Helping Hands Moving

I used them last year to move my office and they were great. Now we are moving to a new home so I gave them a call. Nobody answered the phone so I left a message. I did get a call-back and she came out to look at our house to give us an estimate. Nice lady came out on Wednesday 2/20/2013 and looked around. She said she would email me an estimate the next day. After not hearing from her the next day (Thursday) as she promised, I waited until Monday. On Monday, I called and again got a voice mail. I left a message stressing I needed to hear back. Today is Wednesday and no call back. If you run a business you have to answer your phone 100% of the time. If for some reason you can't answer then you need to promptly call people back the same day. I only rated them a "C" because they were so good last year when I used them. If this were my only experience with them I would rate them "F". I am on a tight deadline and have wasted 2 weeks dealing with these people. I will not use them again. The moving business is already full of shady characters and all it would take is for somebody to come into the area who knows how to provide customer service. This is not that company.

This is the second time we have hired Helping Hands for a move. Both times we were completely satisfied with their professionalism. The quote we got was less than other movers had given us. They arrived on time, worked quickly but carefully and completed the job in less time than we expected. I highly recommend this company and will definitely use them again.

graTwo people arrived on time for an estimate - a business person and a crew chief. We pointed out what we wanted them to move and what we would move ourselves. We also explained how some pieces needed special handling. Their bid was based on dollars per hour. In the end, there were some things we moved ourselves that some things we didn't, but their overall labor came within the estimate. The move happened within the time estimate; they were careful about dinging walls etc. They were meticulous about photo-documenting every mar and scratch on furniture, which I've never seen before despite having had three cross-country moves in the past 10 years and two local moves. Which is why I'm concerned about the ONLY problem that did happen. Helping Hands sent a different crew chief; not the one who came by originally, so we had to point everything out again and explain the fine points of some of the furniture. One of the items of furniture is a two-piece coffee table, which has a very heavy rectangular top and a lightweight wooden base. The top should be removed before moving the table, it's a three-person tabletop - very heavy. My wife explained to them how to move the table, but two movers lifeted the table with the base; one on each end, and cracked part of the base. We identified the problem immediately -- before the table was loaded onto the truck. They had been taking pictures (meticulously) of every mar, scratch and ding on every piece of furniture, so there was no contesting they caused the damage. They wrote it up, and after moving from one place to another, they took the table base with them. They said it would be two to four weeks before it was returned. I called today, after 3 weeks, and asked about the table. Rather than being given an estimate of completion, so they could complete the move (the table top is in the basement)), the person on the phone apologized for the delay by saying she had "been out of town" and before going out of town, had requested the woodworker to inspect the table. That didn't happen. She then began to question me about whether they caused the damage -- I said I did not want to answer questions indicating whether or not they would repair the table; I just want to know when they would return the repaired table. She refused to answer my questions, and created what I believe to be an unfortunate situation -- I feel, at this time, that the company is being dodgy, in addition to handling this situation too slowly. It has been more than 3 weeks that they said they would repair the table, and NOW they are questioning me about whether or not they would fix it. I still have no idea when I will hear back from them. If they fix the table, I could raise my grade. If they do not, I will certainly lower the grade escalate my complaint.

We were extremely pleased with Helping Hands. Shauna came and gave us an estimate. She was prompt, efficient, and gave an accurate estimate. The team of men showed up right when they were scheduled to arrive. They were all friendly and courteous. They hustled in and out. They were very careful with our furniture both loading and unloading. We downsized homes and making everything fit in the new home ended up being a bit of a puzzle at times. They were patient in getting big pieces through small areas and our need to rearrange from our original ideas. We would highly recommend this company.

Helping Hands arrived on time, and really hustled. The three men that came were so polite, and very knowledgable about moving. They were so helpful, even when I changed my mind about where to place things. They took great care with protecting my furniture, and went above and beyond to place things exactly where I wanted.

It was poor. They showed up, and told me that I had misinformed them and that they most likely would not be able to do what I needed them to do. The man told me that he had a doctors appointment at a certain time, and if they didn't get it done by then it would be up to me. They did work fairly hard, but toward the end they just started piling things into the pod. So not only did I have to find someone last minute to finish the job, but they also had to reorganize one of the pods since it was so inefficiently done. I spoke with Helping Hands about this, and they would not help pay for this new company or even apologize. They blamed me for the problem.

Mark and Mike were punctual and very professional. They did a great job to help us move. We didn't have a tremendous amount of stuff but had a long drive. They were very careful with our belongings and nothing was damages. They offered to help us rearrange the furniture and the end of our move too!

This the second time that I have used Helping Hands and both occasions were excellent. Shauna is responsive on the phone, the movers came on time, finished quickly and the price was as advertised. And, best of all, my back was in the same condition as when i woke up this morning !! Highly recommend them for big or small jobs.

They showed up on time, hustled throughout and performed a flawless move. Their estimate of time was on target, they moved the equivalent of a large 3 BR apartment 10 miles in three hours. Outstanding service, nice folks, highly recommended.

