Save yourself and stay far away from this company!!! Trust the reviews that say they make an already stressful situation so much worse! They are fraudulent and as many have said in reviews, they need to be investigated and I will do everything I can to make sure they are. I had a flood in my basement right before I was about to list my house. I used this company and that was the worst business decision I have ever made. I should have read reviews!! Insurance paid them $20K. After I moved they sent their collection goon, Joe Baca after me. I couldn't understand why because insurance already paid them and I paid the deductible. They said I owed $5,500K more. I paid it to be done with it because they ruined my credit and I wanted it off my report. Their goon said Abbotts owned the debt and he was just the middle man, so I paid Abbotts directly and they provided receipts. However, the idiot with the nasally voice, Joe Baca that they partner with would not remove it from my credit report, even though Tanya at Abbotts said she asked him to. She said the goon wouldn't return her calls. He only changed the balance to zero on the credit reports. Fast forward two years and I'm now being garnished $3,100K!! They say it's court costs (there must have been a two week trial that I wasn't aware of! (Heavy sarcasm)). So this fiasco has cost $30K for a small basement cleanup, which is more than it cost to finish the basement in the first place. I'm a single parent with a medical condition and they are making life so much more difficult. Also, of note, they charged for laminate and installed cheap carpet and they didn't even fix the problem. I had to hire other contractors to come in after and fix it! Their workers can't speak a word of English so they are impossible to communicate with. I am going to post reviews on a regular basis to save others from going through what me and apparently a lot of others have gone through!! I agree with the people that have said they need to be investigated and I will do everything in my control to see that they are! Please do NOT make the same mistake I did - save yourself and hire a reputable company!!!

We called Abbott when our crawl space flooded. They came right out, removed the water, placed a dehumidifier and a few fans in the crawl space for a few days, and it was back to normal. They also checked for mold and thankfully we didn’t have any. They made the process simple and non stressful. Thanks Abbott!

These guys are incompetent. They showed up at my fire damaged property and wanted to bid the job. I said I was already set with someone else bidding it. They pressed me to give a competitive bid so I agreed. Once they had access to the property they proceeded to argue with the other contractors on site and create additional headaches for me to work out scheduling and get them to come back at a better time. Now after 3 months theyre telling me they dont want to bid the job any more because I wont commit to giving the work to them until I see a bid. Ive wasted a ton of time meeting them at the property and gathering insurance documentation for them. They were completely happy to waste my time and energy but wont even put in any work to win the job.

It was a total disaster. These folks are totally disorganized, have absolutely no process in place to get things done, do not hold themselves accountable for a single thing, and ultimately don't complete the job or document anything. We had to fire them for cause after six months of non performance. They force you to pre-pay them for work, and since they never completed the work, we are still trying to get back the insurance provided proceeds we paid to them for work never completed. When we refused to close our very detailed complaint against them on the BBB, they tried to turn the tables and say that we owed them money, which couldn't be further from the truth. Abbotts made us suffer through working with three different project managers none of whom gave any information about the project to the subsequent "manager." ANd now they are trying to ignore the documentation we have in writing from their then General Manager proving that we are owed precisely what we have claimed. The fire took place in the winter, and they waited months to even check for frozen pipes, and when they found many had frozen, they "forgot" while changing project managers to mitigate the damage. This "forgetfulness" cost the insurance company any extra $25K. Abbotts has one goal and only one goal ... to delay the project as long as possible in order to gouge the insurance company for as much money and potential profit as they can. It is unconscionable. All they had to do was return our money for work never completed, and we would have gone away ... angry, but we would have gone away. Stay far, far away from these people. They cannot be trusted.

I have no idea how these folks stack up against other companies; I've not been happy with them, but am in the midst of expensive contracts, so my options have been limited.  Dealt with the same company (by another name) in 2008, similar events in our problem basement, and, had I known these were the same people, I'd never have chosen them.  However, it may be that I just have unrealistic expectations; nevertheless, over all, some of the employees have not seemed very professional.  I just hope I come out of this okay.

The worst contractor experience we have ever had! This was a big job...about 8000 sqt ft of smoke damaged walls to repair and contents to clean and most of it needed to be reworked by other contractors (that we loved and recommended). Now, we've had contractors do major work for us in the past and, sure not everything went as planned and that's OK. We get it. These guys, on the other hand, promised, stumbled, and made one excuse after another for 3 months before we fired them. They signed up for a long list of tasks specified by our insurance company to assure that the smell of smoke would never return, but they only completed the work that could be seen. Shortcut the work: For example, they only painted where cleaning was specified as the first step. Didn't know what they were doing: Drywall mud applied in sub-zero weather without heat resulted in substantial cracking. Painting done under similar conditions because they only had a couple small ceramic tabletop heaters to heat 16,000 cubic feet of building and the painting crew consisted of a golf pro and a couple junior carpenters. Billed for work they didn't do: The grand finale was an extended debate with the owner, Trevor Martin regarding the invoice. He would only bill to the insurance company scope, much of which he did not complete and the harder we pushed for an acutal invouice, the more he added to the and quot;out of scopeand quot; list. Companies like this are one reason we are all paying more for insurance. Stay far, far away from these guys!! UPDATE: After we turned down the owner's offer to compensate us to remove the poor review, they posted a completely false response to our Google review to hide their behavior, which seems consistent with having their relatives post reviews on Google too. Thank goodness for Angie's List!

Kudos for showing up right away.  The response to my bathroom drying needs was quick.  However, the rest of the process was not good at all.
They tore half my ceiling out, which was fine.  However, they ruined a wall in the process due to carelessness.
We have a 50 square foot bathroom but they charged us for tearing out  80 square foot of drywall at 2.75 per unit price ( who knows what that means??)
That alone came to $220. (remind you - we only have a 50 sq.ft. bathroom) the additional charges included $164.11 for a service call during business hours, $48.80 for air mover for 48 hours and $54.21 for dehumidifier. They added $48.81 for additional overhead and another $48.81 for profit.  they only tore out half the ceiling which would only have been 25 sq. ft. !
The machines were turned off after two days when the bathroom was declared dry and mold free but the machines were left there and were not picked up for another 3 days.   Machines were obtrusive and in the way and should have been taken once they turned them off and bathroom was dry.
I was going to use them to remodel my bathroom but we could not agree on the contract.
I don't have it in writing, but the GM did verbally state that the $585.70 did include putting our ceiling back and fixing the part of the wall they ruined.   Of course, this was not honored since we did not hire them for the bathroom remodel.
The GM inspected and admitted they had done a sloppy job and offered to fix the wall for free.
(which was not fixed at all since we did not agree on their terms for a bathroom remodel)
The Contract was designed for insurance claims, which was communicated to them several times that I was not going to go through insurance.
The contract was very vague and did not offer the consumer any protection and was heavily leaning to the contractor's benefit.
It required a 30% deposit with unspecified draws throughout the project.  You read it over and over that you are not suppose to give upfront money to contractors until the job is complete and you as a consumer are satisfied and that a reputable company would not require this.

Our family experienced a large sewage back-up in our basement. It was a wet, disgusting mess. Abbott's came right out and explained how they would take care of the my problem, step by step. Believe me - these guys know what they're doing. They extracted everything, removed everything that had been affected, sanitize, sprayed and dried my basement. They also helped me with my insurance claim with my insurance company. Abbott's accomplished all that they said they would in a timely and professional manner. Our house is healthy and clean again! I just wanted to thank them and highly recommend them!
