American Vision Windows

I chose AVW because of their reputation, but after my first experience with their numerous mess-ups.... I was so frustrated, I considered opening my own window installation company so no one else would have to go thru what I did! Crazy huh? That's how bad it was. By the end, they had restored SOME of my faith in the company by fixing most of their mistakes with quality work. ---But it took a ton of effort on my part to get there. Here's my story: After I made the deal with the salesman, I never heard from him again. Except when I called him two days later to add the sound package on my windows. I waited a month after they measured for the windows before I started calling to see when they would arrive for install. The salesman never called back, but after several calls to AVW and getting transferred around to other people within the company, they finally came to install 2 weeks later. But... the windows they brought were 10 inches too small! All 12 of them! After waiting 6 weeks! BTW... they had already started demolition before they realized they had windows that were too small, so they had to screw the old windows back into place so I didn't have big holes in our home. And, when the workers removed the tape they had used to hold down the paper they used to "protect" our hardwood floor, it pulled up some of the finish! I wasn't home during the install, but I got a call from someone at the company whom I'd never spoken to before. He was very quick to blame the manufacturer for the wrong size windows. He insisted they must have punched in the wrong numbers at the factory and said AVW would place another rush order for the correct size. When I came home that night I saw the damage to the floor. --AVW never mentioned that and it was pretty obvious! Needless to say I was pretty unhappy! Now I called my salesman to get more information the moment I found out they brought the wrong size windows and you'd think he would have been calling me... but no, he never called me back! So I left a message, much like this one on AVW's Facebook page and what do you know? After they deleted my comment, so no one else could see it, the salesman called that night to apologize profusely. I didn't want to deal with him anymore so I called Bill's office to complain the next day. I never got to speak with him and they kept referring me back to the same sales guy, whom I no longer trusted. Two weeks later the new windows arrived and they fit, but they didn't have the sound package I paid extra for! Can you believe it? Neither could I, so I called the salesman again and he said "oh, I meant to tell you, the factory doesn't make the windows you ordered with the sound package." At this point, I was livid! Why am I finding this out on my own, when the second order arrives after they screwed up the first? They charged me extra for this and never communicated with me once during the whole process after the original order. They brought the wrong windows, started demolition, damaged my floor and then didn't get the sound package I ordered and once again, blamed it on the manufacturer. (they did refund the extra I paid for the sound package) They said they would pay for the floor, but when they guy they sent out to provide a repair estimate said my entire hardwood floor would need to be refinished because the damaged spots couldn't be easily repaired, AVW backed away from that real quick. Instead, they offered me a discount on future window replacements. I'm thinking to myself 'this the worst home repair experience I've ever had, but all these Angie's list reviews can't be wrong.' And I will say, once they got the windows in, they were very nice and the install was clean. So I told them I would give them one more chance to redeem themselves if they gave me a HUGE discount on replacing a 4x3 picture window in the front of my house. They agreed to do it and once again, all communication ceased. They told me they would rush the order, but that didn't happen so I had to start calling again to see where we were with installation. When the window arrived, they did a great job installing it and I am very happy with the results. To this day, no one from AVW has called to see if I was happy with the windows or the work they did. And while I did get a big discount on the second window install, my floor is still damaged. Unfortunately, we're just going to have live with it for now, because fixing it will cost about $5000 and require moving out of our house for a week.

It went very well once we decided to move ahead. Their sales process is a little heavy handed - very high initial bid which came down quickly with some negotiation. This is one where you definitely need multiple bids with detailed attention to getting apples to apples. Each vendor has there specials and their way of pricing. AVW uses Anlin windows which seemed to be of high quality. The detailed measurement went well, the windows came in when they said they would - about a month from measurement. Install was very professional with a polite crew. They got it done in the time they said - about 4 days for 39 windows on two floors. Definitely would recommend them. I wish they'd figure out a way to do aggressive pricing on the first estimate without the need for so much back and forth. initial bid was at least 25% higher than final agreed price. Due to the configuration of our original window frames, they recommended a metal coil wrap to better seal the outside of the new windows that actually created a frame around each window - ended up being a very nice addition. It trimmed the windows nicely.

could have done the job more cheaply, but not better. Well worth what they charge in terms of professionalism. Doors were actually ready before they said they would be, which was a nice surprise. Installation was well done. I love the way the cleanup after the job. This is the second time I’ve used this company and both experiences have been wonderful.

