anderson in Colorado Springs. It was my pleasure to advise a friend and former colleague here in Monument who wished to replace all the windows in his house to look elsewhere. I will continue to offer that advice to potential customers through any medium I can use.

They were very friendly and prompt. They were very straight foward about their product and prices. We got a quote from them, and decided to go with someone else. We didn't make our decision based on their service, but it was that their product was out of our price range.
Description of Work: I had Renewal by Anderson give me a quote for replacement windows.