Larry and his crew did a fantastic job of handling our move. They were punctual, professional, very careful with our belongings, and showed absolutely amazing hussle all day long. Even at the end of an exhausting day, they were still asking us if we wanted anything switched around from where it had been placed. Their kind and courteous attitudes were much appreciated, along with their amazing knowledge of how best to move challenging pieces of furniture. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I needed to switch furniture between my first floor living room and basement family area. This included a very heavy sleeper sofa and entertainment center, as well as 2 additional sofas, 3 side chairs and various ottomans and tables. Two movers arrived as scheduled and completed the job within 1 1/2 hours. I was very pleased with their attention to detail, the care they took of my furniture, and their professionalism. It can be difficult to find reputable companies willing to take on such a small job, but Helping Hands was ready & able. They were courteous and professional, and did not make me feel as though my small job was a waste of their time. I would definitely use them again!

Helping Hands did a terrific job with my move. The movers had a great attitude, great hussle, and were very careful with my furniture and belongings. The did everything they were asked to do, and cheefully. They worked hard all day, and the results were first-class. Best of all, they were careful about where the deposited furniture and boxes at the new house, resulting in the least post-move chaos I have ever experienced! Thank you to Larry, Mark, Michael, and Blake, and to Owner, Shauna, too. Great value for the best move to date (and I've move a LOT!)

In my opinion this is a unprofessional company and would NEVER use them again.I hired Helping Hands Moving to move my household items from a storage unit to my home. My items had been moved from my home to the storage unit under my supervision by another company. I was happy with this company but they coundn't move me when I needed them to. So I called Helping Hands to move my household items to my home. Unfortunately the day of the move I came down with the flu and wasn't able to to be at the storage unit to supervise the move. I trusted to them to move my things. I noticed that some of my items were scratched but didn't say anything. The next week I went to put my antique iron bed together and found that the bed rails were missing. When I called the moving company I was told that the drivers were not in but she would ask them if they knew where the rails were and that she would call me back. After no phone call from them I called them again and got the same response. Still no phone call so I called them again and got the same response. This time she informed me that they were not insured for items that they lost. When reviewing my contract with them I did not see anywhere where it says that they don't replace items lost. I would NEVER use them again. The movers were nice but they company management is very unprofessional. I wish I had waited and used the other company!

We have used them 8 or 10 times over the past 15 years. The moving guys are great. It is a small company. If there is damage they will take care of it, not that they damage much, they are very careful.

My overall rating for this company is excellent.

They showed up on time; actually a little early. They were very prompt and efficient. The two guys did their work. They were friendly but they stayed working the whole time. They actually finished an hour earlier than they anticipated. They had predicted 6 hours and it took 5. I would absolutely use them again.

This was a very positive experience with packing and loading my belongings. Larry, Mark, and Mike worked quickly yet carefully to pack my stuff. They were very professional. They returned a few days later to load the storage/moving containers. Once again they were careful to protect my furniture and other belongings. They worked very hard moving some heavy containers and a heavy treadmill.

The movers worked really hard and really fast, they even moved my piano which really impressed me. They were careful with my belongings, friendly and prompted.

They were really professional and easy going. They had to make several stops at different places to pick up things and they were super nice about it. They crew I had did a great job, they weren't lolly gagging around. I would use them again since I've already used them twice before and it's been great overall.

Helping Hands took care of everything for us. They were organized and prompt from start to finish. Our belongings were handled with care. The guys were fast and efficient and they took care of appliance hook-ups as well. I would recommend them for sure..

First of all, being able to find great movers on short notice was worth the cost of being an Angie's List member!! I called the provided phone number, reached Shauna immediately, and set up a date for the next week. Larry and Taylor arrived on time, listened to my husbands instructions, carefully moved all of the furniture and were done in 2 1/2 hours (including travel time). Nothing bumped into the walls or door frames including a treadmill which only had 1/2 inch clearance on each side. No worries! We will call them back when the repairs are finished and we can move everything back to its place.

We have used them multiple times. They were great. Everytime we have used them they are on time, courtesous, profressional, they handle all of our stuff well, they haven't broken anything, and they are very personable.

Larry, Fred and Taylor arrived on time and were super. They took good care of my furniture pieces and were very courteous. All was moved with no damage. They were even very accomodating when certain items were asked to be moved "an inch here, and an inch there"--like a baby grand piano! And at the last minute, they went to another address with me and moved an extremely heavy treadmill from garage to inside. I think that item surely had to cause them to need a good soak in a hot bath that night! In the end they were right on honest about how much the move cost--they even deducted for a 15 minute break--which was certainly deserved! I was able to use the Angie's list discount for 7% off--which really helped. In this day and age when we are all watching our pocketbooks, their honesty would be the number one reason that I would recommend them--and their courteousness would closely follow.

The movers showed up on time and were very efficient and nice to deal with. All the furniture and all the boxes we had packed was loaded into the truck, transported to our new address, and unloaded in less time than we expected, and nothing broke in the process. We did not pay for packing service, but we probably will in the future. It is so much work and stress in a move anyway, so it is worth having the professionals do it.

See the answer to the above question also. Some companies don't want small moving jobs like this because it only took about an hour. But that is all I needed and they were perfect for the job. They really were fantastic, professional, courteous, and strong. I couldn't have asked for the job to have been done better!