I was overall happy with the project. It took a little longer than I expected because I neglected to pull the permits. When the inspector came to check, American Vision Windows took all the responsibility, drew the permits for us, and even ordered three additional windows to satisfy the egress, installed them, and let me keep the other windows to install in another room at a later date. All this, without adding a dime to the original estimate. The only additional cost was when I asked them to add moulding around the doorways to match what I had chosen for the windows. They were happy to do this, and it looks great. My only complaint was that they took the stickers off the windows before the inspector could see them. AVW installed the windows, then took off the stickers and cleaned the windows, before demonstrating to us how to open, close, lock and remove windows and screens for easy cleaning. This is their standard procedure, to leave you with a nice new clean window. The problem was that the inspector wanted to see the stickers. This is where all the energy and performance ratings are listed. Twice this happened and it caused delays, because the stickers had gotten thrown out. Much of this could have been prevented if the stickers had just been carefully placed somewhere after removal. Also, if the inspector had been a little more patient. After waiting for him all afternoon, he came at 5:23pm, and was in a rush. We scramble to find the stickers (again not realizing he would want to see them) but he had no time to wait for us. This meant further delay and another day marked out to wait for an inspector. Most of the problems were caused by the inspector. In sharp contrast, AVW went out of their way to make the process go smoothly. The office quickly returned calls when we had questions. All of the installers we dealt with were very professional and friendly. It's a big company, and once or twice the installers seemed not to know exactly what we had wanted on a particular window and had to ask us to clarify, but they really do make costumer service a priority. We are happy with the company, and plan to have them back to install those other two windows and a sliding glass door when our budget allows.

Had some issues with previous window that they installed and they worked with me to comply with city inspector's specification on a replacement window. They were wonderful.

The service provided by American Vision Windows was excellent. They were great. They were clean and tidy. Honestly, you couldn't see a paint drip. They did a great job and they replaced every window. They replaced 13 windows on a single level. I wouldn't go with anybody else, they were so clean. Everything is brand new and looked great.

They were awesome.They installed top of the line Anllin windows in our 2-story home. Besides 13 regular windows, we also had 1 awning style (crank out) window, 2 very large garden windows, and one very custom sliding glass door with a dog door installed. We worked out the details of the customized slider with dog door in the Orange office with the salesman and the install foreman so we could be sure that what we wanted was able to be done. On install day, the crew arrived promptly. The 2 garden windows were nail-fined in and the replacement stucco work on the exterior was exceptional, which was one of our concerns. You would never know that the stucco was patched...the color matched perfectly. The finish work throughout was very good, and the caulking was sharp and clean. Any questions that we had were addressed and the followup after install was excellent. They were not the cheapest estimate that we got, but we were not looking for cheapest, We were looking for the right job at the right price. We are totally satisfied with our windows and what we paid for them was completely fair.

I am first time home buyer. i got a foreclosure house. it needed windows replacement + Patio door. We got estimates from other companies. We were new to this so was very cautious and nervous how will things go. We decided to go with American Vision because they showed on time and the sales guy gave us options and explained each and every option. We gave us good price. Although it was not that low but very competitive to others. We wanted quality as it was one time investment. Also we wanted it installed in 2.5 weeks. as we understood it can take 3-4 weeks. The sales guy called and got the date for 2.5 week. Only thing is after replacement is done one window latch was not the correct. so we have to report this and American Windows took care of it. but took time as the second time the latch was wrong too. so there is some communication gap between the supplier and american windows. but we got the right latch at last. The financial and fulfillment department girls were nice and gave me all the before hand. After windows installation we ask for windows treatment estimate and got good deal. Windows treatment went perfect. We got on time and looks good.

