Didn't get anything but NO!
Description of Work: I was very disappointed that they are the highest rated of all auto electric entities on Angie's list and after reviewing their website was excited to have them give me a bid to do work on my vehicle. I was told that they are not interested in doing anything other than OEM work on vehicles. This would have been a quick $2k job for them and the ability for me to pass on their expertise to others looking to have work done on collector cars. Unfortunately they must not be capable of doing anything above and beyond any other automotive electric group in the Denver area.

Husband's car would roll when placed in park. Car has automatic transmission. He took the car in for a courtesy check at no charge. They told him it was possibly the park rod internal in the transmission. They recommended the transmission be removed and torn down to find exact problem. Recommended a rebuilt transmission. Estimated cost $1,522 plus tax. Note: Elder Auto does rebuild the transmission at their place but sends the transmission out to a place they normally use to do this. The warranty is on parts and labor and is for two years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also covers the place that actually does work on the transmission. They said it would take 3-4 days for the work to be completed. It was actually was ready in 5 days. They did call us to say the car was ready. One thing that upset us was the day we brought the car in for the work, they called us later in the day and wanted to have a down payment of 60%. Although we could see with a big job like this they wanted a down payment but nothing was mentioned to us at the time of the estimate or when we brought the car in. We agreed to a down payment of 50%. The transmission runs great now. No parking problems. Elder Auto did a good job and on the whole we would recommend them.

Husband's car. Did good job. Very courtious and professional. Brake Service done in a timely manner. Estimate within about $10 of actual cost. Warranty on parts and labor is two years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first. My husband has had no complaints about work performed and would recommend using them.

I was referred to Elder for my VW by another well-trusted shop who only work on Japanese makes. The car was initially in for a variety of electrical issues which were either resolved or just too expensive to bother on an 11-year-old car. Not a week later the car was dead in my garage. Had it towed to Elder again and they pin-pointed the problem as completely unrelated and had it ready in a day. It's an old car and I hated to pour any more money into it, but I trust the work they performed. The car is still running fine but I'm not entirely sure about the thermostat change as the gauge still reads 190 max. They warned me that it was sort of a best-guess to solve the problem. The team seemed very knowledgable and were pleasant and professional to work with.
Description of Work: Much of the problem was probably due to skipping a tune-up so they replaced the spark plugs, did oil change and installed new thermostat because it wasn't heating to 200 degrees as per specs.

Everyone I dealt with was very friendly and knowledgeable. Despite the fact that the place was very busy, I was waited on quickly and given as much time as I needed to explain why my car and I were there. The customer service tech did a good job of explaining to me what my car definitely needed, what was recommended, and what was recommended by the manufacturer but wasn't really necessary at that time. Nobody tried to push me into buying any service I didn't want or need. Later in the day, the mechanic working on my car called me just to review everything that was on the work order and to go over the results of the tire rotation, battery service, and brake inspection. He also answered some questions I had made note of when I first dropped off the car. Also, the mechanic took the time to explain some important things I didn't know about the make and model of my car. This should save me trouble later on. This was one of the most pleasant car care experiences I've ever had.
Description of Work: My car needed routine maintenance, including an oil change, tire rotation, battery service, brake inspection, and an overall check up.

I studied for hours and hours on Angie's List looking for a new auto repair shop to use for my service van and my five other vehicles in the future. I'm very picky from having 3-generations of mechanics in my family that are now retired, disabled or passed away. Recently I had three estimates from other auto repair shops I've been using in the past (not on Angie's List) of what needed repaired on my van and all three were very different from each other ranging from $800 to $3800, this was scary and depressing. I felt as though I would have been paying these overrated convenient shops for their training and guess work. You probably know where I'm coming from. This van has 227000 miles and surely I don't need to spend any money that I don't need to as this van almost in the grave! Elder auto took more time than anyone else to do a thorough solid inspection and estimate of what needed repair. Elder Auto's estimate was for $2155 and for the most part the "Repairs Needed" were VERY different from what other shops had told me. This confused me as well. While taking into consideration the history I have with Auto Repair Shop Nightmares I decided my real problem was that I don't trust any Auto Repair Shops period no matter what they told me, period! I then thought of how relaxed, confident and knowledgeable these people seemed to be and how professional they where while talking and listened to what I had to say. No pressure sales and add-ons of things I don't really need. Dick Stokes handled everything in a sincere caring manner that I have never experienced with anyone other than family. This sold me to take the risk with them so I did. They repaired what they said they would other than one thing they found that did not need repaired. When have you ever heard that from a Repair Shop? After finishing all the repairs when promised they called me and I went to pick up my van at their shop. (After they closed) They insisted I take a test drive with them before I paid the invoice and it drove perfect. Went inside to pay my invoice that was $256 less than what I was originally quoted and they advised me that "ALL REPAIRS" included a "2-year 24,000-mile warranty"! Through personal experience I know this is unheard of in the automotive repair industry! You will find as I have that Elder Auto is the most knowledgeable, trustworthy and professional repair shop you will find in Denver. I challenge you to prove me wrong! This is coming from a Denver native and the son of a third generation family of super mechanics from Ford And GM. Elder Auto has made me re-think my own company's "High Bar" level of customer service that I already provide. Wow! Thank you so much Elder Auto and Dick Stokes for the Stellar service I thought I would never see again in my lifetime! Sincerely, your Customer for life! Ross

Very pleased, turns out Dick lives near me, I joked I should have had him drive the car in... And he promptly wrote out his phone number, address and said he'd be happy to do that any time. When he called me, he was very honest about what it needed, what he would spend money on and what he wouldn't. I took his advice, and about 3 hours later they called to say it was ready. Picked it up, ran much smoother all the way home. In the morning, voil , started like it used to. Dick even called me in the morning to apologize that he couldn't be there when I picked it up, and asked me to let him know if the problem was solved... (It was)... and he said if it wasn't he would come by, keep it overnight, and see if he could diagnose next morning. If you're looking for guys that really care, are very friendly and pleasant to deal with, and good mechanics, this is the place. I don't know where Ramone finds these people, but at last, a shop I feel good about!
Description of Work: I have a 96 Explorer that is in good shape, but was idling rough in the morning. Took it to these guys, and asked them to look at that and give the vehicle a once over. Extremely friendly, polite, courteous... took time to know me, ask about what I needed. Called me back within a couple of hours. Said they didn't see the problem, probably because engine was now warm. But they recommended replacing spark plugs & wires (had never had them done in 120K miles); flush power steering, oil change, and replaced some light bulbs.

They accurately diagnosed the misfiring problem and performed the tune-up. Their quoted price was exactly what I paid and the car was finished in less than a day. My car runs great. I am very satisfied with their service and will return to them for all my auto work.
