The biggest ORIGINAL issue, is they gave us a 40 day guarantee, then took nearly 80 days to complete the work. We ended up buying many of the items we expected them to take care of based upon the quote, we were often told things were on back order. Every time we checked ourselves, we found this to be a total fabrication. Communication was horrendous. There is no other way to put it. We would be told, "we will be there first thing in the morning" and they would not show up until 1pm. There were days they didn't even show up. When given an actual time when they would arrive, they were typically 4 hours late. Phone calls often went unanswered, and often, we were treated rudely. The owner, Ron Sheets, actually told my husband, when Mr Sheets failed to show up again one day, "just because I work for you, you don't own me." Though they did not smoke in my home, Mrs. Sheets frequently smoked in my front yard and then reentered the house, bringing that horrid smell into my home. This couple makes excuses for their errors instead of doing it right the first time, or even just fixing it. It felt like we were working with middle schoolers. This company lacks all sense of professionalism and respect. Once hired, we were left with no choice but to continue working with them. But we feel if we had not begun vocalizing our complaints, and even advising we would get the BBB involved, they STILL would not be done. In a rather heated debate over finishing the basement, we were given a "final end date" of October 21. They took another week beyond that, with us arguing and pushing to get this done. Their guarantee is only words. There is nothing whatsoever to back up their words of a guarantee to complete the project in 40 days. Their website boasts a "40 Day Completion Guarantee" "2 year Ironclad Warranty" "Sanitary footwear worn while we are in your home" (subcontractors did this, but not this contractor) "24 hour On-Call and Email support" (calls were very rarely answered and only returned typically after our third attempt and aggravated message, email was NEVER returned) "Serve Entire Colorado Springs area and EL Paso County" ( I bring this one up because we live in Fountain, and Mr. Sheets began complaining about the cost of gas to drive to our home). The owners of this company do not take pride in their work, lied to us on MANY MANY MANY occasions, and after telling us we should NOT report these issues to the BBB because "this business is my livihood", refused to finish the work, stand behind his mistakes, or communicate any further after we were given NO CHOICE but to complain to the BBB. We still do not have the step for the tub, tiles are NOT lined up correctly, the contractor tried to tell me I shouldn't care about uneven tiles (uneven by more than 1/4 inch) because it was on a seam. Um, a seam HE built! The pattern of the smal tiles in the shower are all wrong, many on the floor are not squared off correctly, he did not build the ledges in the bathtub/shower he promised during initial quote, the touch ups they did on the paint THEY damaged, was done without mixing the paint, so as a result it appears to be a different color. They also NEVER did a second coat of paint, as was promised. The access panels, chosen as plastic because Mr. Sheets stated plastic was much easier for him to paint, were never painted. We hung the shower rod, bathroom mirror and bathroom towel racks, because Mr. Sheets was "too overwhelmed" even though he was paid to do it. And again, after Mr. Sheets refused to return our calls for a week, we had to file with the BBB. Then Mr. Sheets waited for us to call again, actually answered this time (probably only the 2nd or 3rd time since AUGUST) and stated because we filed a complaint, he would not repair or complete ANY work. The ethics of this company are dispicable. Nov 16, 2011 - we received notice from one of Mr. Sheets subcontractors, that they have not been paid for work they did in our home. After speaking to this subcontractor, we discovered that Mr. Sheets told this company he could not pay because the homeowner (us) had not paid. We offered to send copies of the cancelled checks to this subcontractor to prove payments were made as agreed, despite the poor service we received. Mr. Sheets tried to blame us for failing to pay his own bill, and this is NOT okay. We have updated our complaint to the BBB, and will continue to pursue a resolution that is acceptable to US. But we will not tolerate Mr. Sheets sending subcontractors after us finanaically, when HE failed to pay HIS bills. Despite all these issues, he was OVER PAID by us, and paid on the agreed times WITHOUT EXCEPTION.