I thought it was a reasonable price. They were very professional. They seem to do a very good job. I would recommend them.The quality is hard to tell at this point. So far, it was performed well. I won't know if we have any issues until we have a rainstorm.

i have had to have American Vision come back 6 times to correct problems that should of nevedr occured They installed a window that at the time of installation had a bent frame - Put wood plantains back on the house that had actual termite holes in the board - They cut several of the boards short and filled they with silicone to hide the short cut. They used black silicone on 7 of the windows of the 8th they used a different color. Instead of masking the inside ceil with painters tape so that your caulking line is straight they do it fast and sloppy free handed. They will short cut your job if your not constantly watching. I had one of there employees tell me that he had requested more wood for the installation of these windows and was denied as was told by the service manager to use the old wood even though the employee said it was bad and should be replaced. Although one or two of the employees tried hard to do a good job the companys climate is about doing it fast and cheap no quality control AT ALL. Do you self a favor go some where else

The installers showed up on time, were very meticulous with making sure that anything that needed to be covered was covered and/or moved. The quality of the doors are excellent and the installation went flawless. Whatever I asked for the crew to do, they were amicable to servicing my needs. When they were through with the work, they cleaned up any mess, vacuumed and swept wherever needed. The job was not rushed but done to make sure that the doors were framed correctly and hung properly. This is the second time I'm using this company and would not hesitate to call again if in need of Windows or doors. They be a bit more expensive that others but so far the peace of mind has been worth it.

Company was very professional and accommodating. Delayed completion because of illness in our family. The workers sere prompt, clean and professional. We were very pleased with their work. The job took 2 days because of the extra work of cutting walls and making new woodwork for the 3 windows but they made it as easy on us as they could.

It took a day longer than originally planned and they arrived a little later on the second day but otherwise, all went incredibly well. The results are fantastic.

We canceled after reading on Angie's list about the gimmicks used by the salesman. We experienced a similar technique in that we were led to believe we were getting a "special deal" unavailable to others. We had to commit to 5 contingencies for the "special deal." It turns out others were experiencing the same gimmick. We did not appreciate this deceptive method and canceled. Interestingly the salesman never called to inquire why we canceled.

The windows are very high quality, as is the patio door. The house holds heat and cool much better now and really keeps the house more shielded from outside noise. We had single paned windows before. We had to wait about 5 weeks, but we were not in a hurry and the windows came at the promised time. Installation was smooth and the installers made sure to leave everything clean. They came in with a crew of about 6 guys which made the installation quite quick. We especially like that we were able to get windows that were brown on the outside (to match our trim) and white on the inside! The one downside to the windows is the frames are wider than the windows they replaced, so the actual glass part of the window is smaller.

I think they had excellent service and did excellent work. I was very pleased. It was a quality product and they did a great installation.

It was a fantastic experience. They were on time and finished the installation of 11 windows and doors by 3pm. They look fantastic. These people are great!

Essentially, the work was done very well with only one minor issue. I am very picky, and I found the caulking on one of the windows too wide. I held back some of the final payment so that they would have to return to redo the caulking. It was the main worker who suggested that, so the workers were very nice and the job eventually was completed. So, I liked the windows, their work, and I would use them again. There was also one thing that could have gone wrong and that was not American Vision's problem but was the entire hassle relating to like for like retrofits and yet meeting egress code. That is a city and state problem that I keep getting different answers from different people working for the city.

Called to get a estimate on window replacement. In our case we also need to have windows moved higher on the wall. They were very professional but this is what we figured out. If you simply need to have some old windows poped out and replaced with new ones AVW is probley a good choice. If there is anything beyond strictly replacement you will be better served to talk to someone else.The price range they gave us for what we wanted to do was on the high side. This was surprising because AVW seems to position themselfs as the low cost leader capable of doing what you need. They seem to have a quality product and use all theie own people for installations..
